Her director, Spike Jonze has praised Scarlett Johansson’s performance as Samantha, the intelligent computer operating system with personality and emotions.
The movie was Jonze’s screenwriting debut and is now up for five Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.
Speaking about Johansson’s acting through just her voice, Jonze only had the best to say: “Scarlett is not afraid of revealing her pain and emotions. She’s attractive, but she’s also smart as hell. She’s is some renaissance age, where she is pushing herself to new places. She wants to go deeper and is taking risks”.
Her also stars Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams.
Well wonder no more!
While promoting her new movie, A Most Wanted Man, at the Sundance Film Festival, the actress revealed her favourite quote from the cult film is … “Is butter a carb?” Yay!
Here are some more classics from the film that we love:
Ellie announced the news on her Instagram account last night, much to the delight of her own fans as well as fans of the Divergent book series.
What’s more, it seems it won’t just be one song Ellie contributes; her voice will actually be present throughout the film.
Writing on Instagram, she said: “Excited for you to hear the new song “Beating Heart” and my wee voice throughout the film :)”.
Ellie isn’t the only big UK star to lend their singing voices to Hollywood movies; Ed Sheeran also recently penned “I See Fire” for the The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
Divergent is due out this year and will star rising star Shailene Woodley as well as Kate Winslet and Theo James.
Vanessa Hudgens has spoken about her weight gain for her role as Apple in new movie Gimme Shelter. Gaining over a stone to play the role, Vanessa described how she was uncomfortable with her figure.
Vanessa is often seen attending pilates classes and is known to enjoy reformer pilates.
The role as Apple had a profound effect on Vanessa as she described to The View how she fully immersed herself into the role, perhaps a bit too much, “All I saw in the mirror was this character … I didn’t feel comfortable in this body cause I gained all the weight”.
Have a look at her amazing transformation:
This is one angry director.
Following the leak of his script for The Hateful Eight, which was expected to be his next big movie, Tarantino is absolutely livid and has dropped the movie completely.
Saying that he will instead publish the screenplay, Tarantino wants to find out who is responsible for the appearance of the script online and has launched his own investigation: “I gave it to three motherf**king actors. We met in a place and I put it in their hands. It’s got to be either the agents of Dern or Madsen. Please name names”.
The actors named by Tarantino are James Madsen and Bruce Dern, who is nominated for a 2014 Best Actor Academy Award . The director also said that the script was give to Tim Roth, but he has been ruled out as the source of the leak.
The director’s anger at the betrayal was palpable as he explained he would not make The Hateful Eight his next production: “I give it out to six people, and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I’ll publish it. I’m done. I’ll move on to the next thing. I’ve got 10 more where that came from.”
Tarantino is one of Hollywood’s favourite directors, having worked on Django Unchained, Pulp Fiction and True Romance to name a few.
Jonah Hill has said that he so desperately wanted to work with director Martin Scorsese that he accepted the minimum wage of $60,000 allowed to an actor by the Screen Actors Guild to star as stockbroker Donnie Azoft in The Wolf of Wall Street.
He was also very eager to sign his contract for the role because he was worried they would change their minds and choose someone else…aww.
Since the role won him his second Oscar nomination, we’re betting it’s a decision he doesn’t regret. Jonah was previously nominated for his role in Moneyball in 2012.
The actor, speaking on The Howard Stern Show yesterday, also voiced his surprise at being nominated for Best Supporting Actor in The Wolf of Wall Street, “I am in compete and total shock … I honestly was not expecting this, on a level you can’t even imagine”.
The premiere for Vanessa Hudgens’ upcoming movie Gimme Shelter was held in LA last night.
The actress stars as Apple, a pregnant teen who runs away from her drug addict mother (Rosario Dawson), is rejected by her father (Brendan Fraser) and finds herself on the streets.
Vanessa is a far cry from her regular style in the movie, following a dramatic haircut and weight gain for the role. Judging from the stunning photos of her at the premiere last night it didn’t take her long to regain her post-Gimme Shelter look.
The director and writer of the movie is Ronald Krauss, who actually spent time in a shelter for pregnant teens in preparation for the movie.
Watch the trailer above to witness Vanessa’s dramatic transformation into troubled teen Apple.
She’s a long way from her High School Musical days.
Our very own Michael Fassbender has been nominated for a BAFTA award for Supporting Actor for his powerful portrayal of cruel slave owner Edwin Epps in one of the year’s biggest movies, 12 Years a Slave.
This is far from the only nomination for the movie however; Chiwetel Ejiofor has been nominated for a Leading Actor BAFTA, Lupita Nyong’o is up for Supporting Actress and director Steve McQueen is also up for a nomination.
The dashing Kerry native will go up against strong competitors for the award including Bradley Cooper and Matt Damon.
Nigella hasn’t had much luck lately, but if news of a new movie is anything to go by, things may be looking up.
According to reports, the 54-year-old’s life may be turned into a movie, with Angelina Jolie as frontrunner for the lead role.
“Angie had planned to take a lot of time off next year but this role is very tempting. She has been gripped like everyone else by all the drama surrounding Nigella these past few months and thinks she is a remarkable woman.”
The last few months have been chaotic for the domestic goddess and shocking to fans, so the film would make for some interesting viewing.
The British TV chef split from her husband, Charles Saatchi, at the end of last year after he was photographed with his hand around her neck. After that story broke, she then then had to deal with rumours of drugs and abuse. Most recently, the celebrity chef had to endure a trial, which saw her former assistants, Elisabetta and Francesca Grillo, accused and cleared of fraud.
If Angie does take up the role, we’re sure the movie will be big, but if not, we can’t see it being a box office hit.
