A total of 96 pure-breed puppies found in the back of lorry at Holyhead last week have now been placed in foster homes.

Sadly many are battling health conditions – meaning they cannot be placed in permanent homes immediately. However, the Dublin Society Of The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals has highlighted that all the pups will eventually be assigned to forever owners.

The animals, including basset hounds, beagles, Yorkies, cocker spaniels and Bichon Frise, are so-called designer breeds and were being transported illegally from Irish puppy farms to the UK in time for Christmas.

In total, the animals were worth around €50,000. They were returned to Ireland and last week were assigned foster families.

At the time of the discovery, the DSPCA said: "The levels that were taken to conceal these puppies are shocking with most of them squashed into small containers with little or no space, no food, no water and without the correct paper work.

"All 96 puppies came into our care, all 96 of them required veterinary attention and all 96 will be heading out to foster care and then onto their new homes.

"We are asking you to support the important work we do by making a donation on dspca.ie/donate."

Another post of the charity's Facebook page read: "Out of the 96 puppies that came into the DSPCA on Monday about half of them have health problems such as eye and ear infections and sensitive tummies due to poor diet and anxiety after a very poor start in life."

This seizure of the pups was part of Operation Delphin: an ongoing collaboration between DSPCA, Ulster SPCA, ISPCA, RSPCA, Scottish SPCA, Stena Line, the gardaí and customs and tax authorities in Ireland and UK.

Al Porter has spoken publicly about his struggle with depression for the first time.

Appearing on Brendan O’Connor’s The Cutting Edge last night, the Dublin based comedian revealed that despite his confidence, he does suffer with mental health issues.

He also documented and challenged the stigma which currently surrounds taking anti-depressants in Ireland, using his own experience as a powerful example.

The 23-year-old began: “I’m going to tell you something now that I didn’t even tell my mam until two hours ago, when I rang her because I knew I was going to say it to you.”

Explaining his journey towards medication, Al recounted how a friend suggested that the reason behind his inability to enjoy his experiences and success may be down to a physical “imbalance” rather than an issue founded in circumstance.

“I went to a doctor, I wouldn’t even go to my own family doctor, I was too afraid.  So I went to a doctor in Carlow,” he confessed.  “He said ‘look, you need anti-depressants and I never thought that I would be that person.  Nobody in my family would think that I would be that person.”

“I’ve been hiding them in my house,” he continued.  “I have had my friend pick them up because I didn’t want to go in with the prescription.  I’ve had the prescription written to different names than my own.”

“That stigma, I never really thought it was real.  I heard people…talk about it and I’m kind of going ‘I can’t really get where you’re coming from’”.

“And then I suddenly realise, someone that’s as confident as me who tells people every detail of their life, I couldn’t just admit, yeah, that I need those pills.  They’re going to keep me balanced.”

“If I can’t cope with that, Jesus knows how somebody who doesn’t have the confidence that I have does.  [Someone] who’s in their bed for three weeks and is going, ‘Who am I going to ring to pick them up for me?’”.

Al has been widely praised online for sharing his story so candidly.

This morning, he took to Twitter to thank his followers for their support.

If anything tops sitting down with your favourite bar of chocolate, it’s having that bar of chocolate turned into an unorthodox treat.

Bray has become the first town in Ireland to home a chocolate kebab shop, all thanks to one married couple with a sugar-coated dream.

After sourcing a special chocolate kebab machine online, Declan and Christina Woods opened Sprinkles Café Bar on the Main Street of the popular coastal town.

As well as choco kebabs, the café offers waffle pops, fudge puppies, smoothies, whipped ice cream and coffee; so, whatever craving you find yourself with, Sprinkles will surely sort you out.

We all love a bank holiday, sure who doesn't want an extra day off work and a long weekend to relax and recuperate?

Well, Ireland has the lowest number of public holidays in the EU, and we need more.

According to Breaking News, both businesses and politicians think we should all get more and another public holiday needs to be created.

MEP Brian Hayes is trying to highlight this fact and said that while companies should be consulted about an extra holiday, they should not be reluctant to give workers another one.

"A well-motivated workforce is the most important thing (employers) need to make sure they keep the economy going. It's a win-win if we come to an agreement.

"I don’t accept the argument I've heard that this will lead to an economic catastrophe. It's a very small measure, but it's an important measure."

Do you think we need another public holiday? And if so, when?

Uh, Enda Kenny thinks Irish people need to talk about pornography… but the public don't seem too happy about it.

According to the Independent, the Taoiseach thinks there needs to be a national conversation about how porn is damaging the minds of the Irish youth.

While at a launch for a free helpline for victims of crime, Enda said: “Our young people are growing up imagining that what they see on the screen might be normal sexual behaviour.

“There has to be a discussion about this in terms of families and children and the kind of society that is evolving.

“What used to be termed as ‘lads magazines’ have grown to be replaced with pornography that’s as ubiquitous as it is damaging.

“Our young people that are growing up, imagining what they see on a screen is normal sexual behaviour, there has to be a discussion about this.”

However, over on Twitter, the public had a few things to say about Enda's thoughts:

What do you think of this?

Here at SHEmazing! we love a good dose of high street shopping, so you can imagine our excitement upon learning that Ireland is set to get another Topshop.

As part of Jervis Shopping Centre’s first major revamp in 20 years, a new flagship Topshop-Topman store will take over five of the Dublin centre’s existing shops.

According to the Irish Times, Wallace, Miss Selfridge, Burton and the current Topshop and Topman will be replaced with one big Topshop-Topman next summer as part of the Arcadia Group project.

The new store is expected to occupy 20,000sq ft between the ground and upper ground floors.

That sounds like a lot of clothes to us!

With almost 200,000 followers on Instagram alone, Ireland’s leading fashion blogger, Suzanne Jackson, knows a thing or two about style.

But while the founder of So Sue Me insists that the key to dressing well involves a combination of high-street clothing and upmarket accessories, she says she will not be opting for an online label for her highly anticipated 2017 wedding.

Speaking exclusively to SHEmazing!, the cosmetics entrepreneur reveals that she has yet to start shopping for her August 5 ceremony – when she will marry long-term love Dylan O'Connor – but eagerly explains the importance of finding a gown which is totally unique to her.

“I kind of want to go all out,” admits Suzanne.

“I’m going to have something that hasn’t been seen before on another bride… I have my eye on a couple of different designers so I don’t know yet, but I know I won’t be in high street for my wedding day.”

Having recently returned from a Sofia Richie-led Pretty Little Thing event in London, things seem to be going from strength to strength for the 31-year-old Dubliner.

Styles from her new lash line have already been a huge hit with beauty lovers. Meanwhile, her country-wide workshops have completely sold-out and she's just about to reveal the next instalment of her beauty line which is due to debut in pharmacies this November.

But despite her success, Suzanne remains adamant that her brand would not have reached such heights without a lot of hard work and, of course, the valued support of her readers.

“Everything I do is 150 percent,” explains the popular brunette. “I built So Sue Me from the ground. I wasn’t famous before I did it. I didn’t have any backing from anybody. I built it from nothing and I’m very proud of that.

“My readers are the reason why I am successful today, so I like to build relationships with them. [My workshops] give me a great chance to meet them and for them to hear my story.

“I think people leave very inspired and I think that it’s really important as well to give people inspiration and give them the motivation to go do something for themselves.”

Noting the change in weather, Suzanne says faux leather is her favourite trend for the Autumn/Winter season, but insists that no matter what time of year it is, she stands behind one key style rule.

“My tip for people no matter what the season, is to always invest in your staple pieces. I would say to get a really good winter coat that doesn’t look too over the top, a nice jacket maybe with a faux fur trim around the neck that could act as a scarf… Invest in a really nice pair of ankle boots, good denims and I think you’re ready to go.”

Sounds like solid advice to us!

There are few situations as instantly infuriating as discovering a big yellow clamp welded to the wheel of your car.

Clamps leave you stranded, cost a bomb to remove and no one understands that you “genuinely just left the car there for a minute”.

Because of this, it is with great pleasure that we can report there will soon be a cap of €100 on clamp removal fees in Ireland thanks to a new law which is due to be signed in by the Minister for Transport.

According to the Irish Independent, the Vehicle Clamping Act was actually passed 17 months ago, but because a commencement order was not signed at the time, there has been a considerable delay in its introduction.

The decision will now be subject to a Dáil vote.
