Bodyguard has become the BBC's first series to be nominated for an Outstanding Drama Series Emmy in nearly 50 years, but it's star was snubbed in the Best Actor drama category.

The actor played the role of David Budd, war veteran turned head of security for controversial British Home Secretary Julia Montague, played by Keeley Hawes.

Madden picked up the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Drama Series, beating Ozark‘s Jason Bateman, Stephan James (Homecoming), Pose's iconic Billy Porter and Matthew Rhys (The Americans).

It's fair to say that fans are absolutely livid over the former Game of Thrones actor's snub, and are demanding answers…

Critic Scott Feinberg of the Hollywood Reporter pointed out in a tweet how odd it was to see the show nominated without Madden getting a nod when he was in pretty much every scene.

Madden received great reviews for his recent appearance in Elton John biopic Rocketman, and was even named one of 2019’s 100 Most Influential People by Time magazine…So why the rudeness?

Critic Philiana Ng of Entertainment Tonight agreed with the fans about the shocking omission, using Madden's image as a meme to show her dismay;

Twitter user Katy wrote; "Golden Globe Winner Richard Madden snubbed of an Emmy nomination just doesn’t sit right with me at all.

"He put his heart and soul into making 360 minutes of television & delivered one of the most breathtaking performances I’ve ever seen and then doesn’t even get nominated." DAMN RIGHT.

Some even resorted to using Emmy-nominated Kit Harington to emphasise their sadness;

The star gave his all when it came to his performance as David Budd, who suffers from PTSD from his time serving in the British army in Afghanistan.

The thriller aired in the US on Netflix but was originally produced by ITV-owned producer World Productions for the British public broadcaster.

As well as Bodyguard's Outstanding Drama Series nomination, creator Jed Mercurio also picked up a nomination for Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series for the pilot.

Game of Thrones leads the Emmy Awards nominations, setting a new record with a whopping 32 total nominations.

Brilliant Phoebe Waller-Bridge BBC show Fleabag landed 11 nominations, including a Lead Actress nod for the writer/actress, whose show Killing Eve also received multiple nominations.

Bodyguard is expected to return for season two, with Mercurio saying he was “optimistic” about its chances of a renewal. All we want right now though, is Justice For Richard.

Big Little Lies season one had us absolutely GRIPPED with the underlying tension and complex relationships, not to mention the stellar acting from stars like Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Laura Dern and Nicole Kidman.

We can't get enough of the Monterey mums and their crazy tale, and jumped for joy when HBO commissioned a season two with seven new episodes. Oh, and MERYL STREEP. *Weeps*

The sophomore series is due to premiere on June 9, 2019 and the first-look images are ridiculously intense. It looks like plenty of confrontations will take place, and epiphany moments.

The teaser shows plenty of screaming, which proves weirdly entertaining. Meryl is seen throwing some world class shade at the end, playing the role of Perry's mother. If you've forgotten, Perry is six feet under after his abuse escalated and he was pushed down the steps by Bonnie.

We just KNOW that Meryl is going to bring something special to the show. Perry's mum arrives in town with plenty of questions about her son's death.

Nicole Kidman shared the first picture of Mary Louise Wright (Meryl's character) last August, alongside Celeste's "darling boys." What are they looking at, we wonder? Perry's mum and Madeleine also appear to have a showdown.

Reese and Meryl were seen filming a scene involving an ice cream cone being thrown in Los Angeles; basically Madeleine hurls the cone at Mary Louise. They both appear to be fiery characters, and it's unsurprising that they clash.

The show finally has it's own Instagram account, so we're guessing that it'll be riddled with BLL hints about the new season fairly soon. Currently, it's just a grid of videos and gallery posts about the cast.

A new director is also attached to the project: Andrea Arnold. Every episode of season one was directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, but he was quoted saying, "If we do a season 2, we’ll break a beautiful thing and spoil it."

He decided not to do season two, basically. Arnold previously worked on episodes of Transparent and the Oscar-winning short film Wasp.

News also broke that This Is Us and American Horror Story actor Denis O'Hare is set to become a regular cast member for season two. His role is yet to be described though, we're waiting.

It also looks like all the OG members of the Monterey Mom patrol are returning. Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman will also return as executive producers (girl power) and Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley and Zoë Kravitz are reprising their cast roles.

Rumour has it, Alexander Skarsgård could be back? The actor won a Golden Globe, an Emmy and a SAG Award for his incredible portrayal of Celeste's abusive husband, Perry. Though he's definitely dead (thank you, stairs)…he could appear in flashbacks.

Celeste's husband could still appear in her nightmares. Executive producer Bruna Papandrea recently responded “not that I know of” when asked if Alexander will return.

Alexander has also teased, “I don’t even know if I’m really dead or not. I feel okay right now, but we’ll see.” He's keeping the option open, it would seem.

Liane Moriarty is the author of the book, Big Little Lies. She also wrote the story for season two, despite never publishing a sequel to the book. The season one showrunner and writer David E. Kelley is also returning.

Word on the street is that Bonnie's parents show up to stir trouble. In April 2018, the Hollywood Reporter broke everyone's hearts by claiming Zoë’s real-life VIP parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet will not play Bonnie’s parents on BLL.

Crystal Fox plays Elizabeth Howard, and Martin Donovan (Weeds) will portray Bonnie's father, Martin. Bonnie will struggle to process what she did to Perry, and it has an important emotional link to her past. Deadline reports that Perry's death drags up unsavoury memories from her childhood.

Renata is also due to have a few alterations to her marriage, according to Deadline.

Good news: a hot, "offbeat" surfer hits up Monterey. Give a warm round of applause to actor Douglas Smith, who will play Corey Brockfield. The character is an “aspiring marine biologist” and Jane’s (Shailene) co-worker. Romance alert?

The Canadian actor has worked on The AlienistCSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Big Love. All we know about him is that he looks damn good on the beach.

The cast are getting some TASTY pay raises (#TimesUp). ABC News reported in April 2018 that the cast will get increases for the season season.

Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming told THR in a different interview that this was a “direct result” of the Time’s Up movement, so clap clap to Reese for that;

“One of the things that’s come out of thinking about the movement and some conversations with Reese, who’s really at the forefront, is something we’ve done recently. We’ve proactively gone through all of our shows- in fact, we just finished our process where we went through and made sure that there were no inappropriate disparities in pay, and where there were, if we found any, we corrected it going forward.”

THR claimed in January of last year that Nicole and Reese, who produce the show, will earn $1 million per episode on season two, compared to $250,000 to $350,000 per episode on season one.Did someone say, "glow up"?

Their children's school will get a brand new teacher at Otter Bay Elementary. Mo McRae, of Pitch fame, will play Michael Perkins; a second grade teacher who causes Renata's daughter to have panic attacks about the environment.

HBO confirmed that P. J. Byrne will reprise his role as the school’s principal last May, and Poora Jagannathan (GypsyThe Night Of) will play a new character named Katie Richmond. We're assuming she's a mum, but nothing's been set in stone.

Meryl has been having a WHALE of a time on set with the ladies, even going group bowling with the cast. Nicole Kidman is set to create more projects with Liane Moriarty, specifically her upcoming book Nine Perfect Strangers.

Nicole has bought the film and tv rights, so we're in for a treat. We have no word on whether or not there'll be a Big Little Lies season three. BLL creator and executive producer Kelley has said,

“It’s one and two, and we like our closure with season two, but that will probably be it.” Nicole seemed to disagree, saying, “There’s no plan for it to end, specifically. This was a long shoot for us, and it was an enormous amount of work, and we’re just amazed that we can be here.” Hmmm

Production wrapped in August of 2018, and we're predicting big things…especially after seeing Perry's mother/Meryl say:

“I want to know what happened that night” while the camera pans to the ladies in a lineup at the police station.

The excitement is officially building: only 40 days left to wait.

Queen of social media, Chrissy Teigen, has raised a vitally valuable question about the differences of interviewing men and women.

The world has a pop culture fascination with Chrissy and her husband John Legend's relationship; they're both witty, socially aware and created ADORABLE children.

However, there's taking an interest in their family life, because they do share quite a lot with their following, but there's also taking questions way too far.

Chrissy revealed this week that John constantly gets asked, "How do you deal with your wife", and we are not happy.

She tweeted a thread about the type of questions her husband gets asked in interviews, and it just seems like some MAD double standards to us;

"I feel like a very common question when interviewing john is basically “how do you deal with your wife” and … I don’t love it." We wouldn't love it either, because she would never get asked how she deals with John.

She elaborated on the question and how she feels about it, and it's relatable as always.

"It happens a lot. “Does she ask you if certain things are okay to say?” …it’s just very weird to me," she said.

"No. He doesn’t. I don’t care. and he doesn’t care. End of question." she tweeted, continuing the thread. Shut that sh*t down, Chrissy. Asking how you "deal" with your wife implies that she's difficult to live with, and causes hassle in his career.

Chrissy has her own illustrious career, and yet never gets asked the same question about her husband.

"He usually does the standard “No…she knows what she’s doing…” but it’s not even that. It’s just that I am a different human than him? It is the most common question with him. Please stop."

Rightfully so, Chrissy said John usually shuts the question down fairly easily, but emphasised that she's actually a different person than him with her own life and goals, who isn't just tied to him while he goes out and earns.

She concluded;

"I’m not mad at anyone who has asked this. I get that we are very different. It happens a lot though and I’m just not very into it. You don’t ask me how I deal with watching MSNBC every night or what I do while he’s silent for a week."

Damn straight, Chrissy. They're basically implying that she's mouthy and loud and controls the voice in the household, and how does he COPE with that as a husband?

Teigen isn't afraid of using her social media platform and sharing her opinions on mum-shaming, body-shaming, IVF, postpartum depression and the political situation in America right now.

Translation:

By asking John Legend but not Teigen about his coping mechanisms when it comes to his partner, the basic tone of the question is that it must be a hardship to be married to an outspoken woman, we think.

*Eye roll* The man has an EGOT (An Emmy, several Grammys, an Oscar and a Tony) and THAT'S the most common question he gets asked? How does it feel being married to an opinionated and thoughtful lady?

We can think of far more complex things to ask the hugely successful musician, to be honest, that don't involve the notion of a woman using her voice for empowerment. They're separate humans with separate careers, people.

Anyone who's everyone watched Friends back in the day. It remains one of the most popular shows of all time, spanning 10 seasons and earning millions of viewers per episode.

The lead actors became stars overnight after the show began airing in the early 1990s, and it's no surprise they wanted to keep some mementos after a decade of working on the project together.

Lisa Kudrow has shared a photo of the gift which Matthew Perry gave her after they wrapped up filming, and it's UNREAL.

Matthew bagged Monica's cookie jar for Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay on the classic sitcom. The instantly recognisable prop now sits in the star's home, where she probably puts her granny's infamous Nestlé cookies.

The 55-year-old showed the jar to her 1.6 million followers on Instagram, and Friends fans freaked out, as predicted. She captioned the snap; "My wrap gift from Matthew Perry…”ooh, look at the time, I’ve gotta go.”" BLESS HER.

Lisa had previously explained the tale behind Matthew's choice of present to Comedy Central.

Image (without circle): Comedy Central UK

"It’s this cookie jar that was in Monica and Rachel’s apartment, and there’s a clock face on it,’ she began. "He gave it to me because… I had a scene where I was supposed to say, “Ooh, look at the time, I gotta go!”" she said.

"Well, I wasn’t wearing a watch. Because we’d rehearsed it but no one thought about it. As we were shooting, and the audience was there… it was coming up and I was like, uh oh, I’m about to say, “Look at the time.” I don’t see a watch… there’s no clock anywhere…"

She continued the story;

"So I point to the cookie jar and say, “Look at the time, I gotta go!” So afterwards Matthew Perry went, “Did you point to the cookie jar and say ‘look at the time’?” It was the dumbest fix, so lame… and then David Crane came over and said “what are you looking at?”’

"It was so stupid of me… that’s my fix! He asked Warner Bros, he got special permission and he gave that to me." Awww, gowan Matthew. What a great pal.

Matt LeBlanc was also asked about props which he stole on the show, and he revealed he took the Magna Doodle on the back of Chandler and Joey's door for an electrician who drew the artwork for every episode;

LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbiani on the show, also revealed that he keeps the foosball from Chandler and Joey's foosball table in his tool kit.

We'd probably have tried to leave the show with the entire of Monica Geller's apartment and the contents of Rachel's wardrobe.

We absolutely love all of these nostalgic on-set Friends stories, give us more please?

Hollywood history has just been made.

Sandra Oh is the first Asian actress to earn an Emmy nomination for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

And we are chuffed for her, to say the least.

Oh is nominated for her role as agent Eve Polastri in BBC America’s spy drama, Killing Eve.

Nominations for the 70th annual Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday, July 12th.

Along with Oh, the lead actress category includes Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Claire Foy (The Crown), Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld), Keri Russell (The Americans), and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black).

However, this is not Sandra's first Emmy nod. She has racked up a fab five Emmy nominations as Best Supporting Actress for her role as Cristina Yang in Grey’s Anatomy.

Sandra has spoken in the past about how important representation is on television.

She gave an interview to Elle magazine where she discussed how this is such a pivotal time in Hollywood right now.

A post shared by Sandra Oh (@iamsandraohinsta) on

''I realised how deep the internalization was. I’ve done a lot of work, I’ve worked consistently; and in that moment, 30 years into working this industry, it really rocked me.”

“That is how challenging it is: It’s not just, ‘I can’t get a audition,’ because that’s true, but it’s also internal. That’s still the dragon that I am trying to mount and ride,'' she added.

Social media was understandably excited for Sandra, with one user tweeting, ''Sandra Oh is a hero who created the legendary Cristina Yang. After Grey’s Anatomy she didn't’t receive any decent offers for four years. She’s never won an Emmy. No Asian actress has. She’s deserves it.''

Let's hope that Sandra takes home the gong at the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, which are taking place on September 17th.
