They performed on last night's X Factor final, but it seems we won't be hearing much more from the One Direction boys for a while.

After confirming back in the summer that they would indeed be taking an hiatus of a year or more come 2016, the famous foursome appeared to have finished things up early.

Within minutes of appearing on the X Factor stage, Niall, Liam, Harry and Louis took to Twitter to share this video goodbye with their fans, giving them a "massive" thank you, and calling the hiatus the "last part of our first chapter."

The lads also posted their own personal goodbyes via Twitter, but it was their faces at the end of their performance that said it all:

Hoooum.

While it's unlikely the 1D boys will be making any music together for a while, we could be hearing some solo writing and singing work – at least from some of them.

There has been massive speculation that Harry plans to launch a solo project, while Ellie Goulding has also confirmed she'll be heading into the studio with Niall.

"He's a good friend of mine and it goes without saying that writing a song with someone you are friends with and someone you get on with, you can't really replace that with anything," she said of their decision to work together.

"I write the best songs with someone I feel truly comfortable with. So, definitely I think it will be a laugh.''

Liam's also said he'd like nothing better than to keep his toe in the pop music waters, saying in an interview last week that he "just wants to write songs."

Wonder if they'll get back together at the end of it all? Well, we'll always have 2010…

The cuteness.

First, we heard the news that Liam Payne is planning to write songs for other boybands, and now it has been revealed that Louis Tomlinson is planning to work at Simon Cowell's record label Syco.

The boyband star is set to run his own label imprint, as well as guest star on The X Factor.

That will bring Louis and Simon back together to put some new talent out there, including potentially a “girl band,” as Louis told The X Factor’s Xtra recently.

“I’ve got, like, a little label imprint, so I’m trying to work with that at the moment,” Louis told hosts Melvin and Rochelle.

“I’m lucky enough to be working with Simon. We’ve got a few different projects going on at the moment — one of which is we’re actually trying to put a girl band together."

"Yeah, it’s just really exciting to be involved in the different side of it, the background.”

Simon Cowell has opened up about his fears about becoming a father for the first time, and what advice he has for another famous father to-be.

He spoke with Good Morning Britain and explained that while he had something of a shaky start, he has since embraced fatherhood.

The X Factor judge, and music mogul, is father to Eric who is almost two years old.

Simon admitted that when he was Louis Tomlinson’s age, he doesn’t know how he would have cope with the news he was going to be a dad.

“But he did call me and I said, ‘When you’ve embraced it, you’ll be amazed how much you are going to love it.”

Louis is expecting his first child with stylist Briana Jungwirth in early 2016.

56-year old Simon added that he told Louis that having a child “will change your life for the better.”

He did admit that when he and Lauren Silverman first welcome their son into the world, he didn’t adjust as quickly as he would have liked.

“When he was about 5 or 6 [months old], I was like … I just don’t know what to do! Because he wasn’t reacting to me and I thought, ‘Maybe he hates me.’ ”

He explained that someone told him he needed to have more patience, and eventually it just clicked for him:

“Suddenly one day they are talking, listening, responding … communicating. It’s a whole different ball game.”

He did confess that he is not sure if Eric taking on all of his dad’s personality traits is such a “good thing” but his taste in music makes up for any of those worries.

“One of the first records I got on tape of him playing along to was a One Direction record, so he’s got good taste.”

Hundreds of young fans were left devastated tonight after One Direction cancelled their first Belfast concert at the last minute.

The group were due to perform at the SSE Arena this evening after three sold-out nights at Dublin's 3Arena, but had to pull out just minutes beforehand.

Support act Jamie Lawson had just finished playing when the announcement was made around 9pm.

"Unfortunately One Direction have had to cancel tonight's concert in Belfast," a statement from Aiken Promotions read.

"Liam has been taken suddenly ill, and the concert will sadly not be taking place."

Niall, Harry and Louis all took to social media tonight to apologise to fans for the unforeseen cancellation:

There is no news yet on whether Wednesday and Thursday's gigs will go ahead.

For now, tonight's attendees have been asked to "hold on to their tickets" with a further statement due tomorrow.

One concertgoer, father Michael Green, said he was "disgusted" at the way fans had been treated.

He told BBC that he and his six-year-old daughter had to walk past "hundreds and hundreds" of weeping women and children to exit the venue.

Earlier this year the fans of One Direction were left speechless over the news that Louis Tomlinson was going to become a dad.

It took weeks of silence and speculation before his band mates would even address the rumours. Liam Payne then confirmed the news during a radio interview.

Not too long after Louis himself commented on the news that he and stylist Briana Jungwirth were going to become parents.

This week the band are continuing the UK leg of their world tour in Scotland.

Niall and Louis sat down with STV Glasgow for a quick chat. Naturally, when talking about the future of the band, Louis’s impending fatherhood came up.

After being asked if he’s looking forward to being able to spend time with him/her, Louis explained: "I am, yeah. I'm very excited, yeah. Yeah, it's gonna be really nice.”

We’re not entirely sure what else we were expecting him to say, but this definitely made us cringe just a little bit.

Louis has been keeping very quiet about Briana’s pregnancy since the news broke. Indeed fans were left practically begging for more news when they made a televised appearance in the US after the news broke.

When asked by Good Morning America host Michael Strahan how he felt about becoming a dad, Louis kept it short and sweet:

“Obviously it's a very exciting time. So, eh, I'm buzzing."

We can’t blame him for trying to keep his personal private to be fair, considering the pregnancy news threw the 1D fans into a complete meltdown in the first place. They are also some of the first people to take to social media with any potential appearances of Briana.

After spending a reclusive few months in Los Angeles, Briana Jungwirth is spreading her wings.

The 23-year-old, who is expecting a baby with One Direction's Louis Tomlinson in early 2016, was spotted by eagle eyed fans in London last night.

California native Briana was up front at One Direction's O2 gig, the first of six at the massive music venue. Although she was well hidden in the VIP area, keen concert-goers still managed to take a few sneaky photos:

And if the snaps are anything to go by, Briana's bump is getting bigger by the day.

The stylist, who had a brief fling with Louis back in May, hid from the media for weeks after the pregnancy announcement, staying in an LA hotel paid for by Louis's management team.

However she was spotted out and about with her mum a couple of months back in her hometown of Oxnard, California. The pair hit their local civic offices to collect a passport application form – perhaps for Briana's trip to London?

Despite Briana's front row presence at the 1D gig, she and Louis seem to be just good friends for now, having grown closer since May's news.

And while he has been staying quiet about the pregnancy so far, Louis did admit in a recent interview that he was "excited" and "buzzing" to become a dad

Having a fractured foot sure didn't stop Niall Horan from partying it up in Las Vegas over the weekend!

The 22-year-old celebrated his birthday with BFF Louis Tomlinson at XS nightclub in Sin City, where they were joined by bikini-wearing dancers and a handful of famous faces.

The bandmates, now named Nouis by fans, were pictured enjoying vodka and sipping on champagne throughout the night as they watched Diplo's performance.

One Direction fans nabbed videos and photos of Nouis during the night, with Niall often waving to fans as he passed by.

They even shared a photo with Enrique Igesias and Lil Jon.

The pair called it a night at around 5am, heading back to the Wynn Hotel in tinted-window cars.

On Saturday night, Niall began to sing Taylor Swift's 22 to a crowd in Boston, before admitted "I don't know the words."

The news broke back in July: Louis Tomlinson was expecting his first child.

The mother-to-be is 23-year-old LA-based stylist Briana Jungwirth – and although the duo are no longer in a relationship, both were said to be overjoyed as the prospect of impending parenthood.

Still, since the pregnancy was made public, countless fans have argued that the whole thing is entirely FAKE – construed to cover-up Louis's relationship with bandmate Harry Styles.

And while One Direction must have to take daily gossip in their stride – it seems this particular rumour has proved rather more unsettling.

In fact, Liam Payne has now publicly spoken of his anger relating to the matter.

“He’s very happy about becoming a dad.

"But the funny thing is, there are some people out there who think that Louis getting Briana pregnant is fake,” the One Directioner acknowledged to Attitude magazine during a recent interview.

"And that’s the sort of sh** that gets to me.

"But you have to hold your tongue and that’s fine. I mean, it’s not really any of my business anyway.”

The baby will arrive early next year, and Louis is said to be looking for houses in the Kardashian-approved neighbourhood of Calabasas, where Briana's family live.

Although Louis and Briana were never officially a couple, they did enjoy several dates in May, just weeks after the singer broke up with his girlfriend of four years, Eleanor Calder.

One Direction member Louis found himself at the centre of the media circus this summer when it was revealed that he is going to be a dad.

However, he may have just found himself upstaged and not by his own child, although we don’t doubt that could eventually happen. This time it’s his sister who has caught everyone’s attention.

Charlotte ‘Lottie’ Tomlinson turned 17 last month and has spent much of the last year on tour with her brother’s band. Working as an assistant to the boys’ hair and make-up team, it looks like all that practice is paying off.

In the last week, the beauty obsessed teenager has started her own YouTube channel and is posting video tutorials. So far she has two. One of them is achieve a ‘Mermaid Lip’ look while the other is for ‘Glitter Lips’.

While her YouTube fans continue to grow in numbers, her Instagram account has already amassed over 1.5 million followers.

Not surprising seeing as she’s been learning from hair and makeup guru to 1D Lou Teasdale and has had plenty of opportunity to get practice in. A video her doing Sophia Smith’s makeup generated some buzz a while back. Liam Payne's girlfriend uploaded the video to her own channel for the public to see.  So it’s no surprise she’s decided to take the leap and start her own channel.

Never one to turn down the opportunity for a good selfie, Lottie is also no stranger to the negative side of fame either.

Last month she faced serious backlash after a video emerged of her rapping a song that contained a racial slur. One Direction fans were quick to defend her, but much controversy surrounded the video and Lottie.

Poor Niall Horan.

The boy band star admitted that he is 'the worst popstar that ever walked the planet', all because he doesn't like to do daring things.

Speaking to Top of the Pops magazine, the Mullingar native said, ''I'm not very daring, I'm all about a gentle game of golf. I'm actually quite boring and probably the worst pop star that ever walked the planet.''

Niall, who will be going on an extended hiatus with the rest of the boyband next year revealed that he really won't be getting up to anything wild while the band are on a break.

Harry Styles also said in the magazine that he is equally as boring.

''I'm really not adventurous. Sitting down with a cup of tea is what gets my heart pounding.''

That's real rockstar behaviour lads!

In contrast, Liam and Louis are the daredevils of One Direction when they admitted they like to try new and exciting things.

Liam said, ''I like to think I'm a bit of a daredevil at heart – Louis and I jumped off a tower in Las Vegas, it was really scary.''

Whatever floats your boat!

Andrew Hozier Byrne has finally given us an insight into who he likes to hang out with in his spare time and we want to join the crew.

The singer posted a picture on Twitter yesterday in which he is partying with One Direction members Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan and one of our favourite people, Ed Sheeran.

This group of lads look like they are having some serious craic as they pose in the photo booth with drinks in hand and Hozier said: "I had to hang this on a fridge. I had to. Fun times."

The Bray singer recently announced that he might be taking a break from music for a while.

While on BBC's radio's Good Morning show, he explained that a hiatus may be on the cards, the same week One Direction announce the same thing.

“It’ll be nearly two years on the road at that stage, and I’d loved to take a break and think about the next album,” he said

Hozier, who has become extremely successful in just two short years, has been touring the world non-stop since he gained success with Take Me To Church.

The singer was also nominated for two MTV VMAs last night for Take Me To Church which was up for Best Rock Video and Best Direction.

Niall Horan sure knows how to clear up rumours!

Hours after it was announced that One Direction will be taking an extended hiatus to focus on individual projects, Niall took to Twitter yesterday to clarify some inaccurate news that has been floating around the internet.

In his Twitter message he wrote, "Ok so lots of rumours going around. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year".

"Don't worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve!".

In another tweet he continued to say, "Can't wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform some new songs as the tour continues! Love you all xx".

Shortly after Niall's tweets, band-mate Louis Tomlinson spoke out about the speculation.

"Your support is truly indescribable! It's just a break… we're not going anywhere!! Promise".

The groups "well earned break" won't begin until March 2016.

A source assured E! News over the weekend that their are no problems with the group and instead are simply exploring new opportunities that are coming from their already-successful careers.

"They are great friends and fully support one another".

"They are aware that they are able to work on their own stuff as well as remain together. This is an exciting time for them creatively and as a group".

The source added, "They envision a future together but with the freedom to do other things as well".
