If you’re anything like us then you probably don’t open your curtains or check the weather on your phone before you pick out your outfit.

And like us, that probably meant your morning went a little something like this…

1. “Ahh, a new day – I think I’ll wear that new light floral dress I bought. After all, it’s spring now!”

2. “So glad I don’t have to wear bulky woolly jumpers anymore, see ya winter!"

3. “A heavy coat? Nah, this light jacket will definitely do. Sure it’s not like it’s snowing HAHAHA”

4. “Boots or pumps? I think pumps, it hasn’t rained in a while after all!”

5. “I’m so glad I packed away all of my winter clothes this weekend, I mean, LOOK at all of this space!”

6. “Okay time to gooo…oh, it’s…snowing.” *runs back inside and changes*

7. "It's been winter for about seven months now, but that's okay, I'm resilient"

8. "I need a bloody holiday"

So, you’ve made the decision, you’re going to kick the chocolate for Lent.

Whether it be for religious reasons, raising some money for charity or just a good reason to get healthy – you’re going to do it. You’re really, really going to do it….right?

Here are some people you are bound to meet during the hardest month of the year:

The ‘Ah go on it’s just one square’ One
Peer pressure can be so hard…especially where chocolate is concerned

The ‘but you’re not even religious’ One
Sigh. Can’t a girl use a good excuse to make some positive changes?!

The ‘it will do you the world of good – keep going’ One
Sounds nice, is in fact a deeply-rooted backhanded compliment

The 'oh, you've only given up chocolate, I've given up sugar completely' One
And she actually has, and succeeds…ugh.

The 'wow – well done, I'm not sure I could do that' One
Sweet, well-meaning and complimentary. More like you please.

First there were ‘no make-up’ selfies to support breast cancer and the water bucket challenge to raise money for ALS, now there is a new selfie trend!

Celebrities such as Georgia May Jagger have now joined the #SmearForSmear social media campaign, which was started by UK charity, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust in a bid to urge women to undergo smear tests.

What happens when none of your friends are around and you really, really want to go out for a dance? Or maybe you’ve moved to a new area and are having some trouble meeting new people, what then? It can be a lonely experience for many women.

Well, we have the answer for you … Or rather, GirlCrew does! With over 3,000 members in Ireland alone, and groups in London, New York and even Sydney, GirlCrew is THE way to meet new and fun friends.

If you want to go for coffee, the cinema, a night out, a run – anything you can think of, GirlCrew will set you up with other women who want to do the same.

Elva, the genius behind GirlCrew, explained why she decided to set the company up, explaining that all of her friends were busy one evening, and she wanted a night on the tiles (we can totally relate to this, Elva!)

She explains:

“One Friday night in March of this year, I was at home and really wanted to go out and had no one to go out with. My group of friends is small but lovely, so this happens. I knew there had to be at least a couple of other girls who this happens to as well, so i popped up my search for some dancing buddies on Tinder, changing my gender to ‘male’ in the settings so i’d show up to other straight girls and gave it a shot.”

“I thought I’d find two, three, maybe four girls who wanted to go out dancing. But there were MILLIONS! (Well, a hundred within two days.) Since then it’s grown into these awesome little groups of women all over the place who want to just meet up and hang out – whether it’s for gigs, coffees, nights out dancing, running, eating, whatever.”

So, where can you find GirlCrew? A lot of places, it turns out! All around Ireland, GirlCrew numbers are growing by the day and you can now find groups in Cork, Limerick, Kerry, Dublin, Meath, Galway, Belfast, Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and even more.

If your county isn’t there – check out the website to find out how you can start a GirlCrew group in your locality!

However, GirlCrew isn’t limited to Ireland so if you have recently found yourself in a far off country and want to meet new friends, you will find groups in New York, Atlanta, Dublin, London and even Sydney!

So, get interacting, ladies and you will soon find yourself with a seriously fun-filled diary with lots of great people!

Lesley Cosgrave hails from Dublin and is the lovely face behind beauty and lifestyle blog, Bellinis and Blush.

The talented blogger loves to promote confidence as well as sharing all of her beauty tips and tricks. Check out Bellinis and Blush for the inside track on all things beauty and life, from food to fashion and everything in between!

We had a chat with Lesley and put some tough questions to her – which she nailed! She even let us peek inside her make-up bag – check it out!

1. What's your best budget beauty buy?
I’m a huge fan of Rimmel foundations, in particular the Wake Me Up and Lasting Finish range. Lasting Finish is perfect for both day and night and it does what it says on the tin, it lasts! A huge thing for me as I tend to not touch up my make up during the day. Both excellent products and super affordable! Special mention goes to Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks, INCREDIBLE LASTING POWER! Great for a special occasion or a big night out.

2. What's your top make-up tip?
It’s all about that base! Commit yourself to a regular skin care routine and REMOVE YOUR MAKE UP BEFORE BED! Cannot stress that point enough. If your skin is in tip top condition, your make up will apply like a dream, look better and last longer.

3. Do you have a favourite all-round beauty product?
Ooh this is like Sophie’s Choice!! Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is a super all round product. I mostly use it as a primer make up base, but it does an amazing job as a mask and as a moisturiser. It really wakes up your skin, smells beautiful, feels fresh and invigorating and gives the illusion of a full night’s sleep. It’s not the cheapest product, but a little goes a long way. I usually get months out of a tube and I use it every single day. A close second is Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream, everyone should have a tube of this in their stash!

4. What's your earliest beauty memory?
My earliest beauty memory was watching my mother do her make up! She was so glamourous and always had her make up on, nails painted and hair perfectly coiffed after using her heated rollers. I always remember she would dot lipstick on her cheeks and blend with her fingers, in place of a traditional powder blush! Glammy Mammy she was, I believe my love of beauty stemmed from her.

5. Most girls have a signature scent – what's yours?
I have a ridiculous amount of perfume on rotation, I use them depending on my mood or the occasion. My go to fragrance would be Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh. It’s the perfect scent for both day and night. I’m a huge fan of really fresh, clean scents and this one never fails me.

6. What's in your make-up bag right now? Can we have a peek inside?
This is my regular everyday make up kit, but I do like to glam it up for nights out with darker eyes and a bold lip!

  • Define & Conquer Contour Kit from Seventeen
  • Doll Eye Mascara from NYX
  • Lasting Finish Foundation from Rimmel
  • Beauty Flash Balm from Clarins
  • Stay Matte But Not Flat Pressed powder from NYX
  • Fake Up Concealer from Benefit
  • Powder Blush from Chanel
  • Dandelion Lip Gloss from Benefit
  • Brow This Way Brow Gel from Rimmel
  • High Brow Highlighter from Benefit
  • Eye Booster Liquid Liner from Physicians Formula

We all love to try our hand at a bit of nail art, and now it is going to be a LOT easier than you might think!

Aldi are set to launch their Lacura Beaded Nail Art Set in February, complete with an applicator funnel – how fun!

The sets will come in two types; Rainbow and Jewel. Rainbow is a super fun set with a pink and red block coloured nail polishe base and Hundreds and Thousands-esque beads which we are obsessed with.

The Jewel set comes in a black nail polish base complete with black and gold beads, perfect for a night out with the girls.

Aldi are set to release the gorgeous nail sets in their Irish stores in February and at €4.99 each they are perfectly affordable.

No doubt they will be snapped up in no time so don’t leave it too late!

A brand new passport card will be made available to Irish people in July.

The card will make travelling within the European Union easier as well as being useful for nights out, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Charlie Flanagan said: “The passport card will be particularly useful for young people who use their passport booklet as identification, especially on nights out.”

The card is a credit-card sized form of ID, meaning it will easily fit into our wallets and purses which will hopefully decrease the number of lost passports!

It sounds like the blind panic of convincing ourselves we’ve lost our passports after a night out on the town may be a thing of the past as the minister says that he has often been concerned with his own children bringing theirs out: “As a father I have often felt concern about the impracticality of the passport booklet as a means of identification for young people on nights out and this new card will be a far more practical option.”

The new card is the first of its kind in the world. Being valid for five years and costing €35 when it is launched in July, people can apply either online or through an app that has been set up for the new initiative.

Us Irish love a classic crisp sandwich. Most commonly made with cheese and onion Taytos or King’s, some people are into more edgy crisp sandwich flavours, like salt and vinegar.

But this…This goes beyond anything we ever wanted to see in a crisp sandwich. The brave people behind Facts. have been testing out some more unusual flavours, such as peanut butter, gherkin and salt and vinegar sandwich.

Or perhaps you’d prefer a more classic Meanies, cheese and mustard?

We can’t really see ourselves tucking into any of those the day after a night out somehow…Don't mess with a classic!
