Festival season is fast approaching, but the Irish festivals have been a little slow in announcing the line ups for summer 2017.

Electric Picnic is notorious for remaining tight lipped on the subject, but the music haven has finally revealed when the line up will be launched.

"Are you ready to do all of this again in September? The first acts for Electric Picnic 2017 will be announced the week of 20th March," reads a caption on the festival's Facebook page.

Festival fans have been eagerly anticipating the line up for months, and most of the tickets have already been sold, with the final tier of tickets being released later this year.

Last year saw acts such as The 1975, who are playing Malahide Castle later this summer, LCD Soundsystem and Lana Del Rey take the main stage.

Another Irish festival which has yet to be announced is Longitude.

No dates or acts have been confirmed for Longitude 2017, nor have any tickets gone on sale.

Tickets for last year's festival went on sale in January.

Last year, major US rapper Kendrick Lamar, as well as Major Lazer and The National, smashed it on the main stage at the no-camping weekend of festivities.

A fake Longitude 2017 Facebook page sprung up last week, claiming to be raffling off tickets to the festival through like and share competitions.

The page gained almost 30,000 followers before being disbanded.

We seriously hope that Longitude releases the dates ASAP, and in the meantime we will be marking March 20 into our calendars to keep up to date with all the Electric Picnic announcements.

It may still be cold and blustery outside, but we're already dreaming of festival season.

And with Coachella only weeks away and the announcement of some MAJOR Irish gigs, we're not really getting too ahead of ourselves, are we?

Well, we probably are, but it just so happens that the high street is already gearing up for a summer of gigs and gallivanting, and River Island's new collection is festival perfection.

Top €45.00, Dress €85.00

From folky prints to heavy embroidery, River Island is taking things up a notch wen it comes to festival dressing.

Taking it's cues from boho chic, this seasons festival look is more edgy hippy than EDM raver.

Denim choker  €10.00, Limited Edition choker €25.00, Lace choker €17.00

The emphasis is on the finer details like embroidery, distressed denim and mesh accents rather than out there eccentricity.

However, there is no one way to dress when it comes to festivals, so mixing up some of these more subtle pieces to create an out-there ensemble is more than encouraged.

Plaid skirt €40.00, Distressed skirt €38.00, Mandala skirt €53.00

Denim skirts are ideal for festivals, as they are warmer than other materials, so, weather dependant, tights aren't always necessary.

If the sun isn't on our side, adding fishnet tights and a bomber jacket creates an edgy festival outfit.

Layering is also an excellent look for festivals, and this plaid shirt-come-skirt achieves the look without the actual additional garments.

 Backpack €25.00, Embroidered backpack €47.00

Backpacks are a necessity. Where else are we going to keep our dry shampoo, sunglasses, rain poncho, and maybe a spare can or two.

The embellished, studded denim of this RI trophy piece makes us weak at the knees, or if you're more of a minimalist, add a pop of colour with this rainbow hued satin drawstring bag.

Aviators €17.00, Nude frames €17.00, Blue lenses €17.00

Sunglasses are a festival must have, for both shielding your eyes from the sun and covering them up when the day three hangover sets in.

While the summer is a while away yet, there's no harm in getting a head start on festival shopping, right?

While we might still be feeling winters icy grip, we're already excited for festival season.

With amazing gigs like The 1975 at Malehide Castle and Forbidden Fruit already lined up, this summer is set to be a great one for live music.

As if there wasn't already enough amazing acts on their way, Trinity College's Summer Series line-up has just been announced.

The Summer Series will feature six talented acts over six nights in a set of open-air gigs from July 6-11 2017.

The gig series kicks off with Gregory Porter in July 6, who will be followed by James Vincent McMorrow on July 7 and Bell X1 on July 8.

Next up will be The Pixies on July 9, Two Door Cinema Club on July 20 and rounding out the festival is Alt-J on July 11.

Tickets for Alt-J and The Pixies are priced at €54.65 including booking fee.

Two Door Cinema Club, Gregory Porter and James Vincent McMorrow tickets will all be priced at €44.05 each including booking fee.

Tickets go on sale from Ticketmaster this Friday at 9am, so we'll see you in the virtual queue.

Prosecco has easily become one of our favourite drinks in the past few years.

And especially with the introduction of skinny Prosecco, we don't feel too bad about having a boozy brunch every now and again.

But now, we need to gear up for a whole festival surrounding the drink, because it's coming to London pretty soon.

Aptly named Prosecco Springs, the three-day festival will allow you to meet the makers of your favourite fizz, as well as attend tastings, masterclasses and more.

And if the booze wasn't enough to sway you, there will also be live music that will range from jazz quartets to bass-pounding DJs.

The festival is taking place at the Oval Space in East London from the May 12 – 14.

We already have our tickets booked.

If you've been reminiscing on festival season during the gloomy weather we've been having, you're in luck, because most Irish festivals are already gearing up for summer 2017.

Tickets for the top gigs next summer are in the early bird stages, so now is the time to snap them up before they all sell out.

1. Electric Picnic

Ireland's biggest festival is already getting ready for next year, after massive acts The 1975, Lana Del Ray and LCD Soundsystem smashed the main stage last year.

Tickets are currently only €230.00, so we advise getting in there ASAP because EP sells out every single year.

2. Beatyard

Winter rages outside but plans for Beatyard 2017 are well underway with early bird tickets going on sale this week.

The festival is offering two for one on weekend tickets for €90 a pair until Dec 23rd, so grab a mate and get booking.

3. Forbidden Fruit

Forbidden Fruit just announced the first of their 2017 line up and the early bird tickets are flying out the door.

Bon Iver, Flying Lotus and Lisa Hannigan are all set to star on the main stage.

4. Body & Soul

Body and Soul is one of Ireland's more laid back festivals, with a reputation for a stellar line up.

While no official acts have been announced, this festival is always worth the trip, and tickets are already on sale!

5. Vantastival

One of Ireland's smaller festivals, Vantastival has a reputation for being one of the most authentic.

The affordable tickets for the chilled out gathering are only €75.00, so they really wont break the bank.

6. Castlepalooza

The annual festival at Charleville Caste draws festival revellers the country over.

Last year the festival played host to Caribou, Villagers, Jurassic 5 and Cat Power, and tickets for this year's festival go on sale this Friday.

Whether you spent the weekend in a tent, at the office or watching the All Ireland Hurling Final, it’s likely you’ll be heading to work today with some major Monday blues.

But as the remains of the weekend’s Snapchat stories fade away for another week, we’ve learned that tickets for next year’s Electric Picnic festival are about to go on sale.

Okay so it might seem a little early to be making plans for next year – like most of us don’t know what we’re doing next week, never mind in 365 days time – but given the pre-EP ticket scramble that revellers have experienced in recent times, having Picnic tickets in advance mightn’t be the worst idea.

According to RTE.ie, passes for Electric Picnic 2017 will go on sale this Friday (September 9) at 9am.

Festival organisers say the event’s capacity will remain at 55,000 people as they don’t want it getting any bigger, but unfortunately for dedicated festival goers the price of loyalty tickets is set to increase by a fiver.

While there is still loads of time to prep for EP '17, we're sure there will be plenty of people looking forward to Friday.

Ladies, hold on to your tents – there’s RAIN a comin’.

While Irish festival goers know only too well not to expect Coachella-style climes at home, it sure would be nice not to have to buy a boat before this weekend’s highly anticipated Electric Picnic.

Unfortunately though this coming weekend is on its way with one simple warning: DON’T forget your wellies!

Met Eireann has reported good news for those with a Friday EP pass as – some scattered showers aside – “a good deal of dry weather” is predicted as the favoured festival gets underway.

But sadly the truly dedicated revellers amongst us could be facing “wet and blustery [conditions] with persistent rain” for the rest of the weekend as showers will be a feature of Saturday night and Sunday.

So if your mam offers you a raincoat, poncho or brollie as you head off to Stradbally, make sure you take it.

When it comes to music festivals, our Stateside pals definitely have us beat on weather, but there's no denying we're nose to nose in the style stakes.

With festival attire rapidly taking over a large portion of our wardrobes, the vast majority of us have graduated from the 'binliner and fisherman's hat' approach, and have instead taken inspiration from a number of different trends in order to create our very own festival chic.

When it comes to the numerous musical events which have and continue to punctuate our summer, we have the look absolutely nailed.

Case in point: Longitude 2016.

Giving the Coachella contingent a serious run for their money in the grunge stakes, our Longitude ladies went for more than a passing nod to the 90s, and did it like absolute pros.

Two-tone denim and cons FTW.

There's no doubt white crop tops or for the more daring among us – white bralets –  are BIG this festival season, and we're all over the boho-inspired Broderie anglaise version which we're definitely getting our hands on for Electric Picnic.

Think how little space they'd take up in a rucksack! Packing hack 101 right there.

With dungarees making a huge comeback this year, festival-goers have been going for them in a big way, and we're hella impressed.

New Look and Topshop are great for overalls right now, so if you can't see yourself wearing a pair outside of a fest, at least you won't have broken the bank!

Everyone knows that accessories can make or break an outfit, so we're all over the sleek and chick bumbag look currently gaining momentum at Irish festivals this summer.

Most of us are opting for minimal because – well, it IS a bumbag at the end of the day – and yet there's such an abundance on the high street right now, it's unlikely you'll bump into someone rocking the same one.

Longitude ladies, you have it nailed.

If you're heading to Body & Soul this weekend, then you'll know that it's going to be some craic.

However, you also know that there's a big chance of you getting lost in the middle of all the crowds.

That's why Vodafone Centre Stage has just released deadly drone footage of Ballinlough to give you a chance to see where everything is laid out.

Handy, right? No more wandering around for hours with no idea where your friends are.

Festivals are great and everything, but you have to admit; when you're still slightly drunk/hungover there's nothing better than a mean plate of food.

Well, anyone heading to Groove Festival this year will be delighted to know that The Celtic Kitchen is coming – and we're already drooling over the grub.

The Celtic Kitchen is a brand new take on festival food where chefs will use traditional cooking techniques with the very best of local Wicklow produce.

There will be three different stages going on over the weekend and the Celtic Culinary Stage will see chefs Paul Kelly, Rory Morahan and Ed Hick on hand to showcase all that is great about Irish food.

And if that wasn't enough, there will be the Demonstration of a Fulachta Fiadh where a chef will re-create a Fulachta Fiadha – the style of cooking created by our ancestors. It uses scorching hot rocks to heat a water pool where meat joints are cooked and wrapped in hay. Interesting…

And last but not least, Meet & Eat Street Kitchen will have traditional Irish grub (with a bit of a fancy twist) available for you to have while you party away.

We think we might just head for the food now…
