Celebrities share their joy at Ireland’s resounding “Yes!”
The votes have been cast and counted, and the country has spoken: today was a historic day for Ireland, which became the very first nation to legalise marriage for all by public decree.
And interspersed among the hundreds of thousands of loud and proud "Yes!" voices (1.2m to be exact) were some very famous faces – and they were clearly overjoyed at the outcome.
Here, we round-up the best Tweets made around the world by 21 of our favourite celebrities.
The pure joy of it. I'm so proud of Ireland today… We can all take pride in making history. Only sorry I can't be there to celebrate!
