After recently breaking up with his girlfriend, Athina Andrelos, Ed Sheeran is ready to find the one.

The pair dated for almost a year, but the singer has now confessed: "My parents have been married for 30 years, my grandparents were together 66 years. I'm definitely bred into that life of you find a partner and you stick with them."

He has described his celebrity bestie, Taylor Swift, as a "brilliant wingman" as he begins to move on from Athina. People once speculated whether Ed and TayTay were romantically involved, but those rumours were not true and they really are just great friends. Awww, bless. 

Taylor has recently started dating DJ, Calvin Harris.

Ed has also spoken up about his friend, Shane Warne, when it comes to charming the ladies: “He’s hugely impressive. It’s an art form with him.”

Ed has recently dropped over 40lbs, going from 15 stone to 11 by going on a diet and exercising more regularly.

Ed Sheeran has become the second artist ever to hit 2 billion streams on Spotify. 

The cheeky singer has followed in the footsteps of Eminem, but he is the first ever British artist to do so.

Kevin Brown, Spotify's head of label relations for Europe, has said: "Breaking the two billion streams barrier on Spotify is evidence – were it needed – of Ed Sheeran's enormous popularity among the 60 million music fans on the service. "

He then went on to say: "Ed Sheeran is quite simply one of the best-loved artists on Spotify globally, and we are thrilled that he has achieved this milestone."

Mark Mitchell, General Manager at Atlantic Records UK has described it as "phenomenal".

Ed Sheeran was asked by a girl, Rachel Murray, to perform at her boyfriend, Less Foster's funeral after the 24-year-old passed away last week following a battle with skin cancer.

Rachel had started a #singforlee campaign on Twitter to try to get Ed to perform at the funeral.

Unfortunately, Ed could not make the funeral as he is currently on tour in New Zealand.

Instead, Ed paid his respects by sending Rachel a huge bouquet of lillies.

Rachel told the Daily Mirror: "Lee was just a normal lad. He was fun-loving and loved life. He had a constant battle with cancer for 15 months but was so positive the whole way through. You wouldn't even know he was ill.”

Lee was a huge Ed Sheeran fan and the couple had planned to go to his concert in July and discussed having "Thinking Out Loud" play at their wedding. 

Lee's funeral will take place today.

Our thoughts are with Lee's friends and family.

A very "big" secret, indeed! 

Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles have always been good pals, but we didn't know how good, until now.

During the Australia/New Zealand leg of his current world tour, Ed sat down with online station ZM Online to reveal a few home truths about the One Direction star.

When asked jokingly in a fan tweet if his song Little Things was about the One Direction lads', ahem, "little things," Ed burst out laughing and proceeded to reassure listeners that the 1D guys had nothing to worry about in the size department – in fact they all seem to be very proud of the size of their "things"!

Referencing a nude picture of Harry that appeared online last year, which at the time was thought to be a leaked image from an anonymous source, Ed revealed something very telling.

"Did you know Harry leaked that picture himself? He leaked his own picture…I think that's amazing," Ed said. "He was just like ‘no one knows, so I'm just gonna tell them.'"

To make things crystal clear, the singer finished by saying, "He [Harry] definitely hasn't got a little thing, so no, I did not write Little Things about [his] little things."

Ed Sheeran has melted our hearts yet again.

The singer is currently on the Australia/New Zealand leg of his world tour, and he stopped off at a hospital in between concerts to visit a very special fan.

Jess Knight bought tickets to Ed's Auckland concert last year, but she was diagnosed with leukaemia just two weeks later. Six months on, Jess is still finishing up treatment and recovering from a bone marrow transplant and unfortunately was unable to leave hospital to attend the show over the weekend.

The solution? Get Ed to the hospital, of course. A few weeks back, Jess and her friends started a social media campaign with the hashtag #KiaOraEdPlsVisitJess, in the hope of attracting the Thinking Out Loud singer's attention.

It worked, and true to form, Ed obliged and popped into Jess' hospital room over the weekend to help celebrate her 20th birthday with her friends.

Taking to Facebook to let everyone know the good news, Jess wrote, "You all helped make my birthday the best ever because guess what!? WE DID IT!!! Ed came and visited it! He was such a lovely guy! Really genuine and down to earth. I couldn't stop smiling! Thank you again! You will never know how much it meant to me!"

Could Ed be the soundest pop star on earth? We think so.

There's just three months to go until Ed Sheeran hits Croke Park for two summer concerts. Eleven weeks, to be exact, if you're counting down the days. Which we might be.

The first batch of tickets were sent out this week, and to make things all the more real, the three support acts for the gigs have also been announced.

Irish band BellX1 will support Ed on both nights, with Gavin James joining on July 24th and Jamie Lawson on July 25th.

Exciting! Of course, we're hoping the fourth support act will be Ed's newest sidekick, Gladys the hen, as introduced yesterday…

Ed Sheeran has spoken out about why he decided to get healthy, saying his body let him know it was time for a change: “I haven’t really been healthy to my body and my body’s not liking it.”

Speaking to The Sun, Ed revealed that adding some green juices to his diet has seen a massive change for him: “I’m now a small. I went from a large to a medium to a small … I’m not losing it because I’m eating well and going to the gym – I’ve started green juices.”

Thankfully for Ed, being an international singer has its perks, with Ed adding that he gets his juices made for him: “I said to the guy that does the food on our tour, ‘Can you just blend everything I need?’ And then I just down it.”

This doesn’t even count, Ed – everyone knows washing the blender is by far the worst bit!

Despite this, we have to say Ed is looking great and it’s good to hear he’s looking after himself properly.

Everyone from Zac Efron to One Direction have featured on the kids' show, and now Ed has stepped up to the Sesame Street challenge.

The song – about the difference between life at home and at school – is fairly corny, but the Thinking Out Loud singer makes a solid effort.

We all know the old-age rule about friends and exes – but it looks like someone might need to remind Ed Sheeran…

Ed was spotted in Sydney hanging out with his pal Niall Horan’s ex-girlfriend, Barbara Palvin.

The pair went for dinner together before sharing a car to leave and although they tried to avoid the paparazzi it was no avail.

It was only yesterday that Ed revealed he he had split from his girlfriend of one year, Athina. 

We wonder how Niall will feel about Ed hanging out with his ex…?

Given that Ed accused Niall of sleeping with Ellie Goulding while he was dating her in his hit song, Don’t, we reckon it might be time for Niall to get his guitar out!

We really hope this isn’t the end of the One Direction-Ed Sheeran bromance – how much can we take?

We’re not sure how you could top what is supposed to be the best day of someone’s life – unless you’re Ed Sheeran that is.

The singer is currently in Australia and offered to help radio presenters Kyle and Jacki O make one lucky couple’s big day even more exciting.

Kyle and Jackie O were organising Matt and Kyla’s wedding as part of a pre-arranged deal when Ed offered to sing at the event.

Needless to say, Ed turning up at your wedding would be somewhat overwhelming so the reactions are just incredible.

We’ve said it once (ok, ten times) but we’ll say it again – what a guy!

It's not been the best Tuesday for Ed Sheeran so far.

First he revealed that he's under doctor's orders to communicate only via a marker and whiteboard between shows until some vocal chord issues clear up.

And now the news has broken that the Thinking Out Loud singer has split from his girlfriend of over a year, Athina Andrelos.

​It's thought the couple have been split up since Ed's notoriously drunken night at the BRITs last month, which didn't go down too well with Athina.

"The final straw was at the after-party. It was a combination of Ed drinking too much and him being unable to deal with a girl that kept bothering them that night," a source told Heat magazine. 

"The next day, when Athina drove Ed to the airport, they spoke about everything and they decided to take a break because it was unfair on both of them."

Talk about a grim hangover – no doubt made a billion times worse by the fact that Ed had to fly off for the first leg of his six month tour that very same day.

Athina was Ed's first romantic interest after Ellie Goulding famously cheated on him with One Direction singer Niall Horan, a bust-up well documented in Ed's song Don't. 

We hope he's doing okay since the split!

Ed Sheeran has been Thinking Out Loud a little TOO loudly it seems!

The singer is currently on the Australian leg of his tour, having just completed a series of shows in Brisbane with another in Sydney today, and the hard work has taken its toll on his vocal chords.

Ed tweeted this morning to let fans know he was under doctor's orders to mind himself… by keeping his mouth firmly shut.

"Been told by the vocal doc not to talk at all between shows and they're giving me a white board to communicate with, could prove interesting," the singer revealed on Twitter.

Fans were quick to commiserate with/laugh at Ed's misfortune, with one writing, "I would pay to see this" and another adding, "wish i could be there to witness that! x"

Despite his illness, Ed seems to be doing his best to enjoy his time Down Under, even treating his manager Stuart to a day out at a theme park – which poor Stu seemed less than delighted about:
