Instagram

We've all been there.

You're 18 weeks deep on your crush's Instagram and you accidentally double-tap a photo of him with his dog.

Like any self-respecting millennial, you shriek in horror, throw your phone against the wall and wait for the sea of shame to flood over your body before booking a one-way ticket to a far-off land.

Social media etiquette is no joke, and while we know there are worse things going on in this world, revealing ourselves for the creeps we truly are will never sit well with any of us.

And it looks like GLOW's Jackie Thon knows the dilemma all too well.

We'll let her take it from here…

An Irish student has taken it upon herself to fight the myth that healthier people weigh less, by sharing a before-and-after photo documenting her two stone weight gain.

Originally from Co. Clare, Amie Wiley weighed 8st 9lbs in 2013. In order to maintain her slim figure, she followed a strict, low calorie diet, eating minimal carbs and just a small amount of protein.

Now, at 18-years-old, Amie weighs in at 10st 9lbs thanks to her new diet of protein, carbs and unsaturated fats.

Happy #transformationtuesday my loves when I told you that I used to be so skinny with matchsticks legs I was not lying I genuinely used to be so skinny it was crazy  so here's my 4 year transformation. From skinny to strong #gainingweightiscool I couldn't be happier with how I currently am looking and I much prefer stronger Amie to skinny Amie also can we appreciate the over filtered before picture back in the bebo stunnah days when filters were very very overused anyways I shall leave this here! Picture 1: a skinny Amie who over did it on the cardio and ate very little VS Picture 2: a stronger Amie with much more muscle, who lifts weights and that eats much more food! (Carbs have my heart) HAVE A GREAT EVENING ALL

According to MailOnline, the fitness fanatic works out five days a week, focussing on a separate part of her body during each session.

Now living in London, Amie has documented her transformation on Instagram, where she has over 10,000 followers.

Happy #transformationtuesday  the picture on the left was taken in January and the one on the right was taken today in June!  I'm so happy with how far I've come since then the one thing I have learned is that it's all in the mind what a person can do and without having the mindset to get myself back to a weight I'm happy with and to get a healthy lifestyle back I wouldn't look the way I do today (I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the way I looked in January, i just personally didn't like the way I looked and now i feel so much happier and confident in my body than I did back then) Also I now fuel my body with much healthier foods and it makes me feel so much better aswell! I really let myself go starting college and I'm now happy to say that since then I'm in the best shape I have ever been in!! My legs are more defined, my waist is much smaller, my body fat is so much lower and the best part… I couldn't be happier exercise and a healthy lifestyle is so amazing and I'm so happy that I adore every bit of it  happy Tuesdayyyyy everyone

Deciding to ditch the exhausting cardio sessions and instead focus on weight training, Amie reveals that how the change has helped her not only physically, but mentally as well.

“Back in 2015 I decided to make the transition from cardio to weights."

“I just loved the idea of being toned and leaner and not just being a skinny girl who would just go to the gym to run on the treadmill or go on the cross trainer for hours.”

"Personally, I enjoy weights much more than cardio. You don't just benefit physically from weights but you benefit mentally as well."

It wouldn't be a Tuesday without a #transformationtuesday  This picture marks 2 transformations for me and Im hella gonna talk about them right now: Number 1) when I first started off the gym I was a cardio bunny, I literally went there and ran. I would literally run on the treadmill for hours and leave how I did it? I have no idea but that is what I did, don't get me wrong at the time I loved it but if i was asked to do that today lol dat would so NOT happen  I started weight lifting about 2.5 years ago and I've never looked back since  I LOVE weight lifting  it is the one major thing I look forward to every day and to be able to say that is super duper unreal because exercise and weight lifting is sooo good 4 u !! Yay @ endorphins  I used to be super skinny (hello pancake bum)and since starting weight lifting I am much more defined and happier, so yay! the gym makes me so happy and I would be lost without it, mad to say- i know!  but it's so true! -Not gonna lie it was super daunting at first heading into the branded "lads weights area" but once you've done it you've done it do it once and you will do it again! Which leads me onto my second point soooo… – 2) two weeks ago I posted a glute progression picture on this account (FOR MYSELF) and knowing from where I'm from- a small town, I knew It was inevitable that I would get some sort of comments made about it, which happened. Before posting that picture I stared at my phone screen for ages contemplating whether I should post it or not and after a while- I did! And right now I can just say that I am so happy and proud of myself that I did because now I do not give a fuck (pardon my french) what others think of me nor am I afraid of gossiping etc I never did care about this sort of thing, I'm such an easy going person but for some reason that just got to me, but out of it I've realised how many people actually support me and what I'm doing and it made me S O happy  – Everything I do I am doing for myself(with the added bonus of helping others along the way). I will continue to transform myself physically and mentally with thanks to the gym and I am so grateful!  u do u

She added, "Usually girls would shy away from using weights in fear of getting 'too big' or 'too bulky' but that cannot be further from the truth."

"Weights make me feel strong and confident much more than cardio ever did."

Speaking to MailOnline, Amie had some words of wisdom for anyone looking to start their own fitness journey.

"Everyone that goes to the gym is there to better themselves so don't be afraid and just go do it."

Instagram fans are being left shaken as a bug is attacking random accounts.

There does not seem to be any pattern with the attacks, which delete or disable Instagram pages.

The 'bug' was first noticed yesterday, as users clicked onto their Instagram app to find they were logged out.

After trying to log in, an error pop-up appears which says that their account has been deleted for supposedly violating Instagram's terms and conditions.

Tech blog The Verge has advised Insta users not to panic.

'From what we can tell, there isn’t an apparent similarity between these accounts to make them targets.'

'One user told The Verge that her Instagram was solely dedicated to her chocolate business, while another said she used it for personal posts.

'Another user, who owned at least 10 accounts, said some were related to businesses.'

'One user says she had used a third-party app to post content a long time ago while another said she never had.'

Instagram has responded to the distraught users, saying they are working on the issue.

'We're aware of a bug that's causing some users to be logged out of their accounts,' said the company, according to The Daily Mail.

'We're working to resolve this as quickly as possible.'

If you haven't scrolled past at least one 'before and after' shot on Instagram today, were you even on Instagram?

The social media site is a veritable haven for anyone who wants to document the changes their body has undergone as a result of mixture of regular exercise and clean-eating.

While they may be filtered AF, we tend to take these photographs at face value, and assume the person has genuinely undergone a serious transformation, but one woman who is keen to remind us that this might not always be the case is Millie Smith.

You can't airbrush away insecurity. You can't get self love from an app. You can't hide self hate under a edited selfie. There was a time when I wouldn't dream of posting a photo of myself online without at LEAST a heavy filter. 〰 The real me wasn't: Worthy enough Pretty enough Special enough. Beautiful enough. I got comments of 'woahhh beautiful babe' and all the rest which gave me brief moments of confidence;slowly turning into deep, low self loathing… 〰 All editing/filtering my selfies did was make me feel more ashamed of my natural face, more engrained into beauty ideals and basing my self worth on how I look;making me hate myself further. 〰 I wish I knew then the real me is: Worthy Beautiful special unique always photo ready. Do you truly know what the real you looks like? When was the last time you studied/appreciated your face? WE ARE ALL BLOODY BEAUTIFUL AS WE ARE . . Inspired by my squid @selfloveliv

The body-positive Instagrammer decided to highlight just how simple it is to fool followers into thinking you have altered the shape and size of your body.

Uploading a splitscreen shot of herself taken moments apart, Millie reveals how a pose and clever clothing can massively alter your appearance.

Same girl, same day, same time. 〰 With a camera angle and clothing I can change my body into something that society would deem more acceptable than the photo on the right. 〰 Recently insta was voted as the most damaging app to body image/self esteem. That's not ok. 〰 The media constantly wants us to be more filtered, more posed, more flexed. Making us ashamed, afraid and resentful of our bodies, our natural vessel. 〰 We compare ourselves to these images of posed, strategically taken photos. Comparing yourself is a thief of your joy/self love and even more so when you're comparing aesthetics to images that aren't reality. 〰 Both these photos are beautiful . Both these photos are worthy. However only one of these photos is truly me, comfortable and naturally loving myself… 〰 Get rid of accounts that make you feel negative, get rid of people in your life that don't make you feel happy, loved and beautiful. Don't let an all ruin your life.

"Same girl, same day, same time," she began in the post which has racked up almost 10,000 likes since its upload.

"With a camera angle and clothing I can change my body into something that society would deem more acceptable than the photo on the right."

Focussing on the influence the media has on our understanding of self-worth, she continued: "The media constantly wants us to be more filtered, more posed, more flexed.  Making us ashamed, afraid and resentful of our bodies, our natural vessel."

Tapping into something most Instagram users will relate to, she continued: "We compare ourselves to these images of posed, strategically taken photos."

"Comparing yourself is a thief of your joy/self love and even more so when you're comparing aesthetics to images that aren't reality."

Using the splitscreen shot to highlight the disparity between the real us and the us we post online, Millie finishd by saying: "Both these photos are beautiful@

"Both these photos are worthy. However only one of these photos is truly me, comfortable and naturally loving myself."

Millie, you do you.

Getting the likes on Instagram is a pretty great feeling.

After going to the trouble of capturing the perfect snap, it's time to edit, and choosing the right filter can have a make or break effect on your likes counter.

Researchers at Canva recently took a look at over one million Instagram posts, to asses which filters are the most popular among likers.

According to Bustle, data collected from US Instagram profiles show that five filters stand out among the rest.

Topping the popularity list is Clarendon, which takes first place as the most liked filter.

Following are Lark, Gingham, Juno and Valencia.

However, there is an exception to the rule.

If you want to get into double (or triple) digits for likes on a selfie the best filter is… no filter at all.

In the selfie category, Normal wins out.

So if you are planning on ruling the world, one Instagram like at a time, it's Clarendon for the win.

Over the course of the last thirty minutes, Rob Kardashian has posted multiple intimate shots of Blac Chyna on Instagram in a move which has led many to question Rob's current state of mind.

After claiming that the mother of his baby daughter, Dream, has been cheating on him, 30-year-old Rob uploaded photos which featured Chyna in various states of undress.

In addition to these graphic uploads, Rob went on to upload footage which shows Chyna before undergoing weightloss surgery which he says she denies.

"Everyone wonders how Chyna lost all that weight after the baby and she lies to everyone but no I'm such a great Husband that on our anniversary I paid 100K to do this surgery to get all everything fixed as much as they could," he wrote in the controversial upload.

Rob's decision to circulate nude images of his partner coincided with claims that she abuses alcohol and drugs, with one of Rob's post alluding to the quantity of alcohol she ordered to her home recently.

"U will never see Dream again unless u stop the alcohol and drugs and cocaine and X ad E. lol. That's called a party pack," he wrote.

We are major Instagram addicts at SHEmazing HQ, so when we stumbled upon this major hack, we were pretty impressed.

The photo-sharing app has quite a few delightful filters you can add over images to jazz them up a little, but sometimes the line-up can feel a tad stale.

Little did we know, but there are actually 40 filters to choose from on the app, but some of them are hiding.

When you edit an image, scroll to the very end where you'll find an application called Manage.

Once you click in, you'll see a scroll page featuring all the usual filters (some of which will be greyed out if you followed our other Instagram hack…)

However if you scroll down, it will soon become clear that there are a whole host of other filters that haven't been activated.

All you have to do it tap and activate the ones you want to try out, and with 18 secret ones to choose from, your Insta page is about to get a major refresh.

And voila, when you click back out of Manage, there will be a brand new line-up of filters in the Insta-assembly line with your old favourites.

The amount of new choices is pretty amazing, whether you want to brighten up a landscape image or salvage a selfie, there are now so many ways to do it.

The 'what filter?' question is about to get tougher…

Uploading to Instagram can take a little bit of time.

After securing the perfect picture, you then have to take the time to edit, and then finally make the difficult decision that has plagued millennials since the dawn of the Instagram age:

What filter to choose?

Scrolling tirelessly to find your favourite filter can be a bit of a bore, but for those of us who don't want to mess up a clean Insta theme, using the same filter is a necessity.

However, if you favour a filter that's hidden at the end of the Instagram assembly line you can spend a few extra seconds editing just getting to it.

Instagram plays host to a feature that allows you to move your favourite filters up close and personal, so you can tap on them straight away without having to scroll.

After moving the filter to the top of the list beside Normal, you won't ever have to scroll to search for it again.

The hack is pretty easy to execute.

Much like moving apps around your home screen on an iPhone, all you have to do is hold your finger down on a filter to lift it from the line.

Then, you can drag it into whatever position you see fit.

So you can even move a few of your favourites to the front of the line if you want all your most used filters close to hand.

We all have a few filters we definitely never use, like XX Pro, the least-popular luminous filter that has become the Instagram version of a social pariah.

If you particularly hate a filter, you can hide it from the line-up by dragging it up to the hide feature after lifting it from the assembly line.

So, you can completely tailor your filter line-up to suit your Instagram theme and save time in the editing suite.

Handy AF!

We've all been there.

You've taken ten (or twenty) near identical selfies, and you don't know whether to pick the one where your head is slightly tilted right or the one where your lips are slightly pouted.

The struggle is real.

But, we think we have just found the app of our dreams which chooses a selfie for you.

app, apple, application

EyeEm Selects will totally up your Instagram game by telling you which pictures you shouldn't post, and which ones you should.

The app uses image-recognition technology which takes its lead from professional photographers, meaning not only are your photos judged on composition and quality, but technical story too (which means keeping your captions fresh).

EyeEm Selects will also go through your existing camera roll and select old photos that you should be posting now.

The app is currently only available on Android, but an iOS version is on its way soon.

We're downloading it right now.

A fitness influencer has recently used her Instagram account to highlight the dangers associated with falling into the 'Instagram trap'.

Erin, who boasts more than 47,000 followers, uploaded a photo which she felt best illustrated her body's response to pressure she felt after comparing herself against other Instagram accounts.

The upload, which shows two photos of Erin side by side, were accompanied by a lengthy caption which explored her unhealthy relationship to fitness and body image.

A different kind of transformation Tuesday comin at ya. Left is February 2016, right is last week, June 2017. On the left I was ADDICTED to working out and was running myself into the ground. I was not eating close to what I should've been eating and ended up with a severe case of anemia causing a lack of energy to the point where I could barely get out of bed. Yet, I still forced myself to go to the gym although I felt like a zombie. The reason for this? Instagram. It becomes so easy to start comparing yourself to others on here, which led me to developing a mindset of – "how skinny can I get?" rather than "how healthy can I be?" A number on a scale does not and should not dictate happiness so I'm not going to get into that in this post. What I think I think is most important is how much HAPPIER I am in the photo on the right. I finally understand the term balance – my old idea of balance was cutting cals during the week, binging on the weekends, and then forcing myself to run miles on miles to make up for it. What is balance for me now? Listening to the cues my body gives me, eating intuitively (no more macros or calorie counting), nourishing my body with whole foods, taking rest days when my body needs them, and most importantly: prioritizing time with people I love. My only advice for you is don't fall into the Instagram trap. Not everything on here is picture perfect. Stop comparing yourself to others and start loving the body you have been given. After all, it is capable of great things!

"Left is February 2016, right is last week, June 2017. On the left I was ADDICTED to working out and was running myself into the ground," Erin admitted.

"I was not eating close to what I should've been eating and ended up with a severe case of anemia causing a lack of energy to the point where I could barely get out of bed."

"Yet, I still forced myself to go to the gym although I felt like a zombie. The reason for this? Instagram," she wrote.

Admitting that the social media platform wreaked havoc on her self-perception, Erin continued: "It becomes so easy to start comparing yourself to others on here, which led me to developing a mindset of – "how skinny can I get?" rather than "how healthy can I be?"

Insisting that a number on a scale is not indicative of anyone's happiness, Erin continued: "What I think I think is most important is how much HAPPIER I am in the photo on the right."

"I finally understand the term balance – my old idea of balance was cutting cals during the week, binging on the weekends, and then forcing myself to run miles on miles to make up for it. What is balance for me now?" Erin asked.

Concerned that her followers place too much emphasis on goals and targets over health and wellbeing, Erin advised her followers to take Instagram with a grain of salt.

"My only advice for you is don't fall into the Instagram trap. Not everything on here is picture perfect."

"Stop comparing yourself to others and start loving the body you have been given. After all, it is capable of great things," she finished in the post which has racked up more than 5,000 likes so far.

Lifestyle blogger, Rebecca Burger, has been killed following a tragic incident in which she was struck in the chest by a whipped cream dispenser that had exploded.

The 33-year-old reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest after the gadget malfunctioned.

The dispensers work by injecting gas into a pressurised metal canister, and it has now emerged that one French consumer group have been warning people about the potential threat for years.

Rebecca's family announced her death on Facebook and Instagram where she had around 200,000 followers.

A post shared by Rebecca Burger (@rebeccablikes) on

Women's Best, a health and fitness firm for whom Rebecca modelled, also paid tribute to the ''great athlete.''

“We are sad to have to announce the loss of this wonderful soul. Our French athlete Rebecca Burger died yesterday.”

“Rebecca was a great athlete and a kind and generous person with whom to work.”

“Pray for her to rest in peace and for her family to remain strong. We will always be proud of you Rebecca.”

Unfortunately, Rebecca was not the first person to fall victim to the product's dangerous design flaw.

One victim of an exploding cream dispenser told RTL radio in 2013: "I had six broken ribs, and my sternum was broken.

"At the hospital, I was told that if the shock and blast had been facing the heart, I would be dead now."

According to The Independent, one manufacturer had issued a product recall last year, however, it is thought that tens of thousands could still remain in people's homes.

A post shared by Rebecca Burger (@rebeccablikes) on

Yesterday, an example of the product was posted on Rebecca's Instagram along with the caption: "Here is an example of a siphon that exploded and crashed into Rebecca’s chest, causing her death."

"The siphon which caused her death was sealed. Don’t use this product in your homes! Tens of thousands of the faulty devices are already in circulation."

Fans have been paying their tributes following Rebecca's untimely death.
