In desperate need of a new lippy?

In celebration of International Lipstick Day on Saturday July 29, MAC cosmetics are giving customers the opportunity to get their hands on one of the brand's cult lipsticks completely free of charge.

But, there's a catch.

As the old saying goes, there's no such thing as a free lunch and so you will need to spend a minimum of €50.00 in order to avail of the offer

The colours available are Cyber, Stone, Fleshpot, Media, Captive, and MAC Red.

This limited promotion will run in Arnotts and Brown Thomas stores all over the country for one day only.

So, if your makeup bag has been looking a little sparse lately, this is the perfect excuse to stock up on all those essential beauty buys.

Coco Chanel once said "if you feel sad, add more lipstick and attack," and this is a mantra we can ABSOLUTELY get down with. 

Well, with that in mind, we started to think about our favourite lippies, and what colours we especially love to wear in the summer (when the sun actually decides to shine.)

 Fleur de Force is one of the world's biggest bloggers, boasting a following of over one million fans across social media.

The beauty obsessed blonde has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to create her signature lip stick, which is being sold online at MAC and at Brown Thomas.

Today, the blogger will be in Brown Thomas to discuss her new lippie shade, and will be hosting a meet and greet in the Grafton Street store.

'Take your photo with Fleur, try her perfect nude lipstick and discover her favourite M·A·C products,' reads the event description.

In case you didn't manage to get your hands on a ticket to the event, Fleur will be over on the Brown Thomas Facebook page at 4.30pm doing a Facebook live.

The blogger is set to discuss her new venture and will be doing a Q&A session live on the social media site.

When we go to choose a new colour for our lips, we consider a few things.

Is the lip shade 'in'? Will it make my teeth look yellow? Is it matte or gloss?

However, one thing we never take into consideration is… the colour of our nipples.

But, according to The Doctors, the best lipstick shade is the on that matches your nipple colour.

Weird, huh?

The reason behind their theory is simple; it compliments your skin tone (which we suppose makes sense).

Balmain is one of the hottest high-end labels around, thanks to their sell-out collaboration with H&M and the Kardashian's obsession with the brand. 

Now, the luxury company is joining forces with high street makeup brand L'Oreal Paris to create a bespoke capsule collection of gorgeous lippies.

Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing revealed all on Instagram today, posting a picture of the new collection with the caption 'coming soon.'

There won't be just a couple of shades to choose from, with a grand total of 12 lipsticks gracing the shelves at a currently undisclosed date. 

The lippies will be made in L'Oreal's classic Colour Riche formula, but the colours come straight from Olivier.

'L'Oréal Paris and Balmain share the same strong vision of femininity and the same goal, to empower women and offer them diverse ways to express themselves,' Olivier told Vogue.

'With this collaboration, I'm thrilled to make this idea tangible for every woman around the world.'

We're dying to get our hands on every shade!

Plenty of beauty bloggers release their own affordable collections for their fans and followers to get their look, but one mega-blogger from the UK was invited by M.A.C to created her very own lippie for the beauty behemoth.

Fleur De Force has a hugely successful YouTube channel and blog, with over 788,000 followers on Instagram and almost 1,5000,000 subscribers on YouTube. 

Now, the beauty mogul is coming to Dublin to celebrate the launch of the one-of-a-kind lippie.

'A little bit of an update on #MACxFLEURDEFORCE guys,' the blogger said in an Instagram caption.

'Due to a problem out of my control, my lipstick is now launching on the 8th MAY! So sorry for the delay BUT I'm super excited to announce that I'm partnering with @TheOfficialSelfridges so it will be available both on the MAC website (from 8th May) and on Selfridges MAC counters and on the Selfridges website (from 10th May).' (sic)

'I'm also going to be hosting some meet ups in the Trafford Centre Selfridges store, and @OfficialBrownThomas in Dublin to celebrate the launch! More details to follow.'

Fashion month has officially come to a close, and we are now all waiting for the fantastic backstage beauty product launches from MAC Cosmetics.

We have great news, as the M.A.C. Metallic Lips line is launching in just a few weeks.

We spotted MUAs using the new metallic lipsticks at the Lanvin F/W 2017 show and fell madly in love, even if some of the shades are a little bit "out there".

The exciting new product will give your lips a foil-like look, but with a matte finish, which is pretty difficult to achieve. 

The metallic lipstick range is set to include 18 different foil shades, such as an emerald green, a midnight blue and a rosy pink. 

While these are fabulous lipsticks for any makeup enthusiast, we also love the fact that some of the lighter shades can also double as a highlighter, for those of us who don't feel like forking out the money for both. 

The lipsticks are set to retail for €20, making them pretty affordable, when you consider how cool they are. 

The M.A.C. Metallic Lips line will be available March 23 online and in stores.

We were literally gagging while reading about this because it is so unbelievably ridiculous and pointless… not to mention disgusting.

Across the pond in Kansas, USA, a man, who has never experienced a period, thinks that glueing your vagina together is a good idea.

Why? So blood doesn't escape when you're on your period. 

This guy must think periods resemble a scene from The Walking Dead, because God forbid any blood leak. Gasp! Shock horror! Ugh…

According to Metro, chiropractor, Daniel Dopps, shared a post on Facebook explaining how this lipstick glue is a safer option if we want to control our periods…

Stating how "natural" it is, the Facebook post reads: "Mensez is a natural combination that is applied to the lips downunder during the period."

Another Facebook post about the lipstick tries to compare periods to hair in a shower drain.

"Humans like things to be in their place and when they are displaced we perceive it as gross, nasty and unhealthy. We all love our hair until it gets out of its place and in the shower drain.

It goes on… "Mensez ends period mind games, the blood stays secure inside where it should be." 

"You don't have to see it anymore and you certainly don't have to touch it anymore… Like a self-cleaning shower drain."

A self-cleaning shower drain. Great.

We think we'll stick to tampons, thanks (even if that does mean seeing blood… shocker).

Are you looking for love, or simply want to get your current lover down the aisle? Well, we may just have your answer. 

According to Emily Popp, Deputy Editor at HelloGiggles, she got a gift last year from her brother and his girlfriend that was meant to help her land a husband.

No, it was not a subscription to a dating site – it was a lipstick (we're not joking).

The lipstick was from Estée Lauder's Pure Colour Crystal collection, and apparently the ingredients are renowned in Japan for magical matchmaking powers. 

On Estée Lauder's Japanese Website, the review comments are filled with women who swear the pink lippy led to their engagement. 

Incase you're wondering, there are no official "rules" to how often you need to wear the lipstick or when to wear it "for best results."

We have to admit, we are not at ALL convinced by this whole concept, but it makes for some interesting reading, right?

Between the bright orange suit and the infamous pixie cut, Ruby Rose was the talk of the red carpet at last week's People's Choice Awards. 

However, the OITNB star's look would not have been complete without her flawlessly edgy face of makeup. 

The dark burgundy lip and natural bronzed complexion really finished off Ruby's killer red carpet ensemble. 

The good news is that Jo Baker, the makeup artist behind this look, has revealed the products she used on Ruby Rose, and we are SO grateful. 

The bold, dark burgundy lip was created using Urban Decay's Vice Liquid Lipstick in shade Blackmail. 

Jo also revealed how she achieved that perfect pout, saying that "the key to creating a dark and bold liquid lip look is prepping the lips before lipstick application."

"Use a sugar scrub on the lips to remove any dryness or flaky skin. Next, apply a lip balm and leave it on while you apply the rest of your make-up.

"Finally, use a tissue to remove any excess lip balm and then apply your lipstick, starting with the lip line and finishing by filling in the rest of the lip."

Seems fairly straight forward.

Earlier this year, Ruby Rose was announced as the brand ambassador for this new Vice lipstick collection, which is due to hit counters in Ireland on Valentine's Day.

In one of the most exciting beauty announcements of the year (we know we're only two weeks in, but still) MAC has teamed up with a host of high-end beauty influencers to create a social media-styled collection.

10 Instagram beauty bloggers from across the globe will debut their own custom MAC lipstick shades this April.

Influencers are now as popular as top models and celebrities, with leading makeup gurus accumulating millions of followers on Instagram.

Bloggers like Samantha Maria, Tanya Burr and Zoella Sugg have caused makeup products to sell-out after featuring them on their YouTube channels, so it makes sense that MAC would want to team up with such a commodifiable group of beauty lovers.

MAC revealed the face of one of their chosen influencers, Fleur de Force, who has over one-and-a-half million YouTube subscribers.

"It's beyond amazing to have been asked to collaborate with MAC, both because I adore the brand personally, but also for MAC to be acknowledging bloggers in this way. It's their first ever collaboration with influencers, and I feel so honoured to be part of it," the makeup guru wrote on her blog.

The lipstick colours will be named after them, with a hashtag added of course, featuring the bloggers' names, like #MACxFleurDeForce.

So far, it has been revealed that Fleur de Force will be joined by makeup artists Gabriel Zamora and Laura Lee, Kuwaiti influencer TheRealFouz, and Glamour UK Beauty Director Alessandra Steinherr.

MAC was one of the first brands to recognise the potential in social media influencers, and launched a "Bloggers' Favourites" collaboration with nine social media-savvy MUAs back in 2011.

Look, we give credit where credit is due, and Kylie Jenner deserves a right pat on the back for her cosmetic collection. The Kylie Lipkit is long-lasting (seriously, it won't come off), and comes in SO MANY fabulous colours. Also, despite the costly shipping fee, Kylie's cosmetics are relatively inexpensive.

4. NARS Velvet Lip Glide

This gorgeous matte has everything, including infused oil to leave your lips smooth and soft. It is available in 13 glorious shades, and you will love them all.

5. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick

We couldn't complete this list without giving you our drug-store favourite. If you are on a budget, or simply cannot get to a proper shop, then this lipstick is perfect for you. It has everything a matte lipstick needs, at a fraction of the cost.
