Spongebob SquarePants first aired in 1999 and we, like the rest of our generation, became immediate fans of adorable Bob, bad-tempered Squidward and the whole Bikini Bottom gang.

Following the adventures of a sponge, who lived under the sea in a two-storey pineapple and earned a wage working in a fast-food restaurant, was our favourite after-school activity.

So we just can’t WAIT for the release of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water early next year which sees SpongeBob and the crew tackle a whole new world!

3-D, you say? We are ready!

So many movie stars appear to inhabit a different planet to the rest of us, so it’s ridiculously refreshing when you encounter a celeb that seems like the type of gal you could shoot the breeze with of a Sunday afternoon while wearing week-old sweats.

Kate Winslet IS this gal.

She’s down-to-earth, she’s funny and she was around LONG before any of these other girl-next-door types showed up. *Cough* Jennifer Lawrence *cough*

Here are just a few reasons why Kate is, and always will be, our main girl.

1) She flashed Leonardo DiCaprio when they first met so that shooting a nude scene together wouldn’t be awkward.

2) She cried on Parkinson when she revealed that her husband at the time loved her latest film role.

3) She featured in US Weekly’s list of ‘Celebrities with Lack of Ego’.

4) She gleefully roared ‘Look at me now!” on a chat show after revealing she had been called ‘Blubber’ by school bullies and locked in an art cupboard.

5) She refused to slim down for her role as Rose in Titanic because she thought her curvier figure was a better representation of women’s figures in the early 1900’s.

6) Commenting on body image, she said: “As a child, I never heard one woman say to me, "I love my body". Not my mother, my elder sister, my best friend. No one woman has ever said, "I am so proud of my body." So I make sure to say it to Mia because a positive physical outlook has to start at an early age.’

7) She danced with the Honey Monster for a TV advertisement when she was eleven.

8) She was outraged when GQ airbrushed her photos for their magazine cover.

9) Commenting on her figure, she said: I look like people that walk down the street. I don't have perfect boobs, I don't have zero cellulite – of course I don't – and I'm curvy. If that is something that makes women feel empowered in any way, that's great.”

10) Talking about the detox and diets, she says: "I'm no stranger to the occasional dodgy juice, but it doesn't taste very nice and it is bloody boring. It's not a way to live."

Need we say more? Kate, come live with us.

There's no denying how much Disney films taught us as children, but have we ever stopped to consider how many things we can learn from these gems as adults?

From The Lion King to The Little Mermaid, the tracks from these films are positively teeming with life lessons and handy hints.

Take a moment to sing your favourite Disney song and emerge from your performance utterly enlightened.

Here are just five little lessons that these classic sing-a-long tracks taught us.

Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
There’s not a king or vagabond on God’s green earth that would judge you for falling in love with a sexy lion. End of.

Let It Go
Enjoying cold weather will ensure you’re immune to all of life’s trials and tribulations. So, man up, and go stand in the garden dammit.

Part of Your World
No matter how many gadgets and gizmos you have, it’s always acceptable to want more, more , MORE! Deadly, giz.

A Whole New World
If your boyfriend tells you he’s going to take you over, sideways and under on a carpet ride, get your mind out of the gutter and prepare to see some actual aerial views.

Colours of the Wind
If all you’ve painted with is a Crayola set in 3rd class, then you may as well give up. You’ve failed.

Know what we're sayin'?

Most of us would have seen the wonder that is Clueless for the first time, way back when.

We’re talking pre-teen territory here, so we were SO innocent, we were SO naïve and we were so very, very confused.

We knew we loved it, but what were they talking about? And what is that girl wearing?

Here are 12 thoughts we pondered while getting to grips with the adventures of Cher, Dionne and the crew.

Is that girl actually going to wear a top hat to school today?

What the hell is polyester hair?

Is ‘surfing the crimson wave’ what we think it is?

Woah, woah, woah. We really need that fluffy pink pen. Am i in love with that pen?

What’s a homie and how do you roll with one?

Elton just mentioned The Cranberries! I know who they are!

Why is it funny that Cher likes Billie Holiday? What’s wrong with him? Is he bad?

What does ‘tardiness' mean and why is Travis giving a speech about it?

Why is Tai so surprised they have coke? Are we missing something?

What is Murray saying about Christian on the highway? He likes cake? He’s got a friend called Dorothy? Why are the girls acting like that’s a big deal? We LOVE cake!

Did Cher coordinate the colour of her chewing gum with the colour of her outfit? Just wow.

Cher has a computerised wardrobe, so why does she use a drink can instead of hair rollers?

NOW, we know so much better! We think.

Remember the hysteria back in 2008 when word got out that our beloved Sex and the City was hitting the big screen? After four long years without our four favourite women, we were going to be treated to a two hour extravaganza. Squeal!

Now, remember when Sex and the City 2 was released two years later? Yeah…

If you've blocked the sequel out, don't worry, here's a quick rundown on why they probably should have hung up their Manolos back in 2008.

SATC 1 featured a frantic Carrie skidding through cold, snowy streets on New Year’s Eve to the tender sounds of Auld Lang Syne.

SATC 2 featured the four New York women scrambling through Abu Dhabi streets, appearing continually aghast that local dress and customs were different to their Manhattan norm.

Sigh.

SATC 1 gave us a montage scene depicting some of the most divine wedding dresses we’ve ever laid eyes on. Vivienne Westwood, Dior, Vera Wang; we were in bridal heaven.

SATC 2  gave us Liza Minnelli murdering Beyonce’s Single Ladies in a pair of fishnets.

Cringe.

SATC 1 gave us the line "I curse the day you were born!"

SATC 2 gave us the line "Lawrence of my labia"

Facepalm.

SATC 1 featured the fabulous Jennifer Hudson.

SATC 2 featured the unappealingly buff Australian rugby players.

Gag.

Sex and the City 1 gave us four sassy, feisty women who finally got the happy endings they deserved while Sex and the City 2 gave us four moany, whiney women who needed to stop kissing their ex-boyfriends.

There, we said it!

If you haven't yet watched the 2005 Australian horror movie Wolf Creek, then count yourself lucky. For those of us who have seen it, the film has scarred us, haunted us, and reminded us that we should never, EVER talk to strangers.

Wolf Creek isn't your standard horror. Yes, it's tremendously gory, yes, it's frightening, but there's something else about this flick that leaves our skin crawling.

Maybe it's because it's not set in a sorority house? Maybe it's because the characters don't invite horror upon themselves with macho 'bring it on!' chants in an attempt to call the killer's bluff? Or maybe it's because the situation is so normal and the characters so relatable that we feel an extra sense of unease throughout the entire movie.

Ladies, this film is exactly why our parents would rather we went to Bundoran with them than off gallivanting around the globe with our friends.

Here are just a few reasons why this film left us oh-so-very cold.

1) The first thirty minutes or so could be an advertisement for why travel is amazing. Hell, we forgot we were watching a horror and wanted to join Ben, Kristy and Liz on their wild adventure.

2) The girls were the exact type of girls we would have gravitated towards on a trip away. Astute, fun and smart; these doomed girls were US!

3) The sudden unease that descended around the campfire was almost palpable when the three friends realised there might be more to Mick Taylor, the man who has offered to help, than meets the eye.

4) Seeing the agonising scenes from Liz's perspective as we watched her friend be subjected to untold brutality at the hands of the man they had trusted.

5) Mick Taylor's laugh will haunt our dreams for the rest of our adult life.

Never, ever again.

It’s easy to love Bill Murray the actor for his superb performances and fantastic film roles, but how easy is it to love Bill Murray, the man?  Very.

 In fact, it’s even easier.

If you don’t know much about Bill apart from his roles in Ghostbusters, Lost in Translation and The Grand Budapest Hotel, then ladies you are in for a treat.

Feast your eyes on the many reasons Bill Murray is a king among men.

He karaokes
The sixty-four year-old star rocked out with a gang of karaokers in a New York bar when one of the group invited the actor to join their private studio.  He accepted, he bought them drinks and he sang a duet with one of the group. Legend.

He fights crime
Bill accidentally helped apprehend a bank robber in Tokyo when he stopped to chat to a man on the run from police. The man, who was attempting to escape arrest, spotted Bill and was super eager to discuss Lost in Translation. Bill happily obliged only to have the man tackled by police minutes later. Never a dull moment.

He works the camera
He made a newly-engaged couple’s day by including himself in their engagement photoshoot. Looking a little like a confused uncle, Bill barely smiled, but looked happy to take part all the same. Hey, if you’re gonna be photobombed by anyone, it may as well be Bill Murray, right?

He does your dishes
College student Lykke Stavnef astounded her mates when she rocked up to a house party in Scotland with Bill, whom she had earlier met in a bar. He mingled, he entertained and then he pulled on his marigolds and started doing their dishes.  We need this man on our guest lists.

He tends bar
While visiting a bar in Austin in 2010, Bill decided to mosy on in behind the bar (as you do) and began to serve rounds of tequila, regardless of the customer’s request. If Bill Murray gives you tequila, you take tequila. End of.

If only they’d make a film of his real life. Sigh.

Get on Up

November 21st

Chronicling the life of world famous recording artist, James Brown, this film details the musician's early days in extreme poverty through to his ultimate rise to fame and fortune. Dubbed the Godfather of Soul, this star didn't have an easy rise to the top, but never stopped pursuing his dream. This bio- drama is definitely worth a watch and is, unsurprisingly, jam packed with his greatest hits!

Some films, like Mamma Mia and Grease are famed for their entire soundtrack while other films may have a stand-out song which encapsulates the entire movie in just three to four minutes. Either way, the music that accompanies any film is an integral part of the whole production and when it’s epic, it’s really epic.

From horrors to tearjerkers, here are just five films that brought us some of the greatest movie tracks in recent decades. Goosebumps, anyone?

The Lion King
Where do we start? Elton John didn’t win Oscars, Grammys and Golden Globes for his musical contribution to this 1994 Disney smash for nothing! 'Circle of Life', 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight?' and 'Hakuna Matata' bring us out in chills for all the right reasons. Nobody mention Mufasa. Sob.

The Bodyguard
“Aaaaaaand I!” Although written by Dolly Parton in the 70’s, Whitney totally made this song her own in this 1992 tearjerker. The emotion, the raw passion and those high notes makes this track one of our favourite movie theme songs of all time. Considered a guilty pleasure by some, but pleasure is pleasure, right?

Titanic
Yes, it was played to death and yes, Celine was a total drip, but you can’t tell us that you can listen to those opening notes without thinking of Rose and Jack’s ill-fated trip and whirlwind romance. Yeah, we thought so.

The Exorcist
If the film itself wasn’t terrifying enough, we were then subjected to what might be the scariest instrumental piece of all time. The fact that we wouldn’t play 'Tubular Bells' if we were alone in the house goes to show the power of a perfect theme song. Now, turn it off.

Rocky
Many people mightn’t even know the name of this famous theme song, but you can be sure they’d be able to belt it out at a moment’s notice, if asked. Rocky’s anthemic theme song ‘Gonna Fly Now’ stands for hard work, persistence and courage. Is it on your gym playlist? It should be.
