Halloween

So Jemima Khan has just won Halloween, hands down.

The star pulled out all the stops last night as she headed off to a UNICEF charity event, dressing up in an amazing gorilla and cage costume.

The 40-year-old rocked up to the event in a wooden cage, knees tucked up to her chest, while a scary giant gorilla held her captive.

Could that be any more epic?

The star had gone to a lot of effort for her special appearance, and played up to the occasion on her social media.

Tweeting pictures of the fantastic costume, the socialite wrote: “Halloween! Off to UNICEF gig for Syrian refugees….On my way in a hearse…”

And if you thought that her big entrance was just for the awaiting cameras, you would be wrong!

The star was pictured still wearing her amazing costume late into the night, sitting at her table, in her cage, while chatting to other guests!

Jemima wasn’t the only one to put in the effort for London bash, with actor Hugh Grant showing up in a goat mask, and Guy and Rocco Ritchie dressing up as Breaking Bad characters Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

Well done guys, amazing!

Let's face it, if you haven't planned your Halloween costume by now, you're either staying in with Netflix tomorrow night or it's going to be an epic, off-the-cuff outfit put together in an hour.

Assuming it's the latter, we are here to help!

We've already covered pop culture costumes, couples costumes and celebs who went all out, but now we have a few epic ideas for those of you who are looking forward to a great night out but really have no will whatsoever to put the time and effort in.

Here we go…

1. Costume Not Found
Possibly THE simplest costume in the world, and it's unisex too. Plus, people will think you're a tech whizz when really your only computer skills involve stalking celebs on Instagram.

2. An emoji
So many expressive options! The masks below are available online, but with a pack of markers and some card you could just go all Art Attack and make your own. We vote for the poo emoji. It speaks volumes.

3. A retro housewife
All you need for this is some cat-eye glasses, anything with cherry print and a cute apron. Hello, Betty Draper.

4. A child of the Noughties
Take Julia Stiles as your inspiration and you'll have this costume ready in no time. Baggy pants, a crop top or anything with beading, and of course the essential two strands of hair hanging down from your ponytail. Girl power!

5. Zombify last year's costume
Zombie Red Riding Hood, Zombie Pirate, Zombie Minnie Mouse… the choices are endless.

6. A ceiling fan
Punny AND cute. Some pom poms, a skirt, a t-shirt and a permanent market are the only tools required for this. Now go and party!

7. A nerd
Bonus points if you already have the glasses! Be sure to push them up the bridge of your nose all night for extra poindexter-ness.

8. Fifty Shades of Grey
A cheeky trip to Woodies after work and you'll be all set. Even Jamie Dornan would be jealous!

9. FaceBook
As modelled by John Krasinski… we're guessing Emily Blunt wasn't attracted to him for his costume-making skills!

10. A party animal
A tiger, a zebra, a cat… if anyone asks what you are just start dancing and making animal noises. They'll get the picture.

Ah, Halloween. The one night out of the year that takes a little more preparation than throwing on some fake tan and putting your hair up.

Halloween costumes take effort, people. Well, usually they do. We won't deny you the opportunity to just put on a witch's hat and be done with it – but with some extra time and dedication just THINK what you could achieve!

If you're short on inspiration, check out these downright amazing celebrity costumes. Needless to say, we're very jealous. Cue a panic trip to Penney's for last minute supplies!

Here's our top ten countdown…

10. Alexa Chung – The Hamburglar
Childhood memories of birthday parties at McDonald's are suddenly flooding back to us:

9. Neil Patrick Harris and family – Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and Dorothy
There is no doubt that NPH is the king of family costumes. Sooo adorable. Although little Gideon Scott is clearly having none of this 'posing for a picture' malarkey. Even celebs can't get everything right!

8. Iggy Azalea – Cruella de Vil
Iggy donned this amazing monochrome outfit for Vevo's Halloween party last year in London. And what Cruella costume is complete without a live dalmatian?! Glenn Close would be proud!

7. Cindy Crawford – Slash from Guns N' Roses
You'd never know there was a supermodel under that giant curly wig! Cindy looked every bit the aging rocker for her Halloween costume last year, with husband Rande Gerber accompanying her as Axl Rose. Teamwork at its finest.

6. Fergie and Josh Duhamel – Día de los Muertos skeletons
Fergie paid homage to her great-grandmother's Mexican roots with this very intense Día de los Muertos costume last year. We love the make up!

5. Naya Rivera – Carmen Sandiego
Anyone who sat through a Computers class in primary school will remember sneakily playing Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? when you were meant to be practising typing with Mavis Beacon. Looks like Naya has the same childhood memory – what a costume!

4. Heidi Klum – every year, ever.
Heidi never fails to impress at her annual Halloween party in New York – our favourite has to be this epic glittery robot from her 2010 bash…

…Although last year's "95-year-old Heidi Klum" costume was pretty cool, too. Bonus points!

3. Neil Patrick Harris and family – Tweedledum, Tweedledee, Alice and the Rabbit
A second mention for NPH and David Burtka – they pull out the stops every year! How cute is little Harper Grace as Alice? Serious outift envy.

2. Ellen DeGeneres – Nicki Minaj
Those fake boobs. Enough said.

1. Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock – two old fishermen
What a genius way for these superstar pals to take Sandra's son Fisher trick-or-treating without attracting attention from fans! We are still laughing at those beards. Win!

Retail giant Walmart sparked huge controversy online yesterday with a VERY questionable category on their website's Halloween section.

The company was forced to apologise after advertising a range of "Fat Girl Costumes." Yes, really.

Shoppers took to social media to point out the massive faux-pas and at first received only generic apologies from the company:

Later though, Walmart released a media statement to officially say sorry for the mix-up. "This never should have been on our site," said the company. "It is unacceptable, and we apologise. We are working to remove it as soon as possible and ensure this never happens again."

They also responded directly to angry customers on Twitter:

It's thought the category name might have been a cruel joke by one of Walmart's web developers, as the costumes shown are very similar to those listed in the shop's "Women's Plus Size Adult" section.

Posted along the top of the section was a banner reading "Make it a monstrously big Halloween for less" which gave even further offence to some shoppers.

It probably wasn't the night Audrina Patridge had imagined when she got dressed up for Halloween – but we’ve all had those!

The former star of The Hills was seen in floods of tears having what looked like an intense fight with her boyfriend, Corey Bohan.

The couple have been dating since 2009, although have been on and off since then.

The night appeared to start off as a happy one, with the couple arriving together – Corey dressed up as a sheriff and Audrina…well, Audrina dressed up too! What as we’re not so sure. Maybe sexy vampire?

However, the evening took a turn for the worst, let’s face it, sometimes they do and Audrina and Corey were seen having a blowout fight while reportedly waiting for their taxi.

It’s a good thing we don’t have paparazzi to snap us after a night out – scoffing garlic cheese chips. Now those we would not want to wake up to.

It has not been reported yet as to whether or not the fight has resulted in a break-up for the long-term couple, but we’re sure they’ll work it out!
