ITV2

We can all acknowledge that Love Island can have a damaging effect on our mental health.

For one, we arguably lose a few brain cells any time we binge a series of it, but also the lack of diversity in the show is stark.

From racial issues to ridiculously high beauty standards and zero plus-size contestants, it can all be a bit draining.

A new poll conducted by professional marketplace Bidvine has now revealed that four-in-five people feel insecure when they watch the ITV2 hit reality show.

Let's face it, the show depicts scantily-clad stunners in bikinis and swimwear all day looking gorgeous, and rarely ever shows them eating.

Presumably, there was pressure from producers and the show's bosses on the Islanders to maintain a certain weight and look when they entered the villa, which implies that finding love is purely for super skinny, athletic, bronzed beauties.

From an audience perspective, the show is as far from reality as it can get.

The Bidvine poll also showed that one in eight respondents claimed they had looked up plastic surgery costs whilst watching Love Island.

73 percent said that they felt insecure about their body and 55 percent said the same about their face.

53 percent of the programme's fans also said that they had looked up personal training costs, and 47 percent had searched for nutritionist services.

"Seeing chiselled bodies on Love Island and the summer months approaching, it is amazing to see how many people are seeking out fitness professionals,’ said Russ Morgan, Co-Founder of Bidvine.

Morgan warned that pursuing a healthy lifestyle needs to be done for the correct reasons, and not for body image issues.

Russ also elaborated on the value of seeing your own unqiue beauty;

"Don’t let a television show dictate how people “should” look and don’t work towards that unrealistic standard. Instead, pursue a healthy lifestyle and be confident in knowing that everyone is beautiful."

Since the show began on June 3, there has been a shocking 38 percent increase in personal training bookings through the professional marketplace and a 22 percent increase in nutritionist bookings.

The show's bosses caused outraged when quizzed on their lack of body diversity, after which they claimed the reason is because they "want people to be attracted to each other."

People of any look, race, gender or weight are attractive, there is no one standard of the perfect beauty ideal and the show is causing toxicity.

Make sure to take care of your mental health and be aware of how damaging insecure emotions can be as you focus on fitness. F*ck the 'summer bod' trope.

Now, we don't approve in the slightest when women are pitted against each other. It's usually fairly toxic, but we genuinely are confused about the Amy versus Lucie debacle.

Twitter was going OFF last night after the latest Love Island recoupling, where Lucie was saved by Joe. Unfortunately for Amy, her disappointed facial expression was caught on camera, and fans of the show were not exactly loving her look.

It's safe to say the viewers turned on Amy, after the former friends came to blows during the food fight task. Lucie definitely went a little overboard with her targeting of Amy, but the treatment of Lucie in the villa seems pretty unfair.

Yikes.  "Amy is the ‘friend’ that slowly prays for your downfall behind your back," expressed one Twitter user. That sentiment was echoed online, with the audience sticking up for the surfer chick.

Even Dani Dyer had her say; "Just want to give Lucie a cuddle, they need to chill out and leave the girl alone." Joe was acting like a possessive boyfriend again, calling her male friendships "weird" for no reason.

The girls in the villa are also extremely put out by the fact that Lucie gets on with the boys a lot better, and now the poor gal is getting more and more isolated.

Fans are getting concerned for Lucie's wellbeing, after her female friendships seem to have imploded and Joe is arguably carrying out emotional manipulation.

Malin Andersson tweeted; "Can the producers make sure Lucie is ok please." Totally fair comment, in our view. The showrunners have to look out for this type of issue in the villa, and for the mental health of contestants.

"This was horrible to watch. Mental health has been such a big thing but she is constantly being targeted and being made to feel shit. Give the poor girl a break and maybe some support," tweeted another fan.

The viewers are claiming that Amy is leading the pack in terms of bitchiness, and is possibly jealous of Lucie and wants to remain the number one couple alongside Curtis Pritchard, her 'half-boyfriend.'

"The girls are bitchy but Amy’s leading it all, she doesn't like Lucie and she’s 100 percent manipulative.

"She’s turning everyone against her and she can see it’s making the poor girl miserable, then she’s turning on the tears for effect," wrote another Twitter user, having zero time for Amy.

Lucie was trending on Twitter last night after the episode, with many expressing worry for the 21-year-old, and rightfully so.

Another fan pointed out that the sudden turn taken against Lucie began after the whole 'half-boyfriend' announcement, where Amy claimed Lucie stole her and Curtis' thunder. Bit strange?

Amy's consistent talk of Lucie has caught the attention of the audience, who noticed her seeming obsession with discussing Lucie's absence from the group and relationship with Joe.

We're not sure what Curtis really thinks about Amy's constant talk of Lucie, but we don't think he'll have a lot of time for behind-your-back bitchiness.

"Maybe she wants some time on her own?! It’s intense man! Leave the girl to work our without making her feel like she has to sit in a 24/7 mothers meeting," wrote another viewer.

It's an extremely claustrophobic environment in the villa, it makes sense why Lucie would want time to herself.

Time will tell whether Lucie and Joe will stay together, despite Joe's clear emotional issues and lack of self-esteem. Why else would he be obsessed with Lucie only becoming friends with girls?

Amy and Curtis seem to be stable, but if Amy apparently continues to create a bitchy atmosphere, anything could happen.

Tune in tonight at 9pm to see the drama unfold.

The whole Sherif drama is firmly over, and we STILL don't have answers about why he was kicked out of the Love Island villa. We enjoy a good mystery but this is getting ridiculous.

According to the man himself, it was "a case of poor judgement", and we'll most likely never hear anything else. Did he break the solo sex rule? Did he leak secrets on his phone? Is it about a sponsorship deal?

We honestly can't sleep at night without knowing some answers. Sherif is now back in the UK, and The Sun are claiming that two bodyguards have been stationed outside his London home since his return.

Image: Instagram/@sherif_lanre

A spokesperson for Love Island has since responded to the claims that producers have hired 24-hour security for Sherif Lanre by saying;

"Security is provided to assist families as part of our duty of care," a rep for the show told Digital Spy.

Faked messages from Sherif leaked the other day, stating that the 20-year-old fought with Anton and was removed.

Sherif and ITV producers released a vague statement following his removal;

"In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa," Sherif said.

"I regret that I didn't conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it's something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside," Sherif continued.

Since his return, he thanked supporters and family on Twitter and Instagram:

"Thank you to everyone including my friends and family for the support I've come back to. I appreciate you all and hope I provided some good, positive moments during my time on Love Island and for anyone wondering I'm all good  #ItIsWhatItIs."

Love Island fans simply couldn't hold it together after Maura Higgins made a dramatic entrance into the villa, and laid all over her cards on the table.

The County Longford model and 'grid girl' was hailed a 'bad b*tch' on her arrival as she sparked arguments between Molly Mae and Tommy Fury.

The villa's other ladies made sure to heckle her during her dates with Tommy Fury, and Michael Griffiths, but Maura gave as good as she got and even fed Michael from her fork. *GASP*

Maura's interest in Tommy caused quite the blow up between himself and Molly Mae, but her flirtatious banter with him was a ballsy move and fans are loving it.

The midlands girl attempted successfully to turn Tommy's head, after borrowing a jacket from Molly Mae, who later exploded at Tommy in a rage. We had to laugh…

Fans were soaking up the drama, with one Twitter user saying: "Takes a proper Irish girl 30 seconds in the villa to get the buzz going. And now the real show begins. Maura Higgins I love you."

The memes were in flying form;

The UK couldn't quite handle Maura's filthy mouth, but she knows how to play the damn game and we HAVE to stan:

Her declarations of "the things I'd do to that man", and "I wish he was eating me" had the general public pure shooketh:

News also emerged that Maura was once ENGAGED, which is some serious tea:

Eagle-eyed fans spotted it on her old Depop account, but she's a single woman now so things must have turned sour. It is what it is, gals.

We can't wait to see what ridiculousness goes down later tonight, tune in at 9pm on Virgin Media 2.

Love Island's latest hopeful, Maura Higgins, is causing an absolute splash in the villa and she's only been there five minutes.

The Longford native and 'grid girl' entered the villa last night alongside Essex eyelash technician Elma Pazar, and has set her sights on Tommy Fury already.

The 28-year-old has been warned by bosses after an unearthed video shows her shouting an offensive gay slur.

The MailOnline revealed footage of Maura yelling "f****t" on a Dubai holiday with her gal pals.

Apparently, she was quoting The Hangover, you remember that Bradley Cooper comedy in Vegas with Mike Tyson's tiger?

When asked about the dodgy footage, an ITV spokesman claimed: "We do not tolerate any offensive language in the villa."

The ITV source continued; "We speak to all of the islanders to remind them of what we condone to be acceptable behaviour during their time on the show."

The stunning model is set to get on the wrong side of Molly-Mae, Tommy's current coupling partner and resident 'blonde bombshell' of the show. They seem to overuse the word 'bombshell pretty' much all the time…

The offensive clip circulated ahead of Maura's initial Love Island appearance, when she strutted in alongside Elma Pazar. Danny, Tommy, Anton and Michael have to create a three-course meal for the new girls.

The model has starred in a music video with One Direction's Liam Payne, her main claim to fame it would seem.

Maura has also explained that she had to leave Ireland for work, saying that the modelling industry is closed off to country girls like her.

We can't wait to see what happens between Molly Mae and Tommy tonight, it looks light a major jealousy argument is brewing because of Tommy's head-turning antics.

We've all been left totally in the dark about Sherif Lanre's strange Love Island exit, with conspiracy theories and faked texts coming in left, right and centre.

The 20-year-old allegedly broke the villa rules, but the exact reason has yet to be explained.

Both Sherif and ITV released statements yesterday, saying;  "After breaking the villa rules, Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa."

Sherif himself said: "In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa."

"I regret that I didn't conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it's something I know I will take on board and learn from. I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside."

However, the young chef and semi-pro rugby player has now broken his Instagram silence after leaving the ITV2 show.

Instagram: @sherif_lanre

In a statement on his Instagram Story, he wrote: "Thank you to everyone including my friends and family for the support I've come back to.

"I appreciate you all and hope I provided some good positive moments during my time on Love Island and for anyone wondering I'm all good."

He also included two cheeky hashtags; "It is what it is" and "Bigger things to come". The Londoner stayed quiet on the reason behind his axeing.

Speculation has been off the charts as to why he was kicked off the show, and his removal was totally ignored on last night's episode. Ian Stirling, the show narrator, simply said;

"Earlier today, following conversations with the producers, Sherif left the villa. But for other Islanders, it's another day in paradise."

Many think he broke the solo sex rule in the shower, others said he was too anti-social and refused to speak to people and some said he was physically fighting with Anton.

With Love Island in full swing, it's time to reshuffle the dating cards by throwing two new hopefuls into the mix. Maura Higgins, from Longford, and Elma Pazar.

With all the Sherif drama, the producers are seemingly distracting us from this strange twist by adding two new ladies to potentially make or break some couples.

Longford's Maura Higgins is a 'grid girl' and model, unsurprisingly. The 28-year-old describes her type as personality-driven, and loyal (Anton definitely won't be successful with that second trait).

"I would go for personality more than anything. I would definitely look for someone who is really honest and a very confident guy, but not arrogant and definitely someone who makes me laugh. They have to have banter, without a doubt," she explained.

Maura describes her biggest turn-off in a guy as, "Arrogance and someone who acts different around their friends. I can’t bear that!" Her celebrity crush is Chris Hemsworth, and we have to stan.

In terms of fidelity, Maura says, "If I’m in a relationship with someone, I’m loyal. That’s it. I’ve never cheated. I’ve been cheated on. I will trust someone until they do something wrong to me, I’m very much like that."

Speaking about girl code (*cough* Molly-Mae *cough*), she admitted;

"I think if you’ve put a label on something, boyfriend and girlfriend, then you just don’t go there. If there is a girl and a guy in there and they’ve put a label on it, I would never go there and I would hope that no one would do it to me."

She emphasises that she's the perfect Islander because, "I’m outgoing and I really am looking to find love. I’m a relationship type of girl. I hate being single."

"I was in a nine-year relationship that finished a few years ago. Then I was with another guy, we broke up last year sometime, then we got back together but the trust was gone and it’s not going to come back.

"It ended quite recently. As the trust is just gone, for me, there is no going back," she added.

She also revealed that she's willing to do whatever it takes, "I’d go extreme. It can obviously be hard because you could be really close with one of the girls but you’re in there to find love at the end of the day."

What's her claim to fame, though? "Through my modelling work, I’ve worked with athletes and people who’ve been in the public eye. I did a visual shoot for Liam Payne as well." Alright then…

Maura isn't heading into the villa alone. 26-year-old "eyelash technician" from Essex, Elma Pazar, is also joining the crew.

Who do you think they'll couple up with, or will they stay single? The drah-mah…we're not ready.

It has just been announced that Love Island contestant Sherif Lanre has been kicked out of the villa and won't be coming back, not even for Anna.

Bosses confirmed via Twitter that they have “mutually agreed” with Sherif that he should leave the ITV2 reality show after he broke the rules.

The reason behind his removal not confirmed, but according to Love Island Reactions, viewers will find out what happened on tonight and tomorrow night's shows.

It's suspected to be the fact that he's been seen on his phone numerous times on camera, but apparently he will pretty much just vanish from sight after tomorrow and Ian Stirling will do a voiceover announcement.

A spokesperson for the show said: “After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”

Sherif said: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.

“I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20-year-old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from." Police weren't involved, so it was presumably minor.

This also means that his couple partner, Anna,  is now a single woman. The DRAH-MA.

It would take something monumental to force us to give up drink for a full six months, if we're being honest. That cheeky glass of wine on the couch watching Love Island is simply a must.

One of the islanders, Lucie Donlan, has revealed that she gave up drinking alcohol for six months before entering the villa to be at her healthiest when the show began.

The Newquay surfer opened up about the lengths she went to in order to feel her best. In scenes aired on Love Island's Extra Bits, Lucie said: "I haven't had a drink since New Years Eve." We gasped.

The 21-year-old has already caught the eyes of Tommy Fury, Joe Garratt and Anton Danyluk since entering the Majorcan set, and is coupled up with Joe for the moment.

In a candid chat with the girls, she admitted that she underwent a dramatic diet change in order to feel her best.

The reality star has been spotted nursing a drink in her hand since the show has aired, so it appears she's lifted her own ban.

It's likely that the health kick was to look her best for the ITV2 series, which emphasises looks and body image to a slightly alarming point.

Lucie dropped from a size 12 to a size 6 in under a year to make it as a professional model.

Lucie told The Mirror: "I used to be much bigger than I was now. When I was surf coaching when I was younger I was so much bigger and then I realised it wasn't healthy for me."

She changed her lifestyle completely for both her health and her image;

"I started eating much healthier and doing lots of cross fit with my trainer at home. I just carried that on just maintaining it," she explained.

"I did lots of surfing three times a week in a gym. I don't drink or smoke. I was probably about a size 12 and now I am a six to an eight. I was pushing on 11 stone. I wasn’t massive but it just wasn’t healthy."

Something must have worked, because she's been a successful fitness model ever since. We love a pint too much to ever try this though…

Molly-Mae has barely been in the villa five minutes but is already causing her fair share of tension among the girls and the boys alike.

Yewande deserves her shot at love, and when she was sent on a date with new Love Island-er Danny Williams, she came back positively glowing. GLOWING.

Despite the fact that Molly already has Tommy and Anton fighting it out to win her heart/other body part, she turned her attention firmly towards Danny when he walked in the door.

Yewande has failed to find romance on the show so far, after being coupled with the gorgeous Scouser Michael Griffiths, but Danny invited both her and Amber on a date last night and Yewande's seemed to go better.

Our excitement almost got out of hand when the pair kept making prolonged eye contact, but all was foiled the second Molly turned her attention towards him. "He's so my type," she says.

(Bear in mind, she has said this many times…) Irish Twitter were having absolutely NONE of her, though, and are backing up Yewande.

“Tall boys are just a thing for me,” Molly said. Talking about her flirtationship with Tommy Fury, she said: “I just feel like he is in ‘Tommy Land’ and I’m trying to get my way into it.

“Maybe I need to get into ‘Danny Land’?” Yewande was upset about Molly-Mae's comments, although she did insist that Danny isn't hers to have and to hold.

“She says he’s her type,” Yewande said. “Everyone is her f****** type.” Those science kitty claws are coming out, and we don't blame her. Molly is seriously trampling on girl code.

The memes about the love triangle were absolutely hoppin' on Twitter last night.

The UK and Ireland have both seemingly sided with Yewande, because she must be protected at all costs.

We love when Yewande stands up for herself, but that "everyone's her fucking type" clap back SHOOK US.

We are also SERIOUSLY appreciating the fact that Yewande is getting more screen time. God is good.

The boys escorting Yewande over to Danny, and Anna and Amy having her back until the end has us weeping:

Yewande's fan club aren't taking any risks when it comes to Molly-Mae…

The boys are lusting after Molly-Mae but realise that Yewande needs her Danny Boy:

They don't seem to mind stepping on each others toes, but Molly-Mae has already pissed off Amy when she asked for a date with Curtis so she CAN'T BE TRUSTED:

In summary, Team Yewande for the win, Team Molly is a sin. Our Irish representative in the villa needs our undying Danny love, and we have to stan.

Tune in tonight to see who Danny makes a move on, and to check out Amber and Michael slowly falling more in love *single tear*.

As we all know, Love Island doesn't air on Saturdays. We never really questioned why this happens, except that maybe the audience would be out living their lives on Saturday nights instead of staying in?

I mean, we'd still be game for watching it of course. Any day of the week.

However, it turns out the Islanders actually have a day off on Saturdays, without microphones. None of them are allowed to speak about the show at all, it's all about their home life so that nothing new happens off-screen.

The intensities of the Majorcan villa are probably a lot to handle 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Islanders are handed a break from relaxing in order to relax, basically…?

Former contestant Kem Cetinay revealed what happens during the Saturday break while appearing on This Morning.

He told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that the show's producers take them out of the villa/compound to the beach, which is fairly gas. It's like they're in summer camp.

He said, "They get one day off a week. What happens is it gives them a day to clean the villa and you take your mics off and normally we go to the beach and we just chill out.

"Not a lot of people know this. What happens is when you take your mics off, you’re not allowed to talk about anything to do with the show. You’ve got to talk about home life," Kem continued.

"You’re being watched by the producers because they don’t want you to talk about what’s going on." Phillip Schofield was absolutely shooketh at this revelation.

Kem also mentioned that there are strict rules about what the islanders can discuss during their day off, which is pretty weird.

"You can all sit and chat but they are quite careful about what you talk about because they want to keep it so everyone at home can see and get it on video," he explained. "It’s more a day off from all the intense games, all the intense dates, deciding who you like and don’t like."

Ex-Islander Chris Williamson previously said on his podcast: "Once a week we were allowed to leave the villa and weren’t filmed so none of the viewers would ever know.

"There was a day every week when footage wasn’t needed, which was liberating as you could talk about anything." It sounds a bit too like a cult, doesn't it?

Who is the latest sh*t-stirring good-looking person to be chucked inside the Love Island villa? Danny Williams, that's who. He's already starting a love triangle.

The 21-year-old is a model from Hull, and is exceptionally confident. No surprises there.

In a teaser which aired at the end of Friday's episode, Danny said:

"I would describe myself as a happy-go-lucky guy. I think I'm funny, I can be, but definitely someone who's ambitious and knows what they want."

Danny's Instagram describes him as a 'fashion model", with a bio saying, "Work hard, be nice." He's really transforming the world of philosophy there, isn't he.

Williams has chosen to go on a date with both Amber and Yewande, which will go ahead in tonight's episode. Drama is to be expected, but we suspect he'll suit Amber more. They both have that ego thing going on…

Danny joins Amber Gill, Anna Vakili, Amy Hart, Anton Danyluk, Joe Garratt, Molly-Mae Hague, Tommy Fury, Curtis Pritchard, Lucie Donlan, Sherif Lanre, Michael Griffiths and Yewande Biala in the Spanish villa.

The first dumping of the series happened on Friday, with Callum Macleod getting eliminated from Love Island first. He later shared that he had a bit of a crush on Yewande, which was some spicy goss.

The hit ITV2 show continues nightly on Virgin Media 2 at 9pm. Will Danny choose Amber or Yewande to be his lady? Time will tell.
