While we’re not too pleased with Miss Travel’s recent survey results, we know for sure that our fellas will be pleased.

Miss Travel (a travel website) has decided to conduct a survey in order to rank the most attractive nations in the world.

According to their survey, Irish guys are ranked as the seventh most attractive males in the whole world, while Australian men are considered to be the hottest.

But same can’t be said for the Irish gals unfortunately, as Miss Travel has revealed that Brazil has the most attractive women in the world, while poor Ireland didn’t even make the cut. Ouch!

Oh well, at least our fellas got a boost for once.

It’s not all sun, sea and sand people! There are some serious struggles related to summer and as we so rarely get one, it can be hard to adapt. Here are the 13 worst things about the summer months (especially when the weather is actually good!)

1. Flesh, flesh everywhere

tumblr_n3mjyfJ1vn1rcfpgbo1_500

Seriously, people think this is the best excuse to go around dressed in next to nothing…!

2. Sticky conditions

tumblr_n6vgruDpy61tbh1dho1_400

We love it for about a half hour, then we go inside saying how it is “fierce close” outside.

3. Sweaty Betty

tumblr_mnny3gjLjx1r4p9nzo1_500

Horses sweat, men perspire and ladies glow. So our mothers tell us. This is not what happens and many tank top colours are now off-limits due to sweat marks – we’re looking at you, grey!

4. Sunburned Sally

tumblr_mt2dasIhWd1qcu8s6o1_250

PUT DOWN THE BABY OIL! Seriously ladies, let’s look after our skin, SPF 50 all the way!

5. Pollen problems

tumblr_lzo9l4bUIZ1qk8edvo1_250

Ireland is the perfect breeding ground for hayfever. Too perfect, in fact. Going abroad for a week offers your poor, pollen infested body a chance to recover, only to land one week later back in Dublin to resume your fight against pollen. Excuse us please.

6. Wacky weather

tumblr_m3h9c3FwqX1r6fciho1_400

You know when you leave your house in hot pants, a tank top and an umbrella (just in case, like) that Ireland has some seriously wacky weather.

7. Infestation issues

tumblr_n4twt2dOkx1r3a6jho1_500

Flies, flies everywhere. Those gross sticky things your mum hung from the ceiling is really putting you off your lunch.

8. Bad BBQs

tumblr_mz8nak2smB1rlp95mo1_500 (1)

It’s all great until you wake up the next day smelling like a camp-fire and are violently sick from sausages that definitely needed more time on the grill.

9. So many children

tumblr_n39pmmC3vO1suyqwko1_400

It’s a Monday, it’s July and the clock has just gone seven. Why parents, why do you let your little darlings outside before we have had our morning bucket of tea? Put a few cartoons on for them. That always worked for us. Failing that, summer school?

10. Crappy summer jobs

tumblr_n2j8vqWr6g1rtr3kno1_400

Summer jobs are a special brand of fun. Whether you’re spending your sunny days in a shop dishing out chicken fillet rolls to hungover people that you wish you were or are pulling pints for tourists, you can be pretty much guaranteed that you’ll envy all of your customers. It is an unwritten rule that the customers will be having a great time and that you, well, won’t. But hey, at least you’re making €8.65 for every hour of fun you endure. WOO WOO.

11. Cans all over the shop

tumblr_mmfwyhB44h1rbvks9o1_250

Teenagers off school for the summer hide in the bushes as piles of druids cans slowly build up.

12. Summer lovin’

tumblr_n6e29iEZql1tt88v8o2_250

Seriously, who do they think they are? Noah and Allie? Jeez…

13. Sleepless nights

tumblr_n135slP9eM1rck739o2_r1_250

Getting a decent nights sleep during the summer can be tricky. This is usually due to a number of factors: the fact that it’s still bright outside at ten o’clock, the screaming of little children and that damn humidity!

It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for – Ireland’s week of summer is finally here! Apparently, we are experiencing something of a ‘heatwave’ this week.

If you think that today is hot, hot, hot, just wait until tomorrow with temperatures expected to soar up to 25 degrees.

Danielle Lowe, meteorologist with Met Eireann, spoke about tomorrow’s glorious weather expectations, saying: “Wednesday will probably be the warmest day. I predict the hottest temperatures will be around 25 degrees and it will probably be hottest in the west and mid-west.”

Time to dig the Sun Shimmer out, ladies, you’re going to need it tomorrow by the sounds of it!

Make sure to wear the SPF to protect yourself against sunburn and harmful UV rays.

Around Ireland is an abundance of Islands that need to be visited. While we know about most of them, there are a few that have gone unnoticed in terms of places to visit. Have a holiday with a difference this year and go island hopping across Ireland

Inishtrahull, Co. Donegal
Located six miles from Malin Head, this island is free from any one, apart from wild deer and eider duck, so you are sure to have some peace and quiet.

Inishturk Island Co. Mayo
It may be pretty isolated but true to its Irishness, it is home to a gorgeous GAA pitch. Head here if you want to indulge in a bit of diving.

Heir Island, Co. Cork
This picturesque island is located in Roaringwater Bay and is great if you want to go exploring. Foodie will love the Cottage restaurant.

The Blasket Islands, Co. Kerry
The last people living on the island left in 1953 but it is home to lots of wildlife including seals and birds. Located at the tip of the Dingle Peninsula, the island is perfect for campers.

Lonely Planet have released their new ebook, Secret Europe, that unearths 50 of the best off the beaten track sites in Europe and Ireland features on the list twice. Yes TWICE!

Not surprisingly, one of the hotspots is a pub – Kavanagh’s pub in Glasnevin to be exact. Known as The Gravediggers, the pub is located right beside Glasnevin cemetery.

Owner Eugene Kavanagh says: “It’s an original pub, and I’m the sixth generation Kavanagh to run the joint. I still live over the premises and reared a family here. We’re a traditional pub and we carry on as we’ve always done, but to be successful you also have to be different – which we also are.”

Cromane Peninsula, a small split of land between Killorglin and Glenbeigh, also features on the list due to its “spectacular water vistas and multihued sunsets”.

The top spot went to Olomouc a Czech town because of its main square and a hidden picnic spot underneath the arches of the Palais Royal in Paris also features.

Well done Ireland, we’re so proud!

We knew the rumours she hated it here couldn’t have been true!

Okay, so it may have rained the whole time they were here – but Kim Kardashian had a blast on her Irish honeymoon.

The reality TV star took to her Twitter account to answer some of her loyal fans’ questions about her exciting trip and when asked why she chose Ireland, she wrote: “We spent Kanye’s bday a few years back & fell in love with it. Its such a calming relaxing place!”

She obviously didn’t go to Copper’s then…

All we need now is some (real) photos of their time spent here and we can rest easy.

It looks like the honeymoon is all over as Kim Kardashian landed in New York yesterday WITHOUT her new hubby Kanye West.

Kim looked glum without Kanye and her wedding ring as she waited for a connecting flight back to LA – after reportedly complaining about her Irish honeymoon the whole time she was here!

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was apparently super disappointed by Kanye’s idea of the perfect honeymoon in Ireland, and was hoping for a more “glam” holiday to match her chic Italian wedding and pre-wedding festivities in France.

Kim was said to be so bored during the couple’s five-night stay in Ireland that she begged Kanye to leave early, even skipping a pre-planned, one day stop in Dublin.

Kim fell in love with Ireland in 2012, when Kanye was on tour, and even flew in to surprise him for his 35th birthday.

So Kanye thought he had made a romantic gesture by planning the trip here, especially as Kim’s mum Kris Jenner honeymooned here with Bruce Jenner in 1991.

But Kim was said to have moaned constantly about the trip, and told Kanye it would be the last time she ever visits Irish shores.

By day four, Kim was apparently so bored that she begged Kanye to fly to Prague early, so she could “escape” Ireland and attend the Saturday wedding of Kanye’s personal stylist, Renelou Padera.

Well, we never!

Kim Kardashian had an incredibly beautiful and expensive wedding, travelling from Paris to Florence in her quest for the perfect day; however, she’s not too big for some takeaway food!

According to reports, upon arriving in Ireland, the new Mrs Kardashian West and her husband, Kanye West, enjoyed takeaway pizza in the back of their car – no expensive dining for them!

Although, they might have been a bit cash strapped considering the wedding cost a fair few bob!

They may have racked up a bill of around €45,000 during their very quick honeymoon, it seems the pair are not too big for a slice of the good stuff in the back of a car.

While they may have cut their trip short, Kim will always have a reminder of her honeymoon in Ireland as Kanye gave her a gift of a Claddagh ring – just like Bruce gave to Kris during their honeymoon in Ireland. Aww!

We’re not actually sure whether to be mildly offended by this or not…

Actor, Josh Hartnett has been spending a lot of time in Dublin recently filming gothic TV series, Penny Dreadful.

In a recent interview, the actor compared the city of Dublin to Las Vegas saying it can, “eat you whole.”

Josh then went on to say that unfortunately, he never got the chance to enjoy any crazy nights in the city because of his work schedule: “Dublin is like Las Vegas. It can eat you whole if you spend too much time going out. We had a job to do so we weren’t able to partake in too many nights out.”

Come on a night out with us, Josh, we promise we won’t eat you whole…

It’s the end of an era at the Today FM studios today as Jenny Kelly announced her departure after 14 years with the station.

Jenny is married to radio presenter Ray D’Arcy, with whom she has presented The Ray D’Arcy Show.

The presenter made the decision to leave the show and spend more time with their two children, Kate (8) and Tom (2), saying: “I came back to work in January and I decided after 14 years working on the show, give or take a baby or two, that I wanted to spend a bit more time with the kids.”

We’ll miss Jenny on the radio but at least she will be doing what she really wants to do.

Good luck, Jenny!

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West made the most of the rare sunny weather yesterday with a romantic bike ride though the Irish mountains!

The newlyweds jetted into Cork Airport on Sunday for an Irish honeymoon, and are said to be staying in the super plush Castle Oliver in Limerick.

The couple reportedly ditched their chauffeur-driven limos yesterday for mountain bikes and went for a cosy guided cycle along the Ballyhoura trail!

Kanye is said to have gone mountain biking when he played the Marquee in Cork, and wanted his new bride to love it as much as he did.

A local tourist company confirmed that “two VIPs” had rented mountain bikes for a private guided tour of the route.

Kimye are believed to have left Castle Oliver yesterday after their bike ride and are reportedly planning a visit to the capital city Dublin next!

Let’s face it, there is a LOT of stuff you can do in college that just doesn’t happen in real life. Here are some examples of what we will miss most this summer:

1. Not being able to see your college friends every day. Sniff.
We live and breathe every minute with our college homies and adapting to spending time without them is one of the major downsides to summer.

tumblr_mnxpy37ntn1r9cz4eo1_500

2. Midday drinking
Now that you’re back home, it’s no longer possible to skip your 3 hour lab for a pint of Fosters in the student bar. Instead, the only alcohol you will consume during the day will be the Bailey’s cheesecake your Granny offers you during lunch.

3. Peaceful sleep-ins
Back in college, daily lie-ins were always a part of your morning routine. Sadly, you are now woken at 9am by your mother who sharply opens the curtains and lectures you on how “you should be outside enjoying the good weather while we have it!” Ugh.

tumblr_mc4xq7nQvt1rn9ijs

4. Having an excuse not to work
Throughout the college year there’s always an assignment to be used as an excuse not to get a job. Now that you have three to four months sitting on your behind, you have no excuse to pass down a job offer from the local supermarket. For those of us who already had part-time work, prepare for a dramatic increase in ‘weekday’ work. Whoo.

5. Meeting new people
College offers brilliant opportunities to meet new and exciting people almost every day. At home however, you know everyone in your little town or village. A whole summer spent with the same people day everyday is bound to take its toll. Bring back the randomers!

6. Going out whatever night you feel like it
Whether you’re in Dublin or Cork, Limerick or Galway, any night can be a ‘going out’ night. To our misfortune, Monday Madness and three euro pints on a Thursday are unheard of concepts in our locals. Drinking on a weeknight at home offers a crowd of your father’s friends and a varied choice of Guinness or Heineken on tap. Monday Madness? We think not.

7. The classes you actually like
Although attending class wasn’t really your thing all semester, during the summer months we would happily sit in a class with the oddball lecturer who likes to reminisce about his weed smoking days on an escapade to Holland back in the 80’s. The entertaining stories kept your mind occupied.

8. The convenience of delivery food
In college, if you don’t feel like cooking, food was only a call away. Whether it’s Chinese or Indian, food is at your doorstep within the hour. However, if you live in the back arse of nowhere and you’re pretty sure that the sat-nav doesn’t even acknowledge where you live, scraping the bottom of the freezer for a microwave pizza is as good as it gets.

9. The Free Wi-Fi
Hey, not everywhere has free Wi-Fi, it’s a commodity in this world! Not the best connection at times but it still kept you constantly connected during those ‘morning after the night before’ scenarios when a tagged photo or two needed to be removed immediately.

when-you-see-something-you-want-to-buy-but-have-no-money_1405

10. Being able to live on a budget
In college it’s quite acceptable to live off literally zero cash. The summer months are an expensive time what with bikinis to be bought for sun holidays and interrailing tickets to be paid for. There’s grown -up style responsibilities on the horizon and it’s time to start saving. Sigh.
