Predrag Jovanovic, a 34-year-old Serbian man is looking for love.

He’s been using Facebook in his quest for a girlfriend, and has sent out 5,000 messages to women. However, only 15 replied, and they all said no.

“I got only 15 responses and they were all negative. All 15 politely refused to be my girlfriend, while the rest of them simply ignored me. When someone ignores you that is the worst thing of all.”

He says he has to use Facebook because, “It is so very hard to meet women face to face these days. Those who go to bars or clubs are usually attached, those you meet perhaps by chance in the street don’t want to know because they paint you as a weirdo if you try to talk to them.

“Facebook seemed the perfect way to try to sell myself to these girls. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out as I planned.”

Oh Predrag, we do feel sorry for you, but Facebook isn’t a dating site – if we got a message from a random guy looking for a date, we’d say no too! He needs to get himself on Tinder!

27-year-old mum Danielle Saxton was arrested for sharing Facebook photos of herself wearing a dress she had shoplifted mere hours earlier.

The pregnant woman then shared images of herself wearing the stolen item on her Facebook page, where the store soon noticed.

The shop owner, Kert Williams, made a plea in relation to the stolen goods on the shop’s Facebook page, where he was soon tipped off about Danielle’s new photos.

The shop owner then called police, who arrested Danielle at her home, Police Chief Shawn Talluto said: “We just had a description and a direction of travel, but when the social media aspect played into it, we were able to identify who it was … When you put something out there, it’s a matter of minutes before it can go viral, and it can go to the world.”

Shakira is officially the most liked person on Facebook after becoming the first person ever to reach 100 million likes!

The superstar hit the staggering social media milestone yesterday and was delighted with the news.

“I am honoured and humbled about reaching this milestone,” the 37-year-old Colombian singer said. “Social media and specifically Facebook has helped myself and other artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience.”

To mark her achievement, Shakira posted a video of her most important Facebook moments since joining the social network in 2008. The video includes pictures of her album covers, her baby bump and glimpses of her son, Milan.

She also posted a video thanking fans for their support.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was clearly impressed with Shakira’s popularity, writing “‘Congrats!” in a comment on her page. He added, “What an amazing milestone for an amazing person.”

The only other page to have more likes than Shakira is Facebook’s own brand page.

WOW!

Shakira has been in the spotlight recently thanks to her official video for her new World Cup 2014 song.

Congrats Shakira!  It must be lovely to be so well liked, and we’re not jealous AT all!

Facebook have come under fire after it was revealed that the social media giant conducted an experiment on 700,000 users without them knowing, and they didn’t have to get their permission as the experiment fell under their data use policy.

The company wanted to test to see if they could influence our moods by changing the algorithm of the site for one week in July 2012. They either removed all the happy posts from your timeline, or removed all the sad and angry ones.

Christian Sandvig, an Associate Professor of Communication Studies and Information at the University of Michigan said that the experiment was not ethical, and tweeted: “*Probably* nobody was driven to suicide #jokingnotjoking”

Hmmm… sounds a bit dodgy to us. Though we were interested to find out the results! The researchers found that emotions actually are contagious: “When positive expressions were reduced, people produced fewer positive posts and more negative posts; when negative expressions were reduced, the opposite pattern occurred”.

How do you feel about Facebook playing with your emotions?

Most single gals dread the moment they’re asked about their relationship status.

And some cheeky so-and-so’s go as far as to ask WHY you’re single – to which you list work commitment, toxic exes, ‘standards’ and just generally revelling in your single fabulousness!

Well, now a new Facebook button lets your friends ask you if and WHY you’re single, and vice versa!

The ‘ask’ button appears on the profiles of users who have left their relationship status blank.

Once you’re sent an ‘ask’ request, you’ll receive a notification that says: ‘Hello! I am wondering about your relationship!’

You can either ignore it or respond, with the option of sending it back to you directly or sharing it with the general public.

While the social media site has had an option to ‘ask’ for a friend’s phone number, address and email for a while now, the relationship status ‘ask’ button is a new development – and not everyone is happy about it.

One person wrote on Twitter, “If Facebook wasn’t already the biggest invasion of privacy, you can now “ask” people about their relationship status.”

Others called it ‘naggy’ with one person writing, “How awkward is that Facebook devoted a single button to ask your friends why they’re single?”

Hmmmm…we’re not sure how we feel about this ourselves!

Notice a certain decrease in your Facebook friends recently? Well, here are just a few of the possible scenarios that probably got you unfriended in the first place.

School friends
Let’s face it, you two haven’t seen each other in over seven years so, is it really that surprising? If your honest with yourself you’ve no interest with what’s going in their lives and if they hadn’t unfriended you in the first place, well you probably would have sooner or later.

Too many friends
Nothing personal but, this person simply had too many Facebook friends and unfortunately you didn’t make the cut.

Different opinions
It can happen and in the long run you’re probably better off, as you’re only going to get into nasty commentary debates on Facebook that never end well.

Post too much
This can be a common sign that you might be spending too much time online? There’s nothing wrong with expressing yourself but, posting every five minutes will definitely give someone cause to block you from their newsfeed or remove you altogether.

 Vaguebooking
If you can’t talk about something on Facebook, then it’s probably best you don’t post a vague, annoying status about it.  Because nothing annoys your Facebook friends more, than Vaguebooking.

Do you suddenly feel a fever coming on when someone sneezes on you on the bus? Do you refuse to kiss your boy when he’s got the sniffles and avoid that sickly martyr colleague like the plague?

Well, this app may be your dream come true!

The Sickweather app promises to calculate exactly how many people in the immediate area to you are ill – supposedly so you can then douse yourself in hand sanitizer and run for your life!

Sickweather culls its information from public Facebook statuses as well as tweets in which people moan about being sick.

Areas can also be monitored by type of illness – with users getting a map that shades in ‘high risk’ areas.

Users can click into one of the app’s categories to see where, in real time, people are suffering from a specific kind of illness around them.

The app also encourages ‘health accountability’, by letting people self-report an ailment – which is then added to the sick map.

Since launching in November, Sickweather has been named the ‘Best New App’ by Apple in the health and fitness category.

Its co-founder and CEO Graham Dodge helped launch a similar online map in 1998 that helped plot out crime activity.

We’re not sure if there’s any sure-fire way to escape away those nasty bugs, but it can’t hurt…right?

Paul Walker’s girlfriend, Jasmine Pilchard Gosnell has been revealed to be attending grief counselling following her boyfriend’s tragic death in 2013.

Jasmine’s father, Casey revealed he had to put the 23-year-old in counselling, as she was unable to imagine a life without the actor, who died in a car crash five months ago.

“I have her in grief counselling. You have to understand that she is still terribly wounded by Paul’s death and will be for a long time.”

Jasmine has never spoken publically of Paul’s death but recently posted a worrying cryptic status on Facebook.

“I walk the streets of one.”

Jasmine met Paul when she was 16 but the 17 year gap was never a problem in their relationship. She was even a step-mom to Paul’s daughter, Meadow.

Casey said that Jasmine wasn’t ready to speak openly about Paul’s death or her relationship with him but after counselling, it could be a possibility.

“Maybe one day she’ll be ready to talk about Paul but she’s not there yet. She’s trying to deal with her loss – it’s been very hard for her. But she has her family and we’re trying to help and support her as much as we can.”

It is hard to admit, but a lot of us cannot bear to be without our phones. Some might say your phone is a replacement for that best friend, boyfriend or girlfriend. Whatever it may be there is no denying that you get anxious and angry without it. Here are 13 signs your phone is the best friend you’ll ever have.

1. It is the first thing you check in the morning
From the second you wake up, five apps will be on repeat in your head: ‘Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat.” You will amuse yourself for the next hour or so catching up with all you missed the 8 hours you were sleeping.

2. You freak out daily when you can’t find it
If there is ever a moment you can’t find your phone, you freak out. “Whereeee is itt???.” “Mum ring my phone PLEASE.” Even though you know it’s somewhere in the house, and you are most likely sitting on it, you are terrified for those few minutes.

Feeling down? Not in the best form? Not to worry, a quick game of Candy Crush and Angry Birds will solve all your problems.

7. You panic when it is low on battery
You will go to the ends of the earth to find a charger. You will even go buy one if you are too far from your house to retrieve it. You simply cannot live without it and you will never have to.

8. You cry more when you lose your phone than when you fail an exam
Losing your phone is the worst possible thing that could happen to you. It makes you anxious, sad and numb to just think about it. Yes, it is dramatic but this is how we feel. Not to worry as it is insured but the week of waiting could kill you.

9. You can take selfies
You love a good selfie and your phone’s front camera helps you do that. You can take 1,000 photos and it won’t say a word. In fact, it enjoys you taking them and even lets you edit them.

10. It doesn’t judge you
You can do whatever you want and it will never judge you. It will always be there for you through thick and thin. It never lets you down and it never tells you what to do.

11. It talks to you but only when you want it to
If you’re ever in doubt, no worries because Siri is there. Siri will tell you what the weather will be like, where the nearest McDonalds is and when you have your doctors appointment. And when you don’t want to speak anymore, you simply say goodbye and no feelings are hurt.

12. It let’s you text whoever you want
There is no jealousy here. You can text 100 people at once and no judgement or arguments. They want you to explore life. That’s why you have Tinder.

13. You can erase memories
If you drunk-text that guy for the 15th time or need to erase an ex’s photos, you can. Once the message is deleted no one will see it. It is free therapy and “if it’s not there no one has seen it.”

A recent study carried out by journal, Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking, found that couples who use Twitter a lot tend to fight more.

The study was carried out by asking people in a relationship how much time they spend on Twitter and if they have ever emotionally cheated using the social media medium.

It was found that long-term and short-term couples are equally affected by their use of Twitter unlike Facebook which doesn’t impact long-term relationships as much.

The research was carried out on 581 Twitter users in a relationship who were asked how often they use Twitter as well as questions regarding their relationship.

Hmm, looks like you may want to stick with Facebook if you are in your relationship for the long haul!
