God be with the days we used to think we were cool rocking an Abercrombie tee, denim skirt and Ugg boots with streaky fake tan and ironed (literally) hair.

We never thought any of those things would ever come back into fashion, but alas, we were wrong and the denim skirt is living on.

But before you turn your nose up at the recent comeback, just take a look at Bella Hadid rocking it with with a simple black cami and suave patent black boots.

The model was heading out for a spot of shopping in NYC and now we can't wait to slip back into our old denims.

All we need now is the Givenchy bag and model pins.

Sales of neon-coloured clothes have been climbing ever since Queen Elizabeth II made a striking statement in neon pink and green colours at her official birthday appearances two weeks ago.

Since the events, high street retailer JD Williams has reported a 134% increase in sales of bright green clothes, with one green dress in particular selling seven times faster than usual.

A spokesperson for the store told the Telegraph: “The Queen is a great example of fashion without age limits, wearing neon brights is usually associated with 20-somethings but she has mastered the trend effortlessly.”

“Our customers are clearly cottoning on and showing that you can wear the latest trends no matter what your age.”

Bright pink clothing sales are also experiencing a boost of 107% after the Queen stepped out in a top-to-toe fuchsia ensemble – with matching pink lipstick – at the Patron’s Lunch.

And according to Marie Claire Her Majesty’s stylish efforts didn’t go unnoticed on Twitter either as minutes after making her colourful birthday entrance the tags #neonat90 and #highvishighness began to circulate.

At this stage the Royals are well known to be pretty powerful trend setters with Kate Middleton constantly influencing what’s considered fashionable and earlier this year even Prince George managed to sell out a bathrobe.

With being so fashion forward and all, we wonder what her Royal Highness would think of Judi Dench’s new tattoo?

Former One Directioner Zayn Malik must be developing a flair for fashion from hanging out with model girlfriend Gigi Hadid as the singer has just launched his very own clothing line.

According to Hello! Fashion, Zayn has created a 23-piece collection of t-shirts and hoodies which feature shots of Zayn and includes Urdu script – a touch which connects the collection to the singer’s Pakistani heritage.

Speaking of the venture, Zayn told Vogue: “Everything was created with the idea that this is something I would want to wear.”

"I wanted to approach this as an opportunity to extend my ideas as an artist, and to give fans another facet of who I am."

"My family is from Pakistan, so having artwork in Urdu has huge significance to me."

The 23-year-old star worked on the collection with British illustrator Mark Wilkinson, who previously designed Iron Maiden’s famous rock tees.

Zayn said: "Working with Mark gave me a license to do something exciting conceptually with a lot of colour and detail.”

“The art we created gives a nod to the vintage rock band t-shirts but with my own concept.”

The full collection is available now in Zayn’s online store.

For years people have been begging for greater diversity on fashion runways and it seems designer Moto Guo has taken it upon himself to answer that call in a very unique way.

Along with gingham separates and double-breasted blazers, Moto marched pimples down his debut runway for Milan Men’s Fashion Week.

The Malaysian designer employed MAC makeup artist Roberta Betti to help create the spotty look, which worked so well it looked like the male and female models actually had cystic acne.

In case you want to recreate the look, Roberta has kindly revealed the products she used for the show on her Instagram: MAC’s Mahogany Lip Liner and Coffee Eye Pencil.

Although we’re not sure we’ll be sporting this look in the near future, at least the next a pimple appears we’ll know to give Moto a call.

We like to think of ourselves as a fashion forward kinda bunch (largely because we are).

But there are other matters to consider when it comes to being decked out in our finest attire for an evening on the town. Namely: the time it takes to walk to the bus-stop; the prospect of hitting the chipper in the early hours, and whether it's proper raining or there's only a light drizzle.

Other factors of important consideration include: the presence of cobblestones, the height of your date, and whether it's a bloaty kinda-day

So while we'd only LOVE to go all Alexa-Chung-with-a-Kendall-Jenner-twist on our weekend get-up, having a bit of good old-fashioned cop-on is key.

We're not alone in our outlook either. A Dublin Fashion Festival survey today confirmed that six out of every ten Irish lassies dress for comfort and/or the weather.

What the report also discovered? Nine out of ten of us are more confident when we wear clothes we feel good in, and a third of us are influenced by what celebrities wear (one Lady Gaga meat dress, please).

That and we make d'lads work for our affections: 66 percent of men dress to impress their other halves, compared to 59 percent of ladies.

The findings were released to coincide with the announcement that Galaxy chocolate (delish) is sponsoring this year's fashion festival. It's a collaboration which is going to make the event – now in its seventh year – even bigger and better for 2016.

The Dublin Fashion Festival takes place from September 6-11 and you can find out more here or on the Facebook page. The hashtags to look out for are #GalaxyStyle, and #DublinFashion.

Some of the biggest names in music took to the red carpet yesterday for this year’s iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards in Toronto.

Host for the night Gigi Hadid set the bar for the event’s fashion as she stepped out in a striking red pant suit and glitzy oversized choker with a lengthly fishtail plait in her hair.

Gigi’s model friend Hailey Baldwin coupled her gold sequined mini-dress with a pair of strappy gold heels, leaving her hair and makeup simple so as not to overdo the look.

Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell stunned in her belted silky black slip dress which was split up to her thigh in Angelina Jolie fashion.

She was joined on the red carpet by her co-star Ashley Benson, who was also dressed in a simple slip.

Singer Sofia Carson chose a hot red lip and slicked back pony to go with her unique black co-ords.

While Canadian TV presenter Maripier Morin went for a girly pink skater style wrap dress and nude heels.

Fifth Harmony, Nick Jonas and James Bay all performed at the event which saw Drake take home five awards, including Video of the Year.

Justin Bieber and Fifth Harmony were also among the night's winners.

As we all know, trends come and go, but there's something about Irish fashion that's changing at the moment – and for the better.

With influences coming straight from the Irish music scene, we look at the style of Róisín O, Ireland's latest girl crush.

We're getting way more comfortable with ourselves, and that means with our clothing choices too, and we can thank gals like Róisín for it:

The piercings:

A photo posted by Róisín O (@roisinomusic) on

A few years ago, getting unusual piercings were a bit of a taboo (our Irish mammies wouldn't be too happy), but taking example from Róisin, they're something that have become a total norm and a style statement these days. If you like it and want it, go for it girl.

The hair:

Celebrities have always been changing and chopping their hair throughout the years, and it's safe to say us Irish have been a bit late to the game sometimes. But, not anymore. We relish with different looks, cuts and colours, and strive to be a bit different. Go us.

The grunge:

Gone are the days of the super girly girl (goodbye Paris Hilton circa 2009). Now, us Irish gals like a bit more rock'n'roll and we always grunge up our look. Whether it's adding a big statement belt, or rockin' black dress like Róisín here, we're loving it.

The glamour:

Saying that though, as much as we like to be comfy and original, we also LOVE to add a bit of glamour to our outfits sometimes. Whether you're heading on a night out and want to sparkle as bright as the discoball, or you simply just feel like adding some glitz to your shopping-day look, in the words of Fergie, we are G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S yeeeaaah.

The accessories:

If there's one thing we've conquered in fashion, it's accessories. Rocking some deadly shades, or simply adding a great bag like Róisín here, can totally change up any look and make it ten times better. We got it, girls.

To raise awareness of the issue of dating abuse and to raise funds for Women's Aid, we have decided to host a music gig in The Sugar Club on Wednesday July 6, where Róisín O will headline, and more special guests to be announced. If you'd like to support us on the night, you can get your tickets here now.

Ahh the noughties – when you went to the hairdresser actually looking for stripey highlights and coloured velour tracksuits were literally everything.

If you've always fancied looking like Kim Kardashian back when she was Paris Hilton's assistant, listen up –  the legendary Juicy Couture tracksuits are back.

Summer can be tricky in Ireland especially if you have a big event coming up.

You never know if it will be bright and sunny or if you'll be running for cover from a shower of hailstones.

Given this classic national dilemma, Irish designer, Helen McAlinden has us totally covered, and we are PUMPED!

Her new SS16 collection boasts form-fitting dresses, sexy jumpsuits, cool and casual skirts as well as really breathable cover-ups (In case the sun and rain hit at the same time – cheers, Ireland!)

Helen is celebrating her 15th year in Irish Fashion, and it clearly stands to her as she totally understand exactly what us cailíní want.

Her overall influence for this season is American 30s, 40s, and 50s flare – pairing nautical prints with simple structured dresses that will suit any body type.

Her designs will nip you in at the waist -creating a perfect hourglass shape – all the while concealing any lumps and bumps you may want to hide (Damn that extra slice of chocolate cake).

Our top picks at the moment are the slinky navy jumpsuit (perfect for date night), the denim crossover skirt (perfect for a cool summer wedding) and the faux suede tied jacket (perfect for any evening event, really).

So, if you're heading to a wedding, a party, the races, or just fancy dressing up for the fun of it, Helen McAlinden will have you sorted.

Commenting on her SS16 collection, the acclaimed designer said: “My designs are underpinned with the very best fabrics, chosen for luxurious quality and durability of style."

"It is always my goal to create a range to suit real women’s shapes and to flatter all ages, and I feel my latest collection has achieved what I set out to create," she added.

Oh, it certainly has.

The Helen McAlinden SS16 collection is now available in her flagship South William Street store, Arnotts and House of Fraser in Dundrum Town Centre or visit her website here.

So, we had a total lightbulb moment regarding the ‘boyfriend look’ recently.

After spending far too much time searching the womenswear collections in an effort to dress like men (the irony is not lost on us, we assure you), we realised that there was a very simple solution staring us right in the face: wear men’s clothing.

The androgynous look can be a tough one to pull off – on a bad day we can be left looking like the world’s worst Charlie Chaplin tribute act – but with the right pieces and some key styling tips, you can really work that ‘I-just-threw-on-my-fella’s-jumper-and-look-unreal’ vibe.

Here are our top picks – go on, experiment a little!

1. Stone Cali print tank vest, Topman, €24

The oversized look and neutral shades are both having a major moment (dare we say it, but we kind of have Kanye to thank), and this super-cool men’s tank is ticking all of the trend boxes.

How to style:

This top will work best for a casual take on the basic, oversized look.

Wear it over your leggings or favourite ripped jeans, and team with some cool trainers or Vans.

Your bra will most likely be on show under your arms, so if you want to cover up, pop a bandeau underneath. If you’re feeling a bit daring, on the other hand, just make sure you're wearing a fancy bra!

2. Vans Spicoli 4 sunglasses, ASOS, €21.13

Daaaaaaamn, Daniel! These shades are AS funky!

How to style:

We won’t insult you by telling you how to wear sunglasses, but what we WILL do is share how we’re going to style these cool specs.

A plain white T-shirt, our good old ‘mom’ jeans, some cute pumps and you're good to go!

3. White mi-pac perforated backpack, River Island, €55

Crisp white accessories are the order of the season, and River Island has tied this into spring’s hottest handbag style: the backpack.

This piece is way too cool to leave to the boys.

How to style:

Go sleek and chic by giving a colour pop to an all-black outfit of leggings, oversized T-shirt and sweeping car coat.

Alternatively, work the casual ‘90s look by popping your bag on over your crop-top and high-waist jeans.

Click here for more details!

4. Short-sleeved cotton shirt, H&M, €12.99

And so, we come to the ‘boyfriend’ shirt – every girl’s wardrobe secret weapon.

Don’t write this one off until you’ve tried it – it’s comfy and versatile, and that print is to-die!

How to style:

There are so many possibilities with this one: throw it on and leave it open over your basic T-shirt and leggings, tie it into a crop-knot over your dungarees or midi skirt, button it right up to the top and pop it under a tapered blazer – the list is endless.

Click here for more details!

5. Camouflage sweater, Zara, €39.95

That neutral camo vibe never goes out of style, and this piece adds a quirky twist to the classic look. We ADORE.

How to style:

Two words: leather leggings. With such an oversized piece like this, it’s a good idea to keep your look more fitted below.

Team with a pair of heeled boots, and you’ve nailed effortless chic in mere minutes.

Along with Sweet Valley High, The Princess Diaries and Judy Blume's entire back catalogue, The Babysitters Club books pretty much defined our early teenage years.

Long before Carrie Bradshaw was running through puddles in a tutu, The Babysitters Club crew were making female friendships and feminism cool.

City girl Stacey (whose diabetes gave her a touch of mysterious glamour, let's face it), arty Claudia, book-mad Mary Anne, #GirlBoss Kristy, Mallory with her masso Irish Catholic family, floaty Dawn (who liked carob before it was cool) or dance fanatic Jessi… yup, we all idolised at least one of them.

television snl harry potter the office orange is the new black

While there's been enough fan fiction based on the supposed adult lives of the girls to fill an entire library – and a recent reunion of the cast of the 1995 movie adaptation – we've always struggled to really imagine how they all turned out.

Would Claudia still rock a tie-dye jumper? Would Kristy ditch her baseball team merch? Would Jessi ever stop wearing legwarmers?

Well, one US-based blogger has clearly been wondering the same things, and has started a style series inspired by Stoneybrook's best babysitters. For each post, she creates an outfit  and a persona – based on her imaginings of each Babysitters' Club member.

Each post is accompanied by a snapshot of the women's lives today, and they're surprisingly on-point.

There's Dawn, who now has a kale obsession, "refers to her morning runs as 'gifts'" and is the eternally positive friend you "love to hate":

Stacey, who "works in hedge fund analysis" and "finds comfort in numbers, the digits flashing through her computer, her blood sugar count, how many miles she ran on her fit bit band before she goes into the office":

Claudia, who's still arty AF, but with a touch more class:

Mallory, who still wears specs and now favours tights, boots and skater skirts:

Jessi, who unfortunately "had her ballet career sidelined" by an Achilles Tendon Injury, and now teaches Movement classes at Juliard, while doing comedy improv part-time and "trying to get pregnant with her husband, Dov."

Plus, who can forget Kristy, who is still a total #GirlBoss, "runs a nanny staffing agency," and "rejoiced when slouchy sweaters became en vogue."

Amazing.

With a massive 41,000 followers on Facebook alone, it's no surprise that blogger Rosie Connolly was one of the first names that cropped up on the shortlist for VIP's Most Stylish Social Influencer Award this year.

SHEmazing! headed along to the launch of the Peter Mark/VIP 2016 Style Awards awards today at Dublin's Marker Hotel, and nabbed Rosie for a quick chat about her wardrobe, her favourite current trends, and of course her blog, Hearts Heels And Handbags.

Her stunning style – and who influences it
"Mostly it's people that pass me by in town and street style snaps from around the world who give me outfit inspiration," says Rosie.

"I don't really follow celebrities or catwalks – I like to take influence from things that are around me."

Her trend predictions for SS16
"I'm swearing by crochet tops and dresses as well as white knits.

"I love anything easy and versatile."

Her go-to jeans
"I'm going to be wearing lots of ripped denim this season. Ripped jeans are perfect for Ireland because you're still wearing trousers that will keep you warm, but the rips lighten it up a bit.

"It's easy to dress denim up or down too, so ripped jeans can bring you from work to the bar on Friday night."

Her beauty routine
Keeping her make-up in line with her fashion choices, Rosie lightened things up for spring at today's launch with some yellow eyeshadow from Inglot.

"Yellow eyeshadow is a great transitional colour and really brings your make-up into the new season," she explains.

And the most important thing – her outfit for The VIP Style Awards
The Dubliner is on the Most Stylish Social Influencer shortlist alongside some seriously fashionable names – Ciara O'Doherty, Suzanna Jackson, Anouska Proetta-Brandon, Chloe Boucher, Leanne Woodful and more – but she says she hasn't been getting too stressed about what to wear. For now, anyway.

"I haven't a clue yet!" she says sheepishly.

"I'm going to pick up some inspiration over the next few weeks and hopefully be able to pick up something really nice for the night.

"I have to get down to the hard work now – picking a dress!"

Whatever she chooses, she'll no doubt look fab on the night – and hopefully she'll be stepping up on stage to claim her award.
