As huge Ed Sheeran fans, we can’t imagine what these poor loves are going through right now.

It has been revealed that a number of fans who won tickets to the highly-anticipated gig at Whelans were left devastated after being told that the event was sold out.

Despite having won the tickets fair and square in the online lottery system, some of Ed’s most die-hard fans were told that there was simply not enough room for them to claim a spot at the gig.

How awful is that?!

One fan who won a ticket revealed to the Irish Mirror that she was told: “You’re too late, there are no more wristbands.”

And another, who claims she was told to arrive between 3pm and 7pm to pick up her wristband, was told there were no places left by 5.30pm.

Speaking to the paper, she said: “I am devastated. I’ve been following him for so long…All I want to do is see him. I won the raffle out of tens of thousands to get the ticket.”

We don’t really know what to say to these poor, disappointed fans. Let Ed’s soothing tones comfort you in your misery!

For those of us who applied for tickets to Ed Sheeran’s Storytellers gig in Whelans, Dublin this weekend, it’s been an emotional week.

Here are just some of the feelings we’ve had since the announcement and up until the moment we heard we were going/not going. Mostly not going.

Total and utter shock
Upon hearing the news we couldn’t believe our ears: “Ed Sheeran. Intimate gig. Storytellers. DUBLIN.” There is a God! Take all of our money!

Productivity
As we scrambled the internet for more information, ignoring both studies and work, we had our mums in our ears saying: “If you put this much effort into the Leaving Cert now you’d have been better off, wouldn’t you?” NOT NOW MA!

FOMO
Staying near an electronic device with internet at all times for fear tickets would be announced and we'd be somewhere useless like the gym.

Stress
OMG there’s BRAND NEW INFORMATION! Open the link, open the link!

Relief
An application process? How refreshing.

Panic
Why can’t we register?! Damn you Applause Store!

Fulfilment
All done now, registered and ready to go see Ed. We're totally in there.

Impatience
Four days is TOO LONG. Doubt starts to creep in…what if we don’t get picked? It doesn’t bear thinking about.

Uneasiness
Refreshing our email thousands of times a day and checking the hashtags #EdSheeran #Whelans incessantly to see if other people have gotten emails.

Comfort
Nobody seems to have…yet. Except for one person but they’re probably lying.

Smugness
In there like swimwear! See you Saturday, Ed!

Or, far more likely…

Devastation
So, it’s 8am, you’ve given it sixteen hours. It’s time to accept that unfortunately this time around, we are not going to see Ed.

Just remember:

Noel Gallagher caused a bit of a stir yesterday when he publicly dissed Ed Sheeran's music – but it seems Ed can give as good as he gets!

Reacting to the news that Ed had sold out three dates at Wembley Stadium, the Oasis frontman told NME, "I don’t think I can live in a world where that’s even possible."

He slammed Ed's work as "polished pop" and even (this really cut us deep!) called him just "a ginger guy with a f***king guitar."

Noel's quotes quickly spread online, but once they reached Ed's ears he was quick to show he really couldn't care less! The singer responded to an Independent UK article on Twitter with the best comeback EVER:

Just… brilliant.

The singer has always proven himself more than capable of taking a sly dig at his haters – as Ellie Goulding learnt the hard way when Ed slammed her cheating ways in his song Don't.

This latest response has definitely taught us one thing… don't mess with the Ed!

Many musicians should know at this stage that you don’t diss Ed Sheeran. You just don’t do it. He’s proved himself time and time again to be the nicest guy in music and we won’t stand for it!

Now, Oasis’ Noel Gallagher has added Ed to the list of singers he just doesn’t like, saying he doesn’t want to live in a world where the likes of Ed sell out three dates at Wembley Stadium: “I don’t think I can live in a world where that’s even possible. When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a f***ing guitar it seems subversive, but it’s f***ing not.”

Hmm, Ed is loved by millions of people around the world and we are certain they will NOT appreciate Noel’s words!

Irish fans of Ed will be delighted to know that the application process for an intimate gig in Dublin’s Whelans has officially opened and fans can register for tickets until 5pm on Friday.

The family of car crash survivor Dayna Kearney received some good news yesterday evening after their #SingForDayna campaign finally attracted the attention of Ed Sheeran's manager.

Dayna was the sole survivor of a tragic car crash in Athy last week in which four of her friends, all aged 19 and 20, were killed.

A viral campaign was started by Dayna's brother with the aim of organising a meeting between the young girl and singer Ed Sheeran. Dayna is a apparently a huge fan of Ed's and so her family believe the visit would come as a huge boost for her at this horrific time.

Ed's manager Stuart Camp replied to one of Dayna's friends yesterday via Twitter, saying he would be sure to "arrange something." The singer is due to play a small gig in Ireland on January 24th.

The campaign had gained a lot of traction over the last few days, with Niall Breslin and Hozier among the Irish stars who shared the hashtags #SingForDayna and #MessageForDayna online.

Over the last few days, an appeal to superstar Ed Sheeran to visit and sing for Dayna Kearney has gone viral. Dayna was the sole survivor of the Athy car crash that claimed the lives of her four best friends;  Gemma Nolan, Chermaine Carroll, Niamh Doyle and Ashling Middleton.

Dayna’s friends and now countless others, have set up an appeal to Ed Sheeran to visit Dayna as she is a huge fan of his and attended one of his last concerts in Ireland with her friend, Chermaine, who lost her life in the crash. The Facebook page has gained massive attention and now has almost 32,000 likes and rising.

#singfordayna has been trending in Ireland for the last few days as Dayna's friends and many more try to get Ed's attention to the appeal.

As Ed is due to play a gig in Whelan’s at the end of the month, there is a chance the appeal could have a successful ending.

There is HUGE news for Ed Sheeran fans as it has been revealed that he is set to play a secret gig in Whelan’s music venue in Dublin at the end of January. Yes, as in… this month!

The gig is a part of the Storytellers series by VH1 and will see Ed not only singing but also explaining the background to his songs – sounds perfect!

Apparently, Ed chose Whelan's because it was where he saw one of his idols, Damien Rice, playing when he was a kid: “I was only about 11 or 12 when I saw Damien play at Whelan's, and that night literally changed my life.”

There are only 400 spaces available for the January 24th gig and it is not yet known if they will be made available to the public. Watch this space…

Ah, the internet. It never ceases to amaze, confuse and bemuse us.

This photo of Ed Sheeran has been flying around Reddit and shows the singer apparently wearing lingerie on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Unfortunately, the image is photoshopped, but that doesn’t stop us from loving it. In fact, we think the question needs to be asked; if Taylor and Ariana both essentially performed in their undies – why not the lads?!

We’re sure there would have been plenty of ladies and gentlemen out there that would have appreciated if the lads took their love of lingerie to the next level.

Hopefully next year, there won’t be a need for photoshop, eh Ed?!

The question on a lot of people’s lips after the Victoria’s Secret show last week was – ‘what did Ariana Grande say to Ed Sheeran on stage?’ The pair appeared to be having a few words and Ed seemed somewhat bemused.

Well, we finally have our answer, ladies and gentlemen, and it has not disappointed! And let's just say Ed's apparent bemusement is pretty understandable!

During an interview with Elvis Duran on iHeart Radio, Ed revealed that Ariana came and stood next to him and whispered: “I love big black balls.” Am…WHAT?!

Ed explained that there were giant inflatable balloons that were black in colour but said that he couldn’t help but laugh when she said it, explaining: “If she knows what that means then I love her and if she doesn’t know what that means then it's even better."

Hmm, we think Ariana was making an innocent comment – tut tut Ed!

I'm always struck by how girls fall neatly into two camps on the subject of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Some hero-worship these models with their incredible bodies and extreme dedication to a strict diet and exercise plan, whilst others rubbish it as unrealistic and not at all aspirational. I fall quite firmly into the latter group.

This show has become a staple part of our pop culture, watched by an estimated 9 million people every year. Many see it as a positive thing; a playful celebration of female sexuality. Victoria’s Secret models are among some of the most famous (and undeniably beautiful) supermodels in the world. Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes, Karlie Kloss; they all look incredible!

But if I am to nit-pick – and I am – they all kind of look the same. Wouldn’t it be great to see a few different shapes strutting down that runway for once? A washboard stomach looks great in lingerie, but you don’t need one in order to wear underwear.

That said, it would certainly be unfair to dismiss the VS models as mere clothes horses. They work out extremely hard for those athletic physiques and plenty of them have other ventures and interests on the side. Miranda Kerr, for example, has her own successful range of organic beauty products. They are very powerful women.

Regarding the show itself, I’m not saying that I’m adverse to the effects of this spectacle. I YouTubed my fair share of VS whilst writing this, and ogled away to my heart’s content. The mixture of enviable physiques and pop music makes for a huge spectacle. It’s a celebrity gathering, a celebration of appearance and excess – this year, two models were sent down the catwalk wearing jewel-encrusted Royal Fantasy bras worth $10 million. Each.

Having a giggle at how delighted Ed Sheeran looked is all well and good, but it also serves to further endorse this behaviour as a valid form of mainstream entertainment. The fun aspect of the show means that many might not see the harm but logically speaking, it is impossible to swallow this kind of content without subconsciously inhaling more than a sniff of inherent gender bias.

The lads keep their clothes on and ogle; the ladies parade in far less. It’s a softcore, friendly version of our voyeuristic, pornographic culture that is accepted by too many. Consider the pressure felt by young girls these days to look ‘sexy’ even pre-puberty.

More than the actual content of the show, it is the reaction of my peers that devastates me at times. Sure, lingerie, fitness, beauty can all be empowering things to women. However, it is the default setting of so many women to say ‘oh, how depressing’ after viewing images of the Victoria’s Secret show, simply because they do not resemble these women. Whatever about the models, the women watching definitely don’t feel empowered.

We need to be more positive. We need to remind ourselves that ‘our’ reality is so far removed from ‘theirs’ – do you have time to work out for two hours daily? What is ‘en vogue’ and trending should not depress us or make us feel in any way inferior.

I don’t think any of the Angels want us to feel bad about ourselves, so why let them?

Who knew we could feel so much more than jealousy and inadequacy while watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show? They were the prime feelings – we are human after all – but there was so much more than that too…

Here is the emotional rollercoaster we went on while watching the VS Fashion Show last night:

1. When we really, really wanted to go…

2. And we heard that Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran AND Hozier would all be performing and we wouldn’t see it

3. When we heard that Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio were wearing bras worth $2million, and they didn't really look that impressive to be honest

4. And also realised those women have birthed four children between them

5. When we saw poor Ed Sheeran trying to keep it together during his set as the ladies strutted past him in their $2million bras

Here's the moment, in case you missed it…what a cutie. Concentrate, Ed!!

6. When Taylor took her love of short shorts to the next level – we didn’t even think it was possible!

7. When we realised Karlie Kloss is actually way taller than Taylor – this may in fact be the only way to tell them apart, so take note

8. When the Angels actually let us in on the secrets behind how they look so darn good (hint: It’s not Diet Coke and cigarettes!) Thank you, Angels

9. When we decided to shun our fourth (ok fine, fourteenth) Rose and googled the gyms in our area…sigh

10. Then said ‘ah feck it, it’s their JOB to look like that’. Your job is to eat the box of Roses. And you NEVER half-arse a job.
