The most Instagrammed food is surprising, BUT we love it!

Yes, brightly iced doughnuts can step aside. Macarons, your time has passed – because IG have crowned pizza its new 'it' food!

Vice reports that the cheesy Italian dish is the most photographed food on IG. The study was carried out by chef Alessio Mecozzi and PR firm Klaus Davi.

The researchers poured through 300m food photos uploaded onto IG and found that 17m of them had the hashtag #pizza added to it.

Not surprisingly, New York had the most pizza photos, hogging 6.1 percent of all pizza pics around the world.

Pizza is one of those Internet-friendly foods with a cult following, producing countless memes and even emoji delivery orders. It also doesn't hurt that celebrities like Chrissy Teigen and Jennifer Lawrance are totally obsessed, too.

Sushi ranked in second place in the study, followed closely by pasta.

But we have to say, we think pizza is No. 1 too.

So we may not be as crazy about avocado as someone like Miley Cyrus, but that does not mean we will turn our nose up at the chance to enjoy some new delicious recipes.

For example, have you ever tried to smoke an avocado? Well, you can and it is delicious, apparently it tastes just like bacon. Perfect for vegetarians who might miss the smoky fabulous flavour from time to time.

The main reason we are so excited about this one is also because it is very easy to do at home. Hurrah!

Buzzfeed caught up with chef Aaron London who rocks the man bun very well and makes amazing smoked avocado. Alright so maybe wood chips are not the most common item to be found in your kitchen, but if you’re feeling adventurous you can easily source some online.

Then all you need to do is pop some tin foil in the pot and throw the wood chips in there. After leaving them at a medium-high heat they should start to smoke, which can take a few minutes.

Then add the avocado and put the lid on the pot. Leave them for five minutes and then the magic happens. Smoked avocado for all. Yum.

You can smash your avocados, slice them for avocado toast or use your smoked avocado for some delicious guacamole. We think we might be tempted to try this soon.

Pizza is delicious. Around here we are massive pizza fans and we reckon that nothing makes our day quite like a pizza delivery. Although, a homemade pizza is going to get us just as excited, we are not huge fans of all the labour it requires.

Some days we just want to sit on the couch and have food brought to us, is that such a terrible thing?

What is a terrible thing we decided was having to make that painful decision about whether we want to go all out and splurge on pizza, or would we be happier eating Nutella from the jar? We are also massive fans of dessert.

Then, luckily for us we realised that we no longer had to make the tough decision because there was a way to have the best of both worlds: Nutella pizzas.

We were very very happy with this discovery. We decided this was a luxury we needed in our homes and not just when eating out. Lucky for you, these are not that difficult to make at home, Buzzfeed even put together a video to help you out.

Ingredients:

Package of ready-made pastries (as many as you need, go for it)

Icing Sugar for dusting/garnish

Nutella jar

2 tbsp. butter

2 tbsp. Granulated Sugar

A round oven pan

Toppings can then be whatever you desire, we do love strawberries and chocolate though.

While it will probably come as no surprise to many, another recent study has found that the humble potato is one of the most fattening vegetables. What might be of more interest however, is that there are a few more vegetables that need to be given a wide berth if you’re looking to slim down.

Harvard researchers have said that rather than filling up on potatoes when you’re hungry, you should try and opt for brown rice or a wholemeal bread instead.

So what are the other vegetables we’re eating that might not be doing our healthy lifestyles any favours?

Celery

Often considered a dieter’s best friend, it has not been proven to help aid weight loss. However blueberries, prunes and cauliflower should apparently be considered instead.

Sweetcorn

Unless you’re eating fresh corn then you might want to give it a skip. The tinned or packaged kind tend to be devoid of the good nutrients that the fresh vegetable can provide for you. Similarly you may not reap the benefits of this vegetable when it’s covered in melted butter.

Peas

While they aren’t necessarily going to make you gain weight, researchers say that there are more nutrient dense (and tastier) vegetable options out there. Researchers again pointed to fruits for helping participants shed weight, as people tend to substitute them for sugary desserts. If you really want more veggies though, cauliflower came out as the top vegetable for helping aid weigth loss in this study.

Sunday; late afternoon… you're feeling wholly 'lethargic'. Lying sprawled on the couch watching back-to-back episodes of Botched is all well and good, but there is also the small matter of food to consider.

Lethargic Sundays, after all, have 'calorie mega-splurge,' written all over them (and never mind that Thursday, Friday and Saturday were also 'treat' days).

Yes, the dilemma is not so much whether you will or won't order a take-away (that's a given) – and more whether said take-away will consist of chipper, pizza or Chinese.

And it seems that the rich and famous folk of this world are just like us too (sorta).

For it has now come to our attention that none other than teenager reality TV millionaire Kylie Jenner had a serious case of the munchies on Sunday – and that she evidently fancied Chinese.

But, perhaps unsurprisingly, when Ms Jenner does take-away – she does it with style.

In fact, the 18-year-old splashed a cool €4,500 (say what?) on her cravings: she had a chef from her favourite Beverly Hills eatery make the 45-minute journey to her Calabasas abode to whip up Chinese fare for her and her mates.

Yummy

Philippe Chow is a favourite among celeby-types (including Oprah Winfrey, Bobby Brown, and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner squad).

It offers a prawn starter for €17, while three vegetable spring rolls are a tenner. It's €60 for a whole red king crab in garlic and butter and surf and turf for two is offered at €100. Sides such as broccoli and mixed veg are €10.

So while the food isn't crazy expensive (in a Beverly Hills context anyway), the luxury of having your own chef whip up Philippe Chow snacks in the comfort of your own €2.2m home evidently costs a pretty penny.

Thank you @philippechowbeverlyhills for coming to the house tonight

Ms Jenner was on Instagram yesterday to thank the restaurant for coming out to see her, although some fans questioned whether it really was money well spent.

"Spending $5000 to have them come to your house instead of just goin there is ridiculous," one said, also warning: "She's gonna blow thru her money and then wish she had made better choices."

We all treat ourselves from time to time, but when the craving for a certain food won't go away, it may be something to think about.

There's no 100 percent way to figure out exactly why you want to eat a particular type of food at a particular time. It can baffle the best of us!

But some food cravings can hint at nutritional deficiencies or other health issues, according to Joseph Colella, author of The Appetite Solution

While you might not be able to diagnose yourself on food cravings alone, putting your food cravings into context can help to give your body what it really needs.

So consider these triggers the next time you're reaching for the snacks:

Chocolate

If you crave chocolate, it doesn't mean your body has a chocolate deficiency (although we would probably prefer that).

Chocolate is high in magnesium and cravings often indicate that this mineral is low in your body. If this craving strikes, eat foods such as nuts, seeds and leafy greens.

And if you must go for the chocolate (because let's face it, who can resist), choose organic or eat dark chocolate.

Sweets

If you crave sweets you could be experiencing blood sugar fluctuations. When you blood level drops, your body is telling you to give it more fuel.

While eating a handful of sweets might give you a rush of energy for a few minutes, beware, because you will come crashing down.

Instead try fruit, beans or wholegrains to give your body the energy it needs.

Salty Food

Cravings for salty foods like popcorn or chips often indicate stress hormone fluctuations in the body – so getting on top of stress in your life is step one.

The adrenal glands in our bodies help to cope with stress, and in our hectic lives, it often gets worn out. Try meditation or breathing exercises to nab anything getting out of control.

Cheese

A craving for cheese or pizza could mean you have a fatty acid deficiency, which is actually common in most people. Eat foods such a raw nuts, wild salmon and flaxseeds. Regularly eating these types of foods should cut the cheese craving out altogether.

Red Meat

Not surprisingly, a craving for red meat usually means you have an iron deficiency. Women are particularly vulnerable to this during their periods and head straight for burgers or steaks.

Eat more iron-rich foods like beans, prunes, figs and other dried fruits. And if you need the meat, choose a lean or organic cut.

You should probably pay attention to his one because this is the kind of advice that people pay hundreds of euro to hear.

Over the course of the weekend, the summer, your holidays of just a Wednesday we can easily fall off of our healthy eating bandwagons and raid the biscuit tins. Our efforts to make up for these little slip ups can apparently not be any good for us at all.

So, instead of putting yourself on a no-carb, no-sugar, no-fun emergency detox, have a look at what holistic nutritionist Eve Kessner does when she decides a detox is on the cards.

All of the water!

"Drink lots of water," Evesays. Besides balancing out the dehydrating effects of any imbibing you did over the weekend, Kessner credits water with helping the body "flush out any toxins it's holding on to." Start the morning with hot water with a lemon, which among other things has been shown to aid in weight loss.

Get some sleep:

"This one is tough [when you have a busy schedule], but super important for your body's recovery," explains the SoulCycle instructor. Skipping sleep can lead to stress, weight gain, and an overall decline in good health.

Try and fit in some exercise:

She suggests a fast-paced cardio session since it will boost the body's metabolism, so you can definitely burn off some of those weekend indulgences. If you went completely overboard on Sunday and the thought of a high-intensity workout makes you feel a tad unsettled, try a walk in the fresh air instead.

When someone tells us that we can achieve better skin without cutting out our favourite snacks then we are going to support that idea.

Some of these are not that surprising, green tea has been celebrated for being rich in anti-oxidants and adding it to your favourite recipes can help you achieve a flawless complexion. However, did you know that red wine can do the same? Along with more of your favourite foods wine can also be used to help clear up your skin.

This is the best news we’ve heard all week.

Almonds

Rich in Vitamin E to help improve complexion and protect against pathogens. Also, almond butter is the snack of the food-gods so a clear winner there.

Beef

Burgers for everyone! Ok, so maybe not Big Macs three meals a day, but grass-fed beef is a source of omega-3 fatty acids to improve your skin’s elasticity.

Avocado

One study from 2008 found that avocados are rich in Vitamin D, E and A which help replench dry or damaged skin.

Dark Chocolate

High levels of cocoa hydrate your skin and make it more firm and supple. The antioxidants it contains also improve your skin’s luminosity. So, give us all of the chocolate.

Red Wine

Research from Harvard Medical School has shown that red wine drinkers reap the benefits of resveratrol which is an anti-aging agent found in the skin of red grapes.

Have you ever been caught with your hand in the Nutella jar?

There is no judgement because we all feel quite passionate about this particular chocolate spread around these parts.

While we love to include the chocolate goodness in almost any snack combination possible, sometimes we can’t help ourselves and just go at it with a spoon, or if it has been a very tough week, our bare hands.

If you, like us, are a Nutella fan, but not so wild about leaving sticky (and incriminating) chocolate fingerprints behind then we have found the invention for you.

An Italian designer Paolo Ulian has designed a biscuit that sits snugly on the tip of your finger. This means that you can then dunk the biscuit into the tub to your heart’s content.

The thimble shaped snacks are designer to help chocolate fiends avoid sticky fingers after succumbing to the temptation that is a jar of Nutella.

The best part is, this invention is not just for use with Nutella. You can pretty much dunk them in any spread you want.

Jam fan? This will work. Peanut butter lover? Then you need this in your life. Almond butter fiend? Well then, your snack game is about to improve 100 per cent.

Seven Irish restaurants have reason to celebrate today as it was revealed that they have been awarded prestigious Michelin stars.

The announcement came via Twitter a day before the news was expected to break.

Loam in Galway and The Greenhouse in Dublin were two new additions to the respected list.

House in Ardmore, Aniar in Galways, Campagne and Lady Helen in Kilkenny and Dublin’s Chapter One and L’Ecrivan all retained their Michelin star status. Patrick Gilbaud in Dublin 2 remains the only Irish restaurant to have two Michelin stars.

Owner and Head Chef at Loam, Enda McEvoy (who previously worked at Aniar) told the Independent that the award came as shock when he considered that they have only been open since 2014.

“I think what we do is up to that standard but I wasn’t expecting this. We’ve only been open for about 20 minutes so things worked quickly.”

There was some bad news for Irish chefs however as it was revealed that Bon Appétit in Malahide and Thornton’s at the Fitzwilliam Hotel did not retain their Michelin status.

Chef Oliver Dunne of Bon Appétit remarked earlier this year that he did not expect them to retain their status after undergoing some changes:

“It became frustrating trying to live up to people's expectations and their inaccurate expectations of what a Michelin restaurant should be.”

Meanwhile, we are busy Googling menus and adding dishes to our wish lists because there are certainly some amazing dishes to be had around the country.

This news has certainly made our dinner of last night’s leftover seem just a smidgen less appealing.

Khloé was one of five Kardashian sisters to launch her app earlier this week, although Kourtney’s is running a little late but we are promised it will arrive soon.

Each of the sibling’s apps promises to cover a plethora of topics and give us insight into each of their lives. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are just not enough, obviously.

Kylie has already premiered her first beauty instructional video. Considering the family are famous for their trend setting contouring habits, we reckon there might be some duplicates coming shortly.

Khloé clearly saw this coming and decided to go down a different route, because she knows what the people really want.

We wanted snacks, and Khloé delivered.

Apparently in the past her Instagram shot of a beautiful flower arrangement got a lot of attention, but most of it was focused on her perfectly organised cookie jars in the background.

So Khloé decided to post an instructional video of how to stack your biscuits in a glass jar from Target because she can.

Possibly the most impressive part of the video is her ability to handle a ridiculous amount of biscuits and not eat a single one. She also does this every month.

We have one very important question: what happens to the leftovers? Because those biscuit packets are HUGE.

Also, as Jezebel first pointed out, Khloé’s snack-attack video could be a sign that she’s moving away from her sister’s beauty themed apps as they took note of how she hadn’t even downloaded her sister's apps.

Although she took to twitter to refute the claims:

Oh dear. This is not good news, and certainly making us all reconsider our snack options.

This month’s Journal of Nutrition includes a report that offers an interesting discovery about the affects different sweeteners can have on our health.

The study was done to see how much high-fructose corn syrup can negatively affect your health in terms of diabetes and obesity risks.

A common thought is that natural honey is a far wiser option for health conscious individuals than artificial corn syrup sweeteners.

As it turns out, the health benefits of both were, in this study, almost identical.

The study, which was actually funded by the honey industry, the research team gave subjects honey, cane sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. They measured their blood sugar levels, insulin levels, body weight, cholesterol and blood pressure.

The only significant changes was an increase in a specific type of blood fat that can be a marker for heart disease. This increased following subjects trying all three different types of sweeteners.

Lead researcher Susan Raatz and her team were surprised that corn syrup, given it’s terrible reputation, had at least in chemical terms an effect on the body that is “very, very similar” to natural honey.

"Honey is thought of as more natural whereas white sugar and high fructose corn syrup are processed from the cane or the beet or the corn,” Susan explained.

“We wanted to find out if they were different. But chemically, they are very, very similar, and that's what it seems to break down to."
