Richard Madden has had quite a year, and it's only getting bigger following his stint as David Budd in the worldwide TV thriller The Bodyguard.
News has just emerged that the 32-year-old Scottish actor has received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance By An Actor In A Television Series – Drama.
He visited Ellen DeGeneres on her veteran show to discuss the breakout BBC hit, which is now on US Netflix and has been streamed constantly, as predicted.
Ellen is never one to hide away the shirtless photos of her male guests, and she continued her tradition of embarrassing her talk show visitors by addressing Madden's naked scenes in the show.
She asked the actor how his parents feel about his nudity as the bodyguard of the Home Secretary of Britain, and he replied that his parents are less than impressed with seeing his rear end on screen:
"I've made a few mistakes I've made in my time, one of which is neglecting to tell my mother that there's going to be a sex scene in my show," he told Ellen.
This would be fairly embarrassing TBH, most parents don't want to witness their loved ones wearing nothing on TV…and Richard's rents are no different:
"I get a hysterical phone call of "you must tell me and your father, I was watching it at the time with a cup of tea, I nearly spilled it!"", he laughed.
We're gonna throw in another Richard Madden gif for good measure:
You're welcome.
His mum certainly sounds exactly like any Irish mother, cup of tea and slightly judgemental tone paired with the casual Catholic shame… classic.
Sunday’s season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians saw Kim open up candidly about her husband Kanye West, following the rapper's turbulent declaration that "slavery was a choice".
Despite admitting that she was "hysterically crying" when she heard her 41-year-old husband say the quote, she claims that he is of sound mind and is even "doing good".
The Kardashian star will always have his back, it seems.
She spoke about the controversial hip-hop star's antics very openly;
“When he gets ramped up, he can’t control what he says — he can’t let it go,” she said. “He loves being ramped up."
He’s like, ‘I feel powerful when I’m ramped up. I don’t want to be so suppressed. Yeah, I say crazy s—, but I’ve always said crazy s—. That’s why I’m Kanye.'”
She insists, however, that his intentions are understandable to her as his wife;
“I always know what Kanye’s intentions are and what he’s trying to say, but I also know that they’re going to write a headline and people are going assume that that’s exactly what you said and what you meant,” she continued.
“He didn’t say slavery is a choice, he was saying, ‘If you’re going to still be enslaved for another 400 years, then that’s some bulls—.’ That, as a wife, is really frustrating to see the media take everything and run with it.”
The timing was extremely unfortunate; Kris Jenner was set to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show, who commented on the whole debacle.
“I just want to make everything better,” said Jenner, 63. “You know me. I want everybody to get along, I want everybody to be happy, I want everybody to understand one another, communicate.”
“Even thought Kanye went on TMZ this morning and made some controversial comments, my loyalty really lies with Kanye,” Jenner continued.
“It’s really my job to be there to support Kanye and be somebody in his life that offers him love and support and not criticism.”
Once the scandal was settled, Kim flew out to Wyoming to support Kanye at his album launch party.
“I am so excited to be in Wyoming for Kanye’s listening party,” she said. “After TMZ, Kanye changed his whole album. I’m just excited so many people came out to support him. … I’m glad that now we can just have fun, listen to the music and have a good time.”
“I obviously support him and will always, but he likes to speak for himself and I like to speak for myself,” she added. “As his wife, I just have to express how I feel and have those private conversations with him and help him better communicate what he has to say.”
Kim had also been working with the White House to attempt to commute 63-year-old Alice Maria Johnson's life sentence for a first time non-violent drug offence.
“My first phone call was to Ivanka [Trump]. I just felt like as a woman she would really feel for this woman the way that I connected with Alice,” Kim said. “She did and she connected me with her husband Jared Kushner, so I actually have a meeting with the president of the United States next week to discuss Alice Johnson.”
According to Kim, it was a "tricky" situation, as she disagrees with Donald Trump's polarising views.
“I’ve been so straightforward with Jared. I have different views, I was at Hillary Clinton fundraisers. So this might not be a popular opinion, but I’ll talk to whoever I need to talk to to get the job done.”
“I know we have one shot to plead our case. Knowing that someone’s life is in your hand, it’s a really scary feeling,” she added. “We have to just do justice by Alice.”
She then flew to Tennessee to meet Johnson in person, after Trump shockingly commuted her sentence.
“It’s just such a satisfying moment. To know that she’s been behind bars for 22 years and she’s now home — it’s really amazing,” she said. “Just seeing Alice with her huge family, it’s like me and my big family. If I couldn’t be with them for two decades, that would break my soul.”
“That’s what so many people don’t get. This has nothing to do with politics. F— politics,” she added. “I don’t really know anything. This is: Get in front of the person — the only person in the world that can make this decision — and try to change their mind.”
“Every time I think that I’ve had a crazy year, I live the next year and it’s even crazier. … On this journey of getting Alice out, I have learned so much about criminal justice is and really how messed up our system is,” Kim said.
"There’s so much that has to be done … now that that is in me, I can’t stop at Alice. There has to be so much more than I can do.”
The season wrapped up, the family reflected on the addition of three beautiful new grandchildren; Stormi, True and Chicago.
All in all, Keeping Up with the Kardashians displayed the crazy year which the clan has had, but the positivity which they have for each other was the most heartwarming aspect.
Bring on the next season, and even more drama, we say.
From her heartfelt dedication to beer baths to her teenage devotion to Harry Potter, the Australian actress is easily one of the most relatable in Hollywood.
But if you needed further proof of this, you need look no further than a recent anecdote she shared while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Breaking into guffaws countless times throughout her re-telling, Margot explained how her husband Tom spent an exercise session desperately hiding his modesty in front of an equally awkward Ellen DeGeneres, Portia DeRossi and Barack Obama… while on honeymoon.
Kim Kardashian has accidentally revealed the gender of her third child.
During an appearance on TheEllen DeGeneres Show, the reality star was speaking about the pink-themed baby shower she hosted over the weekend, when she unintentionally let the news slip.
A post shared by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on
"People brought toys and gifts and she was opening them all up the next day and she (North) said, ‘Mom, since baby sister’s not here, I think I need all of her toys in my room and I’ll play with them and just make sure they’re all okay for baby sister."
"You just told us it's a girl!" interrupted host Ellen.
Oops.
Meanwhile, Kim has opened up about using a surrogate to carry her third child, admitting that the lack of control has made the process “so much harder” than she originally expected.
Having already given birth to two children with husband Kanye West, the 37-year-old decided to opt for surrogacy after she was advised to not carry any more children for medical reasons.
Kim's difficult pregnancies where well documented on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and while surrogacy has definitely has helped the star keep her health in check, she admits she's been finding it difficult to adjust.
“You know, it is really different,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
“Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong. I think it is so much harder to go through it this way, because you are not really in control.”
Baby number three is expected to arrive in January 2018.
A young Irish teen has penned a song for her TV idol, Ellen DeGeneres, in the hope that she will be invited to perform on the US chat show.
Being such a huge fan of the show, 17-year-old Eimear O'Tuathail thought she'd chance her arm by composing a cheeky song to grab the attention of the much-loved TV host.
In the chorus, the Galway native tells Ellen how meeting her would be a 'dream come true.'
“Hey Ellen, got a second? Cause I've got something to say – you're my idol, you's make my dream come true if I could meet you.”
Speaking ot RTÉ Entertainment, Eimear said: "She’s really, really funny and every time I watch her show she never fails to make smile. She brings me a lot of joy. I spent a lot of time on the song and it would be great if she heard it.
"I’d love her to hear the song but the dream is to meet her and perform the song on her show. Then I think I’d cry! Hahaha."
And this isn't the fist time the talented performer has drawn inspiration from one of her heroes. Eimear went on to explain how an upsetting incident prompted her to express her emotion through music.
"There was a girl called Christina Grimmie who was a singer on You Tube but she was shot at a concert last summer," she says.
"That upset me so I decided to write a tribute to her which I also put up on You Tube so I suppose the Ellen song is not the first time I’ve done a tribute song."
Eimear has been writing and singing since the age of 12, and her style is often likened to that of Regina Spektor – though she's also a fan of Justin Bieber, Demi Lavato and Tori Kelly.
Hope you're listening Ellen – this girl is going all the way to the top!
If anyone can get her guests to open up and spill the tea, it's Ellen DeGeneres.
And while her effortless charm and open nature certainly contribute to her guests' candour, a little game called Never Have I Ever has its merits too.
With P!nk and Reese Witherspoon as the latest victims of the quickfire quiz normally reserved for pre-club drinking sessions, Ellen got the two A-listers to open up about everything from public sex to the trust they have in their partners.
And it turns out that when it comes to snooping through a significant other's phone, P!nk is as guilty as – ahem – the rest of us.
"All the time!" P!nk revealed. "I'm pretty sure he know though. The code changes alot."
For this and more of P!nk and Reese's exploits, we invite you to settle down for the latest version of Ellen's Never Have I Ever…
You've probably heard or seen the amazing mash-up of Adele songs performed by talented Irish musicians Ronan Scolard and Glenn Murphy, but if you haven't it's well worth a listen.
The Irish natives performed the songs beautifully in a YouTube video and thus the video took off with millions of people from all over the world stopping to listen to the heart-felt rendition of some of Adele's biggest hits.
It got so big that Adele herself got wind of the video and invited duo up on stage at one of her Dublin concerts to perform for her.
And the gorgeously humble and fun pair have been on a whirlwind ever since most recently jet-setting to LA to appear on the Ellen DeGeneres show.
The lads got to chat to the infamous co-host, perform their medley for American audiences and also received some amazing Ellen gifts.
Fair play to these two because they totally deserve it.
We saw an amazing Never Have I Ever game played with the boyos of One Direction on the Ellen DeGeneres show, but pairing up Rihanna with a clearly bemused George Clooney was a great call.
While George is out promoting his new Coen brothers film, Hail, Caesar!, Rihanna is also on the promotional bandwagon as she garners publicity for her new album ANTI.
And what better way to promote their various projects with a combined game of Never Have I Ever.
With questions such as "Never have I ever texted a nude selfie" and "Never have I ever hooked up with someone over 50", Ellen was certainly not holding back on the question front.
Later on in the show, George spoke about his marriage proposal to Amal.
"I plotted the whole thing out. I had the ring hidden behind her. I had music playing. Everything was planned out and I've cooked dinner. Usually she'll dress up, and now she's like, 'Maybe we'll just order in. And I go, 'No, no, no. I've made dinner,' " recalls the actor.
"Finally I blew out the candle and I said, 'I think the lighter's in the box behind you.' And she reaches around and she pulls out the box and I've got just the ring sitting in there and she pulls it out and she looks at it and she's like, 'It's a ring.'
"I got down on my knee and said, 'I couldn't imagine spending the rest of my life without you.' And she kept looking at the ring and she was looking at me and she was like, 'Oh, my God,'"
"Finally I literally said, 'Look, I hope the answers yes, but I need an answer I'm 52 and I could throw out my hip pretty soon.' And she said, 'Oh, yes.' "
Some political viewers were likely just expecting another speech from the presidential hopeful when she attended a convention over the weekend.
But we all got to see something much better!
Hillary attended the New Hampshire Democratic Party's annual convention and to our delight, the politician couldn't help but have a little fun as she walked the rope line.
Jennifer Lopez's classic hit single Let's Get Loud played in the background as she posing for photos with supporters and fans, but then Clinton started dancing – while of course, wearing one of her signature pantsuits.
It seems to us that Hillary wants to be known for her dance moves, as she's recently busted some moves with Ellen DeGeneres and also in a recent trip to Africa.
Many fans on Twitter recorded her little break-dance, which you can view here.
Who the hell has the nerve to block Hollywood royalty, Meryl Streep, out of a selfie…for the second time?! Emily Blunt and Anna Kendrick, that’s who!
The three gorgeous actresses appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where they discussed the famous Oscar selfie which pretty much broke the internet (Sorry, Kim!) and poor old Meryl opened up about how disappointed she was that she barely featured in it.
Ellen backed up Meryl and said: “The whole idea was I was going to get a selfie with Meryl and then everybody else jumped in and Meryl was barely in the selfie!”
So, in a bid to make it up to TheDevil Wears Prada star, the ever-hilarious Ellen huddled in with the three ladies and posed, but mischievous Emily and Anna couldn’t resist the opportunity to wind up Meryl and the pair blocked that Oscar-winner out of the snap like two bold kids!
Upon showing the selfie to the audience, Meryl pretended to be annoyed before breaking into gales of laughter and posing for yet another shot. Third time lucky, perhaps?!
Niamh Geaney sat down with chart toppers Sheppard who performed in Ireland as part of their European tour. This indie pop band all the way from Australia has dominated airwaves with their track Geronimo, even managing to knock Pharrell Williams' ‘Happy’ off the top spot in the charts. Our beloved Ellen De Generes is also a huge fan inviting the group to perform live on her chat show. Hear what the guys have to say on the Irish, touring with family and making it big in the US.
