This year’s Golden Globes saw some impressive movies and TV shows go head-to-head for those shiny gongs.

There wasn’t too much surprise when it came to the main movie awards, with Best Drama going to 12 years a slave and American Hustle winning Best Comedy/Musical.

There was a murmur of recognition when it came to Best Actor in a Drama, won by Matthew McConnaughey for his powerful portrayal of Ron Woodruff in Dallas Buyers Club.

Staying with the fellas, Leonardo Di Caprio won Best Actor for a Comedy/Musical for his role as corrupt and wild stockbroker Jordan Belfort.

Cate Blanchett won Best Actress for her role in Blue Jasmine, while Amy Adams was awarded a globe for her portrayal of con artist Sydney Prosser.

Jennifer Lawrence and Jared Leto were awarded Golden Globes for their supporting roles in American Hustle and Dallas Buyers Club respectively.

Gravity seemed to disappoint in its predictions of numerous awards however Alfonso Cuaron did walk away with the Best Director award for the 3D science-fiction thriller.

Finally, Disney’s newest contribution Frozen won the Golden Globe for Best Animation.

The stars emerged in all their finery for last night’s Golden Globes; but who was dressed best?

We’ve picked our favourite outfits from the night from sparkling dresses to block colours; there was no theme on the red carpet to see last night, but there was certainly style!

Olivia Wilde displayed her pregnancy bump in Gucci; Dame Helen Mirren glistened in green Jenny Packham; Julianna Margulies, star of The Good Wife wore a beautifully shaped and gold embroidered gown by designer Andrew Gn whilst Lupita Nyong’o, star of 12 Years a Slave looked striking in a bright red Ralph Lauren gown.

Bono’s been kissing a lady and it’s not his wife!

But don’t worry, it was just for laughs with the hilarious Amy Poehler at last night’s Golden Globe Awards.

Amy leaned in for a kiss with the U2 front man after being announced as the winner of her first ever Golden Globe for best actress in a TV musical or comedy for her role as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation.

Grabbing Bono for the quick and friendly smooch, Amy took to the stage to admit her surprise at her win saying: “I never win, so I can’t believe I won”.

Bono’s wife, Ally Hewson was seen sitting beside Bono as Amy pulled the stunt and seemed more than happy to laugh along at the joke.

Hmm, we’re not sure about you, but we think Ally could definitely take her. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that!

We all know from past awards shows that Jennifer Lawrence is a big fan of photobombing and last night’s Golden Globes were no exception.

Jennifer was spotted lurking behind Taylor Swift making faces and generally acting the maggot.

The Hunger Games actress then went on to tell Taylor that she was going to come up and “push her down the stairs” to which Taylor replied, “People would love that”.

The girls both looked absolutely stunning, with Jennifer dressed in white Dior and Taylor looking classically beautiful in Carolina Herrera.

Ryan Seacrest later uploaded the incriminating photo onto his Instagram, labelling it “the most important photo from the #goldenglobes red carpet”.

We agree, keep up the good work Jennifer!
