We’ve all met these people at least once on a night out at home, at Christmas or on the holidays, they will be there. In the club. Waiting for you.

1. The friend you haven’t seen for years.
You used to hang out with this person all the time, and as life progressed you slowly drift apart, when all of a sudden you’re holding their hair for them as they vomit or you’re dragging them away from a scrap, you begin realising why you stopped hanging out with them.

Friend_hug2.The ”one that got away”
We all have this person in our lives, that guy/gal who you were obsessed with for years, who you slowly became friends with and you know they’ll always be the one that got away.

3.The Douche from secondary school you hated.
God this ones a douchebag, I mean seriously, why do people like this guy.

 4.The distant relative
They’re your seventh cousin on your step-grandfather’s side twice removed, but they’re still family.

5.That one kid who never used to go out.
Holy s**t this kids out, what the hell, they never used to go out and now they’ve got a beer belly, damn uni changes people.

6.That guy/girl who never has their own cigarettes.
”Hey mate can you bum me a smoke?” Dear jesus they can afford to spend all that money on drink and they can’t buy a lousy pack of smokes?

7.That Guy/Girl who’s always Minesweeping drinks.
Crafty little b*****d, how the hell do they do it? You hate them for doing it but you secretly wish you could do it without being caught.

steal8.That guy/girl who’s minted
Buying drinks for everyone, five packets of smokes in their pocket, best clothes on all the time, brand new shoes, nice for some eh?

10.That Guy
Yeah that guy…

Traveling is a very stressful time for everyone. The slightest turn of events can ruin your day and when things go wrong, they go very wrong. If you have traveled through an airport recently or you are dreaming of your summer plans, be prepared.

1. Baggage
Is it necessary to be so overly strict on baggage. When you go into Dunnes or Penneys or Samsonite for our posh readers, are we really supposed to bring a measuring tape and measure the correct size? No. And, does it really matter if the bag looks too full? Give us a break. If you come across an air hostess that insists you check in your carry on – don’t take it lying down. You take out every jumper in the case and put them on. Take crap from no one.

2. First Class
If you can’t spot the rich folk in the airport, check out their bags. They will either be massive or designer. These rich people are the worst on long haul flights. If you’re flying on a plane that has first class and coach, it is like you are in a massive doctor’s waiting room and they are calling up everyone who is better than you first. They swan on to first class and get their luxury bed and better food. Oh god how we hate them.

3. Gates
Your gate is boarding in an hour. Great news, you can get a nice meal before you get on the plane. Now it’s a half an hour until the gate closes. You will start walking but realise it is 20 minutes away. Then you start running. The panic and stress between now and boarding will cause a serious amount of sweat.

4. Duty Free Prices
So, you are on your way to your European destination and you need to buy alcohol before you go. Ah yes the duty free is nice and cheap – 2 litres for €20, brilliant. You go to pay and are told: “Oh sorry that is only for people flying to countries outside the E.U. If you squint your eyes and look at the tiny price in the bottom corner – that is how much they are.” Bring in the awkward moment of putting it all back.

5. Liquids
This 100ml rule needs to end. It is so bloody stressful and now Dublin airport are insisting you have to use their plastic bags. Grrrrr.

6. Searched
There is nothing worse than going through security and getting beeped. Then the always-awkward rub down from the security woman or man. Oh the shame. And if you’re prone to these incidents, you’ll usually look so nervous that it looks like you have something to hide. Just madness.

7. Bad food choices
Is it wrong to expect a McDonalds in every airport? Is it wrong to shiver at the sight of a Quick burger? And is it okay to be sad when all they have are two overpriced restaurants serving below average food?

8. Leaving things behind
Whether you are the person who rushes everyone or you have a friend or parent who is, there are serious consequences. When you get overwhelmed in an airport and are in a rush, you can leave things behind. The gifts to bring home, the vodka for a festival you are going to in a few weeks or that large Toblerone you have been craving. But, you know what is worse? Leaving stuff behind on the plane – so close yet so far.

9. Rude staff
When airport staff are rude it ruins your day, so watch out for this one. You catch someone on a bad day and you could be forced to check your carry-on bag or undergo an unpleasant security search.

10. Bag checks
There is nothing worse than having to open up your bag at security. It doesn’t matter if your underwear is on top or not – it is still awkward and embarrassing. And, most of all, it wastes time that could be spent eating a burger and chips.

11. False promises
When your flight is delayed and you are promised it will take off soon and then it’s delayed more and you’re promised it won’t be long and then it’s cancelled. Worst feeling ever.

These festivals are full of culture, colour and fun. If you are lucky enough, you may experience a few of them.

1. Fourth of July – US
Held, unsurprisingly, on the 4th of July each year all over the United States. Barbecues, beer and the American flag are all a staple part of any good 4th of July celebration!

2. Mardi Gras – New Orleans, US
Beginning on January 6th and stretching until Shrove Tuesday, you have about 11 hours left to get to the best city for celebrating Mardi Gras!

3. Oktoberfest – Munich, Germany
A 16 day festival running from the end of September until the first week of October. A celebration of Bavarian culture, dress and of course, beer.

4. La Tomatina – Buñol, Spain
Held on the last Wednesday of August each year, this day consists mainly of throwing tomatoes at people. What a fun mess!

5. Diwali – Nepal, India
Also known as the Festival of Lights, this ancient Hindu tradition is held in autumn each year. The festival celebrates the victory of lightness over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil and hope over despair.

6. St Patrick’s Day – Dublin, Ireland
I’m sure most of us know about this one and there is nowhere like Dublin on Paddy’s Day for fun, festivities and Guinness!

7. Holi Festival, India
This is also known as the Festival of Colours and is another ancient Hindu tradition. The festival has become increasingly popular with travellers and promotes community spirit as everyone is fair game in this colourful and friendly fight!

8. Carnival – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Held around the same time as Mardi Gras, before Lent, Rio is renowned for holding one of the most famous Carnival celebration.

Everybody tells themselves at least one little white lie before setting off on their travels and before you deny it, have a read of the top six travels lies we all tell ourselves:

1. You won’t go on Twitter or Facebook while you’re away
Ha, yeah right! You’ll be checking yourself in to every cocktail bar you hit.

2. You will blend in with the locals
No matter how hard you try to blend in, your pale skin and Irish accent will give you away in no time at all.

3. You’ll learn the language while you are there
Again, we laugh. Unless you are going there to study or for at least a year, this is just wishful thinking.

4. You will text your mum as soon as you land
Unless you hit a bar first…

5. You’ll buy everyone at home a really thoughtful souvenir
No, a rock candy does not count as thoughtful.

6. You won’t waste the morning in bed
Well, this really depends on what you got up to the night before.

Admit it, you tell yourself at least one of these…
