We’ve all seen the heartbreaking images of the kids affected by raging wars; Aylan Kurdi’s body washed up on shore and little Omran Dagneesh who sat in an ambulance shocked after his home was bombed.

Sadly, these heartbreaking images are just a teeny insight into the horror that migrant and refugee children face as they travel, some alone, some with their families, across the continent of Europe searching for a better place to live.

Sadly, according to the Daily News, in 2015, more than 100,000 unaccompanied minors applied for asylum in 78 countries – some as young as six

And in January 2016, the Guardian reported that at least 10,000 refugee and migrant children have gone missing since arriving in Europe. Many of these minors are feared to be the victims of child trafficking.

Each day, more and more unaccompanied minors arrive at Europe’s shores, at risk of a similar fate, and Hozier, along with John Connors, Bláthnaid Treacy, Little Green Cars and Wyvern Lingo want the EU to do something.

Working with a small, grassroots organisation called Bray Refugee Solidarity Group, they are calling for the public to sign a petition to  help get the message to The Justice and Home Affairs Council of Europe that Ireland will not abandon or forget about these vulnerable children.

The charity are calling for the public to sign the petition to shine a light on these missing children, and the thousands more that will continue to disappear if we don’t do something now.

"These are children who have fled war and famine, witnessed the bloody murder of family and friends, who have sailed past the floating dead bodies of their fellow country men, women and children and we believe that when they arrive on European shores, they should be guaranteed safety, and the protection of their basic rights."

Our favourite Aussie actress, Margot Robbie, has confessed to being a super-fan of our very own Hozier.

The Wolf of Wall Street star spoke to RTÉ TEN recently, where she explained how excited she was at the news of Hozier's involvement in the Tarzan project.

Hozier signed on to write the theme song for Margot's latest movie The Legend of Tarzan, and she has referred to the Greystones man as "the nicest guy in the whole world".

"When I heard Hozier was doing the song for this I could have died. I am a massive fan of him," the actress said.

“Funnily enough, it was when we were shooting Tarzan in 2014 that I was absolutely obsessed with his album for the first time."

Margot's Tarzan co-star, and total HUNK, Alexander Skarsgard, said that she used to play Hozier's album on set during filming.

How cute is that?

The Legend of Tarzan is in cinemas now, and it is ABSOLUTELY brilliant!

Hozier came back with a bang this month after he released a track for the upcoming film, The Legend of Tarzan.

Entitled, Better Love, everyone (including his fans) thought that this was his comeback song – the track that would welcome him back into the music industry after taking some time off.

But as it turns out, the singer is flying right back under the radar.

"I'm going to take some time off so this is the last thing I'm going to be putting my name to for a little while," he told RTÉ TEN.

"I'm going to disappear for a while and work on the next album.

"In a similar way how I worked the first time round, go to a very quiet space and just see how the demos take shape," he added.

Even though we'll miss him in the charts, we're looking forward to a brand new music from the Irishman.

Hozier is making a comeback and has already teased his new single.

The Wicklow native has been taking a break from the music scene for a couple of months, going on hiatus in March to have some downtime.

The track is for the new Tarzan film, which stars Margot Robbie, Alex Skarsgard and Samuel L Jackson.

Hozier teased the song on Instagram, telling his followers: "Very happy to announce my new song 'Better Love' will be released as part of the @legendoftarzan film soundtrack starring #AlexSkarsgard, @margotrobbie, #ChristopherWaltz, and @samuelljackson. Stay tuned for more soon!"

We can't wait to hear the rest of the song!

Let's be honest, we love it when our international artists show off a little bit of their Irish side.

And Hozier, while on a hiatus from music, did just that while in Killarney recently.

The Wicklow native shared a throwback video on Instagram of himself at the Ladies View – a portion of the Ring of Kerry which "name apparently stems from the admiration of the view given by Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting during their 1861 visit."

The musician got a great laugh by being a "rebel" and breaking the rules by being a male in the women-only spot.

But, something that stuck out to us more than ever, was the caption he put on the video:

Throwback to rebel antics #ladiesview #ladiesonly #breakingtherules shmad lad.

Yep. "SHMAD LAD."

How Irish?! We're sure his American fans haven't a notion what he's on about.

A "glamorous gang of hobos" is how Eoghan McDermott describes his trip away with Niall Horan and Hozier.

While speaking to Goss.ie, the presenter revealed plans of travelling around Connemara with the musical duo – if they can fit it in.

“We have said that a gang of us, there’s about seven or eight of us that used to hang around in London when we were all there, would love to go just to Connemara for a little while.

“If schedules permit it would be deadly," he said. "We'd be like a glamorous gang of hobos in a van."

We don't know about you, but we certainly wouldn't mind travelling around in that van, and now that Niall is on a hiatus, it might actually happen.

Hozier will appear on The Late Late Show this Friday night, March 11, and if you play your social media cards right you could have a front row seat.

Ryan Tubridy and co. are looking for Hozier's biggest fans (or at least the most inquisitive ones) to form part of the studio audience for this week's Late Late.

To be in with a chance of scoring tickets, you simply need to let RTÉ know the ONE question you'd ask Hozier if you had the chance to meet him face-to-face.

You can submit your question via Twitter using the hashtag #HozierLLS, or via the RTÉ One and Late Late Show Facebook pages (keep an eye out there for details).

The lucky few who submit the "most interesting and intriguing questions" will be selected for this Friday's studio audience. As well as getting to hear Hozier perform Cherry Wine live on the night, they may even get the chance to ask Hozier the question themselves live on air.

While that sounds like it could end up being just a tad awkward, we'd never sniff at the chance to see Hozier singing live, just a few feet away.

Please note that you must be over 18 to form part of The Late Late Show's studio audience.

Yet another famous actress is set to appear in a music video for Irish sensation Hozier.

Yep, the 25-year-old singer has the uber-talented Oscar-nominated actress Saorise Ronan guest-starring in his upcoming music video for Cherry Wine.

With all the proceeds for the video going to victims of domestic abuse, the video will star Saoirse in the throes of a terrible, hurtful relationship.

And according to the Irish Independent, Hozier is delighted to have a fellow Irish talent on board for the single.

"I’m honoured to be joined by Saoirse Ronan, Dearbhla Walsh and Moe Dunford in spreading awareness on this issue.

"Domestic violence is an ongoing issue in our society, the statistics of which are shocking and the effects of which damage whole families, communities and span generations," he said.

"With the song Cherry Wine, I tried to get across the difficulty of coming to terms with and facing up to domestic violence and the dynamic of an abusive relationship."

Saoirse too seems ecstatic to be on board.

"The song has always been one of my favourite tracks on his album. I hope through the video and song we can shine light on the issue and complexity of domestic abuse and in doing so help those caught up in the cycle of domestic violence."

We can't wait to see this one.

We've always known Hozier was a fairly sound lad despite his skyrocketing levels of fame, and now he's proven that yet again.

The Bray native is one of a host of Irish musicians and entertainers taking part in RTÉ 2fm's Christmas charity appeal, to raise much-needed funds for the ISPCC.

This Thursday December 3, 2fm will broadcast live from the window of Benetton on Stephen's Green, where hosts of each show will be joined by some huge Irish names.

As well as Hozier – who we're hoping will sing a song or two – other guests include Jamie Heaslip, Vogue Williams, Hometown, RipTide Movement and Angela Scanlon.

So if you have a few minutes free on your lunch break or are in the capital to get some Christmas shopping done, stop by the window and you could find yourself watching Hozier perform live – albeit behind a pane of glass.

If you can't make it to Stephen's Green, you can follow the action live on 2fm between 7am and 7pm, or check out the updates on Twitter and Facebook.

Plus, Hozier will be performing at the 2fm Ball at the 3Arena on December 23rd, along with Little Green Cars, Gavin James, RipTide Movement, Hudson Taylor and more. Tickets for the event start at €45 and are on sale now in aid of the ISPCC.

As part of the campaign, listeners can also enter to win an incredible 3Arena Golden Ticket, entitling them to two tickets to EVERY show in the 3Arena and EVERY MCD open air concert in 2016. Adele, Little Mix, Rihanna… you name it.

To enter – and donate to the ISPCC – simply text 2fmBall to 50300 between now and Thursday afternoon.

Hozier… a man after our own heart.

The singer was in New York yesterday to record an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and he took over the show's Instagram account for the day while he was at it.

Among the many behind-the-scenes snaps was this AMAZING photo of his backstage grub, which included Barry's Tea, Tayto and Dairy Milk (Whole Nut AND plain, obvz).

Behold. The fuel of my kinsmen fills the @hozier band-room. #FallonTonight

He might be a global superstar with a heap of prestigious awards to his name, but it seems all Hozier wants backstage is a taste of home.

It's not only his food tastes that are low-key, though – the singer is known for having a ridiculously out of date phone, too:

Hey America. I'm up in your skies. Answering your calls +1 646-812-3313

Yet he STILL manages to post to Instagram? Strange.

Over the last couple of months the Bray native, whose is real name Andrew Hozier Byrne, has been touring the US and Canada, though he did make time for a visit to his beloved Ireland last month.

Just in time for the end of "summer":

It's good to be back in Ireland, rain and everything.

Well, at least the food never lets us down…

Hozier is never one to let us down when he takes to the Live Lounge studio.

Apparently we aren’t the only ones who think so because aside from his Grammy nomination and impressive sales figures, he has also gotten some serious flattery from fellow singer-songwriter Sam Smith.

Known for putting his own unique spin on some well-known tunes whenever he visits the BBC studios, Hozier blew everyone away with his Lay Me Down cover.

Just as we’re recovering from that incredible music moment, excitement is quickly reaching peak levels again at the thoughts of a collaboration between two of our favourite artists.

Sam himself took to twitter to congratulate Hozier on his performance saying he loved the cover, and pretty much anything else Hozier sings.

We feel the same way Sam.

Hozier was only delighted with himself and responded by saying it was “an absolute joy” to cover one of Sam’s tracks.

There’s an awful lot of love being shared between these two mutual fans.

This sounds like it might be the perfect excuse to get together and start making some music as a duo. We can live in hope right? The world may not yet be ready for such musical magic.
