Remember when Vanity Fair writer, Rich Cohen, recently offered an assessment of Margot Robbie and her native country, and managed to insult millions of people in the process?

Well, while members of the Australian public took to Twitter in their droves to slam both the writer and the article which contained a scathing assessment of the land down under as well as one its most-respected actresses, Margot kept schtum.

And while one might hope she did so in order to take the high road, it was actually because despite the clearly derogatory nature of the piece, Margot was unfazed as she had, in fact, read much worse.

Rich went to great lengths to subtly deride the star, writing "She is 26 and beautiful, not in that otherworldly, catwalk way but in a minor knock-around key, a blue mood, a slow dance."

She is tall but only with the help of certain shoes. She can be sexy and composed even while naked but only in character."

And yet, Margot simply deemed her encounter with Rich as 'odd' and expressed her surprise over the controversy which followed the publication of the piece.

Speaking to The Project, she said: "I remember doing the interview and being like, ‘That was an odd one."

“Then I read it and I was like, ‘Yeah, the tone of this is really weird, I don’t really know what he’s trying to get at or play at," she continued. "But I didn’t expect it’d be like an uproar about it, at all."

"But I’ve read far more offensive, far more sexist, insulting, derogatory, disgusting things on a daily basis," she admitted. "Maybe I’m desensitised to it now."

If that's the case, it's a seriously sad state of affairs.

OK, we may not have her looks, her life or even her swimming togs, but when it comes to her ability to take the p*ss out of herself, we think we might actually be on the same page as Margot Robbie.

Unlike many celebrities who constantly lament their lack of privacy, Margot played the paparazzi at their own game by posting a secret shot they got of her falling off a surfboard earlier this week.

While still looking incredible, the angle wasn't one we're used to seeing Margot from – a feature of the photo which she addressed on Instagram.

Sharing the snap with followers yesterday, the Wolf of Wall Street star, wrote: "Photo cred to the creepy pap hiding in the bushes."

"Thanks for always catching me at my best angles #blessed," she added in a post which has clocked up a staggering 306,000 likes since its upload.

Unsurprisingly, Margot's post endeared her to the public even more (how is that even possible though?), and social media users rushed to give props for her 'couldn't care less' attitude.

"This is why I love Margot Robbie," wrote one while another gushed: "This is the photo that convinced me to follow you @margotrobbie. Falling with style."

After her Harry Potter revelation, we didn't think we could love her any more…

Our favourite Aussie actress, Margot Robbie, has confessed to being a super-fan of our very own Hozier.

The Wolf of Wall Street star spoke to RTÉ TEN recently, where she explained how excited she was at the news of Hozier's involvement in the Tarzan project.

Hozier signed on to write the theme song for Margot's latest movie The Legend of Tarzan, and she has referred to the Greystones man as "the nicest guy in the whole world".

"When I heard Hozier was doing the song for this I could have died. I am a massive fan of him," the actress said.

“Funnily enough, it was when we were shooting Tarzan in 2014 that I was absolutely obsessed with his album for the first time."

Margot's Tarzan co-star, and total HUNK, Alexander Skarsgard, said that she used to play Hozier's album on set during filming.

How cute is that?

The Legend of Tarzan is in cinemas now, and it is ABSOLUTELY brilliant!

Remember that time you did a day's work and managed to insult an entire nation in the process? Yeah, us neither, but that's because we're not Rich Cohen of Vanity Fair fame.

The writer, who recently penned a piece on Aussie actress Margot Robbie, has managed in just few words to insult the Australian public, and also give a frankly bizarre assessment of both Margot's appearance and prowess on screen.

And, unsurprisingly, people are absolutely fuming.

Responding to Rich's description of Australia where he writes Australia is 'America 50 years ago, sunny and slow, a throwback, which is why you go there for throwback people', social media users have taken to Twitter in their droves to pour scorn on Rich's assessment of the land Down Under.

"Clearly written by a man who knows NOTHING about Australia," wrote one. "It's full of things about the country that simply aren't true."

And it wasn't only Rich's description of Margot's native country that riled people, but his sexist assessment of the Wolf of Wall Street actress, writing: "She is 26 and beautiful, not in that otherworldly, catwalk way but in a minor knock-around key, a blue mood, a slow dance."

Fearful the wider public might have been fooled by Margot's hair dye and high heels, Rich hastily added: "She is blonde but dark at the roots. She is tall but only with the help of certain shoes." Thanks for that, Rich.

Drawing attention to the approach Rich took with the piece, another Twitter user wrote: "The quietly awful thing the Vanity Fair piece did is steer the conversation away from Margot Robbie's talent, which is what matters."

Twitter users have slammed the American publication for allowing the piece to go to print, but thus far neither Rich nor the magazine have responded to the controversy.

It's not uncommon for actresses and actors to change their appearance for a role.

Some are asked to lose weight, some are asked to gain it. But when Margot Robbie was asked to lose a few pounds just for the sake of it, she knew it was a bad choice and refused to do it.

The Focus star plays the role of Jane in the upcoming remake of Tarzan, and told Australia's TV Week that she didn't want to "look thin" for no reason.

"It's the 19th century [in the film] – if she's got a bit of weight on her, it's probably a good thing.

"I'm not going to look thin just for the sake of it." she said.

However, she also had another excuse to not stay on a super-strict Hollywood diet: "It was my first time living in London properly and I wanted to try every pub."

Ah, a girl after our own hearts.

Margot Robbie is an absolute stunner, and – we'll be honest here – we might even hate her if she wasn't so damn sound.

And yet in spite of her head-turning Hollywood looks, poor ol' Margot didn't escape puberty without going through that same uber-awkward phase most of us endured.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, the Wolf of Wall Street actress was forced to take a trip down memory lane, and we gotta say, it's absolutely made our day.

A self-confessed Harry Potter fanatic, Margot gushed over the fact her current director, David Yates, had directed a number of the Hogwarts movies.

Clearly unaware she had walked directly into Jimmy's trap, Margot was forced to recall her less – shall we say – 'polished' days.

With the cheesy grin we all produced when snapped out of nowhere as a teen, Margot looked bloody delighted to be getting her chill on with Harry and the gang, and it's made us love her all the more.

Oh, and the fact she wore glasses when she didn't even NEED them? Margot, take a bow.

Speed up to 1.31 for the golden moment…

From the trials and tribulations of Ramsay Street to playing the wife of corrupt stockbroker, Jordan Belfort, former Neighbours star Margot Robbie has come a long way in six years. In fact, we reckon 2016 is going to be her biggest year yet.

With three major movies to be released in the next few months alone and the announcement today that she is set to portray disgraced Olympian Tonya Harding in a new biopic, the future is all sunny skies for the Aussie beauty.

Here’s just a few reasons everyone will be talking about Margot Robbie this year…

She’s starring alongside one of comedy’s biggest names
From the 22nd of April you can see Robbie in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot with Tina Fey. The pair play two journalists sent to Afghanistan to report on the war.

She’ll be heading to the jungle, too
Tarzan, meet Jane… or should we say ‘meet Margot.’ Heading into the summer months you’ll catch Margot swinging from vines in The Legend of Tarzan alongside (her one-time rumoured fling) Alexander Skarsgard.

She’s trying her hand at some bad-ass comic book action
Possibly the most re-created Halloween costume from last year, Harley Quinn will come to life in this year’s Suicide Squad. And who plays the black-and-red bad girl? Yup, you’ve guessed it…

She’s just scored a MAJOR film role in I, Tonya
Margot’s latest casting, in the biopic of disgraced Olympian Tonya Harding, marks the first time Robbie will play the lead in a major motion picture. Harding had an incredibly tough rise to fame in the figure-skating world, before later being charged and imprisoned for her ties to the attacks on her rival Nancy Kerrigan. A very meaty role for the young actress and one that is already gathering a lot of interest.

Oh, and she KILLED it on the Oscars red carpet this year
The Aussie topped all of the best dressed lists at this year’s Academy Awards in shimmering gold custom Tom Ford. WIN.

We all know him as the party prince, who was never shy of having a good time or going crazy on a night out.

What photographers, right Harry?

But it seems he's still up to his wildchild ways as photos have surfaced of him at a vodka launch with Cara Delevingne. Sienna Miller, Margot Robbie and a whole bunch of other blonde beauties.

Taken in a photobooth at the launch of Ciroc vodka, Harry is seen messing about with the girls, wearing bright green glasses and a cap.

The launch, hosted by model Suki Waterhouse, was before Christmas, so they were all clearly in the party mood.

By the looks of things, Harry certainly had a good time, we're just hoping there's more pictures to come!

In what will probably be one of the best movies this year, Warner Bros and DC Comics have released the second official trailer for Suicide Squad.

The first one debuted at the San Diego Comic Con last July, and now six months later, we get a sneak peak to what the story, and the characters are all about.

Prepare for some bad-ass acting by Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Cara Delevinge, as this is one movie that is not to be missed.

Sooo… Should we buy are tickets already?

As we enter into the age when our beloved animated Disney classics are being made into live action films, we feel like we are sort of re-living our youth.

With the release of Cinderella this year and the announcement that the more than capable Emma Watson will be taking the helm as Belle in Beauty & the Beast, we almost forgot that there is a live action film of Tarzan being made.

But now that we have seen the pics, we won't be forgetting again.

Alexander Skarsgard was definitely an interesting casting choice for the loin-cloth wearing, long-haired, tree-swinging hero of the jungle.

But any doubts we may have been harbouring are officially non existent.

Oh and in case you didn't know, the film also features Margot Robbie as Jane.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Skarsgard revealed that the plot will not be identical to the 1999 animated original.

"It’s almost the opposite of the classic tale, where it’s about taming the beast.

"This is about a man who’s holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out."

We will take one front row ticket please!

We've all fallen victim to the odd beauty blunder (hello old school photos).

But if it makes you feel any better – so have some of our biggest celebrities.

Major female stars like Jennifer Aniston, Lauren Conrad and Olivia Wilde spoke to InStyle magazine and shared their worst beauty fails of all time.

Olivia Wilde

“When I was 5, after watching my dad shave, I took his razor and shaved my face—including my eyebrows. You look like an alien without eyebrows,” she told the magazine. “Then, in my mid-teens, I plucked them to create that sexy Kate Moss arch. I regret it because I damaged my follicles, and now it's hard for me to grow thick, bushy brows.”

Jennifer Aniston

"I can't even call it a risk, it was just bad judgement! We used to shave our heads just right above the ear, and now I'm like, why did I do that?"

Margot Robbie

"I got a short crop and everyone at school actually thought I was a boy," she told the magazine. "That was traumatic. I never forgave my mum for that. I am scarred by those memories!"

Lauren Conrad

“I thought you were supposed to match your eyeshadow to your clothes, and I was just sort of playing around and figured it out along the way.”

Vanessa Hudgens

"I went through a stage where I had burgundy hair, which was frightening, and I had light brown hair with light blond highlights. It looked so bad! My friend said it looked like I'd dipped my hair in ashes."
