There was a time when having a phobia of clowns meant you simply avoided the circus at all costs, but with more and more clowns making their presence known by loitering in dark allies and lingering in dimly-lit neighbourhoods, it is, for many coulrophobes, becoming harder to overcome our fear.

It looks, however, like society's phobia of the ever-smiling circus staple is having a detrimental effect on clown morale right now, and they've decided it's time to exercise their rights.

In an effort to remind the public that clowns have feelings too, a march has, according to Uproxx, been organised in Tucson, Arizona which aims to integrate clowns with the larger community.

Commenting on the purpose of the march, organiser Nikki Sinn said: "This is a peaceful walk to show clowns are not psycho killers."

"We want the public to feel safe and not be afraid. So come out, bring the family, meet a clown and get a hug," she urged.

Unsurprisingly, those involved in the march have experienced pushback from chairman of the Arizona Black Lives Matter campaign, Reginald Walton.

"The notion of a Clown Lives Matter rally is insensitive, as the issue of police brutality and violence is a serious issue and the clown issue is not as important," he argued,

"The Clown Lives Matter rally takes away the focus of a serious issue in this country that we are working with law enforcement and the community to resolve."

We're with him on that one.

If you're relying on the green line Luas today, it's time to make alternative plans.

According to the Luas website, the entire green line from Stephen's Green to Brides Glen has been suspended due to a technical fault.

Customers have been advised that tickets will be accepted on Dublin Bus services.

Commuters have been assured that the red line is operating as normal.

Ladies, get thee to the bus stop.

Public transport is, in anyone’s language, a complete and utter nightmare.

Yes, it's cheap (well, relatively speaking), fairly dependable (when they're not striking, that is) and pretty safe, but then there's all the, you know, other stuff.

For every punctual bus, train or tram, there’s a fellow commuter who won’t break eye contact with you, a random passenger who thinks the Luas is the right time to crack out a burrito or a person with limited control of their bodily functions.

And if you think you're alone in these daily transport struggles, you need look no further than Twitter to realise that public transport is, for each and every one of us, as harrowing as it gets.

 1. When this happens

2. When people aren't locked up

3. When people like you a bit too much

4.  When you're actually the biggest issue

5. When you'd be quicker crawling

6. When a fellow commuter isn't even human

7. When THOSE people get on

8. When you get ahead of yourself

9. When your life is in your hands… and you love it

When it comes to Halloween, some people like to observe and others like to get stuck in.

So, if you're not one for interactive haunted houses or full-on terror walks, but still adore Halloween, why not check out the Monster Season laid on by Dublin's Lighthouse cinema this month?

Kicking off on October 28th and running until the 31st, the Smithfield cinema, as part of the Bram Stoker festival, will be showing a range of the industry's most iconic monster movies,  and we are all over it.

From The Mummy to Frankenstein, these 1930s movies put modern-day horrors to shame.

Oh, and if you feel like wheeling out your traditional garb and dressing up while getting your shriek on, go for it.

See you there, ladies.

If you found yourself listlessly waiting on a green line Luas for longer than usual this morning, it's due to the fact Gardaí were forced to remove a disruptive passenger from a tram at the Beechwood stop shorty after 7am.

According to The Irish Times, Luas staff requested the assistance of the Gardaí after a member of the public refused to stop filming members of staff.

Under Luas bylaws, the "use any camera or video recorder or any form of equipment for recording sound or images so as to interfere with any other person" is not permitted while travelling on the city's tram system.

It has been established that the same individual had also been caught filming Luas staff members yesterday.

According to a spokeswoman for Luas operator, Transdev, the passenger also attempted to knock the leap card reader from the ticket inspector's hand before being removed by Gardaí at the Beechwood stop in Ranelagh.

The incident caused a 15 to 20,minute delay on the green line this morning.

If you are or ever have been a pet owner, there's a good chance you have, at some stage in your life, played dead just to see how your pet would react to the scene.

And if you haven't, you're really missing out.

But if you think this bizarre activity is reserved for us humans, think again.

Taking to Twitter to give the public an insight into the relationship between her dogs, Jack and Archie, Sam Mhull shared footage of a recent exchange between the pair.

Rolling onto his back and allowing his head to loll backwards, Jack pretended he had met this maker… purely to freak out his little buddy.

"Jack has discovered that by playing dead he can scare the sh*t out of Archie," Sam told her followers, and Twitter cannot get enough.

"WE ARE NOT WORTHY OF DOGS," wrote one social media user while another added: "OMFG! that is so adorably heartbreaking. He's so upset over his buddy and the other dog is internally cracking up."

Jack, your work here is done.

If Halloween is a bigger deal to you than Christmas and New Year’s Eve combined, then you’ve no doubt cleared your diary for the month of October.

But if you – like us – are die-hard Scream Queens, you’ll know that Halloween is more than just an October event.

And luckily, Dublin’s RDS have proven that they're on the exact same page as us by wringing every last shriek out of this year's fright-fest.

Touted as Ireland’s most terrifying scare house, The Nightmare Realm opened its doors at the end of September and will be accepting the country’s bravest visitors until November 5.

Preying on your deepest darkest fears, this asylum of the damned is waiting for you and your most courageous mates to step on in.

Catch you there, right?

We're all for being the designated driver when our mates are on the pints, but the designated ugly friend when our mates are on the pull? Not so much.

Unfortunately for us – and you – many of us are guilty of using our less attractive friends to make ourselves look better in the eyes of strangers.

While it may read like the screenplay of a high school movie, the 'ugly friend' phenomenon is as old as the hills, and according to a recent study published in Psychological Science is as real as the fear you are feeling right now.

In an effort to highlight the 'ugly friend' effect, researchers showed participants images of individuals and asked them to rate them on attractiveness.

Soon after they discovered that when the same images were shown alongside 'less attractive' individuals, the ratings for the original face soared.

Commenting on the findings, Dr. Nicholas Furl said: "We found that the presence of a distractor face makes differences between attractive people more obvious and that observers start to pull apart these differences, making them even more particular in their judgement."

And it seems the vast majority of us are – on some level – aware of this, and tend to opt for a less attractive wing woman or distractor face when on the pull.

Oh, and if you – like us – have found yourself thinking you don't actually have any ugly friends, it might be…well… don't make us say it…

Remember the last time a male friend rocked a pair of booty shorts simply so you could sit an exam?

Yeah, us neither but that's because we're not friends with Andrew Nguyen.

After being read the riot act on health and safety guidelines when it comes to science labs, Andrew's friend, Diana, was told she would need to find appropriate pants to gain entry to her lab exam.

And in a move which has seen him hailed a hero by thousands, Andrew lent Diana his pants so she'd be permitted to participate.

With no desire to roam the halls in a pair of girl's hot pants, Andrew decided to chill out in the bathroom and share his story on Twitter.

"My friend needed sweat pants in order to go in her lab and take a quiz so I'm just chilling in the restroom for 50 mins with booty shorts on," he wrote in a post which has been liked almost a quarter of a million times in less than 24 hours.

"That's a ride or die friend," wrote one Twitter user while another added: "What a great friend."

Unsurprisingly, some social media users couldn't pass up the opportunity to scorn Andrew's efforts, with one writing: "That's the definition of the FRIEND ZONE FOR LIFE."

Ah, shush! (We love you, Andrew!)

If you weren't lucky enough to nab tickets to the All Ireland replay in Croke Park this Saturday, you might be feeling a little dejected at the thought of having to watch it in your living room or local boozer.

Whether it's the idea of battling over the remote with roommates or jostling for a glimpse of the pub's screen with fellow supporters, when it comes to a match as important as this one we can't leave anything to chance.

Thankfully, we won't have to as ODEON cinemas are offering GAA supporters the opportunity to kick back in front of the silver screen and watch Dublin and Mayo fight it out for the title this Saturday.

With throw-in at 5pm, sports fans and their friends and family can prepare for the big moment with pre-game coverage at 4pm before the boys in blue go head to head with the men from Mayo.

Will Mayo break the curse of 51 or will Dublin nab their 26th title?

Head along to your local ODEON and find out!

If we thought the country was gripped by All Ireland fever earlier this month, it’s nothing on the excitement currently building in the run-up to this weekend’s replay.

Oh, but if you think donning your jersey and waving your flag is enough to show your support for the lads this Saturday, think again.

Ladies, by the looks of things in the wesht, if the breakfast you tuck into before making the pilgrimage to Croke Park doesn’t boast your county colours, you may as well stay where you are and shout for the other lads.

Luckily for Mayo supporters, Kelly’s butchers in Newport have taken the situation in hand and are now proudly displaying a selection of red and green sausages in preparation for the big day.

But whether Stephen Rochford and his men will be tucking in is another question…

Not only does college open your mind to countless ideas and theories, it also reinforces the notion that living alone under a bridge with only a tin can for company will always be preferable to rooming with someone you don't like.

Whether they steal your stuff, eat your food or throw shade at you over Twitter, a bad room mate situation is something most of us will try to avoid at all costs.

And while some of us tiptoe through the situation, others are much better at confronting it head-on as one Twitter user recently proved.

After realising that her roommate was slagging her online, Twitter user, uncle jessy, got her revenge by printing out the offending tweets and hanging them up in their dorm.

From "I'm allergic to my room mate" to "Two weeks down and I already hate my roommate", this gal didn't hold back when it came to rage-tweeting.

The image of the print-outs has been shared more than 97,000 times and it, unsurprisingly, doesn't look like the situation has improved in any way.

Trading tweets back and forth, friends of the girls have now weighed in on the controversy, and while it looked like their time together might be coming to an end… neither will agree to leave.

"i was gonna move out but they want me to do it tomorrow lmao i got work and school why am i the one who has to pick up my life," uncle jessy asked. "If she hates me so much she can move out, im not going to…" (sic)

How much are you appreciating your own room mates right now?
