Irishman Louis Walsh definitely rocked the X Factor boat this morning when he called out his former co-star Cheryl Fernandez-Versini as "lazy" and "irrelevant," but she's already getting her own back.

Louis reportedly opened up to Heat magazine about his fellow judge, saying, "Cheryl wasn’t great last year. She’s sometimes lazy and lacks energy… She needs to give more, she can give so much move. She’s irrelevant these days."

Ouch.

Not one to take criticism lying down, Cheryl has already headed to Twitter to share her true feelings for Louis, posting a series of tweets just now in an attempt to clear things up:

"I am beginning to wonder if Louis has some kind of an obsession with me," she wrote.

"I mean this is every year whether I am or am not a part of the show…and btw… This is the same man asking me what he should say to contestants on our way to the stage bc 'he doesn't know.'"

Finishing up, Cheryl added, "Dear Lou Lou. Try using your mouth to say something positive abt something positive."

The public spat comes just one week after it was confirmed Louis would not be returning to this year's X Factor, though Cheryl's seat is still safe for the moment.

Dermot O'Leary, Mel B and Xtra Factor presenter Sarah-Jane Crawford have also been axed from the upcoming series.

It's going to be a very different show this year, that's for sure.

Uh-oh: after months of rumour, it's being reported that Louis Walsh has officially been axed from The X Factor.

The pop-music manager has been a judge on the show for an incredible 11 years – but it seems that Simon Cowell has now wielded the axe, telling Louis in person that there's no room for him in this year's line-up.

A source told today's Sun On Sunday: "They are close friends so Simon wanted to do this the right way."

With falling viewing figures and critics calling the show past its prime, Mr Cowell is under pressure to seriously shake up the format for 2015.

A second source added in The Sun that audiences had become "sick of Louis's constant use of tired cliches and the same old jokes".

Mel B's contract will also not be renewed, but Cheryl Fernandez Versini has already signed a multi-million euro deal to return.

Still, it is unlikely that Louis, 62, was shocked by the recent revelation. Last month he told Lucy Kennedy and Martin King on TV3's The Seven O'Clock show: "I’m done with X Factor, honestly.

"I've done 11 seasons and that's a long time in television – I don't think I'll be going back."

Louis is currently managing Hometown. The six-piece boyband has enjoyed two No.1 hits in the Irish charts.

It seems like all of the One Direction members are trying to spice up their careers a bit lately, first Zayn leaves, then Niall caddies for Rory McIlroy, and now it looks like Louis Tomlinson is a favourite to replace Louis Walsh on The X Factor judging panel.

Louis Walsh has recently said “I think I’m done with X Factor. I’ve done 11 seasons.

One Direction member Louis is the favourite to become the new judge if Louis Walsh leaves the judging panel, while Robbie Williams is also on the cards.

Zayn Malik is also an option because he is now free after leaving One Direction but it looks like Louis is a lot more likely to claim the spot.

Eighties music star and X Factor regular Sinitta has described the possibility of Louis joining the show as “amazing.”

“He spent a lot of time with us last year, mentoring the talent and watching rehearsals. I could definitely see him going into music management and production so it’s a good place to start,” she said.

This would definitely be a big change for the star and the show but we have no doubt that Louis would be a great judge and mentor.

Rumours have been rife that Simon Cowell may be planning a bit of a shakeup on The X Factor, and it looks like we already know one person who won’t be returning for the next season – Louis Walsh.

Louis dropped the bombshell during an interview with TV3, in which he said he is ‘done’ with the show.

“I think I’m done with X Factor honestly. My day job is as a manager, I’ve kind of neglected that. I want to get back to being a manager,” said the 62-year-old.

Admitting that he “never wanted to be on TV”, Louis added that he is looking forward to concentrating on future projects with two of his acts, Shane Filan and boyband Hometown.

Louis appeared to hint that his absence won’t be the only change to the judging panel, saying: “I think they’re going to change it, go for a few new faces.”

Hmm, we wonder if he knows more than he’s letting on.

Recently, we reported that none other than One Direction star Louis Tomlinson was rumoured to be on the list of potential new judges – could he already be lined up to fill Louis place?

X Factor producers have revealed there is a big shake-up on the way for the next series of the show, in a bid to boost ratings.

The official judging panel line-up will not be announced until May but at the moment only Simon Cowell has been confirmed as safe.

"There will be some exciting changes. The name of the show will stay the same but we are looking at format and the judges. There will be some surprises this year. But I can’t go into detail," said X Factor executive producer Richard Holloway in an interview with The Mirror.

Speaking about the new plans, Richard said it was definitely time for a change. "We have been making the show for 10 years and to make it popular you have to refresh the show." However he admitted Simon would not be turned away from the panel, adding, "It is safe to say Simon is staying."

Given that Simon's production company Syco was the brains behind the show, we reckon he wouldn't be too happy to be kicked out!

Richard says that X Factor bosses would "love to beat" Strictly Come Dancing once again when it comes to viewer numbers. "There is an ongoing battle with Strictly," he revealed. "On overall volume they beat us last year. It has been a few years since we beat them on overall volume. It is quite interesting the split of the audience. It is very defined."

So with Simon confirmed, what about Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh?

Mel B's last few weeks as a judge on the 2014 series of the show were full of drama as she had to miss the live semi-final for a mystery trip to hospital, amid reports she had left her husband Stephen Belafonte.

"It could be the case that Mel, Cheryl and Louis all don’t return but it’s still early days in discussions to say for certain and too soon to speculate," said Richard.

Hmmm… guess we'll have to wait until May for the big reveal.

Last year’s X Factor finalist, Nicholas McDonald has admitted that he was disappointed in his mentor, Louis Walsh. The young singer was speaking to OK! magazine when he made the surprising admission, saying: “Louis supported me and guided me the best way. He got me to where I am today. But when we got to the final and he asked everyone to vote for Sam, I was thinking ‘Isn’t he meant to be my mentor?’”

Always a sweetie however, Nicholas also professed his love for last year’s winner, saying: “I was a bit disheartened but Sam Bailey is phenomenal. She’s like Celine Dion, she’s crazy amazing.”

Aww, what a cutie, we’re sure it was a shock for him to hear Louis tell people to vote for another act.

Louis doesn't have an act in this year's final following the elimination of Stereo Kicks, but seems to be backing Fleur East to win the competition.

Fleur wowed judges and audiences last weekend with her amazing rendition of Mark Ronson's Uptown Funk which shot straight to number one in the iTunes charts shortly afterwards.

They were once one of the most popular boyband in Ireland and England, but now it seems even their own former manager has given up on them.

In a rather uncalled for tirade against Boyzone, Louis Walsh has said it is time for the lads to go.

Talking to the Irish Mirror, the X Factor judge said: “They are a bit beyond it now – it’s time to go. Motown? I mean to do Motown you have to be amazing singers and I don’t know whose idea that was but it was the worst idea in the world, it really was. Boyzone can’t do Motown, the next thing they will be doing Irish republican songs. It’s time to go out with a little bit of dignity.”

Um, ouch! Louis didn’t hold back in his thoughts on Boyzone’s return, did he?! We can’t help but think it won’t be long before Ronan Keating is hitting back at his cruel words!

Ireland seemed impressed by the lads’ performance on last night’s Cheerios Childline Concert, so perhaps there may be a market for their Motown album after all!

And who knows, perhaps they'll take on the Wolfe Tones after that! Louis may be eating his words in the years to come…

Poor Louis Walsh always seems to have Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole ganging up on him – and last night just about proves it!

When Louis’ band, Stereo Kicks came out to perform, the judge was accused by Simon and the other judges of not knowing their names.

Striving to prove the others wrong, Louis begins to list the lads by name – only to be caught out with a piece of paper with their names on it!

Oh Louis…he certainly doesn't do himself any favours!

To make matters even MORE awkward, Simon then demanded he give him the piece of paper and even got up off his seat, walked over, wrestled it off poor mortified Louis and showed it to the camera.

Thankfully, Dermot O’Leary intervened before Simon forced Louis to read out the names without a helping hand…

However, all things aside, we LOVED the boys performance – they killed Big Bands Week! Here they are in action:

We sure hope some of the more cringe bits of the show are scripted.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini had something of a temper tantrum on last night’s X Factor as she came to blows with Simon Cowell.

The singer critiqued Simon’s act Jay James and his rendition of Adele’s Skyfall, saying she didn’t “feel” it.

When Simon retaliated saying it’s not an acting competition, Cheryl did not take it too kindly and it all got a bit awkward…

Dermot O'Leary tried to smooth things over, apologising to Jay about Cheryl and Simon's fighting, saying: "Sorry you have to hear the grown-ups rowing like that."

Things got even weirder later in the show when Cheryl demanded Louis Walsh swap seats with her.

Later on, the Girls Aloud star shared a photo on Instagram of Simon with his hands around her nek, looking very happy indeed!

We know that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Louis Walsh aren’t exactly the best of friends, and their catty feud has taken another embarrassing twist ahead of this weekend’s live shows.

Cheryl, who hasn’t gone to great lengths to hide her dislike of Louis (although the feeling is definitely mutual), has revealed that she thinks Louis is going deaf and needs to get a hearing aid.

During an interview this week, the singer said: “We went through stages where people would say: ‘My name is Ben’, and he would be like: ‘Ken?’ And we would be like, ‘BEN!’”

She added: “We have told him he needs a hearing aid but I don’t think it went down very well.”

Yes, we can imagine that Louis wouldn’t have been too pleased at her suggestion.

Never one to take a jibe lying down though, Louis hit back at his co-star, insulting her music yet again.

Louis responded to Cheryl’s comments in the Sun, saying: “Maybe that’s from listening to her records! Anything she can say, I can hit back twice as hard.”

And just in case Cheryl thought she was getting away lightly, the music mogul added that he would be only too pleased to see her perform her latest single live on the show, saying: “I hope she sings live. I’m sure she can.”

Thank heavens for Mel B being there to separate these two tonight!

We’re never short of drama with The X Factor, are we?

Forget contestant controversy, the judges are at each other’s throats now!

It all started with the first of the live shows last weekend, in which poor old Louis Walsh lost not one, but two of his acts.

The whole incident has left a very bitter taste in the Irish music mogul’s mouth, and he’s decided to unleash his fury on Simon Cowell, accusing him of bullying.

Slamming Simon for his harsh comments against Louis’ acts, the judge said: “I’m always the fall guy on the show. I think it’s my job. It would probably be perceived as bullying if you do it to girls. It’s ok to do it to me.”

Louis wasn’t finished there, though. Venting his fury over Simon’s criticism, he said: “He does what he wants. But when it’s so public on the show I gasp. I never know what he will say.”

Louis’ devastation at losing bands Blonde Electra and Overload Generation in just the first instalment of the live shows was painfully evident, and we can totally understand why.

We wonder what Simon will have to say about Louis’ latest comments!

Shane Filan’s autobiography My Side of Life is revealing a LOT of juicy celeb secrets – like that time he got slapped in the face by Louis Walsh!

Shane and the rest of the Westlife lads were auditioning for Simon Cowell but Shane had been out the night before with then-girlfriend (now his wife) Gillian and was feeling a little worse for wear.

After a rather disastrous rendition of a Backstreet Boys’ song, Louis stormed up to Shane, slapped him and said: “What the fu** was that, Shane?! … It was sh**! He didn’t like you!”

It would appear that unlike Louis, Simon didn’t think Shane looked, acted or sang like a pop star…but Louis solved all of that.

Dying his hair blonde, Shane went for another audition, this time impressing the music mogul and signing Westlife to Syco.
