The Gavin and Stacey actress shares it all; the good, the bad and the ugly; in her new ITV documentary which follows her journey to becoming a mother for the very first time.

Sheridan Smith is no stranger to a mental health battle, and talks about it openly in the hour-long episode. It follows Sheridan and her fiancé, Jamie Horn, as they prepare for the birth of their first child, Billy, who arrived in May this year.

Not only does the camera follow her along to her first scans and prenatal classes, but it also joins her in therapy sessions, where she struggles to discover the root of her mental health problems.

In the trailer for the documentary, Sheridan describes the worries she’s feeling ahead of the birth of her son. “No-one knows really what's going on behind it all. The biggest worry is you've had mental health issues in the past, will it rear its ugly head again? Now I'm pregnant it feels like I've got a second chance at life.”

“I just hope I’m a good mum,” she insists emotionally.

We believe this documentary is going to be a must-watch for mums and mums-to-be, or for anyone who has ever struggled with their mental health. Sheridan’s journey is so raw and relatable for so many women near and far, that we’re sure it’s going to be a heartbreaking and empowering watch.

The award-winning actress gave us all hope when she described the first time her little boy smiled at her, saying, “[It] was more amazing and emotional even than the day he was born, because you suddenly think, ‘Oh my god – you love me back!’”.

“Suddenly all those sleepless nights and all that worry goes out the window. You look in those little eyes and the love you feel – it's like a connection I've never felt,” Smith lovingly described.

Make sure to tune into Sheridan Smith: Becoming Mum on ITV, Tuesday September 1 at 9pm.

The BBC has brightened up this miserable Tuesday by releasing a teaser trailer of the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special.

Fans have been patiently waiting for a glimpse at the comedy’s return and we’re honestly way too excited about it.

In the 30 second-clip, Uncle Bryn has a meltdown as he tries to cook Christmas dinner. We’ve all been there, Bryn.

Bryn rushes around the kitchen and calls for help, “Gwen, Jasone, anyone” he calls into his walkie talkie.

Stacey is setting the table in the living room when she hears a huge crash come from the kitchen. She runs in to find Bryn trying to salvage the remains of a bread and butter pudding off the floor.

"Would you kindly inform everyone that dinner is ever so slightly delayed," he mutters.

There’s no doubt the Christmas special will be as hilarious as the original series.

The BBC even released the first official cast photo and our hearts can’t cope.

Matthew Horne, Joanna Page, Ruth Jones, James Corden, Rob Brydon will return for the Christmas special.

Melanie Walters, Larry Lamb, Alison Steadman and Robert Wilfort will also reprise their roles in the Bafta-winning series.

The Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special airs on BBC One on Christmas Day.

Hilarious TV comedy series Gavin and Stacey won the hearts of the nation when it aired between 2007 and 2010, but nostalgia is firmly on everyone's minds at the moment with the Spice Girls and Westlife touring.

Speaking of nostalgia, why not bring back the Bafta-winning sitcom for a one-off Christmas special?

James Corden shared an image of the script to his Twitter and Instagram account, stoking up fans everywhere;

"Ruth Jones and I have been keeping this secret for a while… We’re excited to share it with you. See you on Christmas Day."

The show's premise featured a long-distance relationship between a girl from South Wales and an Essex boy, and it was the show that launched the careers of James Corden and Ruth Jones.

The BBC have confirmed the announcement, saying it was "hugely excited" to welcome the show back to BBC One.

Corden and Jones, who co-wrote and co-starred in the hit show, said in a joint statement that;

"Over the last 10 years we've talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they might be today and what their lives might look like. So in secret we took the plunge and wrote this one hour special. We've loved revisiting Barry and Essex again, and bringing the characters back together has been a joy.

"We're so excited to get the chance to work with our fabulous cast and crew once more and to give fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas."

Cast-mates Mathew Horne and Joanna Page, who play the titular couple, will also return for the special as well sa Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters and Alison Steadman.

The town of Barry in Wales was broadcast to the masses, and the witty one-liners of the series became iconic. The warm and relatable characters had audiences gripped from the start.

An astonishing 10.3 million viewers tuned in for the show's 2010 New Year's Day finale, which was a BBC record. The series won a slew of awards, and featured cameos from memorable British names.

We can't wait to see what's become of Nessa, Smithy and the whole gang.

We watched it religiously from 2007 to 2010 and now we might be able to get a little more Gavin and Stacey (and Smithy and Nessa) in our lives.

James Cordon revealed today that he would “love” to reprise the role of Smithy on the show one last time.

The Late Late Show presenter returned as Gavin’s bashy BFF for a Sport Relief sketch recently and said he’d like to write another special with Ruth Jones, who played Nessa.

“I’d love to do another Gavin & Stacey special. It’s just finding the time. My favourite was the last Christmas special," he told the Daily Star.

“Writing that with Ruth for two weeks was just brilliant, so I’d love to do another one. Watch this space.”

Oh, don't worry James, we'll be watching.
