We think this pretty much indicates just how much sway it-models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner have over the fashion industry. 

Speaking to the Daily Mail Online, 20-year-old John Economou revealed that it was these two starlets that spotted him and gave him his big break in the fashion industry. 

John had left his small hometown in Milwaukee where he was doing small time modelling gigs to go and chase his dream of being a model in Los Angeles. 

After a rough start, the handsome youth started to lead a hippie lifestyle, skateboarding on the boardwalk by day and sleeping out on the beach by night. 

By the time he bumped into Gigi and Kendall, he was living out of a rucksack containing two changes of clothes and a toothbrush. 

The young model struck it lucky when the Victoria's Secret models stepped out with friends for a picnic after filming a commercial on the famous Venice Beach boardwalk. 

"I was just chilling on the beach and watching the water, minding my own business and then I see these people come over."

"They sat pretty close but not too close and they started having a picnic. They looked all presentable and good looking."

"Then I saw seagulls swarming around the girls because they brought the food out and I started walking over there to shoo them away. One of the girls said to me, 'You’re cute', so I turned around and we struck up conversation."

"I didn’t realise who I was speaking to at first and it finally clicked who it was – it was Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, actor Ansel Elgort, and Kendall’s manager, Ashleah Gonzalez."

What a lucky break! After explaining his goal of becoming a model to Kendall, it seems the young Jenner set John up with the right people and the rest is model history. 

"Kendall was cool, she was super down to earth and chill. We were just having a normal conversation talking about life, acting modeling, personal lives."

"It’s a crazy story. I’m super grateful. I was just in the right place at the right time."

And despite burgeoning success, John is still enjoying his outdoor, hippie lifestyle. 

"I don’t like saying I’m homeless – I like saying I’m on an adventure. I’m a traveller."

Now that is what we call a lucky break. 

When we post a pic on Instagram, we get pretty excited if the likes even reach double digits. 

Meanwhile, in the world of celebrity, models like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner can expect to earn six figures not only in Instagram likes but also in cold hard cash for every single one of their pics. 

WHAT is the world coming to? 

According to an industry insider, brands are reportedly paying top models up to €275,000 for a social media snap featuring their product. 

That's for one solitary picture. 

Formel model scout Frank Spadafora told CR Magazine that these models really are at the top of their game at the perfect time. 

"The three most highly ranked supers on social media are currently valued between 125,000 and 300,000 dollars for a single post across their portfolio."

And just who are those three lucky models?

Gigi, Kendall and Cara, of course. 

Kendall, who was recently named as the highest paid model of this year, is already earning an annual salary of €3.5m… on top of these social media pay-outs. 

Yep, these girls are making more money in one Instagram post than most of us make in an entire year (or even three years!)

We feel a tad bit sick.
