Begging has been named as one of Dublin's biggest issues by visitors to Ireland's capital.

Dublin chief of Fáilte Ireland Keelin Fagan told Independent.ie the  issue is 'one to watch.'

Only 24% of tourists in Dublin said they would consider making a second visit to the city.

However Dublin is still considered safe by tourists.

'Security isn't coming up per se, but then the begging is coming up.'

'Generally we're still considered a safe destination, which is brilliant – but it's another one we need to watch.'

We Are Dublin Town CEO Richard Guiney told Newstalk that the issue isn't only flagged by tourists, but by local businesses also.

“In comments that we get back on consumer surveys, begging comes up all the time as something that people feel slightly intimidated about – particularly in the evening time,”

Brace yourself for a delicious weekend because we have an insider tip for all the foodies out there.

Krispy Kreme is giving away free doughnuts this weekend.

Yes, they are completely free of charge and just as delicious as the kind you pay for.

The spur of the moment giveaway is in honour of Krispy Kreme’s new store opening on September 26th in Blanchardstown.

It seems they want to give the public a preview of their scrumptious treats.

Doughnuts have been all the rage in Dublin, and we can’t think of a tastier trend to get behind.

So, where will they be handing out the free food?

In the city centre of course. Word on the street is Krispy Kreme will open a secret hotlight hatch, according to The Sun.

For three days, Friday, Aug 10th- Sunday, August 12th, the doughnut giveaway will take place on 57 South William St. Their opening hours will be 10am-10pm on Friday and Saturday, and between 10 am and 6 pm on Sunday.

Basically, when the hotlight comes on, get ready for some hot, glazed original doughnuts.

These mouth-watering doughy delights are impossible to say no to. The key is to get them when they’re warm, and you won’t be disappointed.

And if you are a true Krispy fanatic share your doughnut selfie and tag @KrispyKremeIRL and #TheOGisComing.

You will be entered into a draw for the chance to win exclusive entry to the Krispy Kreme VIP opening night in Blanchardstown Centre, according to the store’s spokesperson.

So, when you are out on the town this weekend, make sure you and your friends stop by the hotlight pop-up for some free, melt-in-your-mouth doughnuts.

It’s been less than 24 hours since I went to see Coppers: The Musical and I am itching to see it again. Have I been on the Olympia’s website for the past 15 minutes umming and ahhing about buying tickets? Possibly…

I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much from the musical, mainly because of my limited love for Coppers and it’s sticky floors, overpriced drink and love for cheesy pop music, but boy was I pleasantly surprised.

My stomach hurt from laughing so much, my cheeks ached from smiling and Maniac 2000 will be forever stuck in my head.

The show follows the love story between Kerry girl Noleen who moves from small town  Cahersiveen to Dublin and GAA player and clamper Gino Wildes.

The musical features comical songs about working for the VHI and gay GAA players-that will be stuck in your head forever, but most importantly, Coppers will leave you feeling oddly proud about Ireland and our unique cliches.

The cast really won me over, especially Noleen’s hopeless fiance Mossy and his side-splitting performance. They're a genuinely talented group of people and certainly deserve a standing ovation each night.

The show is silly and witty, and serious fans of the theatre may call it foolish, but Coppers: The Musical is full of heart.

It’ll brighten your day and leave you yearning to go to the over-crowded club on Harcourt Street with hopes of finding your very own Noleen(t) or Gino.

Kudos to Paul Howard, Karl Harpur and the entire cast of Copper Face Jacks: The Musical.

Do yourself a favour and go see this joy of a musical. It’s too good to miss.

Copper Face Jacks: The Musical runs in the Olympia until Sunday, August 12.

The hosepipe ban just got serious. A warning has been issued regarding the water supply in greater Dublin area.

Irish Water has upped its attempt to conserve water as they caution usage.

“"We've about 70 days of usable water left,” said head of Irish Water, Jerry Grant.

That calculated number of days is in accordance with Dublin’s population of 1.6 million people.

Despite recent showers, there has been significantly less rainfall when compared to the previous three years.

According to Met Éireann, when averaged together, the last three years have seen 165 mm of rainfall recorded during the months of May, June, and July.

This year there was only 63.9 mm across the summer months, showing a significant water shortage problem.

"About the 10th or 12th of May, we had 150 days storage in Poulaphouca [Reservoir]. It's an enormous resource of water and it saves the city year in, year out.

“We used 80 days of that storage in 83 days. In other words, almost nothing was contributed to the storage in that period,” the head of Irish Water explained.

The hosepipe ban and water restrictions remain in place around the country.

It has also been reported that Ireland is the worst performer in western Europe for pipe leakage from water main pipes. It showed a measurement of 49% leakage across the country.

As a result, a leakage reduction project is underway in Hospital Co. Limerick.

The greater Dublin area has been urged to continue to conserve water as often as possible.

Check out these everyday steps one can take to save water around the house on Water.ie.

When you wake up in the morning, what is the first thing you worry about?

It's safe to say that in this day and age we all have a lot to worry about, however a new survey has revealed just what is on the nation's mind.

And, it turns out that work is the biggest worry for Dubliners.

businessman, client, coaching

Research by Royal London, a pension and investment company, questioned 1,000 people and found that 11 per cent of people in Dublin worry about their job, compared to just eight per cent in the rest of the country.

And just as much as we worry about work, we also crave some time away.

The survey found that 17 per cent of Dubs focus on travelling, which is above the national average of 13 per cent.

adult, book, business

However, along with work and travel, money tops the list across the whole of Ireland, with 37 per cent of the nation claiming that it's their biggest worry.

We seem to have our priorities in order though, as health came out on top of what the nation focuses on (37 per cent), while career came in second with 26 per cent and travel came in third with 13 per cent.

Has Cheryl Cole switched career paths?

The Girls Aloud singer was seen arriving in Dublin yesterday, according to Xposé.

The reason for her trip was to film a few scenes for the upcoming movie Four Girls and It, based on a Jacqueline Wilson’s children novel.

We are so excited to see the new movie also starring Russell Brand and Michael Caine.

via GIPHY

However, this is not Cheryl’s first appearance in a film. We all remember her cameo in What to Expect When You’re Expecting in 2012.

The film will follow the story of four children and a creature they meet on the beach named the Psammead.

This magical creature, voiced by Michael Caine, can grant wishes but the children must beware of the villain, Russel Brand, who tries to snatch the Psammead to use for himself.

Isn't Russell the perfect villain with his long, dark hair and his hot, 'bad guy' vibe?

The Times revealed that the Wexford coastline will double as Cornwall as the setting for the film.

Cheryl’s choice to do a cameo in the children’s film may be inspired by her son Bear, just 15 months old.

We were heartbroken to hear that the young mum recently split from Bear’s father, One Direction star Liam Payne.

The couple still plan on staying on good terms, so that they can focus on making their son’s happiness a priority.

So, keep your eyes peeled for Cheryl and her famous co-stars. We are excited to see if she continues acting!

Good news for those living close to the city centre, the Danish brand is opening a new space in Dublin 2 in less than a month.

Located on 60/70 South Great Georges Street, a space previously owned by Waltons, the outlet will be the brand's biggest store outside of its home country to date.

On a surface of 370 square metres – which is about twice the size of a normal one – this flagship store will feature small furniture, kitchen supplies, craft and DIY articles, party decorations, and much more.

Søstrene Grene currently has five other stores in Ireland – Dún Laoghaire, Blanchardstown, Athlone, Cork and Limerick.

The Riptide Movement will play Vicar Street on Saturday, 1st December.

Tickets are priced at €25, which is inclusive of booking free, and will be on sale from the 5th of July at 10am from Ticketmaster.ie.

The announcement follows the release of their new single, Plastic Oceans

Plastic Oceans was recorded in London with producer Chris Coady (Future Islands, Slowdive) and has a firm backbone of the kind of melodic indie rock that has seen the band build a strong following in their native Ireland, clocking up various #1 records.

The band will continue their heavy touring schedule this summer, putting in appearances in coastal areas.

They will be using their latest single to spread the important environmental message that our beaches, coastlines, rivers, cities and towns need to be kept litter and plastic free if we're to stop the oceans from becoming even more polluted by plastic waste.

Visit www.ticketmaster.ie for Vicar Street tickets from July 5th.
