With the vast majority of us needing a stiff drink to get through the latest episode of The Late Late Show, you can't say the good folk behind the long-running RTÉ show don't know how to provoke a reaction from viewers.

Unfortunately for Ryan and the crew, not everyone was impressed with the show's Valentine's Day content, with hundreds of people wasting no time complaining to the national broadcaster.

According to reports this morning, the programme received 176 calls and 120 emails – all of which 'offered negative feedback about the programme.'

In addition to this, the national broadcaster received 10 formal complaints regarding Friday night's episode which featured Al Porter, Linda Martin, and a particularly excitable studio audience.

Commenting on the negative reaction, a spokesperson for the station acknowledged the situation and assured the public that the complaints would be formally addressed.

"RTÉ will respond to these complaints within 20 days, in keeping with RTÉ Complaints procedure established under the Broadcasting Act 2009," they said.

Over half a million viewers tuned into see nation's singletons celebrate Valentine's Day last Friday.

It's all about love tonight on the annual Valentine's Day version of the Late Late show.

Host Ryan Tubridy will be playing cupid again this year, as a number of singles join him on the show to find their one true love.

In the romantic special, 200 singles from all over Ireland will be in the audience hoping that their perfect match is in the room too.

There will be dating games and all sorts of Valentine's-themed malarkey going on, and Ryan will catch up with Dave, one of last years romantic hopefuls.

Presenter Ryan will be joined by a host of familiar faces, as the likes of social media influencer James Kavanagh,  radio host Bernard O’Shea and presenter Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh will be on stage to chat candidly about love, sex and relationships.

Crystal Swing and Dickie Rock will be on hand to serenade the audience, and in a slightly eccentric turn of events, Linda Martin and Al Porter will collaborate on an 80’s rockstar performance.

Speaking about the love of sport, Cork camogie all star Ashling Thompson will also be on hand to discuss her amazing return to the pitch after a severe car crash left doctor wondering if she would ever be able to play the beloved game again.

The Late Late Show Valentine’s Special kicks off tonight at 9.35pm on RTE One, and we're already boiling the kettle in preparation.

It's long been the highlight of the broadcasting calendar: The Late Late Toy Show.

And while in previous times Irish diasporas have had to largely do without, getting the show online has in more recent years allowed those in the further flung locations around the globe to partake live in the spectacle.

Indeed, and with more 1.5million viewers expected to watch the show this Friday, Montrose today confirmed that the Toy Show will be available to watch worldwide for free, live and on-demand on the RTÉ Player.

Laura Whitmore has been in the centre of the public eye since taking to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.

From rumours flying that she was in a relationship with her dance partner, to her reveal that she thought she was voted off the competition too early, it sure has been a whirlwind.

And now the former MTV presenter has blasted The Late Late Show after controversial journalist Katie Hopkins appeared on the programme last night.

The Irish native took to Twitter to share a note. It read: " I was booked to go on the Late Late Show a year ago to talk about my child sponsorship with Plan Ireland (I’ve sponsored a little girl for six years in the Philippines).

“I had made a trip a month before to raise awareness of the children, specifically females, taken out of school too young to support their families.

“It was cancelled last minute and I was informed the charity had been told by the procure they don’t like doing those ‘charity pieces’.

“It angers me that certain other people who don’t need such a platform are given it to spread negativity and let’s face it absolute nonsense.

“It leaves me with little faith in this world.”

One fan wrote under the picture: “Keep the faith, Laura. You’re a good person and while it might not always seem like it you’re not alone. Big hug.”

Ah, Ryan. You did us proud last night.

Since it was announced that Katie Hopkins had an appearance on the Late Late, basically the entire population protested against it because, well… let's just say she's not exactly our type of person.

With most interviews, it's all about keeping the celeb more-or-less content, but that was far from Ryan's mind last night.

As Katie acted up like she usually does, Tubbers was taking no BS, even going as far as telling her she's acting like a child (which she was).

And the people of Ireland LOVED it:

Fair play Ryan, we love you even more now.

Look, we've all seen the episodes where the Late Late is just Ryan rounding up his Montrose mates for a bit of a chat.

But credit where it's due – on other occasions Tubers and his band of merry RTÉ researchers really pull out the big guns.

And this Friday is one of those weeks. Up on the couch is none-than Canadian Christmas crooner and all-round hilarious guy Michael Buble.

That's not all, however. Also in studio is Graham Norton, as well as Donal Skeehan, and Kerry footballer Kieran Donaghy.

To top it all up, the Late Late is celebrating the legendary Joe Dolan with tribute performances from – mega-swoon – Nathan Carter.

Fan of The Hairy Bikers? Then catch them on The Late Late Show tonight.

Dave Myers and Si King have been a firm favourite of ours over the years, and tonight they're coming to Ireland to chat all about their new cookbook.

But it's not just an ordinary run-of-the-mill book, nope, this one is all about chicken and eggs. And that's it.

The lads will also talk to Ryan about how they moved from behind-the-scenes to front their own TV show.

As well as The Hairy Bikers, Kathleen Watkinns, Minister of State John Halligan, Obesity expert Donal O'Shea and comedian Colm O'Regan will also appear on the show tonight.

Have your popcorn ready!

Ladies, we'll all need to chill our jets this Thursday because Michael Buble will be in Ireland.

The Canadian crooner will be on Irish shores to pre-record an interview and perform on The Late Late Show.

And to top it all off, they're looking for a few audience members so you might be able to see him in the flesh.

The Late Late's Twitter account wrote: "Ladies, remain calm! @michaelbuble coming to #latelate for special pre-record performance/interview. Email latelateextra@rte.ie for details.

Can you imagine the excitement?!

If you're staying in tonight then we'd suggest watching the Late Late Show, because there's going to be some major (and hot) Hollywood stars on set.

Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena will join Tubbers on the couch right after their film, War on Everyone's Dublin premiere.

Alexander is known for starring in True Blood, Zoolander and he most recently took on the role of Tarzan in the new blockbuster movie.

Michael has starred in a long list of movies such as American Hustle, Ant-Man, Gangster Squad, Million Dollar Baby and The Martian.

We'll also see appearances from Jilly Cooper, Kerry Deputy Michael Healy Rea and will have music from Josh Christina, Smokie and Heroes in Hiding.

It looks like a great show!

If only for the resulting tweets, there is no denying that if you're staying in on a Friday night, The Late Late Show will probably feature at some point.

You opt to "shtick it on for a bit…" and before you know it you're furiously getting your housemates to enter the win-€20K competition, duly clutching your phone in blind hope.

And this week the guest-list isn't looking too shabby either – namely because Ireland's very own better-than-Obama president, Michael Dee, will feature.

"President Higgins will join Ryan to chat about life as the State's first citizen, his plans for the future, and, as the 1916 centenary year winds down, he will share his vision for a new Ireland," a statement from RTE reads.

Meanwhile, writer Stefanie Preissner will tell viewers what inspired her hit new TV drama Can't Cope, Won't Cope and what it feels like to be labelled the "voice of a generation".

Ireland's Paralympics heroes Ellen Keane and Niamh McCarthy will also in studio, talking about their Rio success.

Then the very-funny Jessica Thom will discuss taking the challenge of her Tourette Syndrome and using it as part of her comedy.

PLUS there will be music from The Blizzards.

Now all we need is that €20,000 prize…

When James Corden loves someone, he really, really loves someone.

And after spotting footage of New Yorker, Mike Yung, perform a rendition of Unchained Melody in a subway station last week, the British star was determined to track him down and have him perform on The Late Late Show.

After receiving a standing ovation from the studio audience and bringing members of the house band to tears, Mike chatted with James who could barely contain his admiration.

When asked about the impact the original footage has had on his life, Mike told James: "It's been awesome. I got to meet you!"

Ladies, the goosebumps for this one are next level.

Well, we've been rather distracted since the Late Late Show couch hosted not one but TWO home-grown hotties at the weekend.

Cillian Murphy AND Jamie Dornan… sure, look – where would ya be having it.

Anywho, upon repeat watching of the RTÉ One segment, we've been picking up the Murphy-Dornan gems that prove once and for all that the pair of 'em are just about the best things to happen to Ireland in a long time.

Case in point: that moment when – after a spot of protesting too much – Cillian admitted to having a full-colour copy of Jamie's arresting Calvin Klein advert in his downstairs loo (us too, Cill).

Host Tubs couldn't resist flashing up a black and white snap of the now-famous campaign (can't say we blame him), although in response Corkonian actor Cillian threw out something of a dig.

Through a wry smile, he uttered: "I've never seen that before," before adding: "And I never want to see it again!"

"Well for a start that's not true," Jamie himself continued by way of a reply. "I've been to your house."

"You know the little toilet you have under the stairs?" the Down-man asked. "Wallpaper!" he jested while signalling to his Anthropoid co-star.

Cillian's response?

"Nah, that's the colour version…"

A spot of tongue-in-cheek banter? We're choosing to believe not, not least as every bathroom deserves a little bit a Jamie.
