Star makes shocking claims against ex in candid interview
She has never been known as one to hold back when it comes to sharing her views, so we're not surprised to hear that singer M.I.A took a few swipes in her latest interview, for Rolling Stone magazine.
We are, however, pretty shocked by what she has to say about her DJ ex, Diplo who, according to the Paper Planes singer, was insanely jealous of her success.
Asked about the early milestones in her career, the 39-year-old – who dated Diplo on and off for five years – said that he "sh*t on every good thing that was happening" for her.
"I just didn't enjoy it because if I was on the cover of a magazine, he'll be like, 'What do you want to do, like, be on the dentist waiting room table? Like, is that what a magazine is for? It's corny. Like, don't do magazines,'" she recalled.
She also recounted a terrifying incident where Diplo, real name Thomas Wesley Pentz, smashed up her hotel room out of rage after she got signed by a major label.
"When I got signed by Interscope, he literally smashed my hotel room and broke all the furniture because he was so angry I got picked up by a major label, and it was the corniest thing in the world that could possibly happen…So the whole two years I was with him, I just let him dictate," she added.
She says that it is only now that she realises it was jealousy that was driving her ex on.
"He couldn't wait to be Taylor Swift's best friend and date Katy Perry. But at that time I believed him. I just felt like he was right, and he was something of a political, righteous person with some values. I didn't realize it was just jealousy," she said.
Wow, that is quite the revelation. While the pair have always insisted that they are good friends, we reckon Diplo may not be too happy to learn that the truth is now out there.
