Dylan Penn is not only the daughter of two-time Oscar winning actor Sean Penn, she is also the daughter of House of Cards‘ leading lady, Robin Wright.

As she is set to make her movie debut in horror film, Condemned, we wonder if she is feeling the pressure of being the daughter of such successful actors!

Her mother, Robin, who plays the calculating Claire in House of Cards, was also Princess Buttercup in the 80’s cult film, The Princess Bride.

With such strong acting genes in her blood, we reckon Dylan is going to become a very familiar face indeed!

Dylan, who is 22, will be starring in the lead role of the indie horror flick which sees residents of a building try to kill each other after their rubbish gives them an infection.

It will begin shooting in New York in April and is directed by Eli Morgan Resner.

Entourage star Jeremy Piven was both “humbled and horrified” at a recent Q&A session where Mr. Selfridge and Sherlock were both on stage together.

The actor told Jimmy Kimmel how the session organisers forgot to say Mr. Selfridge when it came time for questions,

“They guide me to the stage in the dark and when the lights come on they say, ‘Please give your questions to Sherlock‘, and they forgot to say Mr. Selfridge. I am standing on stage while hundreds of people made their way to Benedict Cumberb****”.

However, Jeremy was quick to add his admiration for the actor and prove he was of course joking:

“By the way, he is a brilliant actor and a true gentleman and Sherlock is genius. I am a huge fan and he’ll never speak to me again.”

Actresses tend to get significantly more attention than their male counterparts with women such as Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts never out of the spotlight.

But that doesn’t mean they get more work.

A survey of the top 100 grossing domestic films of 2013 conducted by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film at San Diego State University revealed that women only make up:

  • 29% of major characters
  • 30% of speaking characters
  • 15% of protagonists

It also found that female characters were less likely than male characters to be in positions of leadership or have clear goals.

The study looked into the individual stories to see the impact of women in their roles and the types of characters they portray.

Isn’t it sad that women still can’t be seen in positions of power and leadership, even in fiction?

The Oscars 2014 ‘In Memoriam’ section included many famous faces in the industry that were lost since last year such as Roger Ebert, Shirley Temple, Paul Walker and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

However, Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on Glee and also starred  in movies  Monte Carlo and the upcoming McCanick, was omitted from the memoriam.

Camera assistant, Sarah Jones, who died in a tragic on-set accident on February 20th was mentioned following a social media campaign #ribbonsforsarah.

Meanwhile, Cory’s girlfriend, Lea Michele, has released a song that is said to be about Cory’s last words to her called If You Say So. So heartbreaking.

Do you enjoy fantasy and adventure films with a dash of magic and romance? Do you love movies with a strong, courageous young female lead? Then you’ll be very interested in this.

A special secret test screening is being held in Dublin this weekend and if you have younger sisters (or brothers!) aged between 8 and 15, you could come along to see the exciting new movie.

We love using our younger siblings to get into teen movies with  some dignity!

There’s a maximum of 4 tickets per invite and the group must include 1 adult. All participants will also get to complete an anonymous questionnaire at the end of the film.

This free screening will be held on Sunday March 9th at 11am sharp in Movies@Dundrum and since seating is limited, RSVP registration for seats is essential

To register, email testscreening14@gmail.com with your details and wait for a confirmation message.

Whether it’s your partner or your friends you will be cuddling up to this Valentine’s Day, we have the perfect movie for you!

1. The Notebook
Of course this was going to be number one. You may have better luck getting your friends to sit down to this one than your boyfriend though.

2. 50 First Dates
What could be more perfect for Valentine’s Day than a romantic comedy with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler?

3. Love Actually
Technically it’s a Christmas movie but we don’t care because it is so frickin cute.

4. Finding Neverland
Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp are so sweet in this historical fiction movie based on the creator of Peter Pan, J.M. Barrie.

5. When Harry met Sally
Such a classic, the scene in the diner may be a little awkward if it’s your first date though. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!

6. The Wedding Singer
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler make the perfect onscreen couple every time and we just love this cute and hilarious movie.

A new comedy-drama directed and co-written by Clooney, The Monuments Men is based on true events in history and a book called The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History (that rolls off the tongue…) by Robert M. Edsel.

The movie also stars Bill Murray and John Goodman, so it sounds like it’s going to be one to watch.
