An innocent exchange went VERY wrong for One Direction singer Liam Payne last night, when he brought the wrath of the entire Justin Bieber fandom upon himself.

Just hours earlier, the singer had been busy tweeting his long term girlfriend Sophie Smith to let her know he was missing her – but the sweet moment didn't last long! 

The drama started when a particularly crazy Belieber made a comment at Liam's expense, writing, "@Real_Liam_Payne Isn't it kinda depressing for you to know that Justin Bieber will always be more successful than you?"

Liam gets thousands of Twitter notifications every day but this message obviously struck a nerve as the singer soon replied, writing, "@arianasmccann how many times have I been arrested," referencing Justin's less-than-perfect legal record.

That would have been the end of that – if Ariana (and thousands of other Bieber-crazy fans) hadn't continued to plague Liam with insults for the rest of the evening, calling him "pathetic," "a whale" and an "untalented, embarrassing joke."

Ouch.

Even after receiving spades of online abuse, Liam managed to stay relatively cool, posting a series of tweets to try and calm things down.

Unfortunately he didn't act soon enough though as the hashtag #LIAMHASNOCHILL began trending on Twitter almost instantly.

Poor Liam – we bet he'll be staying off Twitter for a while!

Liam Payne is not one to hold back on Twitter when it comes to haters or false rumours, but it seems something more has been on his mind lately.

Following a very noted absence on social media since the first week of January, Liam has come back with a serious message for his fans – give back.

In a lengthy post, the young singer spoke of his desire to do more humanitarian work to help those who are not as fortunate and urged his fans to do the same:

We really love Liam’s sentiment and it truly seems like the words are coming from somewhere very real – it sounds as if he has had something of an epiphany when it comes to the life he is leading!

There is a lot of speculation this morning that One Direction star Liam Payne has either gotten engaged, or certainly seems to be planning it.

Liam, who has been dating Sophia Smith since last year, began rumours amongst fans when he tweeted the lyrics to Magic’s song Rude: “Saturday morning jumped out of bed.” Rather than perhaps assuming the lyrics were just because it was Saturday, Twitter instantly jumped to the conclusion that he must be planning a proposal.

Then, Liam and Sophia sparked even further rumours when they were spotted shopping at the luxury jewellery store, Tiffany’s in New York on Saturday. Reports are now suggesting the pair may have gotten engaged.

If so, congratulations guys! Liam wouldn’t be the first member of the boyband to get engaged, as Zayn Malik popped the question to Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards in August 2013.

Eek, this Vine of One Direction’s Liam Payne is just a little (ok, VERY) awkward…

The clip shows the singer taking selfies with his fans, but his smile swiftly fades when each selfie is done as he rapidly moves from fan to fan.

Those poor lads are busy as anything, but surely this isn’t the most genuine way to do things?

We’re not so sure a selfie with our hero would mean much if we arrived home and saw that video…

The Daily Show has been accused of racism after a joke they made about One Direction in the context of terrorism has come under fire on Twitter.

The joke, by Jessica Williams, lists One Direction as part of a terrorist “supergroup” but fans of the band have been enraged by the gag, calling it racist and in bad taste.

Although Jessica never mentions one member of the band in particular, One Direction fans seem to think The Daily Show were taking aim at Zayn Malik:

We’re sure The Daily Show learnt a valuable lesson from all of this – just don’t mention One Direction. Ever.

Liam Payne is no stranger to causing a bit of trouble here and there but a recent snap has caused fury for many on Twitter.

The One Directioner was photographed holding a gun was with members of the reality show Duck Dynasty when the photo was taken and has angered many of his fans on Twitter who claim he is glamourising gun culture.

This is the second time the singer has been in the headlines this week as he took to Twitter just recently to deny that the nude photos circulating the internet were of him.

One Direction star Liam Payne has broken his silence on nude photos that emerged online showing him naked on a bed with another man.

The photos took Twitter by storm so the singer took to his own account to clear the air, tweeting: “Wow as if people think that weird photo going around is actually me lol think id rather tweet a full frontal than have people look at that.”

In true internet style, #WeAreAllWaitingLiam soon began to trend, teasing Liam to put his money where his mouth is and post a full frontal. As of yet, he hasn’t in case anyone is wondering.

Liam followed up the confirmation that the photos are fake by tweeting: “I’m 100% not homophobic. But I’m also 100% not gay so when somebody says I am I’m gunna say I’m not which does not make me a homophobe.”

Wow – sounds like Liam let these photos get to him in a big way!

The One Direction guys were celebrating Niall Horan’s 21st birthday in Las Vegas all weekend (well that puts our bash in the local to shame anyway!), and after photos of Liam Payne sporting a cast on his arm surfaced, 1D fans demanded to know what had happened to the singer.

The word on the street was that he “got a bit carried away” while break dancing (haven’t we all?), and hurt his hand that way. However, Liam’s rep is saying that he “hurt his hand while training” with weights. He added: “He will be fine.”

Hmmm… the old ‘lifting weights’ excuse eh? Maybe it’s true, but really, why would anyone be lifting weights when they’re in Las Vegas?!

Ah, well, the important thing is that he’s fine! Get well soon Liam!

It looks like Liam Payne is well and truly sick of the fat jibes he’s been getting lately and has fired back in a pretty hilarious way!

Liam is referring to some media reports and comments on social media that he’s ‘let himself go’ and isn’t as fit and toned as he used to be.

But not to be outdone, the 1D star took to Instagram to share this snap with the caption, "I mean OH MY GOD I'm just so fat these days I think I need help! quick someone take the cookie jar."

He didn't stop there, pointing out that fat shaming is so not cool, by including his ‘normal’ Body Mass Index (BMI) and writing, "Now just because I'm sick of seeing this everyday so I just want to clear up what the media do to people these days. Is it wrong to be normal?

"Or do I have to look like an Olympic swimmer just to get your approval into the cool kids or can I accept that the person I truly love thinks I'm the coolest kid in town anyway? Think I'll vote the second one 😉 enjoy your day people."

It is not known how the pop star actually managed to hurt himself so drastically but it resulted in him having to be seated for the rest of the show! Now that’s dedication, we’re surprised he didn’t call it a night!

Always the good guy, Niall got the crowd to cheer for Liam, who soon perked up a little. 

Liam’s fans soon took to Twitter to voice their concern for the boyband member, which soon resulted in #GetWellLiamWeLoveYou trending on the social media site.
