In the days that followed the initial allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Quentin Tarantino took to Twitter to tell his followers that he would need to take time off social media in order to process the reports.

"Utterly shocked by the revelations about Harvey. He is a good friend, but if he is guilty, there are issues that are inevitable," the director wrote.

"We need to stand up and support victims of abuse such as the brave and inspiring women who have spoken out."

However, it seems the director was more aware of the movie mogul's conduct than he initially admitted on Twitter – something he addressed during a recent interview with The New York Times.

"I knew enough to do more than I did," the 54-year-old revealed.

Admitting that he received first-hand information on the subject, he continued: "There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip. It wasn’t secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things."

Indeed, Quentin's former girlfriend, Mira Sorvino, once revealed that she had been mistreated by Weinstein – something Quentin didn't pursue because he felt that it wouldn't happen again once Weinstein was aware of their relationship.

Acknowledging that his attitude to the incidents fell massively short, he did attempt to explain how he navigated them, by saying: "What I did was marginalize the incidents,. Anything I say now will sound like a crappy excuse.”

“I chalked it up to a ’50s-’60s era image of a boss chasing a secretary around the desk,” he said. “As if that’s O.K. That’s the egg on my face right now," the director added.

“We allowed it to exist because that’s the way it was,” he said.

Channing Tatum has decided to pull the plug an upcoming project he was working on with The Weinstein Company.

The decision to halt the development of Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock, comes after a string of serious allegations were made against the company's co-founder, Harvey Weinstein.

The film, based on the 2013 Matthew Quick novel, tells the story of troubled teenager whose life is destroyed as a result of sexual abuse.

Teaming up with Magic Mike producer, Reid Carolin, the project was set to be Channing's co-directorial debut.

A joint statement issued on Instagram reads: “The brave women who had the courage to stand up and speak their truth about Harvey Weinstein are true heroes to us. They are lifting the heavy bricks to build the equitable world we all deserve to live in.”

“Our lone project in development with TWC – Matthew Quick's brilliant book, Forgive Me Leonard Peacock – is a story about a boy whose life was torn asunder by sexual abuse. While we will no longer develop it or anything else that is property of TWC, we are reminded of its powerful message of healing in the wake of tragedy.”

“This is a giant opportunity for real positive change that we proudly commit ourselves to. The truth is out – let's finish what our incredible colleagues started and eliminate abuse from our creative culture once and for all.”

Harvey Weinstein has resigned from The Weinstein Company's board, though he still retains almost a quarter of the company's stock, despite numerous women making allegations of sexual harassment and assault.

Oprah Winfrey has given her opinion on the Harvey Weinstein case, which has exposed the dark side of sexism and sexual assault in Hollywood in recent weeks.

An expose by New York Times revealed decades of harassment, rape and inappropriate behavior from one of Tinsel Town's most powerful players – and more women are coming forward every day.

Ophrah told CBS This Morning that she felt that the scandal was a 'moment' for women, speaking out.

A post shared by Oprah (@oprah) on

'I think this is a moment, where no matter what business you work in, the women who not only had the disease to please, that’s a part of it, but who felt that in order to keep my job, to keep my position, in order to keep moving forward…I’ve got to smile,' she told This Morning.

'I’ve gotta look the other way. I’ve gotta pretend he didn’t say that. He didn’t touch me.'

'Those days are about to be over,' she continued, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

'I’m always trying to look for the rainbow in the cloud, whatever is the silver lining,' said the TV mogul.

'And this is what I do know for sure: Something this major happens, when you have the fallout, 50 women coming forward, that it’s a watershed moment.'

Lena Headey is the latest in a long list of women who has chosen to speak out against Harvey Weinstein in recent weeks.

Taking to Twitter this afternoon, the Game of Thrones actress revealed that she was propositioned by the movie mogul twice over the course of her career – exchanges which put her 'on high alert' and left her feeling 'completely powerless'.

In a series of tweets, the actress recalls her first meeting with Weinstein, explaining that she was at the Venice Film Festival when he made a suggestive comment.

"I just laughed it off. I was genuinely shocked, I remember thinking 'it's got to be a joke', I said something like 'oh come on mate, it'd be like kissing my dad! Let's go get a drink, get back to the others'."

Lena feels her rejection of Weinstein in that moment had an impact on her career, writing: "I was never in any other Miramax films."

The 44-year-old actress goes on to outline the next incident which involved Weinstein.

Assuming her initial rejection meant he was unlikely to make a second advance towards her, Lena found herself stunned when she met him for breakfast and was cajoled up to his bedroom.

"I'm not interested in anything other than work, please don't think I got in [the lift] with you for any other reason," she told him.

"He was silent after I spoke, furious," Lena remembers in her tweet. "His hand was on my back, he was marching me forward, not a word, I felt completely powerless."

"He tried his keycard and it didn't work. The he got really angry," she recalls.

After marching her out to the car park, Lena recalls Weinstein telling her not to tell her manager or agent about their exhange.

"I got into my car and I cried," she wrote.

Lena has been inundated with siupport since she decided to share her story with fans and followers, with one Twitter user writing: "This is heartbreaking. You didn’t deserve this. No woman deserves this."

It's highly likely that for every report you've read on the acts allegedly carried out by Harvey Weinstein, you've read as many statements from Hollywood heavy-hitters condemning his conduct.

However, while the likes of Emma Thompson provided a reasoned assessment of Hollywood and the wider world's mistreatment of women, many would argue that  actresses like Mayim Bialik did not.

The Big Bang Theory star has been the subject of intense criticism since penning an op-ed for The New York Times entitled Being a Feminist in Harvey Weinstein's World.

Mayim begins her piece with a reflection on her first impression of the entertainment industry as a 'prominent-nosed, awkward, geeky, Jewish 11-year-old' and admits that she found herself consumed by the notion of self-improvement.

From longing for a smaller nose to wishing for more curves, Mayim was quick to identify that the aesthetic played as big, if not bigger, a role as talent in Hollywood, especially when it came to adolescent girls and young women.

Few can argue with such an assessment, but it's Mayim's next set of points which have raised considerable controversy.

In a move which has seen the actress accused of victim-blaming, Mayim outlines her approach to navigating the entertainment industry, and used both her choice of clothes and conduct as examples.

"I still make choices every day as a 41-year-old actress that I think of as self-protecting and wise," she said. "I have decided that my sexual self is best reserved for private situations with those I am most intimate with. I dress modestly. I don’t act flirtatiously with men as a policy."

While actively condemning the misuse of power in Hollywood along with alleged actions of Harvey Weinstein, the actress appears to place responsibility at the feet of women who are trying to navigate an industry known for its misogyny.

"In a perfect world, women should be free to act however they want. But our world isn’t perfect. Nothing — absolutely nothing — excuses men for assaulting or abusing women. But we can’t be naïve about the culture we live in."

Unsurprisingly, the article has come in for massive criticism online, with Twitter uesrs slating the actress for her supposedly feminist take on sexual assault.

Mayim has responded to the backlash on her own Twitter page and insisted that the accusations levelled at her are 'absurd'.

"It's so sad how vicious people are being when I basially live to make things better for women," she wrote.

Mayim's article comes just days after Donna Karan suggested women were 'asking for it' on account of the clothes they choose to wear.

Twitter was up in arms last night after TV presenter, James Corden, kicked off a charity gala with a joke about alleged sexual offender, Harvey Weinstein.

Taking to the stage in front of a number of Hollywood A-listers including Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks, James made light of the serious allegations made against the famed producer.

Speaking to the crowd, he said: “It’s a beautiful night here in LA. So beautiful, Harvey Weinstein has already asked tonight up to his hotel to give him a massage.”

Understandably, the 'joke' was met with mixed reaction, with many believing the gag was in poor taste.

Realising he may have upset some members of the audience, the host responded with:  “I don’t know whether that groan was because you like that joke or you don’t like that joke.”

“If you don’t like that joke, you should probably leave now.”

At this point, we're thinking 'James, just quite while you're ahead' – but alas, he continued to rub salt in the wound.

“It has been weird this week though, watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water.”

“Ask any of the women who watched him take a bath, it’s weird watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water.”

“Harvey Weinstein wanted to come tonight, but he’ll settle for whatever potted plant is closest.”

Of course, the jokes were widely condemned on Twitter, with some accusing the star of belittling the bravery of all the women that have come forward so far.

In 2009, Kate Winslet won the best actress Oscar for her performance in The Reader – a film financed and distributed by Harvey Weinstein's company.

During her acceptance speech, the British star thanked 19 people by name and many others in general, but excluded Harvey Weinstein.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Kate said:  “That was deliberate. That was absolutely deliberate.”

“I remember being told. ‘Make sure you thank Harvey if you win’. And I remember turning around and saying, ‘No I won’t. No I won’t’.”

Not shy about making her feelings know, the actress went on to explain the sense of relief she felt over the fact she would never again have to deal with the producer.

“The fact that I’m never going to have to deal with Harvey Weinstein again as long as I live is one of the best things that’s ever happened and I’m sure the feeling is universal.”

Describing Harvey as “bullying and nasty”, she told the newspaper how the producer never let her forget the fact that her first movie, Heavenly Creature, was made by his company, Miramax Films.

“For my whole career, Harvey Weinstein, whenever I’ve bumped into him, he’d grab my arm and say, ‘Don’t forget who gave you your first movie’. Like I owe him everything.”

“Then later, with The Reader, same thing, ‘I’m gonna get you that Oscar nomination, I’m gonna get you a win, I’m gonna win for you’.”

“But that’s how he operated. He was bullying and nasty. Going on a business level, he was always very, very hard to deal with — he was rude.”

Meanwhile, the organisation behind the Academy Awards has expelled the film producer over a string of sexual assault and harassment allegations made against him.

While adding her voice to the current dialogue surrounding Harvey Weinstein, Heidi Klum asserted that the stories emerging from Hollywood at the moment are indicative of a wider problem.

Speaking to People, the German-born model said that the women speaking up against Weinstein represent a much larger number of women who have been mistreated in various industries internationally.

"This is one example of the more pervasive problem of the mistreatment of women around the world," she said when discussing the recent allegations.

"I think it would be hard to find a woman – myself included – who have not had an experience where they have felt intimidated or threatened by a man using his power, position or his physical stature."

Both Harvey Weinstein and his wife Georgina have professional ties with Heidi as the former co-produced Project Runway over the last number of years while the latter has appeared on the show.

Heidi paid tribute to the women who have spoken up against the Hollywood heavy-hitter, saying: "I truly admire these brave women who are coming forward to share their stories because change cannot come unless there is a dialogue and people are held accountable."

Harvey is currently seeking treatment in the States.

As more and more actresses come forward to share their stories of harassment or assault at the hands of Harvey Weinstein, more and more actors are speaking out against the movie mogul.

But it looks like Weinstein's dark past is set to cast a long shadow as incidents involving the producer have ignited feelings of remorse and contrition among those who failed to at on information they were given.

One such bystander, for whom recent news has left him questioning his own response to industry misconduct, is British actor, Colin Firth.

In recent days, former actress, Sophie Dix, who starred with Colin in The Advocate, revealed she chose to leave the industry after an encounter with Weinstein left her traumatised.

After being forced onto a hotel bed by Weinstein in 1990, Sophie explained that she managed to break free and hide in the en suite only to find Weinstein masturbating upon her decision to re-enter the bedroom.

Colin Firth has this week revealed that his former co-star told him of the incident, but he failed to act on it.

Releasing a statement to The Guardian on the subject, Colin said: I am extremely pleased that Sophie is speaking out after so many years. I ran into her at a party some time after filming Hour of the Pig – around 25 years ago. She told me she had had a distressing encounter with Harvey Weinstein."

"I don’t think she went into all the horrific detail I’ve read in her interview. But I remember her being profoundly upset by it. To my shame, I merely expressed sympathy. I didn’t act on what she told me."

"It was a long time ago and I don’t know if she remembers telling me, but the fact that I had that conversation has come back to haunt me in the light of these revelations. It’s the only direct account of this kind of behaviour by Harvey Weinstein that’s ever been told to me."

"What I heard, it turns out, was part of a horrifying pattern. Other women have been hurt since. And those of us who didn’t act on our one bit of knowledge – and especially those of us who went on to work with Weinstein – have that on our conscience.  I admire Sophie’s courage. This can’t have been easy.”

Responding to Colin's statement, Sophie expressed gratitude, saying: "I am delighted Colin has spoken and I remember him being very supportive at the time."

"It’s never easy speaking out but I wanted to help resolve this problem and show that women cannot be treated like this in the workplace.”

Colin starred in The King's Speech  which was backed by Miramax – the company founded by the Weinstein brothers.

US TV anchor, Lauren Sivan, one of the first stars to come forward in the Harvey Weinstein scandal, has said he should be prosecuted.

The call comes after a number of stars made allegations against the Hollywood producer, accusing him of sexual harassment.

Lauren claims that during a 'tour' of his restaurant, Weinstein cornered her in an empty kitchen before performing a sex act on himself and forcing her to watch.

The anchor, who was 29-years-old at the time of the alleged incident, says she remained silent for ten years because she was afraid the claims could ruin her career.

However, after actresses Rose McGowan and Ashley Judd came forward with similar accusation, Lauren felt it was finally time to speak up.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Lauren called for for Harvey to be jailed:

“Here in America if someone committed the same act on a subway, they would be in jail, if I could prove it,” she said.

“If they are in fact true then I believe he should be prosecuted. This was illegal, it was criminal what he did. His excuse that this was just 60s and 70s office culture is just absurd and, frankly, offensive.”

She went on to explain why she kept her story out of the public eye for such a long time:

“When it first happened, I never really wanted to go public with it, I didn’t want it to be on my obituary. In a heartbeat he could shut me down quite quickly. I didn’t have any physical evidence and it was my word against his and he would have had an army of lawyers.”

Adding: “The reason I came out was not because I felt brave and strong enough. It was because those actresses, Ashley and Rose, who told these stories so bravely.”

Laurnen finished off by saying how she hopes these stories will help other women who may have experienced similar situations, and encouraged them to speak up.

“There are more coming out every day and there are those that will never come out. I don’t think we should blame victims for taking their time to talk about it. We should blame the people that were enabling this man, who were bringing women up to his hotel room.”

“There must be someone to speak out who wasn’t a victim but who could have done something to prevent this predator.”

Cara Delivinge is the latest star to come forward in the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Earlier today, the model-tuned-actress took to Instagram to releases a lengthy statement detailing a experience she had with the famed producer in which he invited her back to his hotel room and asked her to kiss another woman.

“When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe,” she explained.

Adding: “He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances.”

The initial meeting has been in relation to a role in an upcoming film, and even though Cara ended up with the part, she admitted she felt guilt about it ever since.

“I still got the part for the film and always thought that he gave it to me because of what happened.”

“Since then I felt awful that I did that movie. I felt like I didn't deserve the part.”

Cara also revealed details of an uncomfortable phone conversation she had Harvey when she was just finding her feet in the world of acting, during which he referenced her sexuality and told her she'd never “make it as an actress.”

“When I first started to work as an actress, I was working on a film and I received a call from‎ Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media,” she said.

“It was a very odd and uncomfortable call…. I answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood.”

The star finished off by reminding victims of sexual abuse to that they are never to blame for the actions of others, and encouraged women to talk about their experiences.

You can read Cara's full statement below:

When I first started to work as an actress, i was working on a film and I received a call from‎ Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media. It was a very odd and uncomfortable call….i answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood. A year or two later, I went to a meeting with him in the lobby of a hotel with a director about an upcoming film. The director left the meeting and Harvey asked me to stay and chat with him. As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn't and wouldn't be for a bit and I should go to his room. At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn't want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction. I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing….i thought it would make the situation better….more professional….like an audition….i was so nervous. After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room. I still got the part for the film and always thought that he gave it to me because of what happened. Since then I felt awful that I did the movie. I felt like I didn't deserve the part. I was so hesitant about speaking out….I didn't want to hurt his family. I felt guilty as if I did something wrong. I was also terrified that this sort of thing had happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear.
