Kate Winslet is the latest Hollywood actress to speak out about the gender pay gap which has been the topic of much debate.

The Oscar winner has said that, unlike Jennifer Lawrence and many other famous ladies, she would rather not talk about the issue at all. She has that she is “having such a problem with these conversations.” 

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, she added: "I understand why they are coming up, but maybe it's a British thing. I don't like talking about money; it's a bit vulgar, isn't it?" 

Kate explained that she is “surprised” by the conversations and she that “it seems quite a strange thing to be discussing out in the open.”

The actress, 40, went on to say that she is perfectly fine with how things are going in the industry:

“I am a very lucky woman, and I'm quite happy with how things are ticking along." 

Many would be raising an eyebrow at her comments when taking into account how so many of her peers have been drawing attention to making less money than their male co-stars. Kate however doesn’t feel there is much she can add to the conversation.

“If I'd ever been in that situation I would have either dealt with it or removed myself from it," she said. "I haven't ever felt that I've really had to stick up for myself just because I'm a woman." 

Kate admits that she is uncomfortable talking about money publicly and would rather deal with these issues discreetly. 

Fellow actress Sandra Bullock however, does not feel the same way. She told Variety that she is sick of women being “mocked and judged” in the media.

“Once we start shifting how we perceive women and stop thinking about them as “less than,” the pay disparity will take care of itself. There’s a much bigger issue at hand. I’m glad Hollywood got caught.”

Another month goes by – and lo and behold there's another gorgeous, tall, slim and basically perfect model on the arm of Leonardo Dicaprio.

But it seems this one is a little different. In fact, waves of observers are calling Kelly Rohrbach The One.

They've already been on holidays together, and – gasp! – she's met his mammy too.

“When she came into the office, she floored us immediately,” recalls MJ Day, editor of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue of the first time her met Ms Rohrbach.

“She had that spark. She’s an incredible conversationalist. When she is around, you are sucked into her. She takes the room with her presence in the best possible way.”

Sounds like Oscar-nominated Leo has a keeper on his hands.

And 25-year-old Kelly, a former pro-golfer who has a keen eye on acting as well as modelling, has certainly seen her profile sky-rocketed since hooking up with the Hollywood playboy. 

Indeed, it seems The Wolf Of Wall Street star is adept at catapulting his love-interests into A-list circles.

They met at a party thrown for U2 when Israeli model Bar was just 20 – and then soon starting cropping up just about everywhere. In 2009, she even nabbed a coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover, but since splitting from Mr Dicaprio permanently in 2011, Bar’s been decidedly more under the radar. Time to nab a new A-lister, perhaps?

Apparently they met when she unsuccessfully auditioned for The Great Gatsby. Then 24-years-old and a former star of Gossip Girl, she already boasted a decent profile (though evidently she was deemed unsuitable for Gatsby – the role of Daisy instead went to Carey Mulligan). That year they were spotted canoodling in Cannes, but the romance fizzled out swiftly enough.

Blake arguably had the last laugh too: she’s now married to Ryan Reynolds (swoon), and her lifestyle site, Preserve, is a massive hit.

 

Toni Garrn – seen with Leo from May 2013 to December 2014

Aged just 20 when she first met the Hollywood playboy, the German model was regularly seen in sunny locations in a bikini alongside Leo. However, they split last December, and little has been seen or heard from her since. Indeed, the duo are said to actively avoid each other at celebrity events.

Still, she’s moved on all the same and now dates Dallas Mavericks hottie Chandler Parsons.

 

Kristen Zang – seen with Leo throughout 1995 to 1997

The actress, now 41 (aka surprisingly age-appropriate), was reportedly the only woman to come close to stealing Leo’s heat – and possibly nabbing a ring. After being set-up by his mother, they dated for close-to a year-and-a-half in the mid-Nineties as Titanic was being filmed.

Speaking of the relationship at the time, he rather un-Leonardo-like said: "I can’t wait to see her at the end of the day. She is the cuttest girl in the world!" The pair supposedly remain on good terms today and for years many of his friends reckoned a reunion was all but guaranteed when the time was right.

A Made In Chelsea cast-member during series seven, which aired last year, Emma is also a model (but of course) and a fashion blogger.

Based sporadically in LA (she has also dated Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalf), she met up with Leo at a Hollywood party six years ago. They went on a couple of dates during a period when the actor was on a break from Bar, but nothing ever materialised from their hook-ups.

 

Erin Heatherton – seen with Leo from December 2011 to September 2012

She recently said that Leo is a “wonderful person and he's a friend of mine”, before adding: “I wish him all the best.” Although she wasn’t always so positive: indeed, Erin, 26, was said to be devastated in the aftermath of their split three years ago.

The Victoria’s Secret model and Leo seemingly got on exceptionally well during their ten-month relationship, but when he jetted off to Australia to film The Great Gatsby, it was decided that their union wouldn’t go the distance.

 

Gisele Bundchen – seen with Leo from 2000 to 2005

Now married to professional American football player Tom Brady, with whom she has two children, Gisele and Leonardo were the darlings of the red-carpet circuit for five years. For some time they were actually considered to be one of Hollywood’s more stable pairings, but towards the end of their relationship they went through several on-off periods, and eventually called it quits in 2005.

The supermodel, now 34, supposedly dumped Mr Dicaprio for good when he refused to pop the question… and waves of women have been waiting ever since.

So many movie stars appear to inhabit a different planet to the rest of us, so it’s ridiculously refreshing when you encounter a celeb that seems like the type of gal you could shoot the breeze with of a Sunday afternoon while wearing week-old sweats.

Kate Winslet IS this gal.

She’s down-to-earth, she’s funny and she was around LONG before any of these other girl-next-door types showed up. *Cough* Jennifer Lawrence *cough*

Here are just a few reasons why Kate is, and always will be, our main girl.

1) She flashed Leonardo DiCaprio when they first met so that shooting a nude scene together wouldn’t be awkward.

2) She cried on Parkinson when she revealed that her husband at the time loved her latest film role.

3) She featured in US Weekly’s list of ‘Celebrities with Lack of Ego’.

4) She gleefully roared ‘Look at me now!” on a chat show after revealing she had been called ‘Blubber’ by school bullies and locked in an art cupboard.

5) She refused to slim down for her role as Rose in Titanic because she thought her curvier figure was a better representation of women’s figures in the early 1900’s.

6) Commenting on body image, she said: “As a child, I never heard one woman say to me, "I love my body". Not my mother, my elder sister, my best friend. No one woman has ever said, "I am so proud of my body." So I make sure to say it to Mia because a positive physical outlook has to start at an early age.’

7) She danced with the Honey Monster for a TV advertisement when she was eleven.

8) She was outraged when GQ airbrushed her photos for their magazine cover.

9) Commenting on her figure, she said: I look like people that walk down the street. I don't have perfect boobs, I don't have zero cellulite – of course I don't – and I'm curvy. If that is something that makes women feel empowered in any way, that's great.”

10) Talking about the detox and diets, she says: "I'm no stranger to the occasional dodgy juice, but it doesn't taste very nice and it is bloody boring. It's not a way to live."

It was revealed this afternoon that Naomi Watts has been cast for Divergent’s upcoming sequels, Insurgent and Allegiant.

Naomi will star as Evelyn, the estranged mother of Tris’ boyfriend Four/Tobias.

However, not all fans have reacted well to the casting of Naomi, as many have argued that Naomi looks nothing like her character’s description in the hit book series.

Veronica Roth, author of the novels described Evelyn as having “curly black hair and olive skin” and that her and Tobias, “… also have the same strong jaw, distinct chin, spare upper lip, stick-out ears. Only her eyes are different— instead of blue, they are so dark they look black”.

While that doesn’t sound exactly like Naomi, we still think the actress will be able to pull off the role when filming stars for Insurgent this month.

Watts will be joining an all-star cast which includes, Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet and Octavia Spencer.

Actress Kate Winslet has revealed that she is still haunted by her nude scene in Titanic.

The scene is now a shocking 17 years ago – we feel so old!

Speaking about the scene, Kate said that she fins it very strange when people ask her to sign the drawing/still of the nude scene: “I don’t sign that [picture] It feels very uncomfortable. Why would you do that? People ask me to sign that [picture] a lot”.

Kate also told of her distaste that a still from the scene was created and that it was never her intention for it to be that way: “There’s a photo of it as well that someone has lifted from a still of the film, and that photo gets passed around too. I’m like ‘No!’ I didn’t mean for it to be a photograph that I would end up seeing still 17 years later.”

Scarlett Johansson has admitted that she was nervous about going make-up free for Vanity Fair’s 20th anniversary edition.

Talking to Queen Latifah, the Captain America: The Winter Solider actress admitted to wanting to hide her face behind her hair.  She said: “It seemed so close, move that camera… I want to put my hair in my face and make it messy.”

However, The Avengers star wasn’t alone in going bare-faced as Labour Day actress Kate Winslet also took the plunge.

The photographs were taken by photographer Chuck Close who told Vanity Fair: “’I don’t do glamour shots, and they’re not airbrushed or whatever. So they can be, um…they can be rough.”

It’s not the first time the American actress has gone bare as she had to do a nude scene for her latest film, Under the Skin.

Talking about stripping off for camera, Scarlet said: “It really made me aware of when I was doing it, all the kinds of judgments and all of these things we place on ourselves. How self-conscious you can be about the way you look, your own vanity … It was really challenging but it was interesting.”

We wonder what Kate Winslet’s hubby would have to say about her recent declaration that Leonardo DiCaprio is the love of her life.

Despite having walked down the aisle three times before, the actress said she will always have a special place in her heart for Leo.

Kate first met the heartthrob in 1997 when they starred together as fated lovers Rose and Jack in Titanic and were reunited as husband and wife for Revolutionary Road in 2008.

The actress’ current spouse Ned Rocknroll needn’t panic just yet as there has never been any romance between Kate and Leo.

When asked who she would choose between the leading man in her new movie Divergent Theo James’ character Four or Leo’s Jack, Kate didn’t even need to think about it.

“Leo is my love of my life, how could you possibly even ask me that question!” she said. “If I said Theo over Leo, he would never let me stay the night at his house ever again. And we can’t have that because that’s where I stay.”

Kate Winslet is to be honoured with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Titanic actor will become the 2, 520th star to be honoured with a star.

Titanic director James Cameron and Kathy Bates, who also stars in the film, will be by her side for the big day.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies spoke about Kate’s honour saying: “We are so happy that Kate Winslet will be here on our famous Boulevard of Dreams receiving her well-deserved star … we’ve seen Kate shine in her roles and fans around the world have been anxiously waiting for this special day to come.”

All we want to know is, will Leo be there? Do it for Rose, Jack!

This girl just gets cooler every day!

Shailene Woodley has admitted to The Hollywood Reporter than when it comes to matters of the heart, she doesn’t discriminate.

The pretty actress who plays Beatrice Prior ‘Tris’ in the upcoming Divergent movie said: “I fall in love with human beings based on who they are not what they do or what sex they are.”

Shailene also spoke about her friendship with fellow actress Jennifer Lawrence who she says was the reason behind her choice to make Divergent. Shailene says that Jen urged her: “You must do it. You will not regret it for a second. Yes, there are some hard things, but there are so many beautiful things that will come from an opportunity like this.”

Jen must have been talking money because it is reported that Shailene will earn between $250,000 to $500,000 for the first movie. The numbers will likely reach into the millions for the subsequent films as they did for Jennifer and Kristen Stewart in the Hunger Games and Twilight series.

We are so used to seeing our favourite actors and musicians done up to the nines and looking fabulous.

However, Kate Winslet and Scarlett Johansson have proved in this month’s 20th Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair that you don’t need make-up to look fabulous after all. Looking fresh and radiant the two women bare all for a spread in the magazine.

The photos were shot by renowned photographer Chuck Close and there were some strict rules involved for those involved. The stars, normally used to being looked after and managed had to arrive alone or with one close friend; there were no fancy foods available – just sandwiches and coffee; the stars had to be available for three hours and have no hair, make-up or styling whatsoever.

We wonder if any divas turned this opportunity down!

Close has admitted that his unorthodox and refreshing way of shooting his subjects can sometimes gain “rough” results due to lack of photoshop and airbrush.

Other portraits also included Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey.
