Get ready for avocado lovers everywhere to absolutely lose the run of themselves with tis news.

Tesco have started selling packs of frozen, pre-peeled, pre-stoned, avocado. 

Can you even? We feel like there are a lot of avocado on toast and matcha latte lovers in active wear who simply cannot even right now. 

Apparently, customers told the supermarket they REALLY love avocados but they are simply just too messy to prepare. Why do the things we love hurt us so much? A recent 30 percent spike in sales- which is supposedly thanks to Nigella Lawson's new TV show, has confirmed this love of the green superfood.

Consumers explained, “they often struggle with fresh avocados at home, as they go off very quickly which can result in food waste,” said Tesco frozen produce buyer, Marianne Aitken. 

This is true, there is nothing worse than waiting patiently for an avocado to ripen and then in a split second they have become a gross brown alien. What on earth are those brown strings doing, someone tell us, please!

“They can also be a bit messy to prepare so we’ve not only frozen, but also peeled and halved them so they’re ready to use in salads, smoothies or guacamole.” 

“Of course because they’re frozen from fresh all the nutrients are locked in through the freezing process.” Marianne added.

The avocados are fast frozen so texture is not impaired. This was a move that has been welcomed by waste advisory body Wrap. There is 54,000 tonnes of stone fruit related food waste each year, 32,000 tonnes of which is avoidable. 

So say hello to world where 32,000 extra tonnes of guacamole is just waiting for you to enjoy. What a time to be alive.
