According to emerging reports, diversions are currently in place on the R137 following a multi vehicle collision this evening.

It has been established that emergency services are at the scene of the collision on the Dundalk / Carlingford Road in Dundalk.

It is believed that there were at least four cars involved in the incident.

AA Roadwatch confirmed the incident on Twitter, writing; "The Dundalk/Carlingford Rd (R173) is closed at Gyles Quay due to a crash. Local diversions are in place."

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area while authorities tend to the scene.
