Valentine's Day can either be the most swoon-worthy event in the calendar year for loved-up couples, or a Hallmark-card disaster for the broken hearted.

Whether you'll be heading on a candelit-dinner date with roses or cuddling up with your pet on the couch, we can all use a little romantic-comedy movie magic.

We've created a list of our film favourites for the loveliest day of the year…enjoy ladies.

doctor who dw GIF

1. Set It Up

Harper and Charlie, played by Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell, are plagued by cruel and hugely demanding bosses, until they decide to join forces and essentially trick them into falling in love with each other.

The biggest project of their young careers ensues, as their bosses will only fall for each other around their tight schedules, but will Harper and Charlie make a connection too?

Lucy Liu steals scenes as Kristen, Harper's insanely scary sports reporter boss. This movie is one of our favourite rom-coms ever, it somehow banishes clichés while remaining lovable at the same time.

2. To All The Boys I've Loved Before

The massively popular film is based on Jenny Han's trilogy, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and the Netflix movie caused quite the stir since its release.

Starring the adorable Lana Condor and Noah Centineo as teenagers who pretend to date in order to solve one young girl's letter-related disaster, you'll fall in love with this feature.

Lara Jean's love life goes from imaginary to out of control when the five love letters written privately to every boy she’s ever loved are mysteriously mailed out, despite the fact that they were hidden in her bedroom…

3. La La Land

Who could forget this stunning movie from Academy Award-nominee Damien Chazelle.

La La Land tells the breathtakingly beautiful story of Mia, an aspiring actress, and Sebastian, a dedicated jazz musician, struggle to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts.

The unique musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams; Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are unbelievable in their acting prowess and chemistry in this tale of love in LA.

4. Valentine's Day (of course)

Yet another American rom-com from veteran film-maker Gary Marshall; Valentine's Day shows a series of interconnected stories of L.A. residents (celebrities) who go through the highs and lows of love on Valentine's Day.

From first dates, long-time marriages, old flames and new crushes, the stories will melt your heart like Ben & Jerrys on the couch.

The all-star cast consists of Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Kathy Bates, Hector Elizondo, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Garner, Topher Grace, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, Anne Hathaway, Shirley MacLaine, Emma Roberts, and even Taylor Swift in her acting debut.

5. The Notebook

The Nicholas Sparks classic that has everyone reaching for the tissues, and which launched Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams from obscurity to stardom.

The pair also fell in love in real life while filming, so it's even more special.

Based in 1940s South Carolina, mill worker Noah falls for rich girl Allie but her parents force them apart. Noah leaves to serve in the second World War, and Allie finds love elsewhere. When Noah returns to their small town, their romance is far from over.

6. Crazy, Stupid, Love

Ryan Gosling just can't escape this round-up list, can he?

The hilarious and heart-warming film follows Cal, played by Steve Carell, as he undergoes a divorce from his wife Emily, played by Julianne Moore. Cal is still desperately in love with Emily, and his life is unravelling until he discovers Emily's infidelity.

Single at the age of 40, he finds Jacob (The charming Ryan Gosling), a handsome and youthful seducer who teaches Cal how to flirt with women again. Jacob is a bachelor of sorts, until his consistent co-star Emma Stone comes into the forefront. The pair really do sizzle on-screen together, but maybe it's just Ryan Gosling and anyone?

7. The Fault In Our Stars

Based on the critically-acclaimed YA book by John Green, the film follows Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley), a young teenager diagnosed with cancer.

The 16-year-old meets and falls in love with Gus Waters, played by Ansel Elgort, after meeting him in a cancer support group.

Gus uses his invitation to meet Hazel's favourite author, Peter Van Houten, and brings her to Amsterdam to meet the recluse. Their love story becomes entangles by health problems, with often tragic circumstances. This one's a certified tear-jerker.

8. About Time

With an Irish star, what's not to love?

Domhnall Gleeson stars as Tim, who discovers the family secret at 21-years-old; the men in their family can time-travel.

Tim resolves to change his life by getting himself a girlfriend, Mary. Rachel McAdams plays his love interest, who falls in love with him after time-travel ensues.

As life goes on, Tim figures out that his special ability can't save himself or those he loves from ordinary and mundane human problems.

9. P.S I Love You

The movie that led to Gerard Butler apologising for the butchering of an Irish accent; Hillary Swank plays his co-star and widow, who finds a series of messages that serve to guide her new life.

Starting on her thirtieth birthday, Holly Kennedy receives the first in a series of letters written by her late husband, designed to ease her grief and encourage her to move forward after his tragic death.

Parts of it are filmed in Ireland, with stunning scenery and endless romance from Cecelia Ahern's novel.

10. The Holiday

Normally watched at Christmas, The Holiday also serves as a perfect flick to watch on the most romantic day of the year.

It's got Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet swapping houses, it's got Los Angeles and English countryside scenery, sunshine and snow, Jack Black and Jude Law; basically everything.

Depressed and suffering from unrequited love, Iris agrees to swap homes with similarly unlucky-in-love Californian Amanda for a break. Of course, both lovelorn ladies bump into local lads and sparks fly. Utterly romantic…

11. Love, Rosie

We can't curate a list of love-themed films without including Love, Rosie.

Best pals Rosie and Alex have known each other decades, but are suddenly separated when Alex moves to America to pursue a dream.

Can their friendship survive the distance, as well as each of their own personal turbulent love stories? Tune in to see Sam Claflin and Lily Collins light up the screen.

12. Maid in Manhattan

Jennifer Lopez at her best.

The classic New York City-based flick follows a mother-of-one, Marisa Ventura, who lives in the boroughs and works as a maid in a top Manhattan hotel.

A twist of fate leads to her identity being mistaken for that of a wealthy socialite, and she meets Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), the heir to a political dynasty.

He has no idea who she really is, but the pair fall deeply in love. When her identity is revealed, their worlds couldn't be further apart. Will their love withstand?

We're in LOVE with this list, maybe we'll skip that date and just binge-watch all 11 of these in a row?

All we need is chocolate, candles and a fluffy pet to keep us warm for the perfect movie night.

Happy Valentine's Day gals, don't forget to treat yourselves.

Jennifer Lawrence has been absolutely loved UP with art dealer Cooke Maroney for almost a year, and her publicist announced the pair's engagement earlier this month.

We're delighted for the 28-year-old Oscar winning actress, but we're really just DYING to see the ring. J-Law has been photographed with it multiple times since the proposal, but today is the first time a high-resolution snap has been taken of the ring.

From grainy, distance pictures to a crystal clear image, we have Dior to thank for it. Lawrence was announced as the face of the brand seven years ago, and she appeared at their Paris Fashion Week show today sporting the dazzling rock on her finger.

The actress attended the Fall/Winter 2019 Dior presentation alongside famous faces like Cara Delevigne and Karlie Kloss, and showed off her new accessory.

Maroney's ring is minimal in design, with a large emerald-cut diamond hanging off the platinum band. It's arguably a more modern take on a classic combo, as the stone isnit centred on the band.

Lawrence wore the ring with a tailored A-line short dress and plaid heels for the event, and the ring is speculated to cost around $200,000. It's roughly four to five carats, so Maroney didn't come to play.

Andrew Fox, President of SuperJeweler.com, gave ELLE the lowest carat estimate for the engagement ring;

"Jennifer's ring, which is surprisingly modest, appears to be a three-to-four carat emerald shape diamond," he said. "While I'm certain that it's of very fine colour and clarity, Cooke Maroney most likely paid over $200,000." WOWZA.

She was first spotted wearing it while the couple were on a date in New York City at Raoul's in early February. "It was a giant rock," as a witness quoted at the time. "They seemed like they were celebrating and people were talking about it. The ring was very noticeable.” I mean, it's huge, so it's hard not to notice.

Lawrence was previously in relationships with Nicholas Hoult, Chris Martin and Mother! director Darren Aonofsky. This is her first engagement, but Lawrence opened up about marriage to Vogue in 2015;

"I can't wait to be married. I feel like if I find that one person who I want to spend the rest of my life with, who I want to be the father of my children, that I would absolutely not f*ck it up."

When asked about bridesmaids by Vanity Fair in 2016, interestingly she said; "Weddings rock, but… there needs to be a bridesmaids' union. It's horrendous… If I do ever get married, I don't think I will have bridesmaids. How can I rank my friends?"

We can't WAIT for this wedding, it's sure to be a big celebrity bash with many a famous face.

Emma Stone has been dating Saturday Night Live writer Dave McCary for over a year, but the pair have only just attended their first event together.

The couple posed for photos together at last nights 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, and also made sure to get a snap with her Aloha co-star Bradley Cooper.

The 30-year-old actress has been doing the rounds at awards ceremonies for her role in The Favourite, and sported a custom embroidered Louis Vuitton blouse with black trousers.

McCary looked dapper as f*ck in a black tuxedo alongside his gorgeous and talented date. The 33-year-old has been a segment writer for the hit comedy show for a number of years.

The duo were first rumoured to be dating in October 2017, but the pair were only snapped on a date recently at a basketball game together.

Stone and McCary originally met in December of 2016, after Stone hosted the show and starred in the Wells for Boys sketch that McCary directed.

Page Six then reported that the pair were quietly dating for three months, since JULY 2017. They kept that pretty hush hush didn't they? Minxes.

Stone has kept a low profile in the dating scene since her last high-profile relationship ended. Andrew Garfield and Stone split back in October 2015 after more than three years of dating, after starring in Spiderman together.

The actress and Garfield were still photographed hanging out together in London in 2016, after Stone flew over to visit him. Garfield has been linked to Rita Ora since November, though neither of them have confirmed the rumours.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR. Except in the oxygen surrounding us, that seems to have gone amiss…

Rita Ora has skilfully laughed off questions about her potential romance with Spiderman star Andrew Garfield, and we tip our hats to her wily ability to dodge 'em.

A source claimed late last year that the pair are "the real deal", but we hadn't heard much else.

Ora appeared on SiriusXM Hits 1 this morning, with a brave reporter 'innocently' asking; “Did you prefer Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield as Spider Man?” Nice one.

Ora knew exactly the game that was being played, and laughed it off; “You guys are really kicking. You’re making me wake up this morning. I don’t watch Spider Man. That’s my answer.”

The 28-year old singer and Garfield have reportedly been dating since October 2018, with a source telling The Sun: “Rita let slip to pals about her brewing romance about a month ago."

“But in recent days things have started to heat up and she says what they have is the real deal," the insider added.

“It is still very early days but they like each other and are seeing what happens. Their schedules make things difficult but they have a real connection," the source alleges.

Ora split from boyfriend Andrew Watt last year, and recently opened up about her boyfriend history, saying she “doesn’t have a type”.

She spoke to People about her love life; “I never know what I’m looking for. I don’t actually have a type, at all.”

Ora was also rumoured to have been connected to 2018 Love Island contestant Eyal Booker, but those rumours were dispelled by Eyal himself, despite saying he'd beg to date her.

When asked whether he'd ask her on a date, Booker joked: “Obviously I would, it’s not a thing.

I mean, she's one gorgeous lady.

Chrissy Teigen is the latest celebrity to have been essentially CANCELLED online, after offensive tweets from back in 2010 and 2011 surfaced which say some pretty dodgy stuff about self-harm, Lindsey Lohan and trans people.

The tweets have been met with outrage on the internet, with Twitter users getting the hashtag #ChrissyTeigenIsOverParty trending almost instantaneously.

The comments are from roughly eight years ago, but they reference the appearances of celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga and in particular Lindsay Lohan.

They are especially distasteful regarding the trans community, one of her tweets references Tyra Banks' talent search show America's Next Top Model;

"God. Can we just come out and call the freakin show ‘americas next top tranny’ because this shit has been transtastic for the past 5 years."

Another tweet references self-harm:

The word 'tranny' is used often on her account back in 2010 and 2011. The social media personality is half-Thai, and speaks about the perception of her country in terms of the trans community:

There are some more upsetting ones regarding slut-shaming sexually promiscuous women:

The mother-of-two has yet to comment on the matter, but we're sure she must regret not deleting her old, harmful tweets.

The model has become a major social media personality for her sassy remarks about Donald Trump, and has the crown of the 'Clapback Queen' and 'Queen of Twitter'.

We highly doubt she'll manage to keep her crown after this.

What do you think, should she be cancelled? Or will you give her another chance?

One of our favourite films of all time is being remade, and the cast could not be more perfect!

We all watched the 1994 version of Little Women, starring Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon and Kirsten Dunst. It was one of those films we watched to get out of reading the book for school, but we ended up actually loving it.

Winona stole our hearts as the spirited Jo, who strained for independence and leaned on her sisters when life got tough. The movie adaptation was a heartwarming tale of sisterhood, romance, war, identity, and family.

Then last year, BBC’s mini-series took a new perspective on Louisa May Alcott’s classic. Each actor adhered to the book’s interpretation of them: Maya Hawke, playing Jo, strived to illuminate her character’s imperfections, Willa Fitzgerald showed Meg’s journey was one of self acceptance, and Annes Elwy embodied Beth’s social anxiety in a real and moving depiction.

Now, rumours of a modern interpretation of Little Women are spreading, and the word is that it will begin filming next month, according to Variety.

Allegedly, Emma Watson has been approached by Sony for a role, and although it is unknown which March sister she will play, her shorter hair and fiery Hermione attitude suggest she would be the perfect Jo. However, her poised and determined role of Belle as a romantic could suggest she would make an excellent Meg.

The Harry Potter star is said to be replacing Emma Stone, who was originally asked to be part of the film but had to turn the offer down due to filming clashes with Fox Searchlight film The Favourite.

The upcoming drama will be directed by Lady Bird’s Greta Gerwig. It will also star Meryl Streep, Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Laura Dern, and Florence Pugh.

As of now, the film’s release date is sometime next year, and we cannot wait to see it!

Stay tuned for an upcoming trailer as more of the classic movie’s details are confirmed.

Lady Bird stars Saoirse Ronan and Timotheé Chamalet will join forces again for a remake of one of the best novels.

The duo are set to star in Greta Gerwig's adaption of the beloved Louisa May Alcott book Little Women.

Variety reported that Meryl Streep, Emma Stone Florence Pugh will also join the Lady Bird actors in the remake.

Little Women follows the lives of the March sisters -Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy- and their mum during the Civil War. Their father is away at war and the family face many difficult times, but their sisterly bond helps them get through the highs and lows of teenage life.

The four sisters travel down different paths and soon realise that growing up isn’t as easy as they once thought it would be.

Saoirse Ronan recently gushed about her love for coming-of-age movies, so this will be the perfect fit for her.

She told RTÉ Entertainment about her love of movies similar to The Breakfast Club and Lady Bird.

“I loved things like Rebel Without a Cause and Dirty Dancing. Lots of films that, I suppose, were about a young person figuring out who they were in the world. That seemed to be what I was really drawn to,” Saoirse expressed.

There’s no doubt in our minds that Gerwig’s adaption of Little Women will win the hearts of fans across the globe, especially with such an impressive cast.

We cannot wait to hear more about it!

She honoured the Times Up campaign by wearing a stunning black dress to last night’s Golden Globes, but there was something extra special about Emma Stone’s makeup look from the award ceremony.

The Oscar winner’s makeup artist shared a stunning photo of her makeup look with her Instagram followers, captioned, “This woman’s strength and beauty truly know no bounds. #emmastone heading to the #goldenglobes red carpet tonight. Emerald green eyes and violet stained lips.”

The Battle of the Sexes star wore violet lipstick and emerald green eyeshadow for the most empowering reason. Her makeup artist Rachel Goodwin revealed that Emma’s look was inspired by the Suffragette movement.

She shared, “Tonight my beauty inspiration came from the symbolic colours of the women’s suffrage movement. I wanted to create a makeup that would somehow be imbued with the message of female empowerment and solidarity.”

The makeup artist explained that Emma wore purple as it symbolises the royal blood that flows through the veins of every Suffragette.

She added that purple stood for their, “instinct for freedom and dignity, white stands for purity in private and public life.”

The La La Land star rocked the most stunning green eye-shadow which symbolised hope, which was one of the main themes of last night’s event.

Alongside Emma, hundreds of Hollywood stars hoped to raise awareness by wearing black on the Golden Globes red carpet.

Nicole Kidman, Viola Davis, Chris Hemsworth, Emilia Clarke, Reese Witherspoon, Zac Efron, the cast of Stranger Things all wore black in honour of the Times Up campaign.

We love how Emma used something as simple as makeup to spread an empowering and important message!

Move over Jennifer Lawrence, there's a new queen bee in town.

Emma Stone has just been named as Hollywood's highest-paid actress.

After raking in an eye-watering $26,000,000 over the last 12 months, Emma Stone has secured her place at the top of Forbes' annual 'rich list.'

Following her award-winning performances in La La Land and Birdman, Emma's earnings rose by a whopping 160 per cent last year, making her 2016's highest-paid actress.

The news comes after the star recently spoke out against Hollywood's gender pay gap, revealing that some of her male co-stars would take pay cuts in the interest of equality.

“In my career so far, I’ve needed my male co-stars to take a pay cut so that I may have parity with them,” she said.

“And that’s something they do for me because they feel it’s what’s right and fair. That’s something that’s also not discussed, necessarily: that our getting equal pay is going to require people to selflessly say, ‘That’s what’s fair.’”

Jennifer Lawrence, who topped the list in 2016, came in at third place, while Jennifer Aniston came second (largely due to endorsement deals).

Coming in sixth place was Emma Watson, who was the only British born actress to make the top 10.

Can you believe it's been over 10 years since Tina Fey gifted the world with what is arguably her most glorious creation – Mean Girls.

Once in a generation, a movie will come along that will completely change how we speak to and interact with each other, and let's be real, no script has managed to steal the Mean Girls crown just yet.

To be honest, we're not sure it anything could knock it off it's pedestal.

Unless…

Mean Girls sequel anyone?

And no, we're not talking about that 2011 Meaghan Martin version.

We're talking original cast, original writers, and a whole new catalogue of quotes to casually slip into your daily vocabulary.

Unfortunately, there's nothing in the pipeline just yet, but a recent Instagram post by Lindsay Lohan has led some fans to believe that the star might be interested in reviving her old role.

In a post directed at actress, Emma Stone, Lindsay wrote: "Can we film a movie called Mean Girls 2 together? I think we would be friends. It would be #sofetch"

She has since taken down the original Instagram post, but lucky for us, the evidence still remains on Twitter.

Raise your hand if you're personally on board!

As most fans of Emma Stone would know, the much-loved actress has spent much of her life navigating an anxiety disorder.

And in an effort to share her experience with fellow sufferers, the La La Land actress teamed up with Child Mind Institute, and revealed that her coping mechanism hinges on her abiility to acknowledge the fact that anxiety ebbs and flows.

“It’s so nice to know that, in those moments of real intensity, it will shift, and it will change, and there’s a lot that I can do to help myself," she said.

When asked what she would tell her younger self when dealing with anxiety, she said: "Life goes in stages and it has always been something that I've lived with and flares up in big ways at different times in my life."

"But sometimes while it's happening when I'm in a phase of real turmoil or the anxiety is very strong and it feels like it's never going to end, but it does."

Emma reminded sufferers that she has learned how to manage the condition and encouaged them to seek tools which enable them to deal with it as well.
