A Garda investigation into a woman alleging she was raped by a man she met over Tinder is currently underway.

The woman says that she met the man in a coffee shop in Dublin last Thursday after talking to him over the popular dating app for four days.

However, things took a sinister turn when the man forced the woman, who is believed to be in her 30’s, into his car before driving to the M50 where the terrifying sex crime took place.

It has been reported that the man drove around looking for a suitable secluded spot before the rape took place.

Following this, the alleged rapist dropped the woman home.

The woman was understandably terrified.

This is the first reported incident of its kind in relation to Tinder and is a reminder of how careful we all need to be when using dating apps.

Fáilte Ireland’s new chairman Michael Cawley has announced that Dublin will be getting a €20 million facelift.

The capital will be cleaned up good and proper, and there’ll also be a logo designed for the city, as they want to create a ‘unified brand’ much like New York’s ‘I heart NY’.

Even though we’ve been hearing that tourism is doing well in our fair city, Cawley says we are “losing out market share wise to comparative cities like Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Barcelona.

“We need to clean up its image. Temple Bar, long an asset, has become less than an asset, shall we say. I don't want to be overly negative about it, but we need to do better.”

Ooo, sounds like Michael’s getting a bit catty, doesn’t it? Still, he’s got a point! We’d love to see a clean, prettier Dublin (though we love it anyway!).

OK, so we know you’ve watched a LOT of celebrities take on the Ice Bucket Challenge at this stage, but this one we just had to share with you!

Forget a mere bucket of iced water over the head – Irish rugby star Cian Healy took on a whole fire crew for his charity challenge!

Not only can he do a brilliant Bonnie Tyler impression, but with the help of the Blanchardstown Fire Brigade in Dublin, Cian really took the challenge up a notch!

He then nominated Joe Schmidt, Katie Taylor and the BOD’s lovely wife Amy Huberman.

Beat that guys!

After hearing about how rents across Dublin have risen by 26% since 2011, and how students are finding it increasingly difficult to find somewhere to live, this comic by Twisted Doodle detailing everything you need to rent in Dublin is VERY well timed!

Finding somewhere to live, or someone to live with is difficult at the best of times. Especially when you’ve grown up watching Monica and Rachel in their big huge apartment – the realisation that your whole flat will be about the size of Rachel’s room is quite a bitter pill to swallow. Why must they make it even more difficult?!

A US travel magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, has voted Dublin as the fifth friendliest city on earth!

Readers described our fair city as a “bibliophile’s dream”, aswell as being “green, lush, and very walkable”.

They also said it was “the kind of place you stop in for a drink in a local pub, only to end up chatting with the locals for the next five hours.”

  • Well, what can we say? We do try!
  • The top ten friendliest cities were:
  • Auckland, New Zealand
  • Melbourne, Australia
  • Victoria, BC, Canada
  • Charleston, South Carolina, US
  • Dublin, Ireland
  • Sydney, Australia
  • Siem Reap, Cambodia
  • Cape Town, South Africa
  • Savannah, Georgia, US
  • Seville, Spain

However, ten unfriendly cities you might want to steer clear of are:

  • Johannesburg, South Africa
  • Cannes, France
  • Moscow, Russia
  • Paris, France
  • Marseilles, France
  • Beijing, China
  • Frankfurt, Germany
  • Milan, Italy
  • Monte Carlo, Monaco
  • Nassau, Bahamas

Ye see? Paris might have style, but we have friendly residents! Which would you prefer?
