A taxi driver was arrested after allegedly raping a woman he picked up after she left a takeaway on Camden Street on September 19th last.

The 32-year-old woman claimed she fell asleep in the taxi and awoke to find the taxi driver on top of her. Though she pleaded with him to stop, he would not.

The traumatised woman later alerted Gardaí and was brought to the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit at the Rotunda where it was confirmed sexual activity had taken place.

A taxi driver has since been arrested and his car confiscated as Gardaí continue their investigation.

Prosecutors in Australia have dropped the chargers against a 25-year-old Irish woman who was accused of hiding the body of her deceased baby.

The incident happened in May of this summer when the woman was backpacking in Hall’s Creek, Western Australia with friends where she delivered a baby that was either stillborn, or died after birth.

The woman, who said she had not realised she was pregnant, hid the body but days later told her friends what had happened and was taken to hospital.

As concealing a birth is illegal, the woman was arrested but was allowed to return home to be with her family while awaiting a trial.

However, it has now been decided that the charges against her will be dropped.

The ProposalRTÉ 2, Wednesday at 9.30pm
Even if you don’t watch The Rose Of Tralee (and seeing as it’s consistently one of the top rated telly shows clearly SOME of you are!), you can’t have missed the classic moment from last year when one Rose was proposed to live on stage. She must have said “no, no, no” a hundred times (and sure looked like she meant it) but as this doc shows the couple did actually end up marrying. God loves a trier.

Mrs DoubtfireSky 1, Wednesday at 7.30pm
While his performances in Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting can be considered Robin William’s finest, there are many of us who remember him most fondly for tonight’s midweek movie. Playing a divorced dad who dresses as an elderly Scottish nanny in order to keep seeing his kids might sound odd on paper but worked its magic on screen with the perfect balance of both laugh out loud and heart-warming moments that the late comedian did better than anyone.

I Love You ManRTÉ 2, Friday at 9.35pm
Newly engaged Paul Rudd realises he has no mates to be Best Man at his wedding. So in an effort to find one before the big day he strikes up a bromance with the likeable but slightly mental Paul Segel. A comedy that delivers some genuinely hilarious one liners, worth a watch.

The X FactorUTV, Friday at 9pm
No that’s not a typo, you read that right, X Factor is on Friday nights now too! But just before you start freaking you’ll never get off the couch again fear not, it’s only for this week and next before we go to the Live Shows. Starting tonight, this weekend sees a triple bill of Bootcamp which includes the brutal Six Chair Challenge – and if the booing on Sunday’s sneak peak was anything to go by Cheryl could well be getting another P45 in the post…

It’s baaaack!

RTÉ have released a teaser for the fifth season of Love/Hate and it is looking uh-mazing!

We can’t wait to catch up with Fran, Nidge and the lads to check out what they’ve been up to for the summer.

Sunning themselves in Kilkee eating some 99’s, perhaps?

A nice quiet tour of the O’Connor Pass?

Somehow, we doubt it.

It's unique to be a redhead and so many people wish they were as lucky as you – so embrace it! Here are all the reasons it's great to be a redhead!

1. You are Unique!
Under 2% of the global population have been blessed enough to be born a redhead. And of this 2%, it is thought that a quarter of redheads have dyed their hair. You are a genetic miracle, embrace it!

2. Redheads don’t go grey.
When you reach a certain age, you can bask in the fact that all of your friends are losing those golden highlights you once thought you envied.

3. In some cultures, people still believe that you’re a witch!
That could come in hand…

4. Americans and Asians love you!
If you are a fiery redhead, you are bound to have a few tourists ask to take a picture with you from time to time. If you are also Irish, CONGRATULATIONS you have just experienced what it’s like to be a celebrity.

5. Your body hair is blonde.
You could go a week without shaving your legs and no one would notice. You can head out on the town with legs like big foot and man, woman or beast would be none the wiser. PLUS, you get away with not bleaching/waxing your top lip half the time.

6. Easier for your friends and parents to spot  you in a crowd
Nobody likes getting lost.

7. You’re in the same category as famous legends
Examples: Ed Sheeran, Ron Weasley, Prince Harry.

8. Genetics
If you’re a redhead, it’s probably likely that one or both of your parents are the same. The redhead gene is recessive so it’s got to be a strong ass underdog gene to make it past the blondes and brunettes. The gene that you have is a genetic trait that has fought its way from your oldest ancestors to you. Be proud of your genes!

9. Always a hefty supply of factor 50+
On those hot days, when every factor 15, 20 and 25 are nowhere to be seen, factor 50+ stands tall and strong and waiting to be lathered upon your milk bottle complexion.

A Garda investigation into a woman alleging she was raped by a man she met over Tinder is currently underway.

The woman says that she met the man in a coffee shop in Dublin last Thursday after talking to him over the popular dating app for four days.

However, things took a sinister turn when the man forced the woman, who is believed to be in her 30’s, into his car before driving to the M50 where the terrifying sex crime took place.

It has been reported that the man drove around looking for a suitable secluded spot before the rape took place.

Following this, the alleged rapist dropped the woman home.

The woman was understandably terrified.

This is the first reported incident of its kind in relation to Tinder and is a reminder of how careful we all need to be when using dating apps.

This week brings us lots of films to choose from for our weekly trip to the cinema. In fact, we might have to double up on cinema outings! Check out the latest offerings from the big screen:

September 19th

The Giver

This one sounds interesting – it focuses on Jonas, a young man living a very plain life in a world of conformity. When he starts spending time with The Giver, however, things get messy. The Giver holds all the memories of the community, and when Jonas discovers the truth about this communities past, Jonas realises he has to escape his world to protect himself and the people he loves most. Exciting!

Magic In The Moonlight

This is a romantic comedy (woohoo!) starring Emma Stone (even better!) and Colin Firth (ah sure he’s grand). It’s about a famous illusionist who is actually a rather unpleasant Englishman named Stanley. He goes to visit a family in the French Riviera who have been taken in by a clairvoyant Sophie (Emma Watson). One of the sons of the family wants Stanley to help prove that Sophie is a fraud, but can he do it? We’ll be the first in the queue for this one!

A Walk Among The Tombstones

Liam Neeson strikes again. Here, he plays Matt Scudder, a private investigator who is a recovering alcoholic hired by a drug kingpin to find out who kidnapped and murdered his wife. In his attempts to find the criminals, he comes close to becoming a bit of a monster himself. We imagine this is a typical Liam Neeson film, a good watch, but kind of predictable. Still, nothing wrong with a film being predictably good!

Wish I Was Here

At last, we get to see the film from Zach Braff that caused such controversy because it was crowd funded. It’s about a struggling actor who is also a father and husband trying to find himself as he home schools his kids as he can’t pay for their private education any more. We’d give anything by Zach Braff a fair chance – Scrubs entertained us for a good many years after all, so we have high hopes for this one!
