Ed Sheeran pretty much took himself completely out of the limelight last year.

There was no social media, no new music, and no gossip about him – just the way he wanted it.

But now, the man has come back with a bang this year, releasing not one but two songs on the same day – as well as having an upcoming tour and album on the way.

And part of being back in the limelight is having to do various promotions, such as radio and television shows.

The singer was on The Graham Norton Show last night and took part in everyone's favourite segment; the red chair.

Now, Ed didn't know it, but the man going on to the red chair was his childhood friend whom he spent a lot of time with growing up.

As the man sat down, Ed still didn't realise who it was – until he started telling the story about when Ed's mam made them sausages (it was actually kinda boring).

Look out for when Ed cops on to who it is (around 35:50), because his reaction is absolutely priceless.

Ed Sheeran just made major music history by becoming the first singer to have two songs in the top slots in the Irish charts.

The singer has been poised to take the top two spots in charts the world over, but Ireland clearly has some of the biggest Ed fans as the songs are currently sitting side by side atop the IRMA Chart.

Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill are the first two singles the star has released from his brand new album, Divide.

Fans have been desperate to hear more from the red-headed singer, and he took to Twitter last week to reveal ALL of the song names on the new album.

The album has two songs inspired by Ireland on the album, so it's not surprising we've been anticipating the rest of the albums release with bated breath.

Just got the test pressing for the album, can’t wait for you to hear it! Pre-order link in my bio x

Ed also made history by hitting the top two spots in the Australian ARIA Singles Chart (presumably because of all the Irish fans residing over there).

Delighted for him!

The legendary Ed Sheeran has just become even more awesome in our eyes: he's now performed an AH-MAZE-ING acoustic version of The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.

Yup, the 25-year-old was appearing on Capital FM in London yesterday when a caller made a request: in honour of her two great passions in life – the Fresh Prince and Ed himself – would he get out his guitar to sing the "intro bit" for her?

After a bit of reluctance, Mr Sheeran agreed. And the result is, well, it's just stunning.

Watch, listen, and gush below:

Ed Sheeran has been slaying in 2017, after dropping two singles from his album to huge success.

Fans have been desperate to hear more from the red-headed singer, and he has just taken to Twitter to reveal ALL of the song names on the new album.

One song in particular caught people's eye, as it pays homage to one of the west's finest counties.

The track, entitled Galway Girl, is sure to be a complete winner in the Irish charts.

Ed also previously revealed that he will be shooting a music video for the new song in Ireland.

“I’m definitely shooting a video for the song in Ireland,” he told Eoghan McDermott on his 2FM show.

“I’ve got a trad band called Beoga. They’re actually from Belfast, but they’ve – it’s a fiddle, a pipe, a bodhrán and piano. And we really jam,” he explained.

“It’s going to be good. I do think I’ll never be able to play another song in Ireland again because this will be the song."

Thats not all – Ed also admitted that there will be a song about another Irish county on the website and bonus album.

“There’s a song on the bonus album that’s about Co. Wexford so there’s two Irish jams on there both with full trad.”

The also suggested that he will bo hosting auditions for the video in Ireland as he needs "proper ceili dancers."

While we all love the original version of Galway Girl, we bet Ed's rendition will be beyond excellent.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 48 hours, you'll know that guitar-wielding singer Ed Sheeran returned with not one but two new singles yesterday.

The star took a year-long sabbatical from singing and social media, but came back with a bang 365 days later.

The songs, Shape of You and Castle On the Hill, are currently enjoying the top spots on the iTunes chart.

Both songs have received an overwhelmingly positive reaction online, as fans are obsessed with hearing Ed's new music.

The singer took to Twitter and Instagram to share the love to his fans, and to thank them for their support.

"Truly overwhelmed with the reaction to these new songs, I've never had anything like this, thank you for all your wonderful messages," said the star.

"Now, please blast them out as loud as you can from every speaker you can find, as many times as you can! Lots of love," he finished.

The singer is set to make history if he secures the number one and number two spots in the official single charts.

We can't wait for the rest of the album to be revealed.

It's been a year, but now the king of love songs is BACK!

Ed Sheeran has been teasing us on social media over the last few days with pictures and lyrics, but last night he released his first track from his new album, Castle on the Hill.

The pop anthem is an ode to his childhood and his friends, and we absolutely love it.

But that wasn't it. Nope, minutes later Ed dropped another new song called Shape of You which goes down the R&B route.

If these new songs are anything to go by, we can't wait to hear the rest of his new album.

Ed Sheeran has ended his year long social media sabbatical, exactly one year from his last postings.

The star returned under mysterious circumstances.

Rather than posting a casual selfie or a sunset from his year of travelling, the star has been posting cryptic blue boxes across his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

It's prompted fans to think that the singer is about to release his 3rd album.

In his last social media post one year ago, the singer promised "the 3rd album is on it's way and it's the best thing I've made thus far."

Fans are in uproar online trying to guess what the blue boxes mean, with most assuming (and praying) that it is a nod to a new album.

"Wow I've never been more excited to see a picture of the colour blue," tweeted one fan.

"He's somewhere pissing himself laughing at the amount of commotion a blue profile picture is causing hahaha," laughed another.

Either way, we're just glad the Thinking Out Loud singer is back.

Keep an eye out ladies, because the beaut that is Ed Sheeran is in Ireland at the moment.

Over the last few days, the star has been spotted around our fair green isle, and fans have been snapping him out on the street.

The singer took a break from music this year and previously revealed that he has a connection with Ireland through his grandmother.

According to the Irish Mirror, he was spotted around Belfast during the week but is staying in Dublin for the weekend.

When it comes to penning top-notch tracks, music industry moguls know they don't come much better than Ed Sheeran these days.

So, it's no real surprise that the folk behind the X Factor have earmarked the 25-year-old for this year's winner's single.

With tracks like Thinking Out Loud, Photograph and The A Team under his belt, Ed has undoubtedly made his mark on the charts over the last few years, and X Factor bosses want to give their winner a taste of the same success.

“Everything Ed does turns to gold,” a source told The Sun newspaper. “To have him write the winner’s song is huge and amazing news for this year’s winner."

Like the show's bosses, this year's aspiring stars know affiliation with Ed will do wonders for the song's chart position, with the insider adding: "All the remaining contestants have heard the track and it works for the majority."

"They can’t believe potentially their first ever single will be written by Ed.”

But if you can't quite get your head around the idea of Honey G belting out an Ed Sheeran original, don't worry because you're not alone.

Acknowledging that Ed's style and lyrics won't work for every potential winner, bosses know Ed isn't a viable option for the likes of Honey G.

"The only chance his song won’t get used is if 5Am or Honey G pull off a shock win. Then bosses might need to consider another one of their options.”

Honey G doing an Ed Sheeran tearjerker? No, thanks.

Oh, Ed Sheeran… or should we say Ed Sheer-HAM.

Yep, that's right. There's a giant pig portraying the singer in ceramic form in Suffolk in the UK and it has just sold for a very large sum of moola.

It was originally part of an art project which saw 38 other sculptures portray big stars in pig form. It included Piggy Stardust, which went for €3000 and Elvis Porksley which sold for €3230.

It all seems a bit cray-cray but the art project was actually for a charity – the St Elizabeth Hospice – which cares for people with progressive illnesses and the pigs that were sold raised at total of €176,200.

However, Ed Sheer-ham went up for auction again this week and it is reported that the ceramic structure sold for €7200.

Not bad for a piece of pork, hey? God knows what they'll do with it though…

If you happened to be staying in Schull Harbour Hotel at the weekend, and didn't get a glimpse of the red-haired wonder that is Mr. Ed Sheeran, you have our deepest sympathies.

It turns out good ol' Ed, who was recently cut from a Beatles movie, decided to get a little secret R&R on the Emerald Isle this weekend, and Facebook is now having a field day.

Sharing a snap of the award-winning star, staff at the hotel wrote: "Look who popped in for a fry up this morning! #edsheeran#yummybreakfasts #schull."

Some fans were devastated that the singer had rocked up to the People's Republic without so much as a heads-up, with one social media user lamenting: "Cant believe Ed was in Cork and I didn't know."

"Let's call in sick tomorrow and try to find him," wrote one girl whose mission is definitely clear.

And other fans felt more concern for Ed that he hadn't gotten a taster of their bants, with one Facebook user writing: "Imagine how much fun he would have had with us!"

"Oh he would have been WEAK for us…." added another.

Too true girls, too true.

Ed Sheeran has reportedly been cut from the upcoming Ron Howard Beatles flick The Beatles: Eight Days A Week.

Despite having successfully appeared in a number of small screen productions, The Mirror has reported that the singer has been left disappointed as his scenes in the movie have been edited out in a bid to make room for more Beatles-focused moments.

A source told The Sun: “Ed had recorded a segment for the film, but it failed to make the final cut along with a load of other talking heads by Ron who wanted to make more time for The Beatles themselves.”

According to the source, the Thinking Out Loud singer “will be gutted” by the decision as he has huge time for The Beatles, particularly Sir Paul McCartney from whom he has a signed guitar.

They said: “Ron had to be ruthless, but Ed will be gutted.  He’s crazy about The Beatles and has grown really close to Paul over the past couple of years, even introducing him to his dad.”
