The World Cup has suddenly thrown Brazil into the spotlight and everyone is watching it in all its glory.

However, there is way more to the city than several albeit gorgeous men kicking a football around, One part of Brazil has been kept a secret – a beauty regime that might stun even the most hardened beauty fanatic.

In hair salons all across the country, women are burning their hair in a treatment known as velaterapia.

This involves putting the hair into sections, twisting it and putting a flame underneath to make the damaged hair stick out which are then snipped. We are terrified at the very thoughts of this happening to our beautiful hair.

Apparently, the burning makes the hair more receptive to conditioning treatments and only takes about three hours.

We might give this a try the next time we are passing through Brazil.

The singer has been spotted sporting a brand new look, but we’re not so sure about it.

Lily has dyed parts of her hair a flame red, but we think she should have gone the whole way!

Vanessa Hudgens took to her Instagram account to début her new blue hair.

The actress had been sporting dark locks with a blonde ombre for some time now, we like this change!

The summery colour may be hard to match clothes to though…

Vanessa captioned the pretty picture: “She would be a half a planet away, floating in a turquoise sea, dancing by moonlight to a flamenco guitar – Janet Fitch, White Oleander.”

Extensions are great if you have thin hair or just can’t seem to grow it longer than your shoulder – seriously, what is with that?!

However, there are a few things you need to know before you invest (a lot) of money into your hair.

Fine hair? Avoid glue-ins
If you have fine hair, you need to avoid glue-in hair extensions. The glue can actually be thicker than your hair making it harder to remove – eek, sounds painful!

Getting used to it
It will take a bit of getting used to, and not like the getting-used-to-a-new-cut kind of used to. Styling will be awkward for a while but it will get easier – we promise.

Don’t just go to anyone
Seriously, when it comes to your hair, professionalism goes a long, long way! Don’t just pop into any ole hairdressers – you want to be sure they’ve done this before, even if it means paying a little more.

Taking care of them
If you have synthetic extensions avoid using any hot styling tools. If you want to continue to rock GHD curls or have poker straight hair, you may want to consider going for human hair. You also can’t wash synthetic ones like you would normal hair.

Rita rarely shies away from her blonde hair so it is refreshing to see her take a risk and change it.

Is it a case of ‘long hair, don’t care’ with Beyoncé dramatic new style?!

Or maybe, after a couple of mega rocky weeks, Bey wants a fresh start with a major hair makeover.

The Drunk in Love singer has traded her flowing loose waves for incredibly long, caramel-to-blonde ombre braids.

Bey wore her new ‘do swept to the side, with the locks trailing right down to the top of her thigh in New York earlier this week.

She rocked similar braids earlier this year, and posted a snap with the styled tresses to her Instagram account in January.

But this time Bey has really come over all Rapunzel with this ‘do.

Will this be the style she’s sporting at Kim and Kanye’s wedding this weekend?

As long as she doesn’t upstage the bride, we don’t think Kim will really care either way!

Ooh, Ellie, we love it!

Ellie teased fans yesterday by posting a photo of her long hair with the caption: “Saying goodbye to my long hair.”

And she did just that! She later showed off the shorter style with a photo, writing only: “omfg.”

Only earlier that day she had shared another image of her beautiful long blonde hair done in a pretty loose braid.

Ellie, we aren’t going to lie, we thought you were going to go for a bob!

Perhaps she is slowly working up the courage, we would love to see her with a cute choppy bob.

Kylie Jenner’s family are said to be NOT happy with her for dying her hair blue just before Kim’s wedding.

The reality TV star unveiled her newly dyed electric blue locks last week, and says her mum Kris Jenner was fuming she had made such a bold style choice so close to her sister’s wedding this Saturday!

She said, ”One day I was just like, ‘I’m going blue’. They’re all really p****d. My mom was like ‘you look like a Skittle [candy].’ I was like, ‘I’m gonna have this for two years now that you said that.’ ”

So bold!

Kim is said to be fuming with her little sister, who apparently has refused to dye her hair back to brunette for the big day.

Oh, the drama!

Maybe 16-year-old Kylie will have a change of heart nearer to the wedding, as she said she’s super excited to see Kim and Kanye tie the knot.

”We are very excited, of course a sister getting married is always exciting,” she said.

She could always be Kim’s ‘something blue’.

Modern Family star, Ariel Winter showed off her stunning new hair colour – and we are obsessed with it!

The actress first dyed her hair back in March but it seems she has now gone an even deeper shade.

Ariel joked that she was inspired by her namesake character in The Little Mermaid.

The hair colour makes a big difference to the actress’ usual hair colour which is a deep brunette.

Wow! Rihanna sure has gone for a dramatic look this time around!

The singer showed off her new PINK hair, which she says was inspired by Nicki Minaj, when she attended a basketball game last night.

It seems that the drastic new look may be a wig as she uploaded an image of her new hair to her Twitter account with the caption: “We raided Nicki’s wig closet for the summer! Bad gals just wanna have fun!”

We quite like it, it’s a little Katy Perry but very summery and more than anything we LOVE that cut on Rihanna.

That’s what each of these celebrities thought when they went for the big chop!

The beautiful Karlie Kloss started off the popular trend when she showed off her short hairstyle, and was closely followed by Taylor Swift – don’t they look like sisters?

Kaley Cuoco took photos of herself about to chop off all of her hair, and then afterwards of course.

Reese styled her hair into a vintage bob for this year’s Met Gala and, while uncurled, it would probably fall below her shoulders, we think a bob really suits her!
