‘It’s why I’m on the show’ Grace Davies denies ‘record deal’ rumours
Grace Davies reduced Nicole Scherzinger to tears when she performed self-penned track, Roots, at her first X Factor audition, which aired on Saturday.
The 20-year-old left the four judges stunned by her heartfelt performance, and it came as no surprise to viewers that the talented young singer was rushed directly through to the next stage of the competition.
But as the first episode of the 14th season drew to a close over the weekend, rumours had already begun circulating that suggested Grace wasn't the struggling artist she made herself out to be.
Guys… I'm TOTALLY overwhelmed. Today has been like Xmas Day & Results Day all in one. Thank you so FREAKIN much!!!!(1/2)

With reports that she had previously performed with Olly Murs to whispers she had a number of connections in the music industy, Grace's claims that she desperately needed a break began to ring a little hollow.
However, it looks like Grace is all too aware how badly rumours can effect your chances in a show like the X Factor, so she wasted no time clarifying the rumours during a TV appearance this morning.
Speaking with Lorraine Kelly, Grace insisted that the rumours were unfounded, and the reports were blown out of proportion.
.@TheXFactor's @GraceDMusic puts the record straight: 'I've never had a record deal'
— Lorraine on ITV (@ITVLorraine) September 4, 2017
"I’ve never had a record deal. When I was 18 I self-released an EP. I wrote it all when I was 16 and 17 and I just organised a band and recorded it in my local recording studio," Grace told Lorraine.
‘I didn’t have a management, I didn’t have a label, I just stuck it up on the internet and hoped that friends and family would share it. I’ve never been signed to a record label, I’m still not, that’s why I’m on the show."
We wonder if that's enough to shut down the rumours…
