We did it! Irish football supporters are getting a pretty MAJOR award
We might have missed out on progressing to the next stage of Euros 2016, but the Republic still have a lot to celebrate despite our devastating loss to France on Sunday afternoon.
While we all know our fellow countrymen did us proud while supporting the boys in green across the pond, it looks like some people are very eager to make it OFFICIAL.
According to emerging reports, the Mayor of Paris has announced that she will be awarding the Medal of the City of Paris to the Republic of Ireland football fans for their sportsmanship throughout the football tournament.

From changing tyres to singing lullabyes, the Irish fans endeared them to local residents and the wider world as they cheered on the Republic of Ireland team in recent weeks, and now we'll have a medal to prove how sound we are.
Mayor Anne Hidalgo said our nation's supporters have been "exemplary in their sportsmanship" and helped create an atmosphere that set them apart from other fans in France this summer.
It is understood that Mayor Hidalgo will be writing to President Higgins to inform him of her decision to bestow the Grand Vermeil – a truly prestigious honour – on the Republic's football fans.
Aw, what a way to top off the tournament!
