We love a good animal story and this one is super cute!

Gardaí  at Finglas Garda Station found a cat in the yard yesterday and obviously decided to bring it inside while the owner was being located. However, their act of kindness may have backfired as now the cat is refusing to leave – we love it!

Taking to Twitter, the official Garda account wrote: “Cat found in the yard of Finglas station today. Won’t leave. It’s a young cat. Owner can collect it from the station.”

It didn’t take long for hilarity to ensue with people suggesting he may be a ‘cat burglar’ (geddit?) and others suggesting they keep the cat.

Here are some of our favourite tweets about Finglas Garda Station’s brand new pet:

Brilliant! What a gorgeous cat, we hope he finds his owner soon!

The Fear is one of those things we all dread, but we can never quite bring ourselves to make the ultimate sacrifice to not have to deal with it.

When one is afflicted with The Fear, it’s important to make yourself as comfortable as possible. Lucozade and hot chicken rolls will help the cause.

Unfortunately, it’s not always possible and there are things that make The Fear SO much worse, like these:

Social media
Look, you might think it will help, but untagging those photos can wait until tomorrow. Switch settings so you can review photos before they appear on your page, take a deep breath and relax!

Last night’s clothes
They're sitting a pile beside your bed, so you decide to be proactive and put on a wash. The smell of stale smoke and spilled Sambuca brings you instantly back to the club and you begin to feel nauseous.

Talking to people
“You were so funny last night” – wait, what? Funny like how? Oh no…

Not talking to people
No one has contacted you all day – what the hell did you do last night!

Watching anything scary
An American Horror Story marathon may sound like a good idea, in reality you will spend the day jumping every time you hear the tiniest sound. Not cool. Stick with the rom-coms.

Trying to be healthy
Who are you trying to kid with that 'supersalad' and green goddess juice? They can wait until tomorrow, for now PIZZA.

RTÉ broadcaster Marian Finucane looked brilliant in black as she married her partner, John Clarke, at Dublin’s registry office earlier today.

Marian wore a gorgeous black coat with a fedora-style hat while John’s suit was set off with a single red rose in his breast pocket.

The radio presenter and her partner of thirty years have two children together, a son named Jack and a daughter, Sinéad. Sinéad sadly passed away in 1990 when she was only eight years old.

Marian has been a broadcaster with RTÉ since 1976 and currently presents The Marian Finucane Show at weekends.

Congratulations to the happy couple and we hope they enjoy their special day!

An Irish man has been fined after he got stuck in a vent trying to gain access to a nightclub in Sydney.

After being thrown out of the premises twice, he then attempted to gain entry to the club by climbing through a vent in the roof.

However the 18-year-old, who is in Australia on a one-year working holiday visa, had to be rescued by emergency services when he became stuck in the roof vent.

The man was stuck in the vent for over 90 minutes before people in the club became aware of his cries for help after becoming stuck.

The teenager was ordered to pay $1,700 on top of his $900 fine, to cover damage to the building's glass door and roof.

Met Éireann have issued a red alert for exposed and mountain areas of Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Limerick and Kerry where winds are expected to reach between 130-150km/h tonight.

The red alert will come into place tonight at 9pm and is in place until midday tomorrow. However, alerts have also been issued for other areas of the country with an orange alert being issued for the rest of Ireland and a yellow rainfall alert in place for Connaught, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

The National Emergency Committee have advised people on the west coast to stay indoors and avoid travel if possible and to stay clear of waterways and cliff walks.

With things expected to be particularly bad in Kerry, schools are set to remain closed with The Department of Education advising similar areas on red alert to do the same.

Storm Rachel is well on her way following the snowy night seen in much of the country so stay indoors and be careful when out and about!

#StormRachel has already begun to trend on Twitter with many people tweeting about the bad weather – and there's only more to come!

Stay safe everyone!

We can't guarantee you'll have any idea what is actually being said, but just relax and bask in the sounds of this Derry teenager's glorious accent!

The UTV news clip has gone viral since it aired last night – we wonder if the poor lad knows he's a national hero!

There was disappointment for footballer Stephanie Roche earlier this evening as she lost out on FIFA’s Goal of the Year to James Rodriguez.

Stephanie attended the Ballon d’Or ceremony today where it was revealed she had gained 33% of the votes while James received 42% and the final 11% going to Robin Van Persie.

Last week it was revealed that the footballer had made the decision to leave Albi, her French club and returned home to Ireland.

Despite the disappointing outcome of the awards ceremony for Stephanie, her goal against Wexford Youths back in 2013 will remain a thing of legend for some time to come! Here’s a reminder:

She may not have won the award, but something tells us this is just the beginning for Stephanie!

Over the last few days, an appeal to superstar Ed Sheeran to visit and sing for Dayna Kearney has gone viral. Dayna was the sole survivor of the Athy car crash that claimed the lives of her four best friends;  Gemma Nolan, Chermaine Carroll, Niamh Doyle and Ashling Middleton.

Dayna’s friends and now countless others, have set up an appeal to Ed Sheeran to visit Dayna as she is a huge fan of his and attended one of his last concerts in Ireland with her friend, Chermaine, who lost her life in the crash. The Facebook page has gained massive attention and now has almost 32,000 likes and rising.

#singfordayna has been trending in Ireland for the last few days as Dayna's friends and many more try to get Ed's attention to the appeal.

As Ed is due to play a gig in Whelan’s at the end of the month, there is a chance the appeal could have a successful ending.

Ladies, it’s not time to pack away that winter coat yet! If you thought we had escaped a somewhat mild winter, then Met Éireann are here to let you know it's not over yet!

In rather alarming weather news, Met Éireann have issued a yellow alert for Waterford, Monaghan and Leinster between the hours of 6pm today and 8am on Wednesday. Met Éireann have warned that up to 3cm of snow could fall in places over the following days and that temperatures will be freezing, describing lows of -2 to +2 degrees on their official Twitter page.

Similarly, forecasts of snow and ice are in place for Connaught, Clare, Cavan, Cork, Limerick, Kerry and Tipperary. There are also warnings of icy patches that for locations that escape snow showers.

It wouldn't be the first time snow has fallen in January, indeed a lot of you may remember a very white March we had a few years ago!

It looks set to be a stormy and snowy week ahead so make sure you wrap up warm and take extra care on the roads.

A couple who got engaged at Cork’s Fota Wildlife Park have seen their sweet story go viral over the last two days.

Grace Fanning, an Irish naval officer, dropped to one knee to propose to her girlfriend of seven years, Carol Brady. The beautiful moment Carol said yes was caught on camera and the photos were posted by Fota, who have claimed them to be their most liked post so far! We can't say we are surprised by that!

The proposal took place in front of the giraffes, Carol’s favourite animal and Grace has said they are delighted with the reaction: “It was fairly emotional alright but the reaction has been incredible.” Such a sweet story – apparently even the ladies' tour guide, Leslie cried!

The couple hope to tie the knot in 2016 following this year’s same-sex marriage referendum.

There is a very exciting line-up for tonight’s Graham Norton show as Filth star, James McAvoy, Mark Ruffalo and acting legend Meryl Streep sit on the couch.

But that’s not all…Hozier is going to be there! The Wicklow singer will perform on the chat show and then presumably sit down for a chat before the red chair (our favourite bit).

Graham tweeted the line-up an hour ago, asking followers to vote for him at the National TV Awards in exchange for some an awesome guest list: “Not begging more a bargain. Vote and see Meryl Streep, James McAvoy, Mark Ruffalo & Hozier on my show tonight. Deal?”

It's most definitely a deal, Graham!

Tune into BBC tonight at 10.35pm.
