If the fit of our favourite jeans is telling us anything right now, it's that 2016 was the year of the doughnut.

And much and all as we have intentions of cutting back in the new year, it's important to remember there are another 12 days until 2017.

With that in mind, we intend to make the most out of Aungier Danger's latest pop-up in Dundrum Town Centre this week.

We're NOW OPEN IN DUNDUM ! To celebrate, say hello to our latest family member… #TheJaff Think Jaffa Cake

A firm favourite among Dubliners, this delicious doughnut haven will be providing southsiders with a variety of deep-fried treats, but if you want in on the action, don't hang around.

The pop-up will be open from 9am until 11pm every day this week except Christmas Eve when it will shut at 6pm.

I wonder what this could mean…#fundrum #aungierdanger #tomorrow

Oh, and did we mention they even paid tribute to the centre with a brand-new doughnut named Fundrum!?!

Love it.

Tis the season for good resolutions. But much harder than commit to them is sticking to them, which is why we have a few suggestions of easy and struggle-free changes that can truly change your life.

1) Reduce sugar intake:

We know, it’s hard, especially since so much of our daily intake comes from hidden sugar in processed food – look at the back of a tomato sauce and you’ll see what we mean. So start by gradually reducing the sugar in your cuppa, skip the jam on the toasts, have an apple instead of candies. Sugar is addictive but the good news is, the less you eat of it the less you crave it.

2) Make meals from scratch:
“Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognise as food”, says American food activist Michael Pollan. And we're pretty sure that your great-grandmother didn’t know about Mars bars and Doritos. Modern life can jeopardise our good resolutions, but trying to eat homemade food made from scratch as often as you can is essential. Don’t be too harsh on yourself though: little changes make a big difference over time.

3) Walk as much as possible:

How easy is it to skip the gym and Netflix and chill instead? If going to the gym is too much of a commitment in your busy life, try and introduce as much walking in your day as possible. Go talk to a colleague instead of emailing, go get some air at lunch time, get off the Luas one stop before and walk the distance, go for a hike with the kids at the weekend. Again, every step counts.

4) Sleep more:
There are several reasons for getting at least seven hours of sleep every night, and controlling your weight is a pretty big one. Sleeping helps control hunger hormones, and we have all noticed that it is much harder to exercise and make healthy food choices when we are tired. So turn off your phone, stop scrolling through Instagram, and lights off before 11pm.

5) Laugh:
Some say that laughter is the best medicine. It can help reduce stress, anxiety and depression, and even strengthen your immune system. Try and seek out more opportunities for a good laugh, by spending more time with funny friends, watching comedies, listening to a funny podcast (we strongly recommend My Dad Wrote A Porno). It will bring you happiness and could help you live a longer and healthier life.

PLUS: stop smoking
Unhealthy, expensive, smelly, addictive… do we really need to give any more reason to quit for 2017?

If you, a friend or a family member are currently living abroad, but making your way home to the People's Republic this Christmas, this Cork bar wants to hear all about it.

Taking to social media, Electric, which can be found in the city's South Mall, announced that they would be providing free cocktails to anyone who sends them a postcard from abroad in time for the big day.

Not too shabby, right?!

"If you are coming home to #Cork for #Christmas, send us a Christmas card or postcard from abroad before you leave and we will treat you and a friend to a cocktail on us when you are home!" read the post.

"Make sure the card is sent in enough time to arrive here before you do and posted from another country! Post to Electric, 41 South Mall, Cork (boi!)" they added.

Well ladies, what are you waiting for?!

How many times have you had your name spelled incorrectly on your Starbucks Grande Latte order? More than once, we'd guess.

And how many times have you taken to social media to call Starbucks out on their error while sharing an image of their offending name tag? Again, more than once, right?

Well, if conspiracy theorists are to be believed, you've been playing into the global corporation's hands in that case.

In a move which has YouTubers picking their jaws off the floor in recent days, YouTube channel, Super Deluxe, conducted an experiment and it looks like they might just be on to something.

With the help of a woman named Molly, who visited five branches of the coffee chain, the channel suggested that the coffee house purposely misspell our names so we'll share the mistake on social media.

And hey presto, free advertising.,..

The moment we're introduced to a hack, most of us wonder how we lived so long without it… and, perhaps more importantly, why we never thought of it ourselves.

If that sounds at all familiar, then prepare to hang your heads in shame, ladies.

In a move which has us re-evaluating pretty much everything, Clare from Manchester took to Twitter to share her use for her fridge's water dispenser, and frankly we're stunned we never thought to do it ourselves.

Filling the water tray with sweet, sweet vino, the 28-year-old beauty marketer created an icy wine dispenser which has us salivating into our sleeves right about now.

"My adult life just peaked," she wrote alongside a shot which has racked up a staggering 173,000 likes in just two days.

Commenting on the viral post, one Twitter user responded: "This is my dream, I can't believe, as a wine addict, that I never thought of this!"

And everyone from Time Magazine to BuzzFeed want in on Clare's ingenuity – much to the surprise of Clare who tweeted: "Right, I'm off to The Winchester and waiting for all of this to blow over."

Sounding like a gal after our own heart, Clare was actually more stricken by her description in the countless publications who have highlighted her top-notch hack than the public's interest in the hack.

"Even with all this madness, the thing that is scaring me the most is that people are calling me a 'woman', I am not adult enough for that!"

We wonder if she has an opening for a BFF.

Do you go from wanting to sit back and watch the world burn just before lunch, to wanting to buy everyone you know a tiny puppy and a bunch of freesias once you’ve eaten?

This phenomenon, as we’re sure you know, is called being ‘hangry’. You’re not just hungry, or just angry – oh no, you’re a delightful little cocktail of both.

We all have that one hangry friend in work, the one who can't control her hunger rage, the one we have to supply with emergency snacks, just to talk her down…

1. Just before lunch you turn into (a nastier version) of Regan from The Exorcist

OK, so your head’s not quite spinning around, nor are you shouting expletives (well at least not out loud) but it’s fair to say in that half hour before getting food in your belly you’re a complete wagon.

2. You see someone else eating and your colleagues have to hold you back

How DARE she open that burrito in my presence! Does she not know I’m teetering on the edge here? Guac, she’s eating guac? BUT SHE KNOWS I LOVE GUAC! Wait, how did those deep, animal-like scratch marks get onto my desk?”

3. You’re offered a crisp, so you grab the whole bag and hand them back ONE CRISP

Aren’t you a charmer? And when they politely ask you for their bag of crisps back, you point behind them and say, “Is that Superman?” using the moment they turn around to leg it out the door laughing hysterically.

4. You get sassy – particularly with your email sign off

You really should have had a snack. Because maybe if you had you wouldn’t have replied to one of the company’s most valued clients, “Yours sort of sincerely”.

5. When it’s someone’s birthday YOU blow out their cake candles… just to speed things along

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to… blah blah blah enough of that – time to cut the cake. Yep, I’ll have a nice big slice there thanks. Bigger. A little bigger. BIGGER THAN THAT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!”

Luckily even the hangriest so-and-so can keep this phenomenon at bay with Carr’s Crinklys, the delish new savoury baked cracker crisps from Carr's in Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Bacon. A pack of these babies is just the right size to keep you ticking over, but won’t spoil your lunch or dinner – and they’re baked not fried, so are way healthier than normal crisps. We know what we’ll be filling our drawer with for those hangry moments!

While most of us are guilty of getting a bit hangry from time to time, we all have that friend who takes it to the next level.

She’s grumpy, irritated and snappier than a Chandler Bing one-liner – all because she hasn’t eaten for a few hours.

So if you’re wondering why your mate is getting a bit thick with you for no reason, she’s probably just hangry. Check the signs:

1. She’s rolling her eyes at everything you say

No matter what you say, her response is an energetic eye roll. Don’t worry, it’s not you – she just needs a snack.

2. She takes compliments badly

“You look gorgeous today” is met with, “Will you stop, the state of me. I’m like a dog’s dinner,” followed by an angry fold of her arms. Oh, OK.

3. She asks if you have any food ‘on you’

So you search your handbag in the vain hope you can find something to quell the ‘hangriness’. This is where Carr’s Crinklys would come in a treat. These baked snacks are crunchy, tasty and perfect for filling the gap (and preventing your pal from having a hangry meltdown).

4. She makes food-related Freudian slips

So distracted is she, her friend Brenda becomes ‘baguette’, Rory becomes ‘roll’ and Mary is ‘mayo’. “Hey Baguette, I mean Brenda, how are you?” Someone feed that girl, quick!

5. She covets your food

Each bite you take is scrutinised with a hangry glare, until you’re eventually forced to ask if she would like a bite. Of course she accepts.

Thankfully keeping hangriness at bay is easy peasy with Carr’s Crinklys, the new savoury baked snacks from Carr's in Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar and Bacon – and they’re baked, so are WAY healthier than fried crisps. Pop them in your handbag, and you’re good to go. Delish!

Yes, in recent times, the food scene in Dublin has really exploded, with more and more trendy cafes and stunning restaurants cropping up on an almost weekly basis.

It didn’t take long for Richmond to become one of our favourite places in Portobello. With an incredible tasting menu for just €30 on Tuesday evenings, the chef, David O'Byrne, formerly of Mulberry Garden, has impressed with beautiful and inventive plates.

5. Bunsen
Between its three locations in the city centre, Bunsen is selling burgers like they are going out of fashion, and it only seems legit. For just a few euro more than a fast-food eatery, you can get the best cheeseburger in town. And the sweet potato fries are probably the most delicious we have ever tasted.

Talking about the best brunch in town, Fia is a serious contestant. 9. Asador
This sleek eatery is Dublin 4 turned barbecue into a classy experience. You can find lovely seafood in the menu but its the meats grilled over charcoal that made the reputation of the place. Excellent food, good service and beautiful setting all contribute to a wonderful meal.

10. Featherblade
If you are looking for a great steak at an affordable price, Featherblade is the place to go. We love the casual atmosphere, perfect for a dinner with friends, and the meat there is simply delicious. Again, the menu is short, and we suggest you try all the sides available as they are all delightful.

As any foodie knows, you really have to work for your Christmas dinner.

Forget a morning of preparation, the festive feast generally requires at least 24 hours hard graft before you can tuck into a single morsel.

Or does it?

According to Theo Michaels, our insistence that the Christmas dinner needs an all-hands-on-deck approach isn't something he's buying – and with that in mind he's created the Christmas Dinner in a Mug.

No, seriously.

In a YouTube video which has clocked up over 2,000 views in recent days, Theo demonstrates just how easy it is to whip up Christmas dinner… as long as you don't mind eating microwaved mug food.

Thanks, but we'll pass.

‘Food regret’ is REAL. You know what we mean: that utter devastation when you realise you’ve made a grave error with your food choice.

And making it even worse is when your mate has picked the winner – and tucks in happily, blithely unaware you’re shooting her looks to kill.

Here are five times you’ve definitely experienced the pain that is food regret:

1. When you’ve dithered too long – and panicked

Panicked decisions are one of the main causes of food regret. You’ve been dithering for ages (because everything looks nice), but when the waiter arrives you blurt out the first thing you see on the menu. Noo!

2. When your date’s meal is WAY nicer

You were torn between two choices – so you pick one and your date picks the other. When the food arrives his is clearly the superior dish. Oh WHY didn’t we listen to our instincts?

3. When you’re trying to be ‘good’

So you order the kale salad while your BFF goes for a mahoosive burger with all the trimmings. Big mistake. HUGE.

4. When you thought you could watch a film without snacks

The queue for the snacks in the cinema is so long, you tell yourself you don’t need anything anyway. Cue the torture of listening to the sounds of munching and crunching throughout the movie, and you wishing to God you hadn’t made such a rash decision.

5. When you’ve made a grave takeout error

You went for Indian, your friend chose Thai. Suddenly you smell the lemongrass and chilli emanating from her dish and realise you’ve made a huge mistake. Of course you chance your arm at a swap, but she having none of it. Dammit!

Well you won’t have to worry about food regret with Carr’s Crinklys, the DELISH new range of savoury baked (not fried!) snacks that come in at just 122 calories. Now all you have to decide is which flavour to go for  Cheese & Onion, Salt & Vinegar or Bacon!

Since it started getting in on the likes of sweet potato fries (fancy pants alert), Abrakebabra has evolved from guilty pleasure on a night out… to just straight up pleasure.

Case in point being its most recent announcement: festive fries.

We think of it as Christmas dinner with a chipper twist – pretty much perfect for the discerning Irish palate.

Boasting Abra fries – natch – the dish is loaded with tidings of turkey and ham, as well as stuffing and a pretty perfect gravy garland.

Launching tomorrow, suffice to say we're sold!

If you're more than a little partial to an energy drink or two, you're probably well used to hearing people tell you that you'd better off cutting down on the habit.

But if you've always found that a quick can has helped with the mid-afternoon slump, the thoughts of powering through without a caffeine hit can seem as stressful as enduring an entire Honey G concert.

Acknowledging this reliance, researcher, Erwin Johnson, has produced a break-down of our body's reaction to the consumption of an energy drink – from the first ten minutes to 24 hours later.

Within 10 minutes of chugging your can, caffeine will enter your bloodstream causing your heart rate and blood pressure to rise.

Within 45 minutes, your concentration levels will improve as caffeine levels peak, and by the hour mark, your body will have absorbed all the caffeine and your liver will then absorb the sugar.

And then come the pitfalls.

Within one hour of consumption, your body will experience a sugar crash leaving you feeling tired and lethargic.

Six hours after consuming the drink, your body will have reduced the caffeine level by just half while the following six hours will be focussed on eradicating the other half.

If you choose not to consume another drink within a 24-hour period, you will begin to experience withdrawals including headaches, constipation and irritability.

Commenting on the research, nutritionist Ella Allred explained: "Energy drinks are a bad way to get caffeine. Many people drink energy drinks every day to help them survive busy week."

"However, relying on those drinks, push our bodies to the limit," she told the Daily Star. "We still need to sleep and eat properly, but if we won’t do it on time and ignore our needs, most likely we will crash later on."

Taking issue with the criticism, Gavin Partington, British Soft Drinks Association Director General reminded the public that a reliance on energy drinks is no different to a reliance on coffee,

"In fact, this year the European Food Safety Authority reaffirmed the safety of energy drinks and their ingredients." he said. "It’s worth remembering that a 250 ml can of energy drinks contains the same amount of caffeine as a typical cup of coffee."

Irritability and constipation or falling asleep and drooling on your employer's lap – oh, what a time to be alive.
