It's that time of year when the hot spring looks from the runway will start hitting the high street (and your wallet!)

However, the fashion gods and trendsetters don't always get it right…

Fashion is meant to be fun but, every so often, a trend pops up that's just weird, unwearable or bizarre.

The jury is out on these five new S/S '17 trends…let us know what you think!

1. The corset belt

These look amazing on Kylie Jenner and co., but can a mere mortal wear them?

They kind of remind us of 2008, and that's never a good thing…

2. Off-the-shoulder bomber jacket

Off-the-shoulder tops: cute; bardot dresses: even cuter.

Off-the-shoulder bomber jackets, though?! More than slightly impractical, and they make us feel uncomfortable just looking at them.

Sure you'd catch your death in that!

Much needed off-the-shoulder everything. Especially the bomber jacket! #embroidery #ootd #getthelook #ontrend

3. Ginormous earrings

These bring new meaning to the phrase "Girl, hold my earrings!"

Even Beyoncé wouldn't go in for these, and she's fond of a chandelier or two…

4. Juicy Couture leisurewear

No, we can't return to that pre-recession life. Diamanté tracksuits will never, ever be "retro".

Thanks for nothing, Kylie. This is not "juicy", this is very bad…

5. Ruffles on jeans

Frills and ruffles are everywhere this year, but we think they look best on sleeves, shoulders and dainty dresses.

Jeans with ruffles give us nightmares; let's leave them to the seven-year-olds.

Feeling a little tired of wearing the same old pair of dark trousers with that fitted jacket? Or that dull, fall-back dress that you just can't seem to get rid of?

Well then, it's time to wave goodbye to blacks and greys, giving January a stylish injection of spring-time colour.

Paying homage to upcoming and vintage trends alike, these trailblazers are at the top of our list when it comes to inspo.

Fashion gals, we feel your pain.

It's that time of the year when it's too cold to wear bare legs with a skirt, yet, tights are basically your arch nemesis.

They're itchy, scratchy, awkward and they bring back memories of your mother pulling them up on you before school – something we all really hated (no wonder we got so many holes in ours).

Well, we're here to tell you that they can actually look really cool, and all you need is a killer outfit to team them with.

Here's a bit of inspo to get your tight-wearing self off to a great start:

Style Notes: A pair of sheer or light-coloured tights is a fun way to offset an otherwise mostly black look. If you're feeling the leather vibes this season, tone it down with a pair like this.

Red is the colour of the moment, with Valentines Day just around the corner and Kylie Jenner rocking a ravishing red floor length gown over on her Snapchat.

The makeup mogul opted for the vibrant shade while enjoying a mini break with her bae Tyga and sister Kendall.

The new spring season means that there are plenty of colourful options to choose from when it comes to integrating some red into your wardrobe, but a pretty party dress is the best way to dive into the new season head first.

Red symbolises passion, desire, and love, so add these elements to your life with a sultry gúna dearg.

1. ASOS

This ASOS dress is like a boho version of Kylie's high end glamour.

And using the flamenco dancer emoji while wearing it is obviously a must.

2. Boohoo

Short and sweet, this peasant style dress will be ideal now for work with tights and boots, and perfect for spring barbecues and nights out with bare legs in the warmer months.

3. Missguided

If girly dresses are not your thing, try a cosy, on trend, oversized hoodie styled as a dress.

This type of dress looks just as good with heeled boots as it does with tights and converse, so the options are endless.

4. & Other Stories

& Other Stories just opened up on Dublin's Grafton Street last month, and we are beyond obsessed with it's selection of styles.

This red lace skater dress is seriously on trend with its high Victorian collar, and even better, its on sale right this second.

5. Missguided

This ruffled hem dress is without a doubt a show-stopping party piece.

The simple style lets the on trend hemline do all the talking.

6. ASOS

Embroidery isn't going anywhere this season, so this statement dress is ideal for the fashionista within.

The gorgeous detailing on this piece makes it stand alone look, only a simple pair of heels and an understated clutch are required.

7. Parfois

When it comes to accessorising a red dress, black and neutral shades are best to let the dress do the talking.

A minimal watch and a lightly detailed bag are all you need, and the gorgeous embroidered rose detail on that handbag is the perfect compliment to a rosy red frock.

Date or no date, these red dresses have us totally in love with Valentines-inspired dressing.

We are currently counting down the days, minutes and seconds until we get paid… all thanks to the magnificent Danielle Nicole.

Danielle has collaborated with Disney to create the most beautiful range of character-inspired bags, EVER.

There are amazing double-sided clutches that feature princesses and villains, like Snow White and the Evil Queen.

There are also a few gorgeous bags inspired by characters from The Little Mermaid, like a groovy fringed Ursula bag and a Sebastian clutch.

We are also LOVING the cross-body bag inspired by Disney's Peter Pan… that comes in the form of a glitzy-looking Tinkerbell.

The best thing about these bags is the fact that they are so AFFORDABLE.

That's right, ladies; these stunning Disney bags start at just €26, and go up as high as just €82… which is a small price to pay for PURE JOY.

As soon as that pay cheque comes in, we are buying all of these.

French designer brand Vetements has released a special line of sweatshirts that are "‘Gay, Lesbian and Fetish" themed.

Now, before you jump to conclusions – when we say 'fetish', we don't mean chains, whips and leather masks.

The collection includes a rainbow-striped sweatshirt that pays homage to the gay pride flag.

Then, there is the purple and black jumper, that features a double-sided axe or, as it's also known, a labrys.

Apparently, this axe is used by Lesbian activists as a symbol of woman's strength and self-sufficiency.

Finally, there is the fetish jumper, and it is black, blue and white with a red heart in one corner, which are the colours of the leather pride flag.

Anyway, at $625 a pop, we don't fully understand the appeal, but thousands of people did.

The sweaters completely sold out just after Christmas, and have since been restocked.

New year, new you and all that jazz, right?

Nah. When it comes to fashion and style, you always need to stay true to yourself. Otherwise, you'll find yourself fidgeting, pulling, dumping… and well, just being plain grumpy.

Saying that, there's no harm in spicing up your look or adding a thing or two to make you feel that little bit more glamorous.

So, now that we're all well into 2017, here's ten outfits to inspire you this month and get your fashion juices flowing:

Two years ago Sophia Amoruso released a book about how she went from shopping in dumpsters to running a multi-million euro fashion empire.

It's safe to say many of us trusted that book like a bible, as it taught us about working hard and getting what you want in your career.

But along with the inspirational messages came Sophia's hilarious sense of humour and wit, which made us love her – and the book – even more.

And now, Girl Boss is being made into a TV series, and we couldn't be happier.

The series will start on Netflix in April, so while we're waiting on that to come around, we're guessing that these Sophia looks are going to be all the rage this year:

The statement trousers
