Eminem sues New Zealand political party for copyright of Lose Yourself
Eminem is suing New Zealand's leading political party for copyright infringement.
The rapper is suing the party for using what Eminem deems to be an unlicensed version of Lose Yourself.
However, the party's lawyers say the backing track was a song called Eminem-esque which was purchased from a stock music library.
Court proceedings began today, with the court listening to both tracks.
'The bottom line is we would never have permitted the use of the song in any political advertisement,' said Joel Martin, a spokesman for Eminem's music publishers.
'When licensed, it can command in the millions of dollars. That's how valuable it is,' said Eight Mile Style lawyer Gary Williams, according to the BBC.
