In unexpected hero-of-the-day news, Jeremy Clarkson appears to have saved four men in Majorca.

According to The Sun, the presenter diverted his yacht to save some tourists who had drifted out to sea on lilos.

The former Top Gear star saw the four men, two French and two German, struggling after "a brisk wind" swept them a mile away from the coastline.

When asked if the men recognised who he was, Jeremy said they started laughing when they realised his identity.

And after the rescue, Jeremy celebrated by going to the pub.

In a series of tweets, the controversial celeb accounted what happened:

It seems that Jeremy Clarkson has backed down off his high horse and has apologised to the Irish Top Gear producer who he punched last year.

Oisin Tymon launched legal action against Jeremy and the BBC after the car fanatic punched him and left him with a bloody lip last March.

Mr Clarkson allegedly completely lost his temper when he was told he couldn't order a sirloin steak after a day of filming. He then proceeded to call Oisin a "lazy, Irish c***" while they were at their hotel.

But today, Mr Tymon's lawyers have revealed that the case has been settled and Jeremy paid the producer £100,000 (€126,000).

Jeremy has now issued a statement via his law firm: "I would like to say sorry , once again, to Oisin Tymon for the incident and its regrettable aftermath.

"I want to reiterate that none of this was in any way his fault. I would also like to make it clear that the abuse he has suffered since the incident is unwarranted and I am sorry too that he has had to go through that.

"I am pleased that this matter is now resolved. Oisin was always a creatively exciting part of Top Gear and I wish him every success with his future projects."

Jeremy reportedly tried to apologise to Oisin before, and last June he tweeted that he was "so sad and sorry it's ended like this" after his last Top Gear show with James and Richard aired.

Jeremy Clarkson is known for his bizarre acts, but he shared a photo last night which is causing a lot of hype on Twitter.

The ex-Top Gear presenter posted a snap of two cars, one of which is a police car and captioned it, "my night."

And.. that was it. No other information, no other photos, no nothing. Thanks Jeremy.

The tweet came just hours after it was announced former Friends star Matt LeBlanc will star alongside Chris Evans on the all-new Top Gear.

It seems that it's one thing after another for the latest Top Gear presenter, Chris Evans.

First, it became known that Chris can't talk while driving, which is a big part of the show, and then it was reported that Mr Evans got motion sickness while driving, which isn't particularly good either.

And now, the Mirror is reporting that Chris has threatened to leave to show, before it has even started.

"Chris isn't a quitter but it was all getting on top of him and he began wondering if it was all worth the hassle. He was being driven to distraction by all this when all he wanted to do was make good television.

"Things got so bad that he made his feelings very clear. It was more or less a 'butt out or I'm out situation'," a source told the newspaper.

It's clear that a lot of people are gearing the show up for failure before they have even given it a chance, but with things going so badly, it's a wonder if it will even make it to our screens.

And, with Jeremy and the lads new show airing on Amazon Prime around the same time, we'll have to wait and see which one wins the top seat.

There has been a lot of controversy about Chris Evans taking over Top Gear in the past few months.

He was brought on to the show to give it a new look, a new vibe and a new reputation after Jeremy Clarkson.

But it all seems to be a bit too much for Chris, as during filming he had to stop the car he was driving and to get sick.

The 49-year-old was filming in California and had to make a hasty exit from the Audi R8 V10 as he felt queasy from going too fast.

He was with his co-star Sabine Schmitz, a professional driver, at the time and appeared bent over with his hands on his knees, beside the €177,000 sports car.

After his ordeal, he looked a little shaken up and had to take a break from filming.

However, we can't help but wonder if Chris is right for Top Gear, as last month he revealed that he finds it difficult to talk to the cameras while driving too.

The revamped show debuts in May, so we guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It was a shock to hear how much Amazon Prime is paying for the Top Gear boys to hit the small screen again.

Yup, for those that don't know it's coughing up an astonishing €220m for 36 episodes – which is enough to make anyone's eyes water.

Understandably, the boys seem to be delighted to be back on the road (hey, so would we), but they have certainly caused a lot of controversy in doing so.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Netflix's influential Neil Hunt said bluntly that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were simply not worth that amount of cash.

It had been rumoured that the streaming service was interesting in signing up the former BBC stars for a Netflix original series, but evidently it wasn't willing to hand over a blank cheque.

"We have past episodes of Top Gear, so we have a pretty good gauge of what audiences like. Our buying decisions tend to be somewhat data-driven," Mr Hunt explained.

"We have a lot of data to get the deals we want, so there we go.

"Clearly it wasn't worth the money to make the deal… I think they sold themselves for way more money than they're worth."

You may think he sounds bitter, but Neil does have a point: the new, as yet unnamed show will have to fork out €6m for every episode that airs.

Whether Amazon Prime paid too much for the trio of presenters in question will remain unknown until the new show airs next year.

Following Jeremy Clarkson's dramatic exit as host of BBC's Top Gear back in March, his replacement has finally been revealed.

BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans will take over hosting duties on the beloved motor show starting later this year. Chris will be working with an "all new" line-up, meaning Richard Hammond and James May will also be bowing down from the show.

The news was announced last night, and Chris himself took to Twitter to confirm it was true and to thank the show's former hosts for their work. "First tweet as new Top Gear host. I would like to say Jeremy, Richard & James are the greatest. And NO I'm not leaving the R2 Breakfast Show," he wrote.

Clearly still reeling from the big news, Chris tweeted again just now, saying, "Morning Wednesday. Had a dream last night that . . . Oh no, hang on."

While Jeremy and Richard have both remained quiet on the social media front since the announcement, James did tweet this morning to say that Chris' appointment as host was "a ballsy call."

Not sure if that's a compliment or not…

As for the show's fans, the reaction so far has been very up and down, with some saying the show is as good as over without Jeremy and co.

Chris has signed a three-year deal with the BBC for the new version of the show. We're looking forward to seeing how he gets on…

Great British Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins has admitted she is giving Twitter a break after she became the subject of a cruel online bullying campaign.

Sue is currently in India on a filming trip and said she was shocked to discover the awful messages being tweeted from the UK, stemming from rumours she was set to replace Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear.

Jeremy was recently fired from the show after getting into a verbal altercation with a producer in public. In the last week or so, Sue had become the bookies' favourite to replace him, although neither Sue or the BBC had confirmed it.

In fact, Sue denied the rumours completely when a fan asked her if she was indeed in the running to replace Jeremy:

Earlier today the presenter took to social media to express her hurt and anger at the reaction to the idea of a woman presenting Top Gear, and said she had received hundreds of cruel comments including death threats.

"Guys, post the utterly fabricated story about me & Top Gear, my timeline has been full of blokes wishing me dead…" she wrote.

"This morning, someone suggested they'd like to see me burn to death."

Sue then announced that she was quitting Twitter for the foreseeable future, writing, "All of which goes to say that I am off Twitter for a bit. Love and peace x"

Such a horrible and unnecessary situation – we hope Sue returns soon.
