Must they destroy everything we love? Every second of the day, it feels like we're hearing news of reboots and it's starting to genuinely upset us.

The latest reboot is set to be literally the world's favourite Christmas movie; Home Alone.

A new streaming service called Disney+ is set to launch in America in November, but announced that Kevin McAllister will return “reimagined for a new generation”.

New versions of Night At The MuseumDiary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper By The Dozen are also set to be recreated, so…we march at dawn? Grab your pitchforks.

Disney+ hasn't revealed any further details, or a release date for any 20th Century Fox classics they're dabbling with.

Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McAllister in the original film, had something to say about the matter and we had to laugh.

"This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like," he wrote, alongside a photo of him eating pasta on his couch, on his laptop like every one of us on Sunday nights.

He later added, "Hey Disney, call me!" Twitter were up in ARMS about the terrible news, with social media users asking; "If it ain't broke, why fix it?" It's perfection as it is.

Since 1990 when the first Home Alone movie graced our screens and changed our lives forever, the nostalgia has been building.

We've waited SO LONG to see Macaulay Culkin give us more Home Alone magic, and now our wishes have been granted, courtesy of Google.

Yes, Google have somehow persuaded the former child star to recreate some of the film's classic scenes, and it's as special as you might imagine.

The actor tweeted the 'Hey Google' ad yesterday, and sent the internet into mayhem;

It seems that Peter and Kate McCallister's parenting skills haven't improved in 30 years, but we're sure that raising about 2930282 children in a beautiful twelve-level house can't be as simple as it appears.

I mean, we've all gone and holiday and forgotten something vital. We've never forgotten a child, but sure look. Each to their own.

“Have you ever wondered what Kevin McCallister is like as an adult?,” Macaulay tweeted, and from the looks of things, he's pretty much the exact same.

Google is essentially helping him out this time around, so he doesn't have to fend off any burglars all on his lonesome. There are a few differences for Kevin as an adult, for one, he actually has a need to shave this time.

He puts out his back while jumping on the bed, much like the rest of us. He's not a kid anymore, SOB.

Culkin has retrofitted his gaff to be a super smart home, so there's no ingenious traps needed. Google implies that when you have a voice-activated tech assistant, warding off thieves is pretty damn easy.

Have a look at Kevin McCallister in all his adult glory, we're busy exploding with wistful thoughts of the blissful 1990s:

Keep the change, ya filthy animals.

As Christmas movies go, Home Alone has a fairly straightforward plot line. Kevin McCallister gets left home alone by his family, antics ensue.

But there's been one detail in the movie that has always annoyed us a little… and lots of other people too, it would seem.

Early on in the movie, a storm causes trees to fall on phone lines, meaning Kevin can't contact his mum and dad to let them know he's okay.

And yet later in the film, he successfully orders a cheese pizza (and manages to terrify the delivery man in the process).

So, before the days of mobile internet and all that jazz, how on earth did Kevin make a phone call with a broken phoneline?

Well, you'll sleep easy tonight because we've finally solved the mystery… with the help of some logical thought from a Reddit user on a thread about movie plot holes.

"I always assumed the tree actually severed the main trunk line to the whole town, but local calls within the same exchange still worked," the quick-thinking Home Alone fan wrote.

To set the record straight, the Huffington Post contacted American telecommunications company AT&T, who says the theory is definitely a solid one.

"Everything is changing now because of all this phone capability is moving into the cloud, but in 1990, that was absolutely a plausible scenario," spokesperson said.

"When you're trying to call from Paris, now you're relying on a whole series of connections including undersea cables, any one of which could have a problem, which would prevent you from reaching some particular telephone number."

Plot hole or not, that pizza scene is still one of our faves, for this line alone:
