Grey’s Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is showing so signs of slacking in it's 11th series, as they have a new addition to the long running show.

Oscar winning actress Geena Davis will be joining the cast in the next series as a new surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial hospital. She is reported to have an important storyline arc in the upcoming season.

Geena won her Oscar back in 1989 for Best Supporting Actress in the film The Accidental Tourist. She is most famous however for her roles in Thelma and Louise opposite Susan Sarandon, and as President Mackenzie Allen in Commander in Chief.

Other big news for series 11 (spoiler alert!) includes the rumours of marriage troubles for Meredith McDreamy, with some speculation of a divorce for the on-screen couple.

Producers have said that the upcoming series will focus heavily on Meredith, which may give weight to the rumours.

”It’s really a Meredith-centric season,” says Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey’s Anatomy. “There’s a lot of growth. She’s lost her person. Her sister has showed up. Her husband is chafing to go someplace else."

"She’s got all these things going on. … But for me right now, it feels like it’s Meredith. I’m feeling her more acutely because she’s lost her person.”

The Grey’s Anatomy actress Sarah Drew, and her husband Peter Lanfer, are expecting their second child together.

Sarah’s rep confirmed the wonderful news with a statement this evening: “Peter and I are delighted to announce our pregnancy. We can’t wait to introduce Micah to his little brother or sister.”

The 33-year-old star plays fan favourite, April, on the hit television show.

Drew is also mother to her son Micah, who was born in January 2012.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

After a dramatic exit from the show that made her a household name, Katherine Heigl is coming back to TV with her tail between her legs.

NBC has just announced it will pick up State of Affairs, a show about a high-ranking CIA agent played by Katherine who acts as the president’s daily adviser.

You have to appreciate the irony after the actress caused so much trouble trying to leave Grey’s Anatomy so she could pursue her career on the big screen.

Katherine’s Grey’s Anatomy character, Dr Izzie Stevens, was given a no-show exit in 2010 after she made a number of enemies on set with her reported diva behaviour and her public criticisms of the show.

We bet Shonda is feeling a little smug right now…

1. Pretty Little Liars
How exciting would your life be if you constantly had someone trying to murder you, sending you strage and spooky text messages when you least expect it? Ok, so it’s a little terrifying, but life would never be dull and you’d have a killer wardrobe.

Grey’s Anatomy fans may want to look away now, as it has been revealed that a further two characters will be leaving the show.

It was announced today that series regulars Tessa Ferrer and Gaius Charles will not be returning for the 11th season as their contracts have not been renewed.

We’re not sure what will exactly happen to the characters of Leah Murphy and Shane Ross but it could be linked with Sandra Oh’s departure at the end of the season.

Sandra who has been with the medical drama since the beginning, announced that she would be leaving her famous role of Cristina Yang at the start of season 10.

The best thing you can do for your friend after their break-up is say “Tell me if there’s anything I can do to make you feel better” and genuinely mean it. Let them know you’re there for a midnight phonecall and that you’ll have a bottle of wine on stand-by if they just want to hang out.

Avoid doing these things:

  • Comparing it to our own experiences. No two situations are the same and she doesn’t want to hear about how amazingly you handled it when she feels like crap.
  • Ask them sensitive questions. Tell them they can talk about it whenever they want, but don’t actually pry. Asking intimate questions about the relationship, the break-up and how they’re feeling just forces your friend to confront upsetting situations.
  • Not actually listening. If they say they don’t want to talk about, respect that. You may want to get the details, but this isn’t about you. They’ll talk when they’re ready.

Just let them know that they have someone there when they need it and you’ll be doing the best thing you possibly could.

The man who was sacked for using homophobic slurs against a co-star seven years ago will soon be making his big come back on Grey’s Anatomy.

Isaiah Washington took on the role of Preston Burke for the first three seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and is now set to return in a once-off appearance before his former on-screen lover Cristina Yang leaves in May.

Speaking about their relationship, screen writer Shonda Rhimes said in a statement:  “It’s important to me that Cristina’s journey unfolds exactly as it should. Burke is vital to that journey – he gives her story that full-circle moment we need to properly say goodbye to our beloved Cristina Yang.”

She admits that his departure seven years ago was a very difficult time for her to write the show, even though “some amazing things did come out of it”.

We’re excited to see what Isaiah Washington’s return will bring for this medical drama!
